Baby Elephants Cafe

babyelephant.jpeg

Having a cuddle with a baby (well, a child) elephant.

Baby elephant practices charging at you.

Baby elephant learning how to drink with his trunk.

Baby elephant suckling from mama. The baby tries a little charge up to the photographers' jeep, and then the mama gets a little protective. Towards the end, the baby elephant tries charging and threat displays again.

These baby elephants are born trouble-makers.

Baby elephant is wobbly on the new feet.

Another baby elephant charges, but is called back to mama with a husky throat-clearing.

Much less amusing: An elephant stampede, with the males repeatedly charging towards the tourists to let them know their presence is not welcome. There are some baby elephants in the mix, learning how to charge.

Two adult elephants rush into a pool to save a baby elephant from drowning.

Baby elephant won't wake up, so mother elephant asks the zookeepers for help rousing him. Kids!

The last video below is the cutest.

38 I read once that elephants now have tusks which are substantially shorter than those they used to have a few hundred years ago. The reason is that poachers selectively kill those with big tusks. I wonder if it would be possible to reverse that process by breeding for those with big tusks. Size matters.

I did not know about that vehicle line! No, I named him for Stirling Moss, the British race car driver who raced for Mercedes in the 1950s. There's a town and county in Scotland by that name. And a Scottish tobacco and pipe company, Rattray's, has a blend named Stirling Flake. I've never smoked it, its description sounds too strong for me, but the name was cool.

He almost got called for another of their blends, Marlin. But I kept thinking "Marvin" instead, so I went with Stirling.

Ask Tarzan!

Yes, Tantor the elephant was his buddy in the jungle, and he would never have harmed an elephant. But as a young teen, unable to make a kill, he stole some stew meat -- elephant -- from a local tribe's pot. Burroughs tells us the animal had been sick before it was killed. This led to the young Tarzan hallucinating and shooting arrows at the moon!

Well meaning, but socially IDIOT member works at the San Antonio Zoo. Not "THE" elephant keeper, but works with the Jumbos in their enclosure, under the direction of the Keeper.

He comes to church directly from work.

It was like an Elephant Shitbomb went off right in the middle of the congregation. Emptied multiple rows around him, no matter how hard congregants tried to be "gracious", it could not be done, and no WAY it could be sustained throughout the remaining services.

Couple of elders escorted him out, and very gently explained to him some things, gave him $ for his dinner that night, and strongly invited him back for next week.. even if late, as he'd HAVE to have stopped by home, showered and donned clean clothes. !JAMBA!

Driving back from somewhere one night, we stopped and saw a huge something walks up to the passenger window. The hyena just peeked in and went on its way. Its head filled up the door window. It was huge. Bigger than the car we were in. It was probably scrounging for food.

I told Marie-Antoinette the late black smart cat that no one liked her; and Chekov D. Siberian that "Cats are the least popular pet, Siberians the least popular breed, and white-and-black the least popular coat color. You got three strikes already, cat. Don't make it worse."

I tell MadisonTheCat that she's the luckiest black cat in
Texas. She got smashed in the middle of a busy intersection and some sentimental old bastard ran out in traffic and scooped her up. He then spent over $2,500 to patch her up and now she's an elegant acrobatic bugkilling machine.

317 I think that Dr. Honda was a real genius but, I spent the afternoon wiring in a full wave rectifier and voltage limiter into my 1983 C70 to stop it from eating headlight bulbs. The good Doctor designed them to use the battery to soak up extra voltage, and boy does it put out extra volts. It's supposed to be 12V but, according to my meter, the alternator puts out 29V at high RPM, and if the battery is full from a long ride, *POP* goes the headlight bulb.

Not the best design.

End of story.

We put a pan with horse pellets in the puppy pen. They learned very quickly to use that and nowhere else.

376 Shiiiit, the only thing my cat kills is Fancy Feast. I've had innie-outies since 2005 and in that entire span, i got 1 present.

And that's as it should be. I don't dislike cats. I was raised with cats, dogs, horses and a whole lot of other animals. They are all good in there own way and different animals for different people.

383 I love doggies. Enough to know that I am not the right kind of man to take care of a dog. I would do all right, but any dog I had would be one of them ones that jump up and want to lick your face.

I simply do not have the temperament to raise a well-behaved dog.

That's why I've always preferred cats. Plop them in the litter box a couple of times, they're house-trained.

385 when I got my first bichon, I just let him roam the countryside with my golden

and when it snowed, you couldn't even see him

of course, like everything else, once i started thinking about it and I got really attached to him, I started worrying about him roaming aroud

I still can't believe I let him do that

now, he's hardly ever out of my sight

and I got another one

Couple of articles about that. But apparently some of the Trump candidates are not depending on Mitch for the time of day!

I've seen a couple. Both really big orange tom cats who look like they know how to fuck shit up. Really nice too. They would visit me when I sat on my porch.

But for the most part, I do not see a lot of cats wandering around. We have foxes, coyotes, big hawks.

394 Our outdoor kitteh doesn't leave 'presents' for us. I'm not complaining!

He comes indoors to mooch cat fud, if hunting was unsuccessful. And to escape extreme temperatures, especially on winter nights.

He likes to sprawl out on the cool tile floor when it's 100F+ outside
