The Morning Report — 8/8/22

sinemaverite.jpg

Good morning, kids. Start of a new week and so the insanity of the Orwellian insult known as the "Inflation Reduction Act," which does the exact opposite of its name (hence, Orwellian) taxes everyone out the wazoo while spending "only" a svelte $700-odd billion instead of the original $5 trillion from last year's attempted Build Bolshevism Biggerer bill passed in the Senate. To absolutely no one's surprise, the hallucinatory brown acid trip of Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema as the saviors of "conservatism" or at best "moderation" had their palms out and got them greased by greasiest of greasy bastards Chuck "Schemer" Schumer. Now we find ourselves paranoid, sweating and retching in the gutter, trying to scoop up our vomitus like Chuck Negron with the DTs in the wake of that bad trip.

Honestly, all things considered, I'm finding it hard in a way to really give a flying fig about whatever spending there is in this monstrosity. The economy is nosediving towards a Weimar/Zimbabwe level catastrophe at the same time and primarily caused by this illegitimate junta's obsession with wiping out carbon, the element and essence of life (the Horta notwithstanding) in all its forms. So what the hell is another $700 billion, that is if you really believe that the actual final figure is $700 billion and no way is it ever going to exceed that, CBO scoring shenanigans and just plain old graft and lying notwithstanding. I have no idea what the page count on this cancer is, but for sure it's got to be in the high hundreds if not into the thousands, like every other damned massive bill that has been written months if not years in advance by armies of obedient Leftist cogs, faculty lounge lizards and C-suite suck-ups, whipped out of file cabinet at the slightest whiff of a crisis that cannot be let go to waste and passed in the dead of night with no time to read even the flyleaf that says "Reg US Pat Off." and the description of the typeface.

Yet, the wastage of money is the least of our worries. It's what's buried in the fine print on page 1,437 that one day reveals itself as the anti-constitutional beast that will suck the life out of us. Remember back to the halcyon days just prior to the Obama reign of error (and arguably that continues to this day from Schloss Kalorama) when the jug-eared, dog-eating purple-lipped fraud/candidate envisioned some Civilian National Security Force that was to be bigger than the Defense Department? Well, it may be knocking on your door in the not too distant future, all in the name of "inflation reduction."

. . . Biden’s handlers are tackling the real problem facing America today: they’re expanding the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to the extent that, according to the Washington Free Beacon, it will soon be larger “than the Pentagon, State Department, FBI, and Border Patrol combined.”

Yes, it’s true. The people who run Joe Biden looked around at their dumpster fire of an administration, and the smoking ruin they have wrought, and decided that what America really needs are tens of thousands of new employees for the IRS. . .

. . . Why does the IRS need so many new full-time employees? Why does it need a six-hundred-percent budget increase? It’s all part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to squeeze the American middle class. The Free Beacon notes that according to “a Congressional Budget Office analysis,” the new behemoth IRS “would result in more than $200 billion in additional revenue for the federal government over the next decade.” This is because the new IRS agents would devote substantial energy to squeezing Americans and bleeding them dry: “Democrats say the hiring of additional IRS agents will help root out tax cheats and other criminals,” for “more than half of that funding is specifically earmarked for ‘enforcement,’ meaning tax audits and other responsibilities such as ‘digital asset monitoring. . .’”

. . . the new IRS agents would devote substantial energy to squeezing Americans and bleeding them dry: “Democrats say the hiring of additional IRS agents will help root out tax cheats and other criminals,” for “more than half of that funding is specifically earmarked for ‘enforcement,’ meaning tax audits and other responsibilities such as ‘digital asset monitoring.’”

It’s easy to see where all this is going. The new super-IRS will be as corrupt and politicized as the FBI already is, and would use its new staff and money to go after dissenters from the Leftist regime in Washington. The IRS is already one of the most hated and feared of all federal agencies, and one that was already politicized during Barack Obama’s first two terms, when the infamous Lois Lerner began persecuting conservative nonprofit organizations.

Look, I'm no John Kenneth Galbraith but if the purveyors of this so-called "modern monetary theory" claim the government can print as much money as it wants to, then why does the government need to tax the citizenry at all? Ask that of a true-believing Lefty and watch him do the Norman Coordinate shuffle. But of course, the is not a dumb question at all. Taxation, at least in the post-war era of an ever-metastasizing bureaucracy is a means to stymie personal freedom as well as a punishment for individual achievement. Money, wealth and property, at whatever amount it is earned by the individual is the measure of independence and, in turn, freedom. Why do you think the Commies have spent the past hundred-odd years trying to take it away from you and why the Davos set are hot and horny for you to have nothing and like it? (see this link on the not-so-stealthy drive for a cashless society in Ireland)

Ironically, as this junta drives us all towards societal dissolution by strangling the goose that laid the golden egg of American prosperity, there won't be any money for the IRS to confiscate. You can always pay it off in debtor's prison or by building that new White Sea Canal or high-speed California railroad. One dead soul per tie just like in Burma.

Cops make arrest, again; the dogs are okay; suspect and [maybe] taxi driver in hospital with injuries.

if they start seriously enforcing this, people might stop buying from those places, hurting their businesses enough to pay them back a bit. I hope...

----
This is indeed a question I've been asking myself. Federal monetary policy seems completely divorced from collecting revenue, other than as a means to control. Whenever they want to fund a project, they just print more money, causing more problems.

State and local taxes could still be collected (they can't print their own money), but federal income tax should just be abolished because they don't really "need" it.

With all that's happening to Americans, with all of the corruption and treachery surrounding our gov't, with our liberties and freedoms being vaporized at break neck speed, with globalism swallowing us piece by piece, with money being siphoned out of our pockets, with our deep fears being that we're headed in the wrong direction as a country...this is what Congress has done.

75 Its times like these --with a threat and an issue like tens of thousands of additional IRS agents in the Orwell Bill.--that a Republican leadership could drive a stake in the Commies hearts.

Alas, we have two Decepticon RINO's , Kevin and Mitch, who are as much as threat to our country as the Communists.
May sound off topic but Bannon says Trump should be Speaker of the House for 100 days then switch to be a candidate for POTUS.

81 My wife quite often gets paid via Venmo in her business, and she also sends money to sub-contractors the same way. Since Democrats will now require 1099's for all those transactions she is stopping that practice, cold turkey. It's not that she didn't report her income (she did), it's that she just doesn't want to mess with all that record keeping and paper reconciliation. Screw it.

I bet Venmo sees reduced large transaction volume. It's future is 20-somethings paying each other back for bar drinks.

82 It’s easy to see where all this is going. The new super-IRS will be as corrupt and politicized as the FBI already is, and would use its new staff and money to go after dissenters from the Leftist regime in Washington.
++++
It already is. The only difference between the IRS and the FBI - or the freaking Department of Education or the EPA, for that matter - is mandate, armament level and scale. This fixes the scale problem by more than doubling the IRS.

They don't need to more than double the workforce to go after rich guys. Then we consider "high net worth individuals" - those with $25 million or more in assets - there are only around 156k households total. The IRS hiring of 87k employees would allow them to be assigned 0.5:1 permanently, with plenty of headroom to cover HNWI growth, vacations, etc.

This workforce isn't for those guys, it's for you and me. More than anything, it's for the guys selling stuff on eBay or Facebook Marketplace or the like - typically blue-collar or lower-end white-collar families with a little side action. Gotta squeeze 'em and ruin their lives.

No shit.

Now, the fun part. How many US households are there with under $200k in annual earnings? Unsurprisingly, it's almost all of them. All of the brackets up to $199,999 total 89.8% of the total of all households. So that means, with an new tax that is truly flat and applies to everyone, about 90% of the new revenue should come from the sub-$200k group.

But what about breaking out that huge - and essentially useless - "sub-$200k" group? Where does the majority of the majority come from? I strongly suspect it will come from the $30k-$100k, or possibly even the $30k-$75k group. That's the segment - people who aren't full-on flat broke and in poverty, and of whom there are large numbers - that they're really going to squeeze.

Just like California wanted to destroy the gig economy, this move is to centralize the plundering and destroying of the independent contractor and small business.

Probably some, but not much. IRS workforce has declined by 12% over the past ten years and is around 78k employees. Assuming productivity is down by 25% (that is more than what we're seeing the private sector), that is effectively around 58,500 2012-equivalent employees. To return to 2012 levels of approximately 87k employees at then-current productivity, the total needs to be around 109k employees, or an increase of around 31,000 employees. The actual increase of 80,000 employees is 2.6x larger than would be needed to return to 2012 levels, even with a generous productivity offset.

Xi's "Dynamic Zero COVID Policy" has been monumentally destructive. I first thought that it was a play to break Shanghai for political reasons (Shanghai and the Eastern Military District is where a lot of Xi's opposition is), but then they kept imposing it on other places, including other major industrial centers, Beijing itself, agricultural districts, etc. It wasn't just a political play in Shanghai, and it's destroying everything it touches.

That's probably not accurate. Girls may be more susceptible than boys, but boys are certainly vulnerable to social pressures too.

If a boy feels like a misfit already, and he's being told by teachers, counselors, social media, etc., that his problem is he is really a girl, and that "transitioning" will solve all his problems and make him happy, he'll probably buy into it. The pressure being put on these kids is intense, and they are rarely exposed to any alternative points of view.

But you forget a critical failure in that thinking: The GOP, to the last man and woman, are feckless, spineless creatures who don't have a single cell in their body that has any love for the FUSA. The IRS will just be an off-camera vector to have GOP legislate like Democrats.

They will simply take the revelations made to them w/r/t their tax status as helpful motivators to Do The Right Thing. "Nice portfolio you have here, bub; hate to see anything bad happen to it"

231 The mystery of why the IRS stockpiled half the ammo in the country seems to be solved. The voluntary tax compliance system, under the Build Bolshevism Bigger, looks like it's going to start offering some personalized enhanced voluntary compliance, home edition. Since the IRS, at the current staffing level, is able to process all the nation's tax returns it seems prudent to wonder what 87,000 new minted IRS agents are going to be doing. My first guess is they won't be stepping each other's dicks.

234 Folks, clutch your pearls and have your fainting couches ready for this Bulwark article: The Unpresidential Vulgarity of ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ ...the former president remains staunchly dedicated to demeaning American politics. A picture of a "Let's Go Brandon" flag follows, with the caption explaining its from the Rittenhouse trial, and "Rittenhouse is accused of shooting three demonstrators, killing two of them". Guess they never got the update that he wasn't guilty.

The articles explains the phrase's origin, concluding "the crowd began a chant that was difficult to make out. The reporter thought they were chanting “Let’s go Brandon!” when it actually was “Fuck Joe Biden.”

It's all a rambling mess of lies, but this summarizes well: Biden is the oldest president in our nation’s history, a childhood stutterer, given to occasional gaffes. But he has never been anywhere near as bumbling and inarticulate as Donald (“I have the best words” Trump. The notion that Biden is unfit and Trump wasn’t rivals “Stop the Steal” as the GOP’s biggest lie.

235 Given that the IRS would under normal circumstances be interested in people who can do "math" I'm sure the "new math" under CRT will be used to justify taking whatever they want from whomever they want.

What's going to get dicey is when a real accountant goes up against the IRS with real math and gets dicked in the ass with woke bullshit from the feds.

That might cause some folks to go postal, and not just the ones being robbed by the feds.

Companies are leaving China in droves. Westerners are leaving, and HK is losing it's entrepreneurs to Singapore and Malaysia. I know some people who lived in Shanghai for a decade, owned restaurants and did consulting gigs (working with American companies opening local offices), and even they are leaving. The reason McConell is "great" on judges is b/c he doesn't care about judges. Despite our (and the left's) obsession with the Courts - they have very little impact on the globalist/uni-party agenda outside a few very narrow areas (abortion and guns).

McConnell and the GOPe knew they could keep us voting R if they gave us judges all while pushing the uni-party/Globalist agenda in legislation. B/c courts aren't going to stop the uni-party/globalist legislative agenda.

So, all the kudos McConnell gets on judges is somewhat misplaced, as it was part of the con. I doubt McConnell cares at all about the Courts. Yes, I'm glad we at least got conservative Judges out of the GOPe, but again - it was just part of the con.

If those same rights were given to gun owners so that Class III permission was taken away from the feds and given to states with states being allowed to grant any and all freedom to gun owners within borders, would that be a federal gun ban?

Abortion wasn't overturned. I don't know why we keep saying it was. Pro-abortion was given more freedom than ever. FWIW, that's the way it should be. I'm a big 10th Amendment type. But let's state the facts in the discussion.

I'd love to have the "ban" that the abortion advocates just faced.

Nah, not yet. I am not sure where CNN is aligned, but the venues to watch are the WaPo (the Party rag) and NYT (the State rag). The TV nets are less clear (though MSNBC is firmly a Party organ). I suspect CNN is more State than Party, but I am not sure. You should expect Biden to go only when the NYT and WaPo both agree that Biden should go.

318 "government can print as much money as it wants to, then why does the government need to tax the citizenry at all?"

right, it is double taxation increase ... the hidden tax of inflation, and then an increase in working class taxes.

But the one tax Sinema insisted be removed from the bill was increasing the capital gains tax (so that "free income" was not taxed as high as wages).

The experts claim MMT can control inflation by taxation. I guess that means removing money from circulation, but we already have high inflation and they are ADDing trillions.

I think the real purpose of increased taxation plus inflation is to throttle the masses, but that will in turn throttle the whole economy. They won't really remove money from circulation till they own everything, and the masses are unhappy with nothing. MMT is a wrecking ball to Lady Liberty.

333 After my father had a stroke which left him bedridden and 90% unable to speak, and I was wiping his ass and spoon feeding him like a 200 pound infant, the IRS would send an auditor about every month or so to see what I was going to do about satisfying his debt.

I eventually told the agent in charge to take my father with him, and I got my dad out of his bed and put him into a wheelchair and pushed him outside and asked the agent where he wanted him. I told him it wasn't my fucking debt and they could just fucking take him to their office and discuss his records with them. The agent got back in his car and told me that was his last visit.

I hated that, because I loved my dad for all his faults, and being forced to declare him a burden and not a person right in front of him, even with his limited abilities, was cruel. But that is what the American government will do to you. They will suck every dollar out of you, drive you to a mental breakdown and give it to some deadbeat in a ghetto or to some government 'worker' that makes three times as much as you.

They can't. The bigger question is whether they can exfiltrate their engineers and designs in time, and whether TSMC or the Taiwanese government is willing to scuttle TSMC's domestic (in Taiwan) capacity and facilities.

If the answer to either or both of those question - and the latter is even more important than the former - is "yes" then the world will survive it. It will suck and keep sucking for years, but the event will probably be survivable. If China gets its hands on the next-gen IC technology at TSMC and in other firms, then it's probably game over and Red China will have the world by the balls for the foreseeable future. If Taiwan blows it all into iron filings on as the CCP approaches, it will be ruinous for Taiwan (if it survives the war at all), but you'll also hear the shrieking from Beijing as far away as Alaska.

366 McConnell is poison to the GOP. He did his JOB on judges, nothing else. He FAILED on all his other responsibilities. He is not a fighter. He is NOT on YOUR side. He's not for liberty or democracy. He is for HIMSELF and the DC establishment. Even if we win the senate, if he becomes leader it will be hard to accomplish anything. You can bank on it. Past IS prologue.
Posted by: Marcus T at August 08, 2022 09:10 AM (VpIIl)

Agree.
And Trump will destroy McConnell despite McConnells current overwhelming strength and power.
CPAC -- a bona fide UniParty organ in prior years that seriously debated shunning g Trump back when -- was The Trump PAC this past week in Dallas. Trump is Providential. Trump is a force of nature. Bet on Trump. Trump will destroy the evil known as McConnell.
If McConnell were even half as smart as people here say he is McConnell would have let Trump have his second term in 20.
McConnell is going to suffer greatly in Trumps third term..... if McConnell survives Trumps third term.
I say McConnell leaves the Senate. Prematurely.
Trump wins. Bet on it.

367 That article dealing with diversity in the medical field: attempts to 'correct' are going to run smack hard up against IQ / math dunce reality.

It's been argued that doctoring is akin to cookbook medicine. Agreed ...but you have to know the underlying science to know the treatment applied...and that means a doctor has to know math.

Knowing math obliterates the diversity field. That social justice crowd can push all they want but they can't push past DNA and the innate abilities it confers on all of us.

nah, they're past math and science now. it's all about just clicking on the box with the symptoms and having the computer tell them which treatment to select. I've seen some docs who couldn't explain what as wrong with me even knowing the terms. And I just an idiot engineer, not a doctor but i could figure it out better than them.

Look at the Naval Academy. until recently, every grading Senior had received a degree in one of the hard sciences. And hard science requires a strong foundation in math, and, well....science.

Or to put it another way, remember the field of medicine in Idiocracy?

384 So under the "Alex Jones precedent" can Covid families sue anyone who "without evidence" claims Covid was made in a Chinese lab, or its lethality exaggerated? How about Sicknick's familiy suing "J6 Conspiracy theorists" for their "distress" or because "someone sent them death threats."

Worse than the Jones verdict is the obfuscating coverage, that conflates "distress" with defamation, and uniformly prefaces every reference to Jones as "conspiracy theorist."

Under the "Jones doctrine" we are that much closer to trannies suing "conspiracy theorists" for their "distress" and "threats" because of claims "without evidence" they are actually not the gender they claim.
