The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

The National Socialist German Workers' Party ran Germany from 1933 until the end of World War II in May of 1945. In a quirk of their own design, in spite of being the very heart of the effort to destroy the Jewish people, they killed about 70% of Germany's Jews, in large part because they were sticklers for the appearance of the rule of law. Contrast that with the savagery they exhibited in other countries. In Greece and Poland they killed in excess of 90% of those nations' Jews.

Beginning in 1933 the Nazis began constructing a legal framework for their ultimate goal. Everything was done under the guise of German law, and as Hannah Arendt famously described, it was the banality of evil: clerks and accountants and railway engineers and carpenters doing legal work that was nevertheless shocking in its depravity and soullessness.

Fast Forward 90 years, and we have a government that is acting very clearly in a depraved and evil way, yet shields itself from accusations of anti-freedom behavior with arcane legal structures that allow them to act under color of the law, in spite of the obvious moral and ethical wrongs that they perpetrate.

The clearly intended consequence of the 30,000 federal statutes and innumerable regulations buried in millions of pages of the Leviathan is the culmination of Lavrenti Beria's famous maxim:

Show me the man, and I'll show you the crime.
That is what we have today...an out-of-control state that uses the power of its laws to attack its enemies, and it's all perfectly legal! No doubt President Trump ran afoul of a few regulations buried in the thousands that govern the handling of government documents. You know...just like every single president and every single high official since time immemorial.

But Donald Trump is different; he doesn't play the game, and for that he must be destroyed, because the American people did not reject his brand of muscular populism the way they were expected. Instead they embraced him as someone who truly understood them and their desire to be out from under the jackboots of the state. And mostly they loved him for his love of them and their country.

So Donald Trump's love of America must be banished, and Donald Trump must be punished.

10 The Florida federal magistrate judge who signed off on a search warrant authorizing the FBI raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort left the local US Attorney’s office more than a decade ago to rep employees of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein who had received immunity in the long-running sex-trafficking investigation of the financier.

Sources tell The Post that Judge Bruce Reinhart approved the warrant that enabled federal agents to converge on the palatial South Florida estate on Monday in what Trump called an “unannounced raid on my home.”

Reinhart was elevated to magistrate judge in March 2018 after 10 years in private practice. That November, the Miami Herald reported that he had represented several of Epstein’s employees — including, by Reinhart’s own admission to the outlet, Epstein’s pilots; his scheduler, Sarah Kellen; and Nadia Marcinkova, who Epstein once reportedly described as his “Yugoslavian sex slave.”

27 We have entered a period of constant friction among factions. Governors need to start advancing their own foreign policies and developing state WMD programs AND announce the will to use them. This is war now, hot war, and needs to be treated as such. It is pretty obvious the Regime wants a nuclear exchange with Russia, and the various governors need to meet directly with Putin to discuss neutrality and try to minimize the inevitable horror their states also will suffer. A state-engineered nuclear test in the Texas Panhandle possibly, although not definitely, is the best deterrent toward hot war.

So these putative "leaders" either didn't see it coming or were too afraid to say so, and now issue pro forma denunciations without any vision of the larger crisis. In an ideal world (Oh hush), this would be what happens:

All laws passed by the federal government have a five year lifespan. Afterward, continuing the law's existence must have a 3/4 majority in the House and the Senate before going to the President.

Any attempt to create a law that does the same as the existing law is immediately null and void as is the person who crafted it.

And this is retroactive to the founding our nation with the exception of the Constitution.

Did someone just tell you,"may you live in interesting times?" What do they mean? This post unpacks the meaning and origin of this idiomatic expression.
Meaning

If someone tells you, "may you live in interesting times," it's easy to confuse it with a blessing. However, it's actually the opposite, and they are hoping to curse you.

Essentially, they wish that you encounter nothing but strife and hardship in your life in the future. You can think of it as a nice way of telling someone to "get lost."

Bless their hearts. It's not a blessing, but a warning.

I doubt it. Elections are useful fiction. Worst case is a "red wave," in which they establishment types in the legislature run interference while the deep state subverts any reform anyway. Losing the congress wouldn't make them happy and it might retard their progress somewhat, but it isn't actually a serious problem and certainly not a problem as big as the problems that would surface as a result of canceling the elections. 140 The question I'm waiting to (hopefully) have answered is, did Trump take classified documents out of the White House *after* noon on January 20th? If he did, the Biden junta can probably get away with this, up to a point, because enough people will accept the argument that Trump, as a private citizen, was breaking the law in doing so. (Most of us, of course, would argue that he was and is still the lawful President and not a private citizen, but we've already seen where that gets us.)

Obviously we can point out the hypocrisy of Sandy Berger, Hunter Biden, and all the other lawbreakers on the Democrat side, but the natural comeback to that will be "That doesn't make Trump innocent."

If, on the other hand, Trump *didn't* take anything out of the WH after he quote-unquote ceased to be President, this has a very real chance of blowing up in the junta's faces. Assuming, of course, that they don't just fabricate some evidence, which they may already have done.

Elections are a pacifier and a fairly valuable one.

Agreed. It isn't just all the reasons you outlined; it's also that they *need* to continue portraying themselves as the defenders of democracy, not only to the public but to themselves as well. No totalitarian regime survives for long unless there's at least a fig leaf of legitimacy behind it; hell, even the Nazis and Communists held "elections" from time to time. They can't just cancel the elections. They might announce a new round of "fortifying" measures, but outright cancellation is a no-go.

He says don't respond in a way that would justify the Dems counter response, but instead work to destroy them electorally and in the *snerk* justice system.

Serious question: if the Dems are brazen enough to conduct this raid (and the Feebs have already announced they are planning to raid every Trump residence and organization), what makes anyone think they would not be brazen enough to steal the coming election or announce a national lockdown?

Second serious question: if the Dems permit this laughable 'red wave' to occur, what makes anyone think a GOP congress staffed with the likes of Ted "you know, Ashli Babbit was the real insurrectionist" Cruz will push back in the slightest?

I'll be honest: I see no way of voting our way out if this, but I also see no straw beyond this breaking the camel's back. If blowback from this raid does not end in a nationwide strike, a literal million-man march or some other yuge, obvious resistance, then maybe it's time to give up.

A year ago I would have agreed with you, but I’ve come to the conclusion that Trump is actually tripped up by his own ego rather than his enemies. His ego is his and our Achilles heel. He doesn’t know when to stop talking. Desantis does what needs to be done, has a sound bite and moves on. Desantis doesn’t get into his feelings or feels like he has to defend his honor. I understand prolonging patriots in the office is a good idea, but we need someone to start fixing things and not talk a lot about how great they think they are. Just get the business done and then we can celebrate in the streets.

Okay, let's assume this is true. New research and new detection methods and equipment have identified persistent chemical pollution in the global water cycle.

The research is new, but what does that say about the age or duration of the phenomenon itself? At first blush, nothing at all. We now know about the phenomenon, but that doesn't mean the phenomenon is new. And if the phenomenon is not new, then how long has it been going on? Is there any way to know? If it has been going on for some time, then doesn't that throw the current definition of "dangerous levels" into question?

Part of this seems like bait by the left to ensure Trump runs. They've already developed the playbook to make sure he doesn't win election, but if he actually wins, they know how to bog him down for another 4 years.

For those reasons, I also still prefer Desantis as a candidate now. Of course if Trump wins the nomination, I would certainly support him.

Let me put it this way - if DeSantis has a *single metatarsal* in a closet he once rented, let alone an entire skeleton in his own, he will be fucked 100 ways from Sunday and that will be the end. No backup option. No one coming in to potentially save the day. Just a long line of Cruzes, Haleys and Bushes.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg - ignoring many many other pitfalls that await any proto-Trump who seems to do it all so much better from what is essentially a sideline.

Somethings in order of descending certitude:
1. No document generated at the WH level avoids duplication for archiving. The Feds have copies of everything.
2. Presidents and staff don't physically take documents out of the WH.
3. Some on the interwebs were saying that the archive office sends the exiting presidential staff the documents they request. If true, this means that not only does the archive have all of the docs, they cleared them for release.

295 The lockdowns that Xi pioneered and Birx so zealously advocated for reportedly led to over 170,000 non-COVID excess deaths among young Americans while failing to meaningfully slow the spread of COVID anywhere they were tried. It would have been impossible for an enemy agent armed with anything less than nuclear weapons to have inflicted so much damage on America’s economy, social fabric, and historical freedoms in such a short period of time.

Notably, though Birx’s memoir has earned relatively few reviews from human readers on Amazon, it’s earned rave reviews from Chinese state media, a feat not shared even by the far more popular pro-lockdown books of professional genuflectors to power like Lawrence Wright.

The glowing response from Chinese state media should come as no surprise. Nearly every sentence of Birx’s book faithfully parrots the Chinese Communist Party’s foreign and domestic propaganda, which helped facilitate Xi’s weaponization of the COVID response to eliminate the independence of the CCP’s private sector rivals.

To this day Curt Weldon has not been charged with any crime as a result of that raid. But he lost his re-election bid. Curt, a Republican, easily kept winning re-election in a purple-turning red district, because of his office's great constituent service.

But DS got their wish. As a result of the publicity of the raid, Curt lost for the first time in 8 election cycles.

Back when I first got on the webz in '93, and the Clintons had first darkened the White House, my first foray was searching out Ayn Rand acolytes like myself. Found a great IRC channel with some sharp people, and learned a lot.

Also learned of a group of "anonymous" military veterans (Bob from the NSA likely had them staked out already) who published a newsletter called The Resistor, and they'd made a commitment to continue their Oaths to uphold the U.S. Constitution against all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC -- explicitly claiming that they would do what needed to be done if the Left became extra-constitutional and tyrannical (of course, we had no idea of the breadth and depth of the Deep State, even back then, and undoubtedly it's orders of magnitude worse now).

Anyway, I've been waiting for some underground group of veterans or the like since, who had no issue taking care of tyrants in foreign lands ... but this isn't gonna turn out like a fantasy revenge movie, is it?

Per the Gateway Pundit, Trump has previously received classified material at his Mar-A-Lago home, but it has always been stored/viewed in an SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility). Which seems to be entirely in keeping with existing regulations on the matter, and which happens all the time with former presidents.

So on the face of it, it wouldn't seem that Trump *could* be in unlawful possession of any materials. But there could be an angle to this I'm overlooking.

342 I am expecting that we are going to hear endlessly over the coming days that Sec. 2071-Title 18 USC justifies the "Raid on Mar-a-lago" (tm, pat. pending) and that it carries as a penalty that a conviction under this bars a person from holding any US office. However, the US Constitution sets eligibility for the presidency and impeachment as the only removal remedy. And the Democrats knows this.

Democratic lawyer Marc Elias stated the real purpose for the FBI raid on President Trump's home, "Yes, I recognize the legal challenge that application of this law [2071] to a president would garner. But the idea that a candidate would have to litigate this is during a campaign is in my view a 'blockbuster in American politics.'"

That a sitting president brought down the entire power of the Federal government on his rival in the 2020 election and most certainly now, 2024 is nothing more or less than political terrorism. It is also a warning to the public in general that you will be next if you get out of line which has already happened to the J6 political prisoners. This raid is on par with Watergate or the Kennedy assassination in how it can reshape political power in the nation.

Yes they are. But if you look closely, you will see that the walls are closing in. Hence the ratcheting up of political violence from the left. Trump exposed them. Most of the electorate is now where I was 20 years ago. This only goes one way, but the DC Elite are trying to stop them from moving the rest of the way. I'm not sure this helps them do that. There is a critical mass of MAGA styled reps building in the congress.

There are other things we must do. And in states where we are clearly in control, start firing shots at the feds where we can - like DeSantis in Florida, to a lesser degree Abott in Texas, and the AG in West Virginia. If we a rein a purple area - get involved in the mechanics of either the actual vote, or the nominating process.

407 NYPost:

The Florida federal magistrate judge who signed off on a search warrant authorizing the FBI raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort left the local US Attorney’s office more than a decade ago to rep employees of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein who had received immunity in the long-running sex-trafficking investigation of the financier.

It's not even a close call. We have relatively recent Supreme Court precedent that the Constitution is the only document that sets the qualifications for federal office. (U.S. Term Limits, Inc. v. Thornton (1995)).

448 Reports of the death of Myanmar's ambassador to China last Sunday in the southwestern Chinese city of Kunming seemed all normal until reporters noted that he is the fourth ambassador to China to die within a year while in office. ... A statement by the Foreign Ministry in Myanmar announced the death of Ambassador U Myo Thant Pe without providing details on the cause of his death, despite media reports in China and Myanmar suggesting it was the result of a heart attack.

450 Anne Frank was a criminal fugitive.
The people who hid her were committing a crime.
The people who turned her in were following the law.
The judge who signed the warrent and order to arrest her was following the law.
The bureaucrats who signed the papers to send her to the death camp were following the law.
The guard who executed her was following the law.

Only one person committed a crime here: Anne Frank.

451 "446 Yes they probably would have come up with something else but the Jan 6 rally has to be one of the most short sighted actions in history. You could see the set up coming from a million miles away. Can't change what's been done but it's still aggravating , especially now.

There were so many feds and lefty plants there that they could have staged a whole incident without any help. Networks had entire crews dressed up as Trump supporters.

452 Calling Trump in for questioning on some minor BS they find will be the next step, Then getting him to contradict himself on some point and "lie" to FBI with repeated, endless interrogations.

453 So if the FBI didn't open the boxes that were taken, how do they account for the chain of custody of the material in them?

Trust them? Yeah that ship sailed long ago. Now these boxes are just like boxes full of ballots found in the back of a Pontiac at a polling station.

454 Tim Ryan has spent a lot of money on his Trump imitation. His PR has made the most of his (very few) issues with the overweening narrative. Ohio Dems love a maverick, and they've pretty well maverick'd him up.

457 >>> 399 I have to admit I'm a bit confused over what happened last night;

Not the raid, but everyone's reaction to it. Did you all expect this not to happen? People seem to be surprised by it.

I guess you're going to be real surprised when they drone someone domestically. This isn't going to stop at a bit of prog misbehavior; these people have the full gamut of horrors queued up for us
Posted by: somedood - skull mountain sherpa at August 09, 2022 11:55 AM (7QclL)

I wasn't surprised. You missed my comment where I said the raid is diddly-squat along the path where the WEF psychos and their "fellow travelers" want to wipe out ~98% of the population.

458 This raid might have worked if they found the body of George Floyd. Yeah, just another pretext for endless 'investigations' by our betters instead of a functioning 1st World Government. Oligarchs must be obeyed in 'Our Democracy!'

461 It's not propaganda that you should filter and treat rainwater before drinking it.

Posted by: bonhomme at August 09, 2022 11:46 AM (i0wNm)

Yeah, if you're collecting it from gutters. Otherwise, use a coffee filter for the big bits, boil for a few minutes. Or use bleach or another purifying agent or a filter like the Berkey filters to remove such things.

But collecting rain off a tarp in a storm? It would go straight into my drinking water bottle.

468 The total amount of Wyoming voters is slightly more than 284,500. If approximately 6,000 non-Republicans have registered as Republicans to vote for Cheney, that number amounts to about 2 percent of the total electorate–assuming 100 percent turnout among registered voters. Polling shows that Cheney is trailing conservative challenger Harriet Hageman, who is endorsed by former President Donald Trump, by 30 points.

“There aren’t enough Democrats in Wyoming to save her, but this confirms that Liz Cheney has effectively switched parties,” Hageman adviser Tim Murtaugh told Newsweek.

Democrat operatives noticed in June that Cheney had sent out mailers to Democrats asking for them to vote for her. The mailer had direct instructions on how Democrat Wyoming voters can change their party affiliation to cast a vote for Cheney. The mailer also displayed Cheney’s campaign web address for Democrat voters to learn more specifics.

There has been a huge rethink on how TV ads are used. Early use frequently is just money down the drain, it doesn't move the needle. Plus, fewer and fewer people are watching live TV anymore. Later TV ad blitzes tend to be more effective now.

474 If we want to curtail actions of the human smugglers and coyotes bringing illegal immigrants into this country why doesn't the governor of Texas and other Red States put a bounty on them like we did in the old days - bring them in dead or alive to collect. If they are known human smugglers easy - match them to the wanted posters/mugshots, if not catch them on video driving the trucks or herding the immigrants into the country.

Without the smugglers- the flow of immigrants would probably slow way down.
