When I was still in my teens I once had a dude try to silence of the lambs me in a dark mostly empty parking lot.
Having introduced himself (to my politeness but utter lack of interest) he actually asked me to come to his car to get his "business card".
I swear the guy was some kind of deranged sick fuck. And I don't just mean he seemed gay. Looked very clean cut. Had glasses and wore nice clothes like he was a working man.
I have razor sharp instincts about people and he had the look and the vibe of a real sick fucking fuck. Is there a chance I was wrong? Sure. The desire to be part of something "special" is human nature. But I don't think it was that. He was weird. It's just strange to experience how this shit really happens.

True Fact - State Police were out, in force, where I live then. Not to protect the rural residents from the Antifa folks. To keep the Antifa folks, conveniently rioting in a major city right on the state border, from moving to the rural areas on the other side of the State Line and starting a chain of events nobody could stop.
That force included - and I know this for a fact, because I work in an area where they staged - sniper teams watching the bridges where the rioters could walk into definite No Go zones, as well as one rapid reaction force in case a few shots weren't enough to discourage the herd.

In fact, my wife (native Australian, not like me) was on her motorcycle doing some psycho ride, because the leader of her club is a psycho, saw a wombat on the side of the rode thinking it was dead, or injured, and she broke out of the line to pull over and try to care for the little wombat. The wombat was just fine, just taking a nap on the side of the rode, and my wife sat there with him till he started to move, and guided him away from the road.

If that is what she wanted to do, and did nothing else, that would be fine. But she sought the spotlight - and then did nothing with it. She'd show up on Fox, bat her eyes, blather on about...not much. Rinse, repeat. She could have build a platform, been like Reagan in the 60s/70s during his time as a speaker, made a case for conservatism. She had a huge fan base - conservatives loved her. But she did nothing with it. What a total waste of a great opportunity.

Where I live is Libertarian, or maybe just Contrarian. Went vastly Left to primary a Republican Senator here, because he voted for a TARP bill that sent money to California. Billboards went up because of it. County went Trump by about the same margin. County also pretty much stayed home for McCain vs. Obama, and didn't really turn out for W vs Kerry either.
The city I live in has every bit of 3500 people. Too many to know them all. But not so much that you don't recognize things that are out of place.

Ranked Choice Voting is unamerican. Those guys who didn't match the top two in each round essentially get to vote more than once. And the obscurity and time required allows huge room for voter fraud.
I used to work with a guy who was in love with it. If you are going to give extra votes to anyone, it shouldn't be the losers who pick the absolute worst candidates out there.

Yeah. One voter, one vote. If you really wanted to have a run-off with more than two candidates ? Then you have to have more than one vote. Drop the lowest vote getter each time. Maybe drop more than one, until the sum of their collective votes doesn't eclipse the highest vote getter.
If we get a do-over ? I'm for direct vote only for Congressional Reps anyway. Everything else goes through them, open vote.
