AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update. Prayer Requests:
5/28 – FortWorthMike requests prayers for his grandniece, Chloe, and her family, to find a kidney to transplant. Chloe is a toddler who has been on this prayer list before, and it has helped her. She was born with bad kidneys and had them removed soon after birth. She’s had multiple health issues, and is now getting daily dialysis at home. Her mother’s kidneys aren’t a match, and her father’s are a match, but are too large for her little body. Thanks for your prayers!
7/23 Update – Little Chloe is having a lot of bladder infections, as the medical team works to stretch her bladder (in preparation for receiving a kidney). There have been so many infections that her bladder may need to be removed. Please keep praying: for a kidney match, for her health, and for her worried family. 6/6 – Fox2! requests prayers for his niece-in-law, Courtney, who is expecting a son in August, but has had preterm labor for the last 3 weeks.
7/9 Update – The doctors will induce delivery on 7/13, if baby Waylon hasn’t decided to come on his own by then. Courtney is presenting warning signs of preeclampsia, so this is best for mother and baby. Please continue to include her in your prayers, and thank you.
7/15 Update – Baby Waylon arrived safely on 7/13. Mother and son are doing well, as is father and older sister. 7/2 – Jim Sunk New Dawn asks for prayers for more drivers at work. They’ve had bad luck with recent hires, and need responsible, detail-oriented people with solid work history. Jim is located near Galveston, TX. 7/2 – Prayers are needed for L, who has had a lifetime of mental problems. The Covid shutdown dealt him a severe blow and now he almost never emerges from his room. He may be suicidal. The hope is that medications can stabilize him. 7/2 – That Guy What Always Says Yeah Buddy asks for prayers for his wife’s health and the strength and fortitude for me to continue to be able to care for her. 7/2 – My Life Is Insanity could use prayers. Her mom passed away on 7/2. My Life Is Insanity had to spend this weekend at her own house, so she couldn’t be with her mom when she passed. Her son was with there, so mom/grandma wasn’t alone, but it’s killing My Life Is Insanity that she wasn’t with her when she died. She would appreciate prayers for her mom’s soul. 7/8 – TecumsehTea asks for prayers for her dearest friend, who came down with Covid and is very ill. She is almost 70 and severely immunocompromised. She did not vax and has made it thus far, but she traveled recently. She is taking ivermectin. The Lord holds her in His hand, and He’s in charge, but it doesn’t hurt to ask Him for healing.
7/19 Update – The friend is slowly improving with ivermectin. Her lungs remain clear, but she is still weak, in pain, and has headaches and fatigue and nausea. Even the meds for nausea made her gag and vomit! Thank you for your prayers. 7/9 – Prayers are needed for Lilibeth, who has had 2 recent surgeries for bladder cancer, but has not been able to start immunotherapy treatments due to a shortage of necessary drugs. 7/9 – Bear with asymmetrical balls asks for prayers. His bloodwork is showing reduced kidney function, and he’s feeling less than well. He is slowly working the problem with the doctor. 7/12 – My Pimp Shot My Dealer asked for prayers for T and her family. T is a 19 year old who hung herself, but it was not a clean kill, and she is in the ICU with the gravest of anoxic brain injuries. They are trying a salvage resuscitation to see if she will be eligible for organ donation. She was a very sweet young lady, another victim of pedo rape at a very young age, and lived the rest of her short life broken. 7/15 – Chi-Town Jerry requests prayers for his wife, who is in the hospital again with AFIB. Although she got back to regular rhythm in the ER, her kidney numbers concerned them and they are keeping her overnight on IV. Prayers are appreciated. 7/16 – ellipse (…asked for prayers for a work friend (of 18 years) and fantastic young lady named Lauren, who has been sick and away from work for 3 months.
7/19 Update - Lauren has Bell’s Palsy. She still needs prayers. … sends her appreciation for those who have already prayed, or even just sent vibes if that’s your thing. 7/18 – Diogenes asks for prayers for his godson, who just lost his 13-year-old son to a seizure/stroke. The boy had autism and began suffering from a series of strokes over the last few weeks. 7/18 – jewells45 could use some prayers, as she has been sick. Her daughter is in pain and struggling, too, after injuring her leg. 7/18 – Emmie asked for prayers for God’s guidance and His will do be done regarding the sale of their house. 7/19 – Fenelon Spoke asked for prayers as she attended the local Board of Education meeting, about the grooming of kids, transgenders, etc. The BOE is paying a group of LGBT teens to tell their stories, and the teacher’s union has had a drag queen show. Please pray for protection for the moms and dads defending their kids. 7/21 – Blanco asked for prayers for the family of former co-blogger Dave in Texas, who passed away recently. 7/23 – DM asks for prayers for his marriage. His wife of 36 years file for divorce. 7/23 – Count de Monet asked for prayers for his friend Cheryl, as she packs up and moves from Texas to Tennessee. Prayers for a smooth closing and safe travels are appreciated. 7/24 – t_bodie asked for prayers for his son’s girlfriend, who is in the ICU with a failing liver. It came on suddenly and caught everyone by surprise. Please lift K. up for healing and T. for strength. 7/26 – N.L.Urker needs a job badly, and prayers are appreciated. 7/26 – Nurse Ratched asked for prayers for Ann, who had a fall recently and is in ICU. She is recovering but has a long row to hoe.
7/28 Update – Ann is out of ICU and may be discharged to a rehab facility by the weekend. 7/26 – Timon asked for prayers. His sister’s son, age 19, was killed in a multi-vehicle accident near Louisville. He was in the Army and stationed at Fort Knox. He was heading home to celebrate his 1 year anniversary in the Army. 7/26 – Browndog requested prayers as a longtime friend of his was taken off life support after a massive heart attack last Friday. He never recovered consciousness. Unfortunately, he was vaxxed to the max. 7/26 – Zod could use some prayers as he recovers, apparently cleared of cancer. 7/28 – Bitter Clinger would like prayers for his mother, who is having breast cancer surgery today. ***7/26 - Nurse Ratched contacted Mis. Hum. about Empire 1. She is in the hospital ICU suffering from Congestive Heart Failure. Empire 1 is a sweet 'ette and is requesting prayers for her recovery. Good vibes sent. I learned first hand about Bell's Palsy as I had it happen to me back on January 11th of this year. Freaked me out at the time and thankfully I came on here asking for advice and people told me to get my ass to the ER.
Almost 7 months later and I have about 80% function back of my right eye and mouth. No more drooping and I can closed mouth smile. Open mouth smile not there yet as right side lower lip still will not work properly. And right eye, eyelid and eyebrow still not functioning 100% but it's slowly getting better.
So here's a speedy, full recovery for Lauren.
On a personal note, my hospital stay also diagnosed me Type 2 diabetic and high blood pressure. Over past 7 months, my blood glucose is now completely under control, blood pressure down to safe levels and have dropped from 350lbs to 295lbs with 2000 calorie diet. Goal is to continue the ~10lb/month pace and be back to 200lbs by this time next year.

Ya, they would shorten some songs to play them on AM radio. I remember I had a few 8-tracs that would have 1 long song on 2 tracs. The song would play for a bit, then the volume would go down and then change trac, and then the volume would come back up and finish the song. That was bogus, man.

Almost 7 months later and I have about 80% function back of my right eye and mouth. No more drooping and I can closed mouth smile. Open mouth smile not there yet as right side lower lip still will not work properly. And right eye, eyelid and eyebrow still not functioning 100% but it's slowly getting better.

From biting my lip constantly while trying to eat, to my eye watering all the time, to superficial things like not wanting to smile in public, because my mouth does not work properly. Plus my right eye seems more sensitive to sunlight than my eyes already had been. Vision has gotten worse in right eye as well, which had been my good eye.
It's about 2 weeks shy of 7 months for me. All the research I did in the beginning said that 75% of people get full function back within a year. Most people see good improvement within 4-6 months. That is where I am now. We'll see how it goes.

Update: Mom came through her surgery fine, the surgeon reported he had quite a bit of difficulty actually locating the tumor, which I think should be a good thing, but I don't know.
We are awaiting the results from the lymph node the was removed. Thanks for your prayers, God is good, always and forever, no matter the outcome.

Over past 7 months, my blood glucose is now completely under control, blood pressure down to safe levels and have dropped from 350lbs to 295lbs with 2000 calorie diet. Goal is to continue the ~10lb/month pace and be back to 200lbs by this time next year.

The notion that a regiment of HIMARS is going to turn the tide is ludicrous. It will take months to train crews to use them effectively and they can only affect maybe a 20 mile section of the front.

Another difference is that the polling is looking really bad for Dems right now. Hard to steal a wave election. If you go crazy, you'll end up with more ballots than people.
Also, the GOP is onto the trick and I'm told they have a small army of poll watchers who know the rules and will be recording every infraction.
Finally, the GOP legislative leadership this time around will be more confrontational and less willing to just go along to get along.

Congrats on the weight loss as well. I've noticed that I've got a 'red line' for my weight - once I cross it, my sleep quality declines, less energy, etc. I'd gotten a little lax and now I'm pushing myself to lose 10 pounds simply out of a desire for more physical comfort.
I had the same issues with not sleeping well a few years back. I am not sure if it was weight related, but I was waking up regularly every 2 hours needing to use the bathroom. This went on for months. I thought I had kidney or gall bladder issues or something. I kept fiddling with my pillows to try to get into a comfortable position to sleep and eventually I found one. But likely there was a weight aspect to it, as my weight gain was probably causing internal problems with pressure on my bladder or something.
I stupidly used to think that I was a "healthy" fat person. I was still playing softball and walleyball well even when at 275lbs. But I ballooned up to 325 and then eventually 350 over the past 5-6 years or so. Losing weight has improved lots of aspects of my life quality. Here's to you getting to your weight loss goal as well!

37 Ya, they would shorten some songs to play them on AM radio. I remember I had a few 8-tracs that would have 1 long song on 2 tracs. The song would play for a bit, then the volume would go down and then change trac, and then the volume would come back up and finish the song. That was bogus, man.

The notion that a regiment of HIMARS is going to turn the tide is ludicrous. It will take months to train crews to use them effectively and they can only affect maybe a 20 mile section of the front.

As I've posted previously, I gave up watching the situation closely because nothing could ever be confirmed and no story from either side could be trusted. But as far as I can tell, it looks to me like the war has devolved into a stalemate in current positions, with neither side being able to advance much and both sides running out of men and material. The only break will come as it came at the end of WW1, when one of the sides finally runs out of enough men and supplies to keep their effort going. And both could run out simultaneously.
But that hopium is sure addictive and it beats dealing with more pressing issues...

Yeah, my right eye went to pot too. Vision got all messed up and the watering is the worst. But I look on the bright side, at least it wasn't a stroke (which is what I originally thought). I just look goofy. I hope you have a 110 percent recovery!

Given my high blood glucose and seriously high blood pressure (200/something) at the time, everyone in the ER was worried it could be a stroke. But I was having no other signs of it other than the Bell's Palsy. All tests the next day showed I was otherwise healthy.
The Bell's Palsy ended up being a weird blessing in disguise. Because I don't get on this long-term meal plan to lose weight like this without that wake-up call.
Another wake-up call was seeing an actual stroke patient wheeled into the ER in the bed next to me that night. Heartbreaking to hear and see what he went through. Made me realize I had nothing to complain about and better get my health back on track.

The good news is though, only about 3-4 of the 28 inmates were likely to have been framed by corrupt cops, and railroaded by unethical prosecutors. Most of the rest won't be innocent of the crimes for which they were convicted... and of those, probably only about half are non-violent drug offenders who were convicted of offenses that aren't crimes in other states.

99 There is no "healthy fat" weight in my experience. As I've gotten older I've noticed even 10lbs affects my quality of life. Sleep. Joints. Energy level. I am 25lbs overweight right now but started at 40lbs over a month ago. Heading for 190.
It's trite, but setting a goal helps. Fiancee and I have a long-postponed (due to covid) vacation coming up. We want photos that we're going to be happy to look at, so both of us are working hard getting the weight down.

I'm pretty much resigned to things falling apart, but I do recognize that circumstances are changing. The GOPe squishes are going away and the new generation is pretty pissed about how things are.
Legislatures have a lot more power than they use, and if a critical mass of a GOP majority wants to, they can handcuff both governors and presidents.
The House could shut Biden down simply by breaking the budget up into departmental bills, which they used to do. They could discipline the DOJ by refusing to fund it.
It will be interesting to see how the primary goes in Michigan because of the 2 GOP reps who voted to impeach Trump, one got redistricted and is retiring and the other has a Trump-endorsed challenger.

The House could shut Biden down simply by breaking the budget up into departmental bills, which they used to do. They could discipline the DOJ by refusing to fund it.
It will be interesting to see how the primary goes in Michigan because of the 2 GOP reps who voted to impeach Trump, one got redistricted and is retiring and the other has a Trump-endorsed challenger.

From the few scraps of info I can glean, it looks like the Russians haven't made a territorial gain anywhere in a month now. They've hunkered down into defensive positions. And the neutralization of their Black Sea Fleet pretty much killed any chances of going for Odessa.

Thank you for the prayers last week for my friend Cheryl and her household move from Texas to Tennessee. She and her sons and her sons' friends got everything loaded into 3 trucks and hauled to the new house without incident (that she's told me about). Other than 1 non-working key for one door, the closing on the new house went smoothly and she's supervising the unloading of everything this weekend. Thanks bigly.

Putin's strategy made sense to me. Make a bold attempt to win the game in one throw, but have a grinding fallback plan knowing that the world has a short attention span and you have the ability to cut off Western Europe's energy supply.

There's a guy here in ABQ who runs a Breaking Bad RV tour company. It was so popular he had to expand to more RV's. You can ride around in an RV just like the one in the show and see the different sites they used for filming. Why would people pay for this? Fuck if I know.

A good place to follow the developments of the Ukraine war is Military Summary Channel on youtube. He does as good a job as can be expected, using both Western and Russian sourced maps and collaborating sources as much as possible. In a way it's dull to follow, because day-to-day the events aren't that exciting. Progress for the Russians is constant but generally slow, they come up to a Ukrainian defensive line, shell the sh*t out of it for a few days then send in infantry once it's softened up enough. Then it's on to the next Ukrainian defensive line.
I like the channel because I feel like I get a much better handle on what's going on, since Western media is so unreliable.

It's largely a siege war, as near as I can tell. Russia is staying on the outskirts of large areas rather than attack with meat-grinding tactics. Instead they shell and shell and shell and maintain fire-control over roadways and rail lines until Ukraine withdraws from areas or surrenders. In this way, Russia limits casualties and limits the destruction of infrastructure.
Probably the most disconcerting thing about the Ukraine conflict isn't actually the war.
What concerns me is the financial war. The proposed BRICS reserve currency is gonna have permanent effects on us going forward, IMO. This is easily overcome by repatriating manufacturing, but there are too many multi-national corporations in the pockets of our politicians to convince me they will abandon their cheap Chinese slave labor addiction easily.

I seem to recall a story that surfaced some number of years ago about a newly elected representative who was shocked to find out his primary responsibility was fundraising for the party. Not legislation. He'd be told how to vote when the time came. And paid accordingly. He served out his term and did not run again.
If I'm remembering correctly and the story is true and not a movie plot then I'd say the political system itself is a bigger issue than who gets selected to serve in congress. IMO that issue isn't going to be resolved by "voting" because you're not really affecting the political machine itself. Only the cogs in it. Cogs BTW that get a huge payoff for their votes.

Happy Saturday one and all. Yesterday was my birthday and I took the day off. Partly because I had the hours and partly because I needed to look after the dogs as my wife was taking her mother to the doctor for a follow up appointment to surgery on Thursday.

I'm all for it. The US dollar was at its most stable, strongest when it had to compete with rival currencies for value. Once it became the default currency, we could start debasing it without consequences.
I'd love to see the return of "bond vigilantes" turning the screws to the Fed. The Ukraine shows that our overclass is not only arrogant but stupid in its attempts to bully people. A correction is long overdue.

I seem to recall a story that surfaced some number of years ago about a newly elected representative who was shocked to find out his primary responsibility was fundraising for the party. Not legislation. He'd be told how to vote when the time came. And paid accordingly. He served out his term and did not run again.

If I'm remembering correctly and the story is true and not a movie plot then I'd say the political system itself is a bigger issue than who gets selected to serve in congress. IMO that issue isn't going to be resolved by "voting" because you're not really affecting the political machine itself. Only the cogs in it. Cogs BTW that get a huge payoff for their votes.

Congress abdicated all of its authority to the bureaucracy and judiciary years (decades) ago. That's why none of them actually read the bills they pass; that's why it doesn't matter if they pass unconstitutional stuff. Who care? The Courts will clean it up if there's a problem, the bureaucrats will continue to do what they do no matter what.
Pelosi's only real power is that she's the focus for the money flow from the Silicon Valley oligarchs, and she doles it out to those who vote the way she tells them to. And she in turn only does what the Oligarchs tell her to do.

The rep being told to raise money and vote with leadership is credible, particularly on the state level.
But as we've seen, it's possible to make waves even as a freshman by introducing bills (even if they no chance of passing) so I'm not sure about the whole "I gave up and quit" part of the story.
Most people would be fine with a no-show job and benefits.

30 On a personal note, my hospital stay also diagnosed me Type 2 diabetic and high blood pressure. Over past 7 months, my blood glucose is now completely under control, blood pressure down to safe levels and have dropped from 350lbs to 295lbs with 2000 calorie diet. Goal is to continue the ~10lb/month pace and be back to 200lbs by this time next year.

Whitmer and her staff thought this was a sick burn, but in fact it is monumentally tone-deaf and she's going to get endless blowback on it. I don't care how pro-choice you are, cutting aid to pregnant poor women is the epitome of being hard-hearted. When Dems had actual political instincts, they accused Republicans of doing this.
If Dixon wins the nom, she's going to constantly talk about the cruelty of Whitmer telling poor women to go kill their babies. That's going to crush the liberal soccer mom vote.

I doubt that's the plan. From what I understand, it's extremely difficult to transport and reinstall that equipment in the best of circumstances, much less in a shooting war. More likely, the Taiwanese would destroy the equipment rather than let the PRC get it.

So kid2 was here last weekend and we opened the boxes from my MIL's house which included boxes from her parents' home. Some of it was tossable, but there were family photos from the 1800s and a pile of old diplomas, broadway programs from the 1900-05 period, many old documents, and a lot of old crystal, sterling and wedgwood. Kid2 took lots of it home to VA, but we're still sifting through the papers

Ya, they would shorten some songs to play them on AM radio. I remember I had a few 8-tracs that would have 1 long song on 2 tracs. The song would play for a bit, then the volume would go down and then change trac, and then the volume would come back up and finish the song. That was bogus, man.

That was done to enable mass duping of the tapes. A friend had an 8-track recorder, which I used a couple of times, and you could record right through the track change, and just get a fractional-second dropout.

That was done to enable mass duping of the tapes. A friend had an 8-track recorder, which I used a couple of times, and you could record right through the track change, and just get a fractional-second dropout.
