A little something for everybody.

"Not today, dog."

Explorin'.

Supermen crossing.

Rain dance.

Another rain dance.

They're having a Free Peanut promotion.

Petting a nice whale.

Not all river otters are bad, nurse ratchet.

Sea otters lounging in a spa, in case nurse ratchet is too triggered by the river otter.

Dogs just want to be involved.

One of these things is not like the others:

Poor guy can't actually pick up the ball! But he is eager to play anyway.

I would like to buy that sheep a beer.

Here's a lamb trying to play chase with a dog, who isn't that interested, for some reason.

This is insane:

Porto & Lisbon are two hidden gems. Seafood, wine are great; prices dirt cheap and people are nicest in Europe.
The middle of the country is great also.

Spring & Fall best time to go. I try to get there once a year if I can swing it.

9 Nice photo up top.

The next link down, I am always fascinated by historical movies or photos that are colorized well. I remember (and I have the DVD somewhere) where it is a color movie from the 30s at some rally for the Nazi's in Austria (a Party celebration.) I remember the effect is both to make it feel more real, but also... it looks so tawdry. Garish. Not sure I am using the right word. Tacky?

If you like port, hit the Port Wine Museum, at the top of the funicular. Hundreds of ports by the glass, deep leather couches. For dinner, just wander around the upper town, where the slow street cars are, find a neighborhood restaurant. Have their cod special, with their own wine from their countryside fazenda. Can't go wrong.

If you have time during the day, walk around the al-Fama, or tour the convent and the tower near the port.

115 Shaun King’s social justice PAC is going to the dogs. Literally.

Grassroots Law PAC, which the progressive grifter founded to elect soft-on-crime local officials, paid roughly $40,000 since December to the California-based Potrero Performance Dogs, according to campaign finance disclosures. The payments are labeled for “contractor services,” making their purpose difficult to discern. But days after a $30,650 payment in February, King welcomed a “new member of the King family”: an award-winning mastiff bred by Potrero named Marz.

Oh gosh, I hate that sound. When my husband and I were newly married and bought a brand-new townhouse, we discovered we had a mouse a day or two later. So he set traps under the stove and in the sink cupboard, which was empty. A couple hours later we heard SNAP! and then thunk thunk thunk as it bounced in the empty cupboard. It was awful.

The next morning there was another mouse in the trap under the stove. I told my husband I wanted to move.

151 Mouseman story
Setting:
Summertime, home, alone, bedtime, dog downstairs in crate.
About 2:30am I hear a thump and then what seemed to be noise in the back hall. I groggily get out of bed, only to hear louder scrabbling and now think there's an intruder in the house.
Of course my weaponry is on the third floor, so I retire to the bathroom and lock the second set of doors.
I try to dial 911, but I have so much adrenaline pumping through my body, I can hardly hit the buttons.
No sooner had I hung up on 911 then about five squad cars come racing up in silent mode, but lights flashing.
I get a call back from the police asking if I can come to the door. I reply that I still hear movement in the house, and no I'm not coming down.

I answer the door (forgetting that I'm only wearing boxers) to find 4 female officers that responded to the call. They try not to laugh at me too much, and ask permission to check out the house.
Finding nothing unusual, they put about to leave, only to hear loud scrabbling in the 2nd floor hallway. Now guns are drawn and they rush up the front and back stairs in hopes of catching the perp.
A hot minute later they all reappear in the front hall holding a mousetrap with a mouse under the bar, but not dead. The damn thing had been running up and down the hall (which were bare, hardwood floors) on it's two good legs.

My old apartment attracts bats occasionally. First time one got stuck flying circles in my office was spooky as hell. 177 I used to work for a company that sold bagged bat guano as organic fertilizer. It was brutal, I was the only one who did well because my skin was oily and wouldn't peel under the respirator. It was really stinky with the ammonia, but I got a collection of bat skulls out of it. I threw them out later.

Bat guano hosts nasty fungus es that can colonize your lungs, which the owners didn't know when they started the product line.

It and the blood meal were the bomb. We had the greenest mud puddles in town from the runoff from our loading dock.

Nasty stuff though

178 Mouseman (cont 5)

It was then I noticed that the neighbors were up and doing their best impressions of Gladys Kravitz, peering through the break in the curtains.

I finish my dogwalk, the police drive off, the mouse...who knows.

I call my bride, and relay the incident to her...."Oh honey, I had the spare heir put traps under the cabinet in the hall...I thought you knew?!?!?

No I didn't, but I surely would have liked the heads up, would have avoided a lot of embarrassment

I guess one of the neighbors called her in the early AM and got the rundown on the nights happenings, because as I go to get into my car, I hear the guy across the street yell: HEY MOUSEMAN, WANT A CAT???

Somewhere on an aging VHS-C cartridge I have 4 dogs and a goat charging a fence line to bark (and bleat) at those arrogant enough to pass by our rural home; when playing with a ball, the goat would position herself over the ball the dogs had been playing with, and headbut lightly any canine attempting to reacquire the ball.

Lacks panache. I'd prefer he modify the Dead Parrot soliloquy.

E's not pinin'! 'E's passed on! This terrorist is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies! 'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-TERRORIST!!

263 One of his stand-ins. I think there are four of them.

The real Biden is the one that makes racist comments and bangs his fists.

Personally, my favorite is the one that does the creepy whisper. Posted by: Bitter Clinger at August 01, 2022 09:34 PM (/HvPV)

Which one is the sniffer?

Trick Question: They all are!

Lack of preparation can have horrible consequences. Thoughts and prayers.

Or just go out and buy some beer.

279 214. That's a potentially severe health hazard! Indoor air quality tests...why? Seems like a waste of $. That's a severe health hazard.

Was the house owner occupied when you bought it? Who arranged for house inspection? What do the disclosure forms say about infestations, vermin/pests? We're standard disclosure forms used? Not a lawyer ...was a broker involved? Who arranged mortgage? I'd be haunting the realtor because it's extremely unlikely a colony of bats that large was unknown & not smelling the place up.

I've been there, having defects not properly disclosed for homeownership. Best of luck to you.
