The Honest Straight-Shooters at the FBI Not Only Improperly Closed the Hunter Biden Laptop Case Without Cause, They Then Deliberately Buried Information In Hidden Sub-Folders So That No Other Analysts Could Find It

Margot Cleveland at The Federalist writes that this is worse than we initially thought.

Late Monday, Grassley issued a news release citing "multiple FBI whistleblowers, including those in senior positions," who raised "the alarm about tampering by senior FBI and Justice Department officials in politically sensitive investigations," including "investigative activity involving derogatory information on Hunter Biden's financial and foreign business activities." According to the Iowa Republican, the whistleblowers alleged that Washington Field Office Assistant Special Agent in Charge Timothy "Thibault and other FBI officials sought to falsely portray as disinformation evidence acquired from multiple sources that provided the FBI derogatory information related to Hunter Biden's financial and foreign business activities, even though some of that information had already been or could be verified."

The news release added that "in August of 2020, FBI supervisory intelligence analyst Brian Auten opened an assessment, which was used by a team of agents at FBI headquarters to improperly discredit and falsely claim that derogatory information about Biden's activities was disinformation, causing investigative activity and sourcing to be shut down." "The FBI headquarters team allegedly placed their assessment findings in a restricted access subfolder, effectively flagging sources and derogatory evidence related to Hunter Biden as disinformation while shielding the justification for such findings from scrutiny," according to Grassley.

The Iowa senator claimed that "Thibault also reportedly ordered the closure of a stream of information related to Hunter Biden and sought to improperly mark the matter within FBI systems in a way that would prevent it from being re-opened in the future." "The FBI headquarters team allegedly claimed that reporting from the stream was at risk of disinformation," but the whistleblowers told Grassley, "that all of the information obtained through that stream was already verified or verifiable."

The FBI whistleblowers' charges, if accurate, are devastating and mean that at a time that Hunter Biden was already reportedly under investigation by the Delaware U.S. Attorney's Office, rather than work with the agents already investigating then-candidate Joe Biden's son, FBI headquarters initiated its own "assessment." Then, according to the whistleblowers, agents improperly shut down sources, falsely framed evidence as disinformation, and hid the reasoning for that determination from other FBI agents behind restricted areas.

Margot Cleveland has more -- read her article about the fake "defense briefing" the FBI arranged for Ron Johnson a pretext, for the singular purpose of later leaking the existence of that briefing to the Washington Post so they could say, "We told Johnson he was being manipulated by RUSSIAN DISINFORMATION."

A little more from Catherine Herridge.

He said whistleblowers from federal law enforcement came forward to his office after a May 31 letter he had written noted a "pattern of active public partisanship in his then public social media content," in reference to Thibault.

He was a very loud and very strident leftwing anti-Trump liberal on social media.

So of course he's trusted with analyzing whether Trump's opponent's son's laptop -- showing shady business dealings with Chinese spymasters and Russian gangsters -- was authentic.

What other ringer would the FBI assign to it? They know who they're voting for; they know which way they want the report to come out.

Today's FBI -- Yesterday's Mafia.

In that May 31 letter, Grassley also accused Thibault of likely violations of "[f]ederal laws, regulations and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) guidelines."

"Whistleblowers have reported to me, that although the FBI and Justice Department maintain policies dictating specific standards requiring substantial factual predication to initiate an investigation, Thibault and other Justice Department and FBI employees failed to comply with these requirements."

The letter also singled out Justice Department official Richard Pilger, identified as the director of the Election Crimes Branch within the Justice Department's Public Integrity Section, who, along with Thibault, were alleged to be "deeply involved in the decisions to open and pursue this investigation," an apparent reference to a probe recently opened into the Trump campaign.

Oh and they put this vocal public Trump hater on that, too.

Perfect.

Grassley told Wray and Garland "the opening memo you approved," included media reporting citing research from a "liberal non-profit" when a full investigation of a political nature requires "a heightened factual basis."

Oh and they're citing "research" from Brookings or Media Matters or whatever leftwing "non-profit."

Again, perfect.

For years we on the right have operated under the assumption that the rank-and-file agents of the FBI were good, honest people who wouldn't accept corrupt practices. It turns out, there are only a handful of such people.

My advice to anyone who deals with the FBI is DON'T. Do not voluntarily tell them anything. Do not give them any information. Do not let them look at anything without a warrant and challenge the warrant if they get one b/c it probably was obtained illegally anyway.

If you are on a grand jury or regular jury - disbelieve anything any FBI agent says or testifies to b/c most likely it is a lie.

If you see FBI agents going after someone - assume the person being chased is being set up and if you can, assist that person in evading the FBI.

Because the FBI is now officially the Stazi. They are the East German secret police. They are not to be trusted in any capacity. They are to be hindered at every opportunity.

The Republicans are winning nothing unless you call taking peoples rights away, supporting a coup, winning.

I think we will hold the House too Women's body autonomy rights are going to drive a massive wave of people to the polls...Inflation is starting to ease... Jobs market is still strong. And if we pass this major climate change bill, it will be 3 massive bills Biden has gotten done, the American Rescue Plan, the bipartisan infrastructure bill, and this climate change/deficit reduction bill. Each of them will be the largest legislative achievements for a President since the ACA was passed in the early Obama administration.

The FBI is setting up/spying on citizens and particularly citizens with the "wrong" politics. That's east German secret police stuff.

The media/left/dems are literally changing definitions of tons of words - that's is literally "1984". The gov't is staging a Soviet "show trial" of a former President and his supporters.

DOJ is holding political prisoners (Jan 6 protesters) without bail and getting maximum felony sentences against them for protesting.

The dems/left/media created, funded, and urge on brown-shirts in the form of Anti-fa and BLM to engage in political violence. There is no America left.

The entire banking and economic system of the world is overleveraged and has been for fifty years. It is getting to the point that the cracks can't be papered over any more, and the whole edifice of make-believe is about to collapse
Add to that a class of leadership that thinks it is an aristocracy with no accountability to the populaces they feel they command, and a predatory class that has so far had proof that no law can touch them no matter what crime they commit because of their status.

The game now for them is to save as much assets from the crash as possible and come back and set themselves as masters over the smoldering waste they made everyone inherit.
Our goal is to survive, with our families and communities intact

Amazon is getting hit by consumer spending drawback and probably a bit harder than most as many items purchased from them are not necessities. Whole Foods is vulnerable because organic high cost items don't sell as well when consumers draw back spending as they are luxury goods comparatively. McDonalds and one other chain drive in also gave caution to forward earnings as both saw consumers switching to cheaper items, dropping add ons, and simply not coming to stores at all.

420 JAMA had a good electoral analysis of abortion politics in the 90s showing it came out as a net advantage for the GOP because (a) only a tiny sliver of the electorate voted based on this issue; (b) more of that tiny sliver was pro-life than pro-choice. Reversing Roe v. Wade could change that dynamic, but we probably won't really know for a decade or so, until after state legislatures have done their thing and additional litigation has occurred. Whatever effect it has on midterms likely won't reflect any new consensus. Too soon for that.

Posted by: bear with asymmetrical balls at July 29, 2022 02:05 PM (ppBhU)

421 Effectively, laws that grant powers to agencies usually specify individuals that can push through things like regulations, forward budget requests, and these are appointed positions requiring Senate confirmation.

For anyone that wants some basic lessons in bureaucracy versus politicians, I advise watching Yes Minister and the later Yes Prime Minister series from the BBC during the 70's and 80's. They had actual show advisors behind the scenes that provided real life examples of the constant fight between bureaucracy and a politician. Highly recommended for both the characters and the script writing.
This idea that you can run government like a bizness or the Army is simply wrong because both Congress and the judiciary along with the bureaucracy get a say in what you do. FDR was not the brightest tool in the shed but he was expert at manipulating his appointees and agencies to get what he wanted. Even he lost a few rounds with Congress though and the Courts early in his terms of office.

lol Bet you fell for the "Oz removed Trump's endorsement and picture from his campaign website" lie too.

First, Trump already won - he stopped McConnell's boy McCormick from getting the nomination despite Poso and other blue check "conservatives" on Twitter trying to help him get in by boosting the dumpster fire Barnette (no money, no staff, no campaigning outside her own area) to split the MAGA vote.

Second, it gives me pause to see that Poso et al are now working overtime to help elect the commie Fetterman. I guess the difference between McCormick and Fetterman to the establishment isn't much.
