Noted Highway Rumble Strip Steven King Gets Punked by Comedians Into Thinking He's On the Phone With Zelenskyy; Winds Up Praising Ukrainian N@zi Stephan Bandera

Questions have resurfaced about the mighty piles of cocaine Steven King snorted from the 70s through the 90s.

Oh, Steven King got his stupid ass run over on the highway in the early 2000s (IIRC). That's why I'm calling him a rumble strip, at Aetius' suggestion.

There's an update to this story.

First, the video:

Yesterday, he denied this ever happened-- despite there being video of the call.

But... it did happen.

I can hear your words and see your lips moving to match them: "On the whole, Bandera is a great man," you say.

The comedians even explained to King that Bandera had a small little tiny problem of maybe executing some Jewish people for the N@zis, so King knew what he was excusing, and who he was calling "a great man."

And who he was likening to "Washington and Jefferson"!

What's he claiming -- deep fake?

Fun: We Hate Movies' rip on the awful movie Dreamcatcher -- made from one of Steven King's most wretchedly stupid, first-draft turd novels -- is a hell of a lot of fun.

You don't need to have seen the movie. I've only seen ten minutes here-and-there of it myself. I know the movie just from this podcast.

This doesn't mean all of the Uke are Neo-NAZIs but...some are. And until 2022 that made them beyond the pale according the the FNM, the Democrats, and all of our betters.

99 So... Question.

A quick online search of this guy (who I hadn't heard of before) says he was arrested by the Nazis following their invasion of Ukraine because he declared himself and his organization the head of an independent Ukraine that would cooperate with Nazi Germany. So he essentially spent from the start of Barbarossa until 1944 in a German prison. Then the Nazis hauled him out to send him back into Ukraine (which the Soviets had retaken that summer) to operate behind Soviet lines as a partisan leader.

My question is -

110 His book about traveling back in time to stop the Kennedy assassination was one of the grandest fusterclucks of narrative-unraveling and idiotic confirmation bias that I've ever read. If I recall correctly, the long string of consequences that derived from Kennedy not getting his head blown off culminated in Hillary never getting to be president. Result: world in chaos. 140 The Election Integrity Partnership was formed in late 2020. It was initially funded by the government (CISA) and Stanford University to address any expected complaints in the upcoming election. A report created by the EIP shared damning information on this group.

The initial idea for the Partnership came from four students that the Stanford Internet Observatory (SIO) funded to complete volunteer internships at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) at the Department of Homeland Security. Responsibility for election information security is divided across government offices: CISA has authority to coordinate on cybersecurity issues related to the election, the FBI to investigate cyber incidents and enforce election laws, and intelligence agencies to monitor for foreign interference. Yet, no government agency in the United States has the explicit mandate to monitor and correct election mis- and disinformation.

I can acknowledge that he knows way more about writing popular fiction than I do, and about the publishing industry. You know more than me about whatever you wrote about. I know more than you or King about what I wrote my book about. The Horde authors and certainly someone like King know a lot more about publishing than I do, since they have written more books and dealt with it more.

So Stephen King's advice on story, writing, publishing, etc. might be valuable. Outside of that sphere, it's just his opinion in other areas and it carries no more weight than anyone else's opinion and I might agree with it or not. He got trolled, but can't acknowledge that his ego got in the way and so he got rooked. That's the real problem. As you say, he appears to be drinking his own Kool-Aide.

191 I can acknowledge that he knows way more about writing popular fiction than I do, and about the publishing industry.

268 King despises Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, probably the best film adaptation of any of his books. Tells you everything you need to know about the narrow in which the guy should stay...

I don't really blame King here. It's a good movie in many ways (despite horrible casting). But Kubrick is so into doing his own thing that he doesn't really adapt it.

275 Christine was the last Stephan King book I read. But, as a bookseller, I thought King was great! He has a really devoted following who will go so far as to buy his hardbacks. Hardback sales are really good sales. Profit percentage is the same as a mass market, but the numbers are much bigger.

The whole point of the Monster Hunter series is to take B-movie plots/monsters and then make the heroes reasonably intelligent and extremely well armed. 350 If you read the Bannon case carefully, you realize that he has a legitimate beef - the Congressional subpoena must be served by a legitimate someone that my issue such a subpoena - and it's pretty clear that the j6 committee is not that - otherwise, Merrick Garland would have already charged Trump with murder at their behest, at the very least.

No, this is complicated and thus over the head of any lefty media type writing doofus 'make a wish' articles over at ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC or CNN. No one is going to jail or getting raped in solitary, or the working on a roadside Louisianan chain gang as the courts sorts out compliance issues that will be used as precedent for some time

The absolute *king* of novel bloat is Tad Williams. By his own admission, he is physically incapable of writing a trilogy. He wrote THREE series that had to be extended to a quadrilogy because he couldn't wrap up the storylines in the last novel. To Green Angel Tower, the last book in the Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy, was split into two books for the paperback editions. But he's talented enough to make it work.

Correct, according to congressional rules, they are not a legitimate committee and you can legally blow them off, but they can really make you suffer while you fight to prove that in court.

The lower federal courts will defer to Congress on all questions about the legality of actions by Congress.

No way will any district court judge say that a committee that SHALL have 13 members, including 5 appointed by the Minority Leader is illegal because it only has 8 Democrats and two "republicans" appointed by the Democrat Majority Leader, even if it is illegally constituted. Lower Courts will defer to the other Branch of the Government, Congress in all things Congressional.

Bannon will have to fight this all the way to SCOTUS to even have a chance someone MIGHT say the J6 Committe of 10 people, including 2 Democrat appointed quisling republicans is not the SHALL BE 13 including 5 APPOINTED by the Minority Leader as stated in the Resolution.

Worse? The Congress has Subpoena authority in ONLY two cases... they need to ask questions to fashion legislation, or Government Oversite.

They are not fashioning legislation, and they are not investigating actual government people.... Bannon was not in government service Jan 6 at all.

They are trying to enforce Law, which is the job of the Executive Branch, AND trying to find Guilt, the job of the Judicial Branch.

Courts should have already shut this show down, but won't.

As for the D&D movie trailer... um well lets hope the plotting is better than the cutesy jokester dialog. Good to see them leaning heavily on the monster mythos at least.
