ORLANDO, Fla. —
The city of Orlando has released an apology after controversy arose following a statement on an upcoming Fourth of July event.

In their original statement, the city of Orlando said:

"A lot of people probably don't want to celebrate our nation right now, and we can't blame them. When there is so much division, hate and unrest, why on earth would you want to have a party celebrating any of it?

Texas police destroy home, then try to leave without paying

41 I remember in the late nineties Budweiser was popular in those London discos that charge $15 a drink for the first two as a cover. I guess it made as much sense as some of the trends we like because they are foreign and exotic. Too bad because they hade the legit Budvar, the original and much better Budweiser available. But that very good beer never had “it” with the clubbing types.

On top of that, my socialist son chose not to participate in the church choir's numbers today because they were all patriotic songs. He already thinks the U.S. is no great shakes, and the Dobbs decision was the capper for him.

Well, I'll stand with Weasel and put up the flag and walk in the parade organized by our church. We patriots on the right are down but not out.

80 On top of that, my socialist son chose not to participate in the church choir's numbers today because they were all patriotic songs. He already thinks the U.S. is no great shakes, and the Dobbs decision was the capper for him.

Well, I'll stand with Weasel and put up the flag and walk in the parade organized by our church. We patriots on the right are down but not out.

Thank you, Weasel.

Poor little Remy would be outside, enjoying herself, and some damn fool would light off a baby Black Cat. Two seconds later, Remy would be beating on the door to come in. Come the 4th, I would sit up with her all night long. Her partner in crime, Tip-C, couldn't have cared less. Armageddon itself could have been raining down, and she would be flopped on her back, sleeping through the whole thing.

162 When I was a kid, the fireworks show on the Fourth was something to expect with excitement.

But these days, so many ball games have fireworks displays that they've lost all meaning.

For that matter, I've never seen the fascination with watching parades. But for that I'll blame high school band days. Every dinky burg had to have its homecoming parade.

I remember one that went for half a block. Whee.

Because I give blood regularly, they did a Covid test on my blood that I didn't even know they would, and that was when I found out that towards the end of last year, I got Covid and got over it and never even noticed having it. So now I test positive for all the antibodies.

Your "infant" reminds me of an old puzzle that used the idea of soundalike words to suggest a phrase. Telegrams charged by the word, so a single word that represented two or more words saved money. For example: "canoe" for "can you."

Anybody here ever heard of this?

"So, yeah, Mr. Dugard paid me to wear the pig suit at the 4th of July parade, and I took the money - what was I gonna do? But I passed out from the heat at the end, it was 110 deg inside that fuckin suit, and that giant pig head l was 'awearin' was logging down to my knees in the back of that open Buick like a hooker on 10th avenue. That's when the squirrel ran up my leg and bit me in the boobies - thank goodness for my lil' nephew Cletis who slapped that squirrel off of me and rescued my ass! I made 10 dollars."

VA is far from the leader now. Much of legislation in the 90s precluded local government from enacting gun bans. When the Dems took over everything around 2016, it went to Hell. I still want to see Youngkin do something pro 2A.

Back in 1974 I stopped at a place off the highway in Texas that advertised a 72 ounce steak. If you could then eat it with one baked potato and a small bread roll then it was on the house. The waitresses had menus in hip holsters. Anyone know of it? I don't remember the road but we were coming from CA and via the Grand Canyon. I think we went north then into OK, MO (St. Louis), probably passed close to where I am now in IL, on our way back to Cambridge MA.
We had a regular 16 oz steak and fries and it was good. Had a boardwalk outside front.

I heard him jump onto the ledge below my back window which I normally keep open for PG, but as she was already in the house, I took my phone flashlight to see whatever it was had made that noise - could be a cat or a raccoon. Either one would not want to be sticking around when that light is shined in its face. Sure enough, little dude jumped down. I closed the window so PG could not go after him then went out the back door. He was down on the patio, a flight of stairs and 30' away but because the rear porch light was on, he could see me in the light. So he stopped and remembered that I give him treats. *Gave* him treats. Broke my heart but I just can't feed the little fella since PG *hates* his scent. He got it on me the other day and she attacked me. Sad.

472 Back in 1974 I stopped at a place off the highway in Texas that advertised a 72 ounce steak.

So through the night rode Paul Revere;
And so through the night went his cry of alarm
To every Middlesex village and farm,—
A cry of defiance, and not of fear,
A voice in the darkness, a knock at the door,
And a word that shall echo forevermore!
For, borne on the night-wind of the Past,
Through all our history, to the last,
In the hour of darkness and peril and need,
The people will waken and listen to hear
The hurrying hoof-beats of that steed,
And the midnight message of Paul Revere.

Supposedly one Sybil Ludington, but some think it's fake history.

Smithsonian Magazine: https://tinyurl.com/5n6e524u

There are a lot of stories about the American revolution, and many of them are at least partially untrue.

Paul Revere, for instance, wasn't the only one on the midnight ride. And Sybil Ludington -- the young woman who has gone down in history as a female version of Paul Revere, riding through the surrounding area of what would become New York -- may never have ridden at all, at least according to one historian.

Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors is the only one I've read. The author (James Hornfischer) died, an untimely thing as he wasn't very old, last year or the year before.

I recall one regular HQ commenter from TX years back who'd read the book, emailed Hornfischer (who lived somewhere in TX), the author responded, and they had lunch.

I've never looked to see if there were any Japanese accounts of the battle. Not even sure the primary materials exist on that side, which is shameful, as by now I should know. Some contact with the JMSDF, though of course not the equivalent of their historical section (if they have one?).

It is truly amazing to think that we used to have armed forces capable of waging and winning war on the land the sea and in the air. Now our armed forces wear rainbow pins and they can't prevail against an army in a backwater shithole like Afghanistan. Liberals have changed the rules of engagement, thereby ensuring that we shall never achieve victory again. As a resident of Massachusetts I feel completely to blame, both General Mark Milley and Rear Admiral Richard/Rachel Levine hail from Massachusetts and were high school classmates and fellow football team members at the exclusive Belmont Hill School. Also see South Africa. Grid collapse. Rolling blackouts. Demand exceeds supply, by a long shot. They're sitting on a shit ton of coal, but nope, green policies have shut that down in favor of solar and wind and shit.

Re collard greens: Couple of neighbors of mine, senior and junior. They were big gardeners. Sonny got in his head he wanted to grow collard greens one time. Senior was disapproving. He told Sonny he wasn't going to tolerate them.

Junior went ahead and planted some. Senior said nothing for a while. One day Sonny came home from work, and found all his collards had been yanked up by the roots and destroyed.

647 The Air Force always had the best chow and golf courses. Actually the Army had the best course but that was a one off.

Navy chow is good because if it wasn’t there would be a mutiny. The Army is pretty much middle of the road, and as usual, the Marines do their own thing.

I don’t know about stockades. The worst golf course I played was at Little Creek. Even then I blasted the course but gave them credit for attending to other issues.

Another senior and junior story. There in the later years, Sonny did most of the work, and senior sort of supervised. He did do the spraying.

One time Sonny came back home and asked Senior did he get the sprayin' done. He said nope, 'cause I "fixed my sprayer". He told Sonny to get a new one.

That sprayer had got clogged up, and senior messed around with it and messed around, and couldn't get it right. He took an axe to it and chopped it up.

Harley's hat. Sonny's hoe. Ol' Red's hooch bottle might be another good one, if you could find it.

Ol' Red, in his honky-tonkin' days, used to keep a bottle of likker under his front seat of his car. Someone found about it, and starting stealing his likker. He'd come back to the car, get read to take a swig, and he'd find the bottle empty.

He got enough of that after a while. So he took an empty bottle, pissed in it, and left that under the seat. He came out to get back in his car, and the next thing he knows, he's coming to on the ground with a very sore head, and covered in his own piss.

The likker thief, upon realizing his punch had been spiked so to speak, laid in wait for Ol' Red. He hit him over the heat with the bottle, then poured the contents on his face.

From what I'm seeing of the "axe to grind" etymology, it is taken to mean "grievance", as in "I've got an axe to grind with him.", but that it originally meant "hidden agenda".

The Ben Franklin story involved young Ben being tricked into doing a lot of work to grind a brand new axe for this fellow. He flattered young Ben and his family, and tricked Ben into doing the work for him.

And then there are some claims of other, different origins, but involve trickery of axe grinding.

Some of these people are aware of their famous names. Just recently I ran into a Holliday, Sickles, and Trimble. Historians will know those names. The Sickles guy is a big time Dem.

The Government giving the Pharmas which produce the jabs immunity from lawsuits is a big factor, too. If they had to have half the warnings on the jabs that prescription drugs advertised on tv have, no one would even think of getting a jab.

Read that Bad Cat article. What is going there is....abomination. There are now 58 VAERS reports of serious mRNA adverse events for children under 3 yrs. old.

Three years old. The only legal way that those should have been jabbed is under clinical trials. But Pfizer's kiddie trials don't include but one serious AE report that they attribute to the vaccine.

One of those includes a 2 month old. Who went into cardiac arrest less than 2 hours after receiving the dose.

Who the fuck was that. 2months old is way too young even for Pfizer's latest kiddie trial, which was for 6 months and up. So, are they doing more secret trials with even younger babies? The contact info for that report is to a Pfizer adjacent healthcare outfit.

Calling the jab a 'vaccine' allows the virtue-signalers who get their kids jabbed to scream at those 'anti-vaxxers' who put everybody's kids at risk.

One more way to keep the People distracted from the current disastrous situation by having us at each other's throats.

As much as Russell Brand is a lefty, this is his basic message: That we are being manipulated by distractions to keep us apart because we might just have areas of agreement and TPTB do not want us agreeing with each other and against them. By keeping us distracted and at each other' throats, we have no power and they win.
