The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“The general public is not aware of the degree to which unions control the Democratic Party. One does not need to speculate on this point,” Elon Musk

Quote II

“The majority of people in America get their information from the news, but the news only really pays attention to these extreme outlier attacks. They are deadly and horrible, but they are not very common. But it is what we see in the news and that creates the perception that this is the biggest problem.” Joel Capellan, a criminology professor at Rowan University

Quote III

“And so I think to determine whether justice was done in this case you’re going to have to wait and see how it all comes out on the civil side of things and then through the NFL on the administrative side of things. And people will then determine whether that’s justice.”Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg

But don't dare call the January 6th event in D.C. a "dust-up".

11 - 82 year old men hardest hit.

A device that can detect when a man is watching pornography by “reading his mind” has been developed in China, according to the research team in Beijing behind the project.
The device, which could speed up the work of censors trying to spot indecent images on the Chinese internet, is worn on the head by the subject and can pick up a spike in the brainwaves triggered by explicit content, according to the researchers.

Rhetoric much?

Hours after former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens released a video saying he would hunt members of the Republican party who he considered not conservative enough, the Republican floor leader of the Missouri state Senate said he had contacted law enforcement. “We have been in contact with the Missouri Highway Patrol and hope that former Gov Greitens finds the help he needs,” Senate Majority Leader Caleb Rowden posted on Twitter Monday. “Anyone with multiple accusations of abuse toward women and children should probably steer clear of this rhetoric.”

Well now they will never have that chance to turn their lives around. Awww shucks.

The resident of a Connecticut home fatally shot a pair of male teenagers — 15 and 16 — who forced their way into the East Hartford residence last week and physically attacked the resident, police told WTIC-TV.

What are the details?
Police said the unnamed teens were shot in the living room, the station reported. The incident took place early Thursday morning, CT Insider said. Police were called to the home just after midnight, WTIC noted.

Police added to WTIC that the teens were rushed to hospitals, where they were pronounced dead.

Great gun control, resident hit both targets.

There is no such thing as "Free Love".

A man has revealed he's splurged an eye-watering £9,000 on his wives for Valentine's Day in Brazil.

Arthur O Urso made headlines when he married nine women to celebrate "free love".

He recently went through a divorce with one of his wives as he now has a total of eight special women in his life.

Now to celebrate his love for them, Arthur decided to buy them gifts for Brazilian Valentine's Day which took place on June 12.

The next John McCain is TX Rep. Dan Crenshaw. And he has the temper to prove it.

Representative Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) was confronted by conservative activists for his controversial stances regarding “red flag laws” and using American tax dollars to fund Ukraine’s war effort against Russia, as well as his connections to the World Economic Forum (WEF). Among those who confronted the Congressman was Alex Stein, a prominent YouTuber and conservative activist. Stein is also a delegate for the Texas State legislature.
When confronting Crenshaw, Stein called him “Eyepatch McCain” and “Globalist RINO”, a dig at Crenshaw’s neoconservative foreign policy stances and moderate stances on cultural issues affecting Americans. Stein even likened him to late Senator and GOP Presidential nominee John McCain.

Nothing to see here. Move along, please.

On Sunday, Breitbart reported the liberal pro-abortion terrorist group, “Jane’s Revenge,” announced what it called a “Night of Rage” set for the day the Supreme Court overturns the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.

“Within the month we anticipate a verdict will be issued that overturns Roe v. Wade, setting in motion an evisceration of abortion access across the so-called United States,” the organization stated in a manifesto posted to the Anarchist Library using the topics of “anarcha-feminism,” and “armed struggle.”

Always plan your trip ahead. It will save you time and a Genius Award Winner award.

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – Dashcam video shows a van being hauled by a truck smashing into an overpass in Broward County.

The video taken by a Local 10 News viewer happened around 10 a.m. Sunday near the Interstate 95 onramp from Interstate 595.

The white van appears to be hoisted up too high before it crashed into the overpass and came crashing down onto the roadway.

“Boom. There was a cloud of dust, it looked like the whole thing exploded,” said Brian McConnell, who witnessed the crash.

Other drivers had to swerve away to avoid being hit by debris.

“It was chaos,” McConnell said. “It happened in a split second.”

When you are 5 your world is pretty small. This kid gets "it". Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

In the United States alone, there are approximately 135,000 children that are adopted every year. I’m sure every single one of those have their own personal story to tell.

But one five-year-old wanted to share this special moment with all of his classmates. He invited his entire kindergarten class to his adoption hearing at the Kent County courthouse in Michigan.

134 It's not that "the news only pays attention to outlier attacks," it's that the left doesn't care when black people kill black people because they think that blacks are animals and because there's no political upside in black on black violence.

And it's not just shootings in America. In the '90s, the Somalia Civil war and the Rwandan Genocide got practically no press but the MSM focused on the Yugoslavia war like a laser. And the entire Hollywood/MSM complex obsessed over South Africa but only because it was whites doing the oppressing.

The left believes that brown people killing brown people is just part of their nature and not really news. It's only news when whites are either the victims or perpetrators because the Left holds white people to a higher standard.

A few weeks ago my uncle was having pain in his right foot. It got worse and wire, the agonizing. My uncle is tough Irish, never complains, he's one of 10 children. I finally say his right foot and it was dark purple. Went to the doctor on a Saturday, they popped a blister and told him it was just an infection and put him on antibiotics. His doc then wanted to see him on Wednesday. They foot still looked bad and they wanted him to have an ultrasound. Couldn't book him till Friday. Friday morning I said that's it you're going to the ER with a different hospital network. They took one look at the foot and immediately called the vascular surgeon. He was transferred by ambulance to the bigger hospital. They were appalled that the order wasn't STAT and started treatment. Found a blood clot in his leg. Removed it but they found a 7cm mass on his lung. Mind you his GP never ordered chest x-rays in all these years even though every sibling but one has died of cancer and my uncle smoked 3 packs of camels a day for almost 40 years. He quit in 1991. I am furious.

I wonder how they are still doing?

I recently sold a travel trailer. 5 years old paid $20k for it new. Sold it for $26k.

Which still blows my mind. In the olden days a 5 year old RV had depreciated at least 50% from new.

People, if you have smoked, or do, get a yearly chest x-ray. If the insurance won't pay for it do it anyway. You can negotiate with most providers.

My brother (j&j jabbed) just had a huge cancerous mass removed from his lung - bigger than a softball. His in network doc said about two months ago when problems started it was about an inch in size. (this is Kaiser) They referred him out of network but then didn't send all the lab work to the doctor and on and on. Anyway, they also removed some lymph nodes but said they came back ok.

This all started suddenly when mowing the lawn one day and he couldn't catch his breath. Now, also he is having heart issues! All out of the blue. I didn't ask if he got boosted, but his is in Washington state, so if they required it, I am sure he did (not the sharpest tool in the shed).

He is a smoker (well, quit when he got the news!) but he had no issues before. In his early 60s.

356 Cigarettes are incredibly pernicious. There've been warning labels on them for decades and everyone has known since the 70's what they'll do to you. It's not even like they get you high compared to "actual" drugs. Want a nic hit, gum it. But smoking pack after pack? Yeah, you always hear about "grammaw smoke 10 packs a day and lived to 102". Someone wins the lottery too. Cancer sticks. And emphysema sticks. (It was the cig-induced emphysema that killed BOC keyboardist/guitarist Allen Lanier at age 67 (when the other originals are all alive in their mid-late 70s), not the coke or the heroin (and he was good friends with JJ Cale). The fucking cigs.

Anyway, a young female reporter got assigned to ride with Squad 51. She was a feminist, '70s version, and drove them all nuts. She accused them all of being male chauvinist pigs, even blessed out the doc at Rampart.

Told Johnny he was "misogynist". "What's that mean?" "You have women", Roy replied.

He said, "I like that word a lot now, and glares at her". That explained to her that all that venom she has can't undo "millions of years of nature".

But in the end, the reporter saw them on a real fire, with real danger, risking their lives to save people. Then Johnny was hurt, and Roy had to go in and pull him out, and then the building exploded just right as they got out.

She was impressed. And it ended with her dating Johnny.

But after skimming the content I feel the need to say that the only band more tedious and overrated than The Beatles is The Beach Boys.

At some point The Beatles we're just doing it for the money, drugs and pussy. The Beach Boys, or at least Brian Wilson, deluded themselves into thinking they were actual *arteests*. Fuck 'em.

Stay free. Keep the faith.

Posted by: publius, Rascally Rapscallion (Mzdiz) at June 21, 2022 12:43 AM (Mzdiz)

That's exactly right. Feed from the transformer enters the meter base at the top. Directly below the meter base is a box with the main shutoff switch. A cable exits the bottom of that box, hangs down in a loop of a few inches, and then runs back up the pole to a cablehead, whence three wires exit to be spliced to the 3 drops.

I asked the tech about getting a transfer switch installed to permit the use of a generator, and he said he'd get back to me on that. Said the utility usually doesn't approve any subscriber equipment on the pole.

495 You can briefly freeze houseflies in your freezer. They will look dead. Watch closely though, as they warm they will start to twitch ... and then start moving their wings... after a few short preflight checks they'll go on their way.

One wag in grade school, he somehow took a long strand of the girl's hair in the chair in front of him, must have been almost two feet long, and tied a knot around a fly, so it was on a leash. The teacher was not amused.

Yeah, lightning bugs are great. What's cool about them too, they aren't poisonous to humans, they don't bite, make noise, kill your pets or raid your garden or anything, spread diseases. They just fly around at night and look beautiful.

I remember reading about what some observers called "wheels" of light in the Indian Ocean. Closer reading revealed that these "wheels" were like rays, from a source over the horizon, that would sweep past their ships, and then be followed after an interval , by another one. The light was the familiar phosphorescence from plankton in the sea, which do fluoresce when disturbed.

That sounds suspiciously like interference patterns arising from the collision of two wave trains, with the light rays coinciding with constructive interference, and the dark spaces with destructive interference.

IMHO the Beatles had less clunkers than nearly any band if not all. They were also barely 30 when it ended, and 22 or younger when it started. Nobody had ever had a career like that in pop music before, and they were just kids from a British backwater. For the first couple years they were just especially big pop stars but then culture mutated to where they were something that had never happened before. Nobody ever cared about Sinatra or Elvis's views on society. The last five-six years they had to wing it.

Here at my place, it probably started with one drop, for the house, then another one added, early 1990's for the garage, and the third one added when I built my shop in the early 2000's. The barn has lights, too, fed by a 120 volt pole line coming off one breaker in the garage. I have had to repair that several times myself. Once, the neutral was open, but the lights still sorta worked, by ground return.

The coolest, most fascinating central drop service I ever saw was at a seed cleaner facility, among other things at a speck on the map town called Mountville, SC. There was a little town there years ago, but basically it wasn't a town anymore, and this local guy had a feed 'n' seed there, which he wasn't really running, a big seed cleaner, and some other stuff. Four or five big buildings.

Service was a big three-phase transformer on a central pole, with drops going off to all the buildings. CT meter on that central pole.

I got to looking, and my jaw dropped a bit....

522 Wonderful Christmastime bites indeed. However, that was long after the Beatles, and it DID make him a boatload of money. Paul was the pop guy, the showbiz guy in the group. So his solo work is going to lean that way much as a lot of John's solo work leaned towards edgy to tick you off work as he was that guy in the group. The other thing about the Beatles is after the first pop period, they didn't stick to the same sound. They did anything. So some of it will appeal to some sorts of taste, and other bits will appeal to other tastes. Even on the same album.

At each building with a drop and service entrance, there was another pole right there. That wasn't Mrs. Duke's pole, but a customer pole. On top was a very old transformer, utility type, looked to be about 2300V primary, near as I could tell from eyeballing.

Very old, and customer equipment. HV side was open, nothing connected. Low voltage side fed into a another weatherhead, with conduit running to the main panel, which in this case was a big ol' safety switch.

They were using the secondaries of those old transformers as autotransformers, and that's how they got their 120V for each building.

Now, I asked the guy if I could open up the switch and panel and look at the wiring. He said knock yourself out. I was even more impressed.

They grounded the center taps at each building, which meant that had to use the same two phases for each autotransformer. If you didn't, your local grounded tap reference would be different for each building, and that wouldn't be too good. Shocking in fact, if you happened to bring a good grounded conductor from to the other.

And the knew what they fuck they were doing. If you work out the math, you'll see the two hots supplying the autotransformer carry only 1/2 the neutral imbalance.

They had sized their wires accordingly. The neutral was bigger than the hots. These guys knew what the fuck they were doing, whoever it was who wired that setup.

And while it would get more complicated to explain, they had taken into account the possible fault and phase loss conditions into account with the design as well.

I was impressed.

The only criticism I have for that setup is the imbalance. All of those 120V derived circuits had to be between the same two phases of the supply. That's the problem with high-leg setups, which this was, just with independent splitting for each drop via those autotransformers.

And you had to do it that way, so you could ground all those center taps. Now, if you didn't have to worry about that, you could have distributed it around all the other phase pairs, but then there would be voltage between those center taps.

It could be done, but it would be so oddball as to be dangerous.

In the past, when I'd opened maps.google. com at home, the map was ususally centred very close (scary close!) to my actual location, but now it's always at least a couple of miles away...

Either the Goolag's mapping of location via IP address is less capable now, or they randomise it a bit now for security reasons -- I don't know...

It still bothers me that some rando with nothing more than my name and a computer can get driving directions to my home!

Be wary of poasting links from your home, some sites have your location encoded in the URL.. isidewith. com is one site notorious for this!

I once suggested something. Problem of harmonic, non-linear loads on three phase 208Y/120V systems feeding electronic shit with switching power supplies. Triple-n harmonics add in the nuetrals, and "double sized" neutrals became a thing because of it. Didn't really need to be that big, but close enough.

I was talking one time and said hell, why not use 120V deltas to feed that shit. The zero-sequence harmonics wouldn't be a problem, 'cause it would be a delta.

I was discussin' this with a Clempson Cow Collidge edumacated eee-lectric injun I knew, along with some others. He said, "You're right son, that would work. But I want you to think".

Now, with a 120V delta, you gonna have one third of your output with two hot whars to ground. You gone have to 'splain to some idiot that he's got 120V between them two hot wires, while both of 'em are still hot to ground.

That fool would kill himself or burn something up, or both.

My most hated Beatles song, although it seems to inexplicably be on every Top 100 playlist, is 'Hey Jude'. Just cannot stand that piece of dreck. Just end that damn song already! Talk about a song overstaying its welcome.

583 I recall a similar incident at the Ford Truck enthusiast website forum. Some guy purchased an absolutely mint 4WD F100 , from one of the desert states, it was like a time capsule. No rust, just a cherry good ole 1950s truck. Well he hired it out to be delivered.

Somebody loaded it up on a flatbed truck and I don't remember what happened exactly, but the truck was basically totaled. The driver hit a bridge abutment or whatever. Smashed everything up. Guy just showed up, didn't say anything. Here's yer Truck, sorry about that.

'Let It Be' is a solid album. I always enjoyed 'One After 909', which never got airplay. Also, their single, 'Paperback Writer', was very good.

They had that 2:45 to 3:15 minute long song suitable for radio airplay down pat. But I will say, 'Here Comes The Sun' is a fine piece of music. Unfortunately for me, my freshman college roommate had that on 8-track and played it on a continuous loop (as 8-tracks are wont to do), so I got sort of sick of it. Too much of good thing is, well, too much.
