When you are wealthy and criticize a Leftist regime such as the one which occupies Washington D.C. You get this type of retaliatory bullshit.

The Biden administration issued its latest decision impacting an Elon Musk business venture Monday, forcing SpaceX to take more than 75 environmental actions before moving ahead with its rocket launch plans in Texas.

SpaceX must take a number of steps and actions — like donating $5,000 per year to both an ocelot refuge and peregrine falcon fund and operating a shuttle from the parking lot to reduce traffic — before proceeding with its proposed Starship Super Heavy Project in Boca Chica, Texas, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announcement. The company has proposed to use the facility to launch its Starship spacecraft and Super Heavy rocket, a reusable transportation system the company said is the most powerful launch vehicle ever made and could travel to Mars.

Can anyone in government accurately forecast anything? And I mean anything of importance.

Authored by Kyle Anzalone & Will Porter via The Libertarian Institute,

US energy security envoy Amos Hochstein has acknowledged that Russia might be making more revenue from fossil fuels than before its February invasion of Ukraine. Washington has responded with waves of sanctions aiming to crush the Russian economy.

Hochstein made the comments during a hearing for the Senate Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security Cooperation. In response to a question about whether Moscow was making more money now off its fossil fuel sales, Hochstein said, "I can’t deny that."

There is a reason why Washington D.C. is not a state. And this bitch politician is too stupid to understand it.

Ahead of today’s observance of Flag Day, Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser ordered flags with 51 stars to be raised in the district because “DC’s disenfranchisement is a stain on American democracy – a 220-year-old wrong that demands to be righted.”

In a statement posted to her government website on Monday, the mayor said, “Today, ahead of Flag Day, I directed our team to hang 51-star flags along Pennsylvania Avenue as a reminder to Congress and the nation that the 700,000 tax-paying American citizens living in Washington, DC demand to be recognized.”

Lot to government largess teat sucking going on.

I am fresh out of Give-A-Fvcks. How about you?

A trans woman thrown in a cell with men after drug charges is suing the prison for what she calls discrimination.

Christina Lusk, 56, has faced sexual and verbal abuse since being incarcerated at Moose Lake prison in Minnesota, USA, after admitting to a felony drug possession charge.

Lusk, who is legally recognised as female and came out as transgender 14 years ago, has asked to be moved from the men's facility to the women's prison in nearby Shakopee.

Yes, I'm lacking empathy tonight. Another case in point: Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Is 5-10 years fair for shoplifting $80 from a Walmart self-checkout? Kentucky AG says yes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — When Chastity Shirley shopped at Walmart’s Somerset, Kentucky, store one day in 2018, she pulled what retailers call a "switcheroo."

She switched the bar codes from a toothbrush holder with those from a more expensive children's rug and slipcover and checked herself out of the store.

She was caught red-handed by a loss-control associate who was watching her.

The cost difference between the item she paid for and the two she tried to take — $80.80.

But instead of charging her with misdemeanor theft — standard for shoplifting crimes of less than $500 — a Pulaski County prosecutor persuaded a grand jury to indict Shirley for "unlawful access to a computer."

Whew. I don't know about you. But, I'll be able to sleep better at night knowing the following: US Army deploys its first floating solar array - A big moment for ‘floatovoltaics’

Floating solar had a moment in the spotlight over the weekend when the US Army unveiled a new solar plant sitting atop the Big Muddy Lake at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. It’s the first floating solar array deployed by the Department of Defense, and it’s part of a growing current of support in the US for “floatovoltaics.”

The army says its goal is to boost clean energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and give the nearby training facility a source of backup energy during power outages. The panels will be able to generate about one megawatt of electricity, which can typically power about 190 homes.

The installation, the largest in the US Southeast, is a big win for floatovoltaics, which have yet to make a big splash in the US. They only make up 2 percent of solar installations annually in the country, according to Duke Energy, which collaborated with Fort Bragg and the renewable energy company Ameresco on the project.

I have enough problems with my hobbies without taking up this new one. There is a record for balancing chainsaws on your head.

June 13 (UPI) -- An Idaho man reclaimed a Guinness World Records title by balancing a chainsaw on his forehead for 31 minutes and 25 seconds.

David Rush, who has broken nearly 250 Guinness World Records to promote STEM education, originally broke the record for longest duration balancing a chainsaw on the forehead in 2017, when he balanced the tool for 5 minutes and 1 second.

Naughty boy. Bad dog. I guess this one reason why an ankle biter would be a good pet.

A Missouri home burst into flames last week when the family dog accidentally turned on the kitchen stove, causing a grease fire, officials said.

The home owner’s security capture captured the moment the dog stood on its hind legs and placed its paws up on the stovetop, which had a high-tech control that activates the stove’s range with a touch of a finger.

From a touch of a paw, the stove turned on and caused a fire that brought extensive damage to the home, located in Parkville, a suburb outside of Kansas City, Missouri.

The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office arrested Joel Pennington, 51, late Sunday night after Pennington reportedly tried to assault people in the area. When deputies arrived, they asked Pennington's mother—who was also there — where he was. She replied he was in her van.

The FBI collected over 12,000 hours of video from that day, mostly cell phone sourced, but also a lot of news video.

Because of our laws, the House of Representatives controls it, and that would be Nanzi Pelosi.

With today's editing technology, it would only take a week or two to mesh it together and after releasing it in a 3-D style creation. Everyone would know what happened, at least 99.5%. My guess is that it would be nothing like what the bastards in the press and their associated D(avos-CCP) tools are claiming.

Instead we get the liars and propagandists in the House, wasting time and making false claims.

Actually an interesting question. Congress had Subpoena power so they can do investigations tied to LEGISLATION, or impeachment, or oversight.

They are not empowered to do investigations into criminal matters... that's the DOJ's job.

Just what is the legal justification for these subpoenas? They are not writing legislation. There is no oversite of CIVILIANS (which they have investigated and grabbed the phone records of)... and impeachment was never invoked, as it takes a special process.

Looks to me as if Congress abrogated the Civil Rights of a LOT of people with illegal Subpoenas... oh... and there IS a law about taking someone's Civil Rights, under color of LAW.... and it's a felony... and as a Felony can take Sovereign Immunity off the table.

Nerdygirl at 129: "absolutely no respect for taxpayer money"

I used to work for a government agency. Every September there was a scramble to spend any excess funds left in your yearly allotment, resulting in stacks of relevant but unneeded or duplicate equipment in the warehouse and back lot, some of which would sit there for years. Pressure from management (heh) could get intense if those excess funds were not spent.

This ol' Poulan my father and I got (probably in the late '90s) is pretty reliable. As long you don't let old gas/oil mixture sit in it over the year, and don't use ethanol gas, that thing has started reliably for years.

No, I haven't put 1000 hours on it by a long shot, but that thing is over 20 years and still starts well. Yes, the small engine electronic ignition does pretty well.

Son hooked me up. Got a ported Stihl MS461 and the 24" bar has been just right. Too much saw for the yard? Mebbe. I don't worry about it giving up the ghost.

We do have a few hefty trees as does my poor old gray haired mother (limb that busted off in a storm last year was 18" at one end. I've felled 24" trees, too.)

Mrs IMG is kind enough to ask if I should supersize when buying outdoor power equipment and I usually follow her advice.

I'm remembering when we bought that Poulan. Had a big tree in the woods that fell over in a field, and we had to cut it up a little to get out.

We got out Dad's old Homelite that he bought when I was kid. Fussed with that that all afternoon trying to get it to start. We had in the shop, on the floor, yanking it. Had spilled some gas-oil mix on it.

A spark flew out the little muffler and set it on fire. I had put it on a tarp of a thing for some reason, maybe to keep from getting little dinky parts lost when we were messing with it.

Dad went for the fire extinguisher and I dragged the thing out of the bay doors.

With the fire out, we just looked at each other, said nothing, and jumped in the pickup and went to town to buy a new one. That was that Poulan.

311 TX34 was a jungle election too. Have to get to a certain percentage to win. I don't think it was 50% though. Might have been 40%.

Trump endorsement continues to be the gold standard, very few have lost. SC07 is a good result.

Although it looks like Nancy Mace will hold her seat in SC01 even after the runoff. She's pulling 53% right now. So Arrington is one endorsed candidate that probably won't make it.

I have a big old IEL saw, which I have never run, but should. My father worked for them, in their engine test cell. This saw has a 2-stroke engine, with a float carburetor, and a bevel gear drive, about a 5:1 reduction to the chain. The gear drive incorporates a swivel, so you can clock the bar at 8 points relative to the engine, which has to stay more or less upright. I ran one years ago, on the beach, cutting firewood. The chain moves so slowly, you can stop if you hit a rock or a spike, and only damage a few teeth. But torque out the ying-yang.

And they made a 2-cylinder version of that saw.

To get out the place we loaded that trailer, he had to go up a little hill on a little dirt drive (which is now part of the driveway to Miley's house here).

He was so loaded he had to make a running go to get out over that little hump into the road. So, I got out in the road and watched, and listened and gave him the signal to hit it.

He did, and boy did he get a running go. I was backing away from the path as far as possible. He hit that bump, that squatted down trailer bounced, and landed in the road. Pow! One of those Maypops popped. It was a tandem axle trailer. He kept on gettin' it.

He had about two miles to go. He made to the crossroads, then had to make a turn, go up a hill, and make another turn down the road to his place.

Yeah, Picked up a 20V 10" B&K chainsaw this year; I've used it to cut through an 8" diameter pine, albeit sloooooowly. But it works real well on 3" branches/trees, which is my usual need. I have a friend if I need a more powerful chainsaw.

And not having to futz with cranking 2 cycle motors is a real plus.

I'm remembering some mishaps with this feller, won't hurt to name him, "Angus". Mr. Angus. He did serve in the Army, in WWII under Patton in artillery, but he was just enlisted, not a Colonel. So, no Col. Angus.

He was a good ol' boy, don't get me wrong, just a maniac with machinery and tools. Besides nearly cutting his hand off with a chain saw, he also managed to run himself over with his tractor. Broke a bunch of ribs, but he survived. What did he do? Old Farmall tricycle, which he started with a screwdriver jumping the solenoid from the side. With it in gear.

Again, just stupid, reckless shit. Very long lived family, for the XYs. He made it to his late '90s. His youngest brother, the only one of his (many) siblings still alive, is 95, one year older than my father.

He's still sharp as a tack, and still gets around. He'll make it to 100 at least. He's not a maniac like his big brother. My father may make it close to 100, and beat his own brothers by 10 to 15 years. But his mind won't be that good.

Still, Daddy has more sense and cognitive function than Brandon by a long shot.

I bought an electric chainsaw a few years ago. It is a corded model, made by Oregon. Great investment. After fighting for years with my gas chainsaw, that I used only occasionally, and then always had trouble getting started, the electric chain saw is great for cutting down small trees (up to 12 -14 inches in diameter, the bar is 18 inches long). Always works.
I also have a couple of very long heavy duty extension cords, so I can go back into the woods behind the house to cut things down.

Neptune was the initial assault, landing plus airborne drops. Neptune was a component of Overlord. Other operations were components, like Titan, which was dropping canvas dummies of paratroopers ("Rupert") as deception drops, Glimmer, which was dropping chaff for radar deception, and Smoke Screen, which was medium bombers (like B-26) with smoke generators flying at low altitude laying smoke to hide the Allied fleet.

Overlord was the plan to create a lodgement area on the Normandy Peninsula.

He didn't fall, but it was close. My nephew was alarmed and put his foot down, saying grandpa shouldn't do it. He then went up the ladder and finished it. That little 1kW inverter of mine will run that little chain pretty well. Also some other power tools. It's not a square wave, but a modified pulse thingy. It gives two steps per half cycle, RMS'd to 120V. I looked at the waveform with my wavemeter (poor man's Scopemeter). Current is pretty smooth.

It will do pretty good, as long you don't bog something down too hard. I remember running a reciprocating saw, DeWalt, which I bogged down. There was a curious vibration, I remember, when I put too much load on the inverter.

418 I got by cutting firewood with a really cheap electric for a long time, with my museum of "probably potentially functional" antiques up on a shelf. Then we had several big trees taken down, cut-rate for leaving them long, and I knew I needed a fresh saw again. Believed the tree guy's sales spiel, betook myself to the franchised Stihl showroom, and found that the lead time -- BEFORE "supply chain" -- was 3 to 4 months. Figured it was just my snotty suburban showroom dealer, called around to a couple of real workingman's supply houses. Nope. 90 days, for saws that cost twice as much as their competition.

Well, just because I'm lazy doesn't mean I'm not a mechanic. In a couple of days, I got four of them running. We sold our 4-stroke two-man saw to a collector, but I have a 1950's Clinton that has a megaphone where others have their muffler. I save that one for bothersome neighbors.

The Texas 34 race results are Big not because the seat is important (it isn't) but because of the pattern it showed. This falls election is showing a full slate of Hispanic Women running as Republicans in almost all of the formerly safe Dem border seats. There's been a lot of talk over whether they will appeal to general Hispanic voters. Texas 34 (in this election) was 84% Hispanic, and the Hispanic Republican Woman won this formerly safe Dem seat by a 51% to 43% margin. If this pattern is repeated this fall, a lot of the border districts could flip from D to R. And they're not going to be GOP-e Republicans, either; this is a whole new group. Going to be fascinating to watch.

I remember they'd tried to reconstruct exactly what happened with my friend's father from the evidence. I don't know why they go that far, but I guess it makes sense to try to figure out exactly the sequence of events.

The ladder was still standing against the tree trunk when they found him. Saw had fallen off some distance away. And there he was with the big limb on top of him.

The limb landed on him with some force, so he fell before the limb they figured. I'm trying to remember what they concluded.

It sounded like they had it up to about 1800- 2000rpm at one point. I can't really see what flathead it is. It could be the the VL engine, which is 74 cubic inches, or it could be the smaller 45 inch flathead. Its hard to tell with the contraption they got bolted on to run the chain, but it appears to be the 74" VL engine. Lots of torque there, no need to go big RPM, but yeah, would have been cool to scream it. They might have been trying to be carefull.

Some of the pole mount transformers (pots, in the lingor)Mrs. Duke used here, such as the 25KVA feeding my parents' house, has a nice switch on the tank. IIRC, it opened the HV side.

No problem to open it. Didn't even need a hot stick, just a stick with a hook. You could do that with amateur equipment.

Now, those without the switch, such as Mrs. Duke uses now, require you to open the high voltage cut-out feeding it. That requires a hot stick, of course. And not for amateurs.

The Diesel engines on oil drilling rigs all have "motor kills" on them. A positive valve to close off the air intake on command. Because if a well should kick, and release a large amount of natural gas, the engines could run away to destruction, just burning the gas coming in with the air, even if the fuel solenoids are shut. If that happens, a rig fire is almost a given. So, several times a week, during rig service, the motor kills are function-tested, and an entry to that effect is made into the tour book.

I've actually got one of those cut-outs they use on the 7200V to ground lines. Much bigger than it looks high up on the pole. They look a bit C-clamp. Insulator form the backbone. The switch arm is a fusible link thing, that used a powder charge. If current exceeds the set point (maybe 100A, which is a shit ton for 7200V) they will blow.

Some mechanism sets off the powder charge, which blows the link arm out, explosive force blowing out any arc that forms. These are basically used for short circuit protection, not overload protection, of course.

Those things sound like a shotgun going off with they blow.

Maybe a spring to drive a firing pin into a primer, held back by a fusible link? If the link melts, the spring drives the pin into the primer to set off the charge.

Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at June 15, 2022 01:41 AM (ErVGW)

460
You can replace those cut-out links from the ground with a telescoping hot stick. There is technique to it, which I've observed. The link has two rings on, at the bottom and the top which accepts the hot stick hook. When one is blown and hanging open, you take the hot stick and catch the lower loop, and lift the old link out of the bottom socket. You then load the new one the same way, placing it hanging down on the lower link arm.

You then take it loose, and put the hot stick hook in the top loop, which is hanging down. You swing up to catch in the top arm, and close the HV switch. It will hum and pop. You need to throw that very fast, to prevent big arcing and stuff from a big on-switching transient from any load on the system you're closing.

Funny story about those explosive links. If there's a big fault, and lineman closes it with new one with his stick, it will immediately blow out again, making said lineman shit his pants generally.

There's a legend about that locally. Locally lineman in charge with Mrs. Duke at the Simpsonville main office. There was a textile plant, in Mauldin, SC, just a few miles up the road, known as Her Majesty's. This was back in the '60s.

It was informally called "Her Majesty's Underwear", because that's what they made a lot of. Women's undergarments (Men's too). Well, one fine day, Her Majesty went off line.

This head lineman ran up there in his truck. His name was Mark. Won't mention the last name, but he's a legend. [cont].

Her Majesty's was a big service, big customer. When Mark got there and inspected the mini-substation feeding it, he noticed those explosive links had blown. Well, there's the problem! Maybe it was a squirrel. He closed them, one by one, via hot stick technique above. When he went to close on, it blew again.

Mark shit his pants. There was a big bad fault somewhere. (Turned out one of the big transformers in the three-bank had shorted out a winding).

All excited from having one of those blow on him, he ran to the truck and got on the radio and called HQ in Greenville.

He shouted, "I need some help, Her Majesty's Underwear's off and I cain't get it back on!".

That is still legend with Mrs. Duke around here.

471 Tonypete, thank you for the remembrance of Thomas Nash.
I inherited some graves to care for when my mother and aunts died, not all of whom were veterans, who were their friends in the depression and 40s, but one of whom I suspect is a woman who is only remembered by us, as we have to dig her flat headstone out of the turf every year on Memorial Day when we visit everyone.
She was a childless woman who lived by renting rooms in her house in Arlington VA just outside DC, and as my mother's siblings and eventually immigrant parents migrated east during the Depression and then the war, my mother's family ended up being all of her tenants.
My mom and two oldest siblings lived in her home while dad was deployed during WW II.
Her name was Minnie Ada Parker, and she died in 1960.
Every year we dig out and tidy her stone, and leave flowers.

Ol' Mark there. He re-tard of course. Old man in the '90s. He bought some sack-corn from us, for his chickens. He kept a few chickens. My father prompted by a local feed 'n' seed in Simpsonville (now gone, of course) decided we'd make some extra spendin' money by saving a load or two of corn and sacking it up in 50 lb bags from this sack corn crowd.

That was some work. Anyway, re-tard Mark bought 5 bads, directly from the source one time, and came out to our place. I had a dog, then, named "Bandit". Neighbor found his as a puppy, out in a field. Some asshole had put him out. We took him.

Anyway, old Mark, after we loaded his 5 bags of sack corn in the back of his truck, made some conversation. He liked to smoke cigars, and had a big one hangin' in his mouth.

Ol' Bandit got to eye-ballin' that big cigar. Cocked his head side-to-side. Before I knew it, he ran toward Mark, jump up, and chomped that cigar right out of his mouth. Bandit went runnin' off, with Mark's cigar in his mouth, puffing smoke.

My father gave Mark a discount on the sack corn 'cause of that.

Ol' Mark had a facial tick of some sort. When he'd get excited, he sort of spit and stutter. That was do to an accident as a young lineman, they say. He rode a little bit of the lightnin' one time on an HV distribution line, as a young lineman, they said, and that tick developed.

He sort of spit and sputtered when Bandit yanked that cigar out of his mouth.

When ol' Mark departed this mortal coil, it was another of those big funerals. Big wigs from Mrs. Duke showed up. Again, he was a legend with Mrs. Duke's Power company.

Ol' Mark there, is what made it easy for Mrs. Duke to get eee-lectric power to Miley's new house here. Back in the '60's, before I was born, my father threw up a pole shed a bit fer piece from the house and the road. He thought it would be nice to have some power down at that shed.

Mrs. Duke didn't have to do it, but ol' Mark got it done, and put in a couple of poles down the field and fed the high tension to feed a transformer for that shed.

Again, that was in the '60s. Now, come 2020. 50+years later. That allowed Mrs. Duke a very easy way to feed Miley's house I built for her down here. Put in a "dip pole" to take the overheard 7200V feeding that shed to underground to feed a pad-mount to feed the low-voltage to the new house.

He sort of hinted that it would be real nice if'n I could clear him a path to get his big digger through to where he and I decided would be a good place for that pad-mount transfomer.

I did it, and had to use that Poulan chain saw I mentioned above a little bit. Now, the actual crew that came out to dig that trench for the 7200V undeground was a guy I went to high school with.

Mrs. Duke's regulations require a 7200V undeground feed line needs to be at least 4' underground. You don't want to hit that shit if'n you's diggin' un-wares. Shocking experience, you might say.

Well, let's just say he hit a bit of a rock spot there, and didn't get his 7200V exactly 4' under for a little bit. He asked me, you ain't gonna be diggin' to deep here are you? Nope. Well, then, we'll just let it slide.

Frozen scallops are extremely difficult to cook. Oftentimes, once they hit the pan, water just bursts out of them leaving them tasteless and chewy. No offense, but frozen scallops suck.

Now fresh scallops are a whole 'nother matter. Hot pan, quick sear on both sides, maybe 45 seconds max per side. Perfection. Top with a favorite sauce or nothing at all.

504 Yes, Miklos. We have a half dozen or so people who have no one left.
They have been handed down to be remembered.

I was w/ some family to decorate the graves, was the only one of my generation there, no surprise. Guess I will inherit the duty, don't mind, just wish I had someone to pass it on to.

This is America, remembering your forbearers. The clowns and crooks running our govt today have no clue what this country is about.

506 I'll defrost the scallops.

Stirling sounds like a fun dude. Kitties have so much fun exploring their environment. They're like human children.

It's 0230 in my AO. Got me a bit of insomnia. So, here I am.

Somebody sing me a lullaby. Or the Anvilania national anthem.

publius and Miklos I have a corn sheller in out museum collection that was made locally in Rock Falls, IL.

Now on the farm, when I started farming in 1980, there was an old grain cleaner, which I actually used to clean our own soybeans to plant.

A fond memory is of Jules and her roommate Joyce visiting and us all cleaning beans, twas a blast. Funny that. RIP dear Joyce.

512 The Texas 34 race results are Big not because the seat is important (it isn't) but because of the pattern it showed.

A lot of doomsayers like to talk about how inevitable it is that TX becomes CA-East sooner rather than later. Watch the Rio Grande Valley. If that trends Republican, that is going to be huge for TX.

That was Holland. Normandy was Neptune/Overlord. Technically, the airborne drops were Neptune, and Overlord was the sea landings.

Yeah, it was Normandy and D Day:a British produced success. It was Montgomery's plan,50% aircraft British,68% naval craft British,66% troops British/Canadian ie British empire forces.
Your welcome.

518 "The army says its goal is to boost clean energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and give the nearby training facility a source of backup energy during power outages."

Oooooh.... I thought its goal was to win wars and defend the country. Well that explains a lot. I'm glad we cleared up the confusion.
