NPC Media Downloads New Programming: "AKSHUALLY ASSAULT RIFLES ARE NAZI WEAPONS, *BEEP*"

The "anti-disinformation" Corporate Blog the Washington Post publishes more disinformation:

Marc Fisher
@mffisher

Invented for Nazi infantrymen, further developed by the US military, the AR-15 was the Texas school shooter's weapon of choice...

The Texas shooter was not carrying an assault rifle. An assault rifle is capable of automatic fire. Per Wikipedia:

The U.S. Army defines assault rifles as "short, compact, selective-fire weapons that fire a cartridge intermediate in power between submachine gun and rifle cartridges." In this strict definition, a firearm must have at least the following characteristics to be considered an assault rifle:

It must be capable of selective fire. [Meaning, you can select single-shot fire or automatic fire, or three- or five-round fire, for some guns.]

It must have an intermediate-power cartridge: more power than a pistol but less than a standard rifle or battle rifle, examples of intermediate cartridges are the 7.92x33mm Kurz, the 7.62x39mm and 5.56x45mm NATO.

Its ammunition must be supplied from a detachable box magazine.

It must have an effective range of at least 300 metres (330 yards).

Rifles that meet most of these criteria, but not all, are not assault rifles according to the U.S. Army's definition.

Even based on the Washington Post's tortured reasoning, which claims that any actual assault rifle is a "weapon designed for Nazi infantry," no matter how far from the design of 1944 we've come, almost no one in the US owns an assault rifle, because you need a very, very restricted federal firearms license to own any gun capable of automatic fire.

Those who claim to be our guardians against disinformation create and disseminate the most disinformation -- but of course they do. It has always been this way. Orwell didn't just make up the Ministry of Truth; it was based on real-world example.

Via Twitchy, Kevin McCarthy's bunk-mate Frank Luntz is helping the Democrats, as usual, through his usual means of proposing stupid changes in language to make the unpalatable sound less unpalatable.

Frank Luntz
@FrankLuntz

Pro Tip: Call it "gun safety" instead of "gun control."

"Gun control" makes it irreversibly political. "Gun safety" is something everyone can agree on. #WordsThatWork

And The Bulwark, made up of of former Republican insiders and operatives, is now pushing the idea Republicans who accurately accuse liberals of defunding the police are themselves... undermining law and order.

Will Saletan
@saletan

Republicans who accuse the left of "defunding police" are helping shooters outgun the police.

They're abetting crime and undermining law and order. Democrats must take that message to America.

Nothing will change till pro-gun extremists lose their seats.

One idea that some people are suggesting is single-entry schools. The idea being that the single entry can be guarded and controlled.

Of course, Charles Schumer and everyone on the left is shrieking that that is pure witchcraft.

Schumer claims you can't have single-entry schools because "fire marshals would disagree." Ah yes, buildings need multiple exits. Oh but wait, many buildings have fire exits where the alarm sounds if they're opened, right...?

Anyway, he's just shooting down any other possible solution because he's got one in mind, only: He wants to confiscate guns.

And guess who else agrees that single-entry schools are witchcraft, because his Democrat Donors want him to support the Democrat plan of gun confiscation? That's right, The Bulwark's Alanis Morrissette impersonator, Tim Miller.

Boy that Bulwark sure seems to be adopting a lot of hard left positions as part of its mission to "conserve conservatism," doesn't it?

These are the "Republicans" who either controlled our party until five years ago or, in Luntz's case, are still in control of our Party.

Wait, did I say "Republicans"? I meant Leftwing Literal Cocksuckers. #WordsThatWork.

Oh, the Secretary of Babysitting's husband, who was too busy to babysit so that his husband could do his job during a shipping emergency, weighed in:

Chasten Buttigieg
@Chasten

A door is good at keeping the kids in and rain out. It doesn't stand a chance against a weapon designed to obliterate organs and render tiny bodies unrecognizable in the blink of an eye. If you're focusing on doors right now, you've already given up. You have failed our kids.

Sean Davis
@seanmdav

Everyone making this idiotic argument locks their doors at night.

You have to love the pretense that secure, single points of entry are an impossible logistical conundrum for schools, but forced nationwide confiscation of half a billion guns is no big deal.

Andrew Follett debunks a couple of lies which the NPC Media has downloaded and is uploading to their NPC Consoomers:

Andrew Follett
@AndrewCFollett

A thread on how the media is telling you two major lies about mass shootings and gun control

1: Other countries with vastly stricter gun laws than the US have higher rates of mass shootings.

2: US jurisdictions w/ gun laws have exponentially higher rates of gun violence

Although events in the U.S. tend to get the lion's share of media exposure, mass shootings are clearly a worldwide issue.

The US makes up about 1.15% of the world's mass shootings while having almost 5% of the world's population.

Out of 97 countries with data, the US is 64th in frequency of mass shootings and 65th in murder rate.

And rates of mass shootings elsewhere are rising faster

4 times as many per capita died in mass shootings in FRANCE as in the US. 21 times in Norway.

In addition to those fairly nice nations, Finland, Germany, Israel, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland have higher mass shooting death rates.

All of those are pretty nice countries which MUCH stricter gun control laws than the US... and all have higher per capita deaths from mass shootings than the US.

...

2: The highest gun-ownership state with the loosest gun laws in the nation is Wyoming, where 59.7% of households have a gun (really!)

Wyoming gun laws are arguably the LEAST restrictive in the United States.

Wyoming does NOT HAVE a gun homicide problem, with a rate of only 1.4 per 100,000-- actually lower than right across the border in more gun-controlled Canada --and only about a third of that of the nation as a whole.

The highest murder rate of any jurisdiction in the US is Washington, DC, which has a murder rate of 21.8 per 100,000... more than twenty times that of most European countries!

But DC also has the most restrictive gun laws in the country... and the lowest rates of legal gun ownership, with numbers less than in many European states!

I'd say that data suggests that the factors making DC have such high gun violence rates are part of the story of why America as a whole is so deadly, but these cannot include high gun ownership or a lack of gun regulation...by definition.

If stricter gun laws reduced gun violence rates, you'd expect jurisdictions with those laws to have lower rates of gun violence.

Instead, we find quite the opposite.

Now, maybe you think "of course those jurisdictions have higher gun violence rates, that's why they enacted the laws."

I doubt that...but the data is CLEAR that those laws haven't reduced the rates.

The factors making DC so deadly are part of the story of why America as a whole is so deadly, but these cannot include high gun ownership.

Facts don't care about your feelings.

And blaming this on Republicans' (which Libs made trend ALL of yesterday is... stupid.

Washington DC hasn't had a Republican mayor since literally 1933. And it hasn't had a Republican on the city council since 2008.

I've omitted his citations. See his thread for those.

One question that hasn’t been answered yet...

Where does an 18-year-old unemployed high school drop out get the money to buy two AR style rifles w/ hundreds of rounds of ammo & magazines?

Good question. A friend said -- only half jokingly -- "probably a covid check scam."

i got willowed earlier, but isn't this sort of, kind of, if you squint REALLY hard and twist the fuck out of the logic, kind of true?

from a sense that didn't the germans determine the need for an intermediate gun that was quick firing and had decent range, but was also stronger than the smgs of the time? thus the STG was born.

eventually this might have given way to the AR. but the premise is that a man portable automatic rifle for use by mobile troops was a german idea.

There's a fair amount of correlation of that nature but there are also sub-Saharan African countries with very low homicide rates. Since we didn't really import Somalians until recently and American blacks are not particularly culturally African, the case is a bit weaker than an association of Mexican-American crime rates and crime rates in Mexico.

Depends on the size of the airport and the layout, but this is precisely the point of a security checkpoint system. There is open ingress into the unsecured area in the outer ring, but then you have to go through a security checkpoint. The checkpoints are also chokepoints. It's much easier to control one or two or a few entrances through which everyone is funneled than to control every available entrance. This also lets the unsecured area act as a buffer for the slowdown that occurs when the flow all bottlenecks at security.

Honestly, I don't care about whether restrictive gun laws equal higher crime rates, or vice versa.

Shall. Not. Be. Infringed. Motherfucker.

As far as I'm concerned, the only permissible way to ban/restrict firearms in the US is by going through the long and difficult constitutional process of repealing or amending the 2nd Amendment.

Of course, it would be monstrously evil to do so, but it would have the advantage of actually being Constitutional.

118 from a sense that didn't the germans determine the need for an intermediate gun that was quick firing and had decent range, but was also stronger than the smgs of the time? thus the STG was born.

eventually this might have given way to the AR. but the premise is that a man portable automatic rifle for use by mobile troops was a german idea.

But i'm willing to be wrong. And it SURE as fuck doesn't get in the galactic range of what the 2 bit cocksucking twat waffle in the tweet was implying...
Posted by: SturmToddler (po3vF) at May 27, 2022 04:25 PM (p03vF)

You can trace the STG pretty directly to the AK 47. The Armalite has a different heritage. The .223/5.56 cartridge was developed in the 50's, as was the Eugene Stoner design.

The quest for a man-portable rifle capable of controlled full auto fire starts in WW1 if we want to get technical, with the BAR, and other contemporaries. Fiddling with finding the right caliber has been going on ever since.

152 But the politically incorrect truth doesn’t help Biden, Democrats, or their click-hungry allies in the media. In fact, the data show Middle Easterners make up less than one-half of one percent of Americans, yet they commit 9% of mass public shootings. That’s more than those committed by the “white supremacists” Joe loves to go on about.

Again, you’ll never read that in The New York Times.

One question that hasnt been answered yet...

Where does an 18-year-old unemployed high school drop out get the money to buy two AR style rifles w/ hundreds of rounds of ammo & magazines?

Like I said, 70 miles from an unchecked border and cartel influence probably on every street corner.

Or access to some tools, and some basic machining experience. I don't have the wherewithal to do it, but many do.

It doesn't matter though... if this little maniac had an automatic rifle, he'd just need to pack in three times as much ammunition to do the same job. It's why select-fire switches are a thing. If it were even desirable to have that capability for most people, you'd see a lot more of it, without regard to the wishes of Chuck Schumer.

This isn't a movie, where the targets put on makeup and line up to be shot by Alec Baldwin. A fey, loose-assed Wendy's fry cook won't do any better with a full-auto than he would with a semi-auto. Probably considerably worse, in fact.

200 i got willowed earlier, but isn't this sort of, kind of, if you squint REALLY hard and twist the fuck out of the logic, kind of true?

from a sense that didn't the germans determine the need for an intermediate gun that was quick firing and had decent range, but was also stronger than the smgs of the time? thus the STG was born.

eventually this might have given way to the AR. but the premise is that a man portable automatic rifle for use by mobile troops was a german idea.

But i'm willing to be wrong. And it SURE as fuck doesn't get in the galactic range of what the 2 bit cocksucking twat waffle in the tweet was implying...

Both sides after WWI were looking for a compact way to take a "machine gun" into a trench to break the deadlock of WWI the next time. Since the range is short in trench combat, the distance accuracy of a bolt action rifle isn't needed, just high rates of fire for when you turn a corner and run into a dozen fellows with rifles.

Did he run out of bullets, and that's why he stopped shooting? Did the 19 cops standing in the hall, and the dozens more outside, just let half an hour pass while the killer was essentially unarmed inside the classroom, and kids were bleeding out on the floor?

Any school built in the 1960's was made of CMU (concrete blocks) walls and has solid wood doors which may or may not have been replaced with metal doors, and any glass in them is wired. They are built to last, even if shot upon. The only soft spot is the windows to the exterior. No shooter is coming in that way, anyway.

New schools? Not so much. Drywall is easy to shoot through. Wired glass is now illegal. Etc.

But there's no reason to not have controlled access through one entrance. The exits can all be exit-only doors. However, I'm told a teacher propped open the door the douchebag entered through. A building can't fix stupid.

Only because the M1 carbine lacked fully automatic fire. The M2 which was the M1 with minor modifications (they actually made a conversion kit to make an M1 into an M2) did have selective fire. Admittedly the StG 44 did inspire or rather motivate the Army to go back and add selective fire, however the feature was always intended for the M1, was part of the original specification, and was only omitted in order to get the M1 into service more quickly.

Again the Germans fielded the first automatic assault rifle. However arguably the first assault rifle really was the M1 Carbine.

Assault is basically going in the front. If you're sitting back and taking potshots or sniping, that's not launching an assault. Charging the breech or the enemy lines is an assault. So assault weapons are not sidearms and not heavier weapons.

309 Wyoming does NOT HAVE a gun homicide problem, with a rate of only 1.4 per 100,000-- actually lower than right across the border in more gun-controlled Canada --and only about a third of that of the nation as a whole.

The highest murder rate of any jurisdiction in the US is Washington, DC, which has a murder rate of 21.8 per 100,000... more than twenty times that of most European countries!

As mentioned a Double-Action revolver or a Double-Action Semi-Automatic are very easy to master particularly at typical self-defense distances. Practice dry-firing with snap-caps to get the feel for as long as you need and then go to the range. You don't start off as the Lone Ranger right off the bat. It's like any skill, but respect - not fear - is part of the process.

385 is this the part of the gun debate with the npc's where we point out that "AR" doesn't stand for assault rifle but for armalite?:

390 I have several Soviet rifles in 7.62x54R

A few manufactured in 38-44

Probably killed more folk in the Great Patriotic War than all the AR-15s combined in US civilian hands.
Yet, single shot, bolt action with a five round magazine.

Therefore, no problem for the left.
Even with the 16 inch bayonet attached.

392 The Feds should buy a bunch of ED-209s and have them outside the schools on guard duty.

Of course they would have to remove all the stairs.

394 The sports section in the Dallas Morning News has had at least one article and two columns written by sports writers about how guns are killing innocent people (since Tuesday). Read more like editorials. Nothing to do with sports except somebody named Kerr keeps shooting his mouth off.

396 They always pull that crap with mass shootings in the US versus other countries, but they do it as a total and not per capita, ignoring how we also have the 3rd biggest population in the world, and many many times more guns. If everything was equal we'd be at the near bottom (also if you take out all onset city gang crime we'd be near nill)

These mass shooting events, though horrific, are rare but since the media needs to get eyes, they're made to be month long events, or until they need to have 24/7 George Floyd Memorial's.

398 I'm not saying that if you're a young Chicano male in a US/Mexican border town, you're in with the cartels. I'm just saying that if you're that guy and you're able to buy stuff you can't really afford working at Wendy's...yeah, you probably are.

400 So this question was never answered.

Were the LEO's in pursuit of the gunboy when he crashed his truck into the ditch outside of the school?

AND...

I would love to see the complete CCTV loop that shows gunboy not making a beeline for the only apparently unlocked/ propped open door in that hallway.

Yeah this sucks...but lets make sure it does not deep state suck.

401 We need to get rid of "high powered rifles" and replace them with low powered ones. I guess that means bb guns.

405 "because you need a very, very restricted federal firearms license to own any gun capable of automatic fire"

This is not correct.

You need enough money to buy one of the ~250,000 privately-owned automatic weapons on the federal register, $200 to buy the transfer stamp, and a clean-enough record to pass the background check.

Possession of any automatic firearm on the list is explicitly legal, and no license is required.
