In such case, a twelve gauge shotgun with slugs is indicated for application or a rifle. Not really true that either round will crush your rib cage wearing armor. Same principle on body armor is used as for automobiles--make the bullet give up its energy before penetration. There is one documented case though where a leo was shot with a 45/70 at close range and while the vest stopped the bullet--the energy transference was enough to cause an apparent aneurysm killing the leo.

All true. However, it's been well-established that ANY armed resistance against active shooters radically reduces the number of casualties, if only because it distracts the shooter. More often though, resistance makes the shooter choose suicide to avoid being captured.
So the ballistic effectiveness calculus isn't nearly as important as one might think.

Last time I shot my Garand, it was at one-inch thick steel hanging target at 50yds with low-vel hand-loaded FMJ (scrap steel target, not a pricey target.) I fired all 8 rounds. The target did not move. I thought I missed it completely. Then I walked up to the target, and there were 8 clean holes; looked like a laser had melted thru one-inch steel. The cops "set up a perimeter" around the school. Cowards.
It took a Border Patrol agent to actually go into the school and engage the shooter.
The story says that the kid crashed his truck in a ditch, 911 was called reporting an armed intruder onto school grounds and cops arrived in time to engage in a gun fight with the kid before he ever entered the school. And then he was still able to gain entry and barricade himself into a classroom, whereupon he massacred the students and teachers.
I assume you are also correct that THEN the cops set up a perimeter, and the BP officer said "fuck it" and went and ended it.

My assessment is that they are moving through the stages of grief and are getting close to acceptance. Four years ago they would be talking about how they were going get rid of DeSantis. Now they are talking about how to keep their head down and not lose their jobs (these were teachers).
The gun control people would be screeching about banning guns, today they are crying "nothing will change".
I believe that nothing will change to address school security until these liberals finally give up on their gun control fantasy and come to the table to discuss realistic solutions.
Of course Biden doesn't care, this is just an opportunity to try to gin up the base. Not sure they are responding

That's how you lead most people around by the nose. They read, or hear "he reunited the West" and they, in turn, believe it; as long as they were inclined to support Biden in the first place. So we're talking about a quarter to a third of the public. More so with women, less with men.
OTOH, throw out some "back the Blue", and you'll get a similar response from those already inclined to support the police. Long story short, at least half the people you see in reality every day don't think. They don't analyze. They feel, and they want those feelings validated.

While I can't speak from, ahem, *direct* experience, I am 99% sure that the 3 or 4 hottest and most well-endowed girls at my HS were not products of the surgeon's knife. I did not go to Beverly Hills High. It's possible that a couple in the drama department at my state college had had enhancements, but again, it was not something just any girl did then.

one of the biggest questions here. every elementary school I've been to in Texas it's locked doors, buzzing in, check ID. Whether it was an inner city school or a small town

It's forgotten that about a decade ago the highest ranking of Democrats were up to their ears with Operation Fast & Furious. (A House committee voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress, and President Obama invoked executive privilege to protect disputed documents.)
The progressives need a solid platform so they'll try to go whole hog on a gun grab from the Deplorable who are largely are decent people, controllable through family, employment, religion. (They're just so foolish to believe a big swath of their southern border crossers and others will be grateful and obedient to them (progressives), and won't arm-up & further add to the violence in the "affordable" border suburbs around cities. How do we stop them?

They could have secured every school in their States, if not to show a way forward towards protecting children then simply to deny the Democrats the opportunity for propaganda.
There is no reason that it should be easier to walk into a school than it is to walk into a Jeweller's store.
