14 Elementary School Students and One Teacher Dead in School Shooting Spree In Texas
Shooter Exchanged Gunfire With Border Patrol Agents Before Barricading Himself Inside School, But Was US Citizen
The monster who did this is also dead. He was a student at a local high school.
Fourteen students and a teacher are dead after a shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, according to Gov. Greg Abbott. The 18-year-old suspect, a student at Uvalde High School, is also dead, he said. "He shot and killed horrifically and incomprehensibly 14 students and killed a teacher," Abbott said during an unrelated press briefing. The suspect also allegedly shot his grandmother before entering the school and again opening fire, Abbott said. He did not say anything further about her condition. Abbott said the shooter had a handgun and also possibly a rifle.Awful. Just absolutely horrifying. Multiple responsible people in these schools should be armed. The shooter's name is, I'm told, Salvador Romas, so: White Hispanic Alert. And we're going to have to crack down on that Disinformation that led him to this. The Daily Mail says "Salvador Roma."

All deleting this stuff does is give the corrupt corporate leftwing media an unearned priority in exploiting this stuff. They get access to it and can drip it out for profit. Delete it eventually -- you don't want these guys to have online shrines to them -- but in the period of newsworthiness, let people research these animals. Update: The killer was a murder suspect and there was a BOLO for his truck. The shootout with border patrol might have just been a chance encounter, with them spotting the truck they had the BOLO for. I imagine he was a murder suspect in his grandmother's murder but who knows, maybe he killed someone else. Update: His purported Instagram was discovered.

A "chase" implies that he was in front, they were behind. So they didn't have a lot of control over where he went.

Schools, by their very nature are not optimally designed for security, especially elementary schools, and so are an easy target for a mass killer wanting to run up the score. Chris has some good tips but one of the biggest unavoidable issues is the gun free zone problem for staff and the stiff cost for adding full time police officers for security in schools. To combat that problem, there are some techniques that help but not alleviate the dangers totally.

Probably not far from the truth. My wife's school has "security." He is invariably on his phone with earbuds in and music blasting. We have video, taken from a kid's Instagram, of a fight taking place ten yards from him. His head is down, and he's fiddling with his phone for at least the first 2/3 of the fight.

I was just telling my kids that all I've done is work since I was 9 yo (while going to school, of course) and how it was a shame that it's all different, now. The good thing is it came up because they asked when they could get a job (oldest isn't even teen, yet). Made me proud. I remember a couple decades ago, John Lott noting that some community (in Tennessee IIRC) passed a law REQUIRING all residents to carry a firearm -- which caused crime to virtually disappear.

Sandy Hook. The elementary school that had been closed for 5 years where the shootings took place, and the Lanza House was bulldozed into the ground. The sloppy sniper (fake and gay) David Wheeler who also just happened to play the role as one of the parents of the kids who were killed. And the entire community received new houses and shit while having to sign NDAs. Can't look at the evidence, cattle, new Connecticut Law signed right after said so...

Prayers up. In positive news, I have two friends from church who have both recently beat breast cancer and stage four lung cancer. My girlfriend survived breast cancer years ago, and it came back, but she's clear now and having reconstructive surgery.
Prayers work.
In light of others going through way worse, I hesitate to mention I had a biopsy for a possible melanoma on my scalp yesterday. Would appreciate prayers as well.

Oldcat, the school guy was a licensed experienced deputy delegated to school duties--not a rent a cop. Like you said, city cops from another jurisdiction led the way into the school while the school deputy did little of nothing. Turns out that the now deposed Sheriff Israel and the school deputy were buddies and that deputy was assigned there as a cushy duty to ease into retirement.

That's one of my questions as well. At my wife's school, every exterior door is locked from the outside AND the inside, so even students can't let their friends in. A window maybe?

Regarding security for elementary schools in Texas - yes in the larger towns there is a buzz in system, but this is in the sticks - I cant emphasize this enough.
Just down the road (Hwy 90) you will see signs like: "Dont pick up any hitchhikers", etc. I am very serious. It is just a war zone. I know several ranchers (my former CPA lived in Knippa, 4th generation ranching family). ALL THE TIME they get alerts to "shelter in place" as Border Patrol runs down smugglers. My ladies from church come in and relate how many times / who had to be on alert that week.

The gun was purchased by somebody else. And I have no idea. It was likely not his rifle.
Angry, neurotic kid, and somebody fed him that rifle. Somebody with money.
The Cartels are here, and they mean to be in control and make more money. And create fear and chaos first. And get "Hispanics" to appeal to THEM to give them protection. Like the Mafia did in Italy.
My guess is that someone (Cartel soldier) gave him the rifle and said "go to it!"

Not excusing the guy at all. He was fully armed and actually knew of the suspect and did nothing for crucial minutes while reportedly hearing shots coming from the building.
As an aside, old training doctrine for police in active spree killings was to wait and concentrate for an entry team. The newer one that is generally taught now is to engage a spree killer as soon as possible even if the police officer has no backup.

In light of today's atrocity, I looked up whether teachers could conceal carry in Florida.
Not only can they, but there's a Guardian Program (https://www.fldoe.org/safe-schools/guardian-program.stml) for training and certification of school employees, even teachers, in many counties.

They'll go in, cut it out, and make sure it's all gone. If not, they go in again. No worries. It's usually very successful.

Stay strong. Even slightly visible perimeter defense is a deterrent. And word gets out. Avoid your church is the story.
May you not need to, but shoot on target if needed, until any possible danger is gone.

I studied this depressing school shooting topic for several years for professional reasons and almost always it came down to a weird kid (or in Columbine--kids) that simply wanted the world to burn. Most of them had absent fathers but not all. One MS shooter captured by an armed principal and asked why he did it stated to Principal _______ after captured, 'they done wronged me'.

Yeah, at the shooting at an Oregon community college six years ago, two local cops showed up, and immediately engaged the shooter without waiting for backup.
Saved a lot of lives.

NY shooter...19 prior arrests, several for gun crimes, served two years of a 3year sentence, was arrested april 2020 again carrying a gun...was still waiting on court date for that charge.(Could have just violated him from parole, put him back inside...zero doubt he was felon in possession, mandatory 5years.)

I also have a personal view of these school shootings. My hometown suffered one of the early ones and my wife was student teaching at the time at another school in the county. It could have been her as a casualty.
Major issue in confronting spree killers is you go medieval on them immediately--fire extinguishers are excellent as both a blunt object, heavy thrown object, and offensive weapon via spraying at the eyes of the killer if you can't carry. You can equip your computer bag/backpack with relatively lightweight bulletproof panels that will stop the common AR 223 or less, book cases, etc. are excellent bullet stops, etc. Desks, notebooks, books, etc should be thrown in a hail of attacking by students because the natural impulse toward thrown items is to track those and not targets.

Depressing book but Chris Bird has an excellent book out on Mass Killers that you can find on Amazon with excellent strategies how to deal with them. He had a varied career including British military and firearms trainer--then journalist and author.

I do not think he was gonna shoot up a school, it is just the fates that he crashed his truck in front of a school. But what he did there after....drugs?...and or total Psych case + drugs?
Glad LEO's put him room temp either way. Need to do a LOT more of that early in these drama's. And how bout some armed folks in our soft targets across this nation?
