Despite White House's Denials, Federal Tax-Payer Funded Drug-Use "Harm Reduction" Packages Do Contain Crack Pipes
The White House lied about this before, and they just lied about it again.
Incidentally, it wasn't just the White House -- and Jenny Pflapjacks -- lying about this. All of the "journalists" of the leftwing media and "pfactcheckers" checked zero pfacts but pronounced Jenny Pflapjacks to be telling the truth about the crackpipes. But Free Beacon did what "Real Journalists" don't dare to do -- they left their homes, departed their computer screens, and actually entered The Real World to put their hands on real, physical objects that exist in the real world. And they found the "harm reduction kits" in five east coast cities do in fact contain crack pipes. And what are the "Real Journalists" (who read Twitter all fucking day long) and "pfact checkers" (who check no facts) going to say now?But the Free Beacon went out to the centers distributing the kits, and found crack pipes in most of them. And even in the ones that didn't contain crack pipes -- the centers told them they wanted to include crack pipes, but they weren't available for purchase.

Free Beacon Investigates: Five cities, five free crack pipes
Crack pipes are distributed in safe-smoking kits up and down the East Coast, raising questions about the Biden administration's assertion that its multimillion-dollar harm reduction grant program wouldn't funnel taxpayer dollars to drug paraphernalia. The findings are the result of Washington Free Beacon visits to five harm-reduction organizations and calls to over two dozen more. In fact, every organization we visited--facilities in Boston, New York City, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Richmond, Va.--included crack pipes in the kits.
The kits became the subject of national attention in the wake of a Free Beacon report in February indicating that a $30 million harm-reduction program was set to fund the distribution of free crack pipes in "safe-smoking kits." Pressed on the matter in a Feb. 9 press briefing, White House press secretary Jen Psaki issued a full-throated denial. "They were never a part of the kit, it was inaccurate reporting," Psaki said of the pipes. "A safe smoking kit may contain alcohol swabs, lip balm, other materials to promote hygiene and reduce the transmission of diseases."
... The Free Beacon's findings contradict claims from a raft of fact-checkers who, based on the White House's ex-post-facto denial, deemed the Free Beacon's reporting false. A USA Today headline asking, "What's inside a safe smoking kit?" answered: "No, it's not a crack pipe." The outlet based its fact-check solely on the administration's denial and does not appear to have done any additional research on safe smoking kits. The author, Michelle Shen, did not respond to a request for comment.All she did was take the White House's denial and "report" it as "fact." The Free Beacon has pictures of the crack pipes and all the contents of the "harm reduction kits." Are the pfact checkers going to claim that the pictures are photoshopped?

I was just having a discussion the other day about Sam Raimi, and I equated him to Carpenter. There's a generation or two of filmgoers where both showed a whole bunch of film fans the role of the director while aiming primarily for "entertainment". It's cemented both in many minds as some of the greatest directors due to a combination of factors (their talent and skill being two of the most important, mind you), but their elevations seem to be generational that way. Like, the next generation will view Carpenter like mine views Ford. Really talented, made great movies, but is of another time and doesn't speak to them as intimately as whatever new director will replace them.

Maybe. I think part of it is also the age I was when I saw them. The stuff you watch in your late teens, early 20s, really gets to be a part of your vocabulary and even your dreams and fantasies. I had seen Hawks and Ford films when I was young, but I didn't have the brainpower to appreciate the art and craft. I DID have that later, but then...I was older. And fewer of them stuck as 'favorite' films

Yeah, the stuff that hits you at the formative years towards the beginning of adulthood does seem to leave a greater impression.
My Top 10 was made when I was about 21 (I'll never revise it because work and laziness and pointlessness), but I still love all ten. The one that really sticks out as generational is The Lord of the Rings. That thing came out in my final years of high school and first year of college. Very dear to me, and I wonder if it would stick with me had I been ten years older or younger.

I'm not so sure it will impact price. There is no denying that twitter has impact, so the bot accounts would mostly affect where that impact goes. Remove the bots and it might be a sane place to get information. I think the impact justifies stock price if they can turn that into revenue, which I think they can.
Their problem is that it is not as easy as google and facebook since they make a lot of money on very directed adds. Not news.

I think a lot of people have been asking questions for years, but organizations like Google have been against any sort of serious look because they make too much money on ads to screw with anything.
There's been a lot of institutional pressure to leave the bot problem alone.

Ask anyone in advertising about Facebook's claims about how many people see ads there. It's an open secret that Facebook eyes on ads claims result in far fewer sales numbers than almost anyone else. Facebook overinflates real human eyes on ads by at least 300%. If anyone ever really wanted to take out Facebook, this is their Achilles' heel.

True story. Years ago I worked for startup that was based in Silicon Valley. We were merging with a company HQed in Boston and the new company was to be renamed.
I had a customer meeting lined up with the president of my company and as we were driving from the airport to the customer's office I asked him if the new name had been chosen yet. He said they had a team of branding consultants working on it but they weren't ready to announce it yet.
I suggested Bay Networks might be a good name since it played on SF Bay and MA Bay. He almost swallowed his tongue and blurted out "Who told you!".
