He did a nice job with that water landing; clearly his landing gear had failed, so wear to land? If you try to slide in on the beach, you'll probably flip and definitely wreck the aircraft; deep water and it sinks. Landing in just a few feet of water protects the craft; I think it should have been restored easily.

She's got a med school loan. Back in October, we got a notice saying that we had one year of payments left on the IBR plan - essentially September 2022 would be our last payment.
Then yesterday we got a notice saying "LOL just kidding NOW you have 12 payments left." What? Ok whatever.
Today we got another letter, dated the day after the one yesterday saying "congrats your loan's been forgiven!" Checked the loan servicer's website and the balance is $0.00 but the federal website still has a balance on it.
We want to pop the Champs. What do we do?

There were a couple, one in particular, that used to live on the outer reef where I used to teach. We'd go spearfishing out there after work and this little guy would see us coming and come out and visit.
He clearly knew us and knew we weren't going to harm him, tasty though he might be. Every once in a while he would allow you to hold him and he would wrap on your arm and look you right in the eye. You could see in his eyes that there was some higher level of intelligence going on.

A-10s, F-16s, F-15s - they all have their own voice.
Spend a month listening to C-17s taking off at 0600 and flying directly over my hotel. When I got home, it took me a while to get used to the *absence* of that sound.

Amazing guy. I talked to him a couple of times - he came back to the same event and I was assigned to cover it, so it was nice to see him recognize me.
He flew P-40s, P-47s and P-51s and when I asked him which he liked best, he gave me a look like I was stupid. "The P-51!" He said it was like a high-end sports car. The P-47 was a flying brick. Didn't care for the P-40, either.

Sights like that are rare. The day of the cease fire in Desert Storm, I was flying with the CG up to our forward units. I remember looking down and seeing tank after tank after tank all the way to the horizon. I was just stunned. No army on earth could stand up to us that day.
