I saw that a golf journalist named Tim Rosaforte died today. He died from complications because of Alzheimer's. He was 66. I liked him. I have no idea about his politics as he kept everything he wrote (that I saw, anyway) about golf. Probably what I liked about him. Seems young for Alzheimer's but I guess it can strike at any time. He seemed like an ok dude. Sometimes that's good enough.

Ronnie Spector dead at 78. I saw her at City Winery three years ago, and many times before
Her father was an Irish NYC bus driver. He married a black / Cherokee woman and they lived in Spanish Harlem. The Ronettes - Be My Baby Brian Wilson was obsessed with this song, and would often play it a hundred times a day. (I never got over 20). Wrecking Crew at its best. The incomparable Hal Blaine on drums. When the Ronnetes first toured the UK, The Rolling Stones were their opening act. The tour bus driver got badly lost in the fog in rural England, and so it was decided that Ronnie and Keith Richards would knock on the door of a farm house and ask for directions. So a hobbit farmer opens the door to see a Blackish young woman and a wannabee pirate emerging from the fog. If you're into bears waving for food I recommend The Olympic Game Farm in NW Washington State. https://olygamefarm.com/
You buy a loaf of bread, drive through and feed the animals. Prairie dogs, bison, bears and other animals. Ever feel the need to have an elk blow snot on your steering wheel? Olympic game farm is the place for you. One hooved beast will block your car and the others will beg for food. And yes, the carb-addicted bears will wave for bread -- but don't worry, the bears can't get to your car. They're safely contained behind one single strand of (hopefully electrified) wire. I gotta say it's a hoot and a half for the whole fam. Posted by: 29Victor at January 12, 2022 08:12 PM (BJKQV) 185

(My case was that objective training requirements would be justified because they would supersede subjective "need to have" rules designed to prevent Teh Help from having protection legally.)

Indiana is about to go Constitutional Carry. Posted by: Cicero Kaboom! Kid. The Indiana House has voted to let you carry a gun without a permit. On a near party-line vote, the House voted 63-29 to join 21 states which have abolished permit requirements to carry handguns. It's the second straight year the House has voted to get rid of gun permits - last year's bill didn't get a vote in the Senate. The Senate won't take up House-passed bills until next month. 339 I've grown tired of listing and/or remembering them:
And of course, Geraldo Rivera has moved to Cleveland to establish residency to run for the Senate seat (as a Democrat) opened up by Portman moving on to his new K Street lobbying job. --------- The Ohio GOP is persisting in believing that NAFTA is still useful and successful policy. It has led them to make mistakes that has both hurt them and the Buckeye State since Clinton's second term. The only reason that Ohio hasn't turned into a perpetually flushing economic toilet is that the Democrats have done little when they were in power statewide except encourage people to vote Republican, and the Republicans have had some moments of sanity when they have let money and industry into the state instead of letting it all leave. I have no fear of Geraldo Rivera. Ohioans who know of his continued existence regard him as a con man and a socio-political twinkee. just an aside from earlier today ... but imo Ann Coulter probably did much more to get Trump elected in 2016 than anyone here. She gave him a copy of her Adios America book, and I think consulted on the border issue that vaulted Trump to victory.
But here she is assaulted in perverse terms ... bag of bones, whore for attention, flucked Bill Maher .. but she went on Maher's show and said Trump had the best chance. THEN when Trump went soft on border control and kept putting anti-border control people in top positions, Coulter confronted him and Trump denounced her. idk ... her books are edgy and on point, she speaks "truth to power" in her speeches ... imo she is a front line fighter, but I have not followed her lately. Sure she sells books ... Good Books. I really don't get the hate and acceptance of such vile personal attacks on her. She is a warrior ... not an easy thing to do. Whatever problems constitutional carry may come with are offset by the legal protection it provides against 2A infringement. If we learn nothing else from the last two years of public-policy psychosis, it should be that even many ostensibly conservative states have no problem crapping all over life, liberty and pursuit of happiness if the political leadership thinks it serves some esoteric greater good.

--------- A blast wall, ha, so this is what the bravery of the Democrats at outing the terrifying fascist Trump has come to! It's not a castle or fortress wall. Castle and fortress walls for a base for the control of a given region. Posted by: Anti doesn't matter at January 12, 2022 09:28 PM (FCAbp) I am fortunate that yours is not a majority opinion. In Germany the right to own arms does not include "purchasing without government permission" so I feel fortunate that that is not a local interpretation as well. The Sullivan act in New York was set up in part to give the police the option to harass, search and arrest individuals they police suspected of being mobsters, and it was so badly used by the police that the actual mobsters would sew their pockets shut and have someone else carry their cigarettes, matches and handkerchiefs because the police started slipping pistols into pockets while they were doing a pat down. All the prohibition you like does is to create a jailable offense, and will not change behavior. It hasn't worked in the last 140 years, it clearly is not working today, and with that history, I have small hope it will work tomorrow either. right, except it is not Zero .. but it is reduced. Again I don't have a problem with it but most law abiding people who want to carry a gun already have a license. Those who carry and wield firearms responsibly will do well and won't have much trouble with the authorities. Those who don't will get themselves removed from consideration through their own bad choices or run afoul of the police. And as you've cited, the professionally criminal types have skirted the rule of law (including firearms laws) for quite a while now. There is nothing to stop them from doing so, but with Constitutional Carry the mere public possession of a firearm is not a criminal offense. Posted by: CharlieBrown'sDildo at January 12, 2022 09:42 PM (Q9lwr) I have thought about this a lot. Felons tend to be felons because they are f*cking stupid, drugged up and stupid, or really f*cking stupid. There may be a solution for a percentage of them if they see a reason to turn their lives around, but forcing them to the bottom of society and keeping them there hasn't worked. In short, helping stupid people has a low ROI, but hurting them is less valuable. However, removing their rights because they were in jail turns the world into a prison and I don't want to run it or be a prison guard. Posted by: Kindltot at January 12, 2022 09:51 PM (ZMraq) 569

Also, how pray tell does "I raped a girl and got away with it!" turn anyone into a better person? It just turns them into a more confident rapist.

"You are correct, "severely reduced immunity capability" would have been a far better choice of words"
yes, well, that is another issue .. it was reduced, how severely .. depends on how isolated people became. I think many lived mostly normal lives, and even if they wore masks, that did not "severely" interfere with normal transmission of viral infections ... maybe some of the social isolation did, idk. Mostly we are flooded with bad data, manipulated date. Posted by: illiniwek at January 12, 2022 09:57 PM (Cus5s) 584

I hope so! I said I wasn't going to get tested but I am just out of curiosity. A friend has in home test kits she got from her mom who works in a nursing home. I don't know how reliable they are but I'm not going any further than that. Going over there tomorrow. Posted by: Jewells45 deplorablethug#FJB at January 12, 2022 09:57 PM (nxdel) 587

568 I have thought about this a lot. Felons tend to be felons because they are f*cking stupid, drugged up and stupid, or really f*cking stupid. There may be a solution for a percentage of them if they see a reason to turn their lives around, but forcing them to the bottom of society and keeping them there hasn't worked.
However, removing their rights because they were in jail turns the world into a prison and I don't want to run it or be a prison guard. Posted by: Kindltot at January 12, 2022 09:51 PM (ZMraq) I've been thinking about this as well lately, partly due to the ongoing efforts by the ruling class to turn half the country into either felons or some similar status for political gain. The rules as is maybe worked back in the day when there were a lot more small businesses whose owners didn't really give a shit, but now that employment is dominated by bureaucrats it's become very exclusionary. In general the HR robots' job is to find reasons to not hire someone and they've become exceedingly efficient at it. Posted by: CppThis at January 12, 2022 10:01 PM (UewuT) 597

575 That 'family' needs to shove their Virtue Signaling up their posterior. What kind of message are they telling their daughter?
========== They have no message there for their daughter. That is a public plea not to be canceled for blaming a fake tranny for the crime committed against their daughter. I know which political party they likely support. No, it's not fair for their daughter, but it's 2022 and this is the trend that is prevalent in society. >>Never vaxxed. Never Covid. And I spend 40hrs/week working in a covid cesspit. It's been circulating in the population for over two years... Everyone's been exposed to it by now. Some people are asymptomatic, some people have had it to such a mild extent that it was probably believed to be an CLI or the sniffles or something else. My grandsons' daycare was just shut down for 14 days because a mom Karen just had to get here asymptomatic kid tested because the omnicron is stalking the land. It's really, really getting stupid.
