I've been to her long-time home, the Ghost Ranch property in northern NM, with its view of that flat-topped mountain she painted so often. And I've seen the cliffs she painted with the cream and reddish horizontal stripes. She was not making that up.
A lot of people don't know she lived and worked in Texas for a time -- teaching art in Canyon, the little town south of Amarillo and west of Palo Duro Canyon. This, I think, was before she discovered NM. Thereafter, every summer, she'd leave her husband in NY and head out via train and car to the Taos area. (She thought Santa Fe was too crowded and commercial even in the '30s.) The year he died, she packed up and moved permanently. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at January 10, 2022 09:39 AM (txdEq) 63

There's a real-life mystery connected with Taos and socialite Mabel Dodge Luhan, the woman who introduced GO to the world of NM. A house near the Taos plaza that Mabel owned was rented by a well-to-do Eastern businessman. Then, one day in the late '20s, he was found dead -- his body in one room, his head in another. Some people at the time suggested his dog might have done it, but I don't know if it's ever been solved.

It wasn't Republicans who were dragging him back into treating covid like the end of the world, it was his own party. If his own party had just fallen in line with the messaging, Biden might have been able to ride the victory over the "greatest pandemic in the history of man" to having the political capital to potentially peel off someone like Romney or Collins into passing BBB. Who do they think is going to watch these movies? Or are these just all money laundering affairs, as I have seen some people argue? Posted by: Aetius451AD at January 10, 2022 10:58 AM (dNqv+) ========== It's something like the third attempt by Jessica Chastain to start an action franchise starring her. I think much of the angst over "the Boomers" stems from the country's geriatric leadership. We're treated to rule by Nancy Pelosi (at age 81, not even technically a Boomer), Chuck Schumer (age 71), Joe Biden (at age 79 not a Boomer either), an aged group that should have let go of the reigns years ago.
Boomers have suffered from tools with big mouths claiming they were the smartest generation evarrr. Likewise the clowns here that say there hasn't been any good music since the 70s; change your hearing aid battery.
