60 Did some shopping here in mid Ohio yesterday. For employees in most small non chain stores the masks are gone. The big box stores employees still wearing them. Relatively few shoppers with masks but the disturbing part was most masks wearers I saw were younger people.

This is what I heard... Texas went in big on the wind generated stuff (even though T Boone said that was a dry well) Apparently, there's some reason you can't sell wind generated power to another state, but you can sell natural gas. So someone made the business decision to sell you-all the nat gas and leave us with the wind (heh). So there wasn't much incentive to keep the nat gas generators properly maintained. Abbott fired some folks, but no one seems to want to talk about the underlying situation. Wish we still had investigative reporters.

I passed rooms with nobody in them. I also went to visit someone else at rehab. Nobody in the room with her. I think they are limiting people-at least in rehab-because they are short staffed because they were stupid enough to fire healthcare workers who didn't want to get the jab.

What I read about this part was that the FERC / EPA (one of the Fed genius bars anyways) decreed that the gas pipelines could no longer run their pipeline compressor engines off of the natural gas moving through the pipeline due to emissions. Forced switch to electric run generators. Electric grid goes down and the failure chain is complete. Something like that.

I probably got the terminology all crossed up. It was something about powering the compressor engines that push the natural gas through the pipeline. When I lived in PR it was apparent that the culture was much more traditional when it came to gender tha we were in the US. The men were very proud to be men and the women most definitely women. And religion, particularly Catholicism, was still a more important factor in daily life.

I hate to tell them, that I was in the local emergency room several months before Covid-19 and it was the same. Beds lining the hallways and a long wait to be seen. Watched a documentary recently where they talked about the dangers of dating sites and this was the #1 reason. Gave an example of a guy who was living a double life of dating hundreds of women on dating sites, while also being married. Family had no idea of the double life. He was only caught when he ended up raping multiple women. Another case in the documentary was about a serial killer who was using dating sites and then killed multiple women who rejected him. He only was caught when one of the women fought back and then did detective work on her own to tie him to murders of other women who were not as lucky as her to get away.

And the message of the documentary is that these online dating sites (they named Match-dot-com) have no liability. The girl who was raped reported it to Match and told them to get him off the site. They didn't, he raped again, but they were not liable due to some technicality.

Even granting they were telling the truth about the "hunger crisis", they have been complaining about that for decades now. I remember the little milk cartons we folded into little piggy banks in grammar school to collect money for the hungry every year. That was 1980s. So they have been colleting money for this shit for at least 4 decades and they still haven't solved the problem? Well, time to do something else. Doing the same thing (throwing money at the situation) over and over expecting a different result is insanity.

But these people aren't insane at all. They know this is not going to solve any "hunger" problems, this is nothing but a grift to separate suckers from their money, like you said.

I have been using the Kroger Clicklist Pick-Up service since they started it here in SE Michigan back in 2017. So I haven't had to deal with in-store nonsense for 4+ years now. Also cut my grocery shopping time from 30-45 minutes down to 5-10 minutes. Takes me longer to drive to/from the store (10-15 minutes each way) than it does to get my groceries.
