New York State's Top Government Ethics Panel Orders Andrew Cuomo to Pay The State the Full $5.1 Million in Profits He Made from His Quickie Cash-In Book

LOL.

This is sounds pretty communist, except... he was only granted an exception regarding making money outside of his official state salary on the condition that he not use state resources to write the book.

And he did use state resources to write the book. He had state employees writing it for him.

So essentially the State of New York wrote the majority of the book, under the direction of Cuomo.

New York’s top ethics panel on Tuesday ordered disgraced ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo to pay the state $5.1 million in book profits he made on the backs of taxpayers amid the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The extraordinary resolution was approved by the Joint Commission on Public Ethics in a 12-1 vote — a month after the ethics agency voted to revoke its prior approval allowing Cuomo to earn outside income from his book “American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic” while he was still governor and New York was in the throes of the deadly coronavirus outbreak.

JCOPE rescinded its approval after concluding that Cuomo violated pledges not to use state resources or government staffers to prepare the book. He must pay the money to the state by next month.

....

Cuomo’s book deal also is being investigated by James, the FBI, and the Brooklyn US Attorney’s Office. The state Assembly Judiciary Committee’s impeachment report found that Cuomo used staffers extensively to help prepare the book — though he insisted the work was done voluntarily and legally.

Right, state employees under your authority were "volunteering" to do your outside-of-their-job-duties work for you.

Purely voluntarily.

Whatever, they were still doing this while being paid by the state. And of course they were using state-paid hours for the work.

So yeah, they were "volunteering" to use hours for which they were being compensated by the state for the personal benefit of Don Cuomo.

And:

Cuomo’s team was also accused of low-balling coronavirus-related nursing home deaths while he negotiated the book deal, leading to accusations he was trying to look better to make a quick buck off the tragedy.

There's no legal principle implicated by that, except for the one of How Dare You.

Cuomo says the panel's actions are unconstitutional, which they could turn out to be, and that he'd challenge them in court.

It was revealed a couple of days ago that Andrew sent Fredo on a mission to dig up political dirt on Janice Dean to discredit her.

Brian Schwartz

@schwartzbCNBC

Scoop: Andrew Cuomo's top aide Melissa DeRosa and Chris Cuomo discussed with allies ways to discredit Fox News' @JaniceDean over her criticism of the way the then governor handled nursing homes during the Covid-19 pandemic, sources tell me.

They called her "the Fox weather b*tch."

Chris Cuomo schemed to discredit Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean, allegedly calling her "that Fox weather bitch" in texts after she criticized Gov. Andrew Cuomo for transferring COVID-19 patients to nursing homes.

Fox's senior meteorologist Dean lost her mother and father-in-law to COVID in March and April of 2020, and became an outspoken critic of the governor and his deadly policy to allow COVID-19 patients into nursing homes, saying on "Fox & Friends," "He needs to go to jail!"

According to a source, canned CNN anchor Chris wanted to fight to defend his brother and texted with Andrew’s staff about how to discredit Dean.

The source said Chris allegedly asked in a text to an Andrew Cuomo staffer how he could go after "this Fox weather bitch..... Any help painting her as a far right crazy?"

May we all be blessed to have family members who will defend us -- or avenge us -- like "that Fox weather b*tch."

Update: Convicted mob boss Sammy "The Bull" Gravano says that Andrew Cuomo makes him ashamed to be an Italian.

Even mobsters say they wouldn't commit the grubby murders-for-donors this scumbag did.

The former boss of the Gambino crime family in New York City, Sammy "The Bull" Gravano, tore into Cuomo in a new series alongside former Colombo caporegime Michael Franzese over the deadly scandal that became a black mark on the former governor's administration.

"I hate to get into Gov. Cuomo. I will a little bit because he’s Italian and I can't stand it," Gravano said in the clip obtained by Fox News, confirming his disdain for the then-governor when pressed by host and moderator Patrick Bet-David.

"One, because he’s Italian and I’m embarrassed to have someone do what he did as an Italian," The Bull continued. "He killed 15,000 people by putting people with the coronavirus in [nursing homes] with old people."

"I don't give a f--- who tells me to do that, whether it's [former President] Trump, the president, the vice president, you, him, I would never do it," Gravano said, gesturing to Bet-David and Franzese. "And I'm a badass. I'd never do it."

Gravano also said that when an individual does something like the former governor's scandal and has "no concern," he thinks about his family, including his "great-grandchildren who aren’t even born" that are "going to deal with s*** like this."

The policy in NY and elsewhere was idiotic and indefensible, but that doesn't mean it ended up mattering very much.

Nearly every throwaway line about outcomes in "blue" states (there was one in a post earlier, about Whitmer and MI) stipulates, takes as valid, the ridiculous false framework that is the entire disaster of C19: that you can mitigate or otherwise contain a prevalent highly infectious virus.

Snarking that stupid policies are stupid, or contrary to prudent guidelines and needlessly increase possible risk, I guess isn't as catchy as talking about "killing the elderly", but it might be just one more false assumption. Pointing out the incredible arrogance and bad faith of garbage like the Cuomo crew, which tried to cover their tracks for a publicly published order on the matter, and even lied to deny issuing it, is fairly lively, and on much firmer ground.

108 is this true...
Dr. Fauci Admits That Covid Vaccines May Actually Make People 'Worse': "It Would Not Be The First Time"

Dr. Anthony Fauci sat down with "Meta" CEO Mark Zuckerberg and finally said out loud what many people have been warning for over a year about the rushed mRNA vaccines: They may actually make the Covid pandemic worse.
Dr. Fauci was commenting on a recent study that showed that the Covid vaccines may actually make a recipient more likely to be reinfected than someone with natural immunity from a prior infection.
"This would not be the first time, if it happened, that a vaccine that looked good in initial safety actually made people worse," Fauci said. "There was the history of the Respiratory Syncitial Virus vaccine in children, which paradoxically made the children worse."
Pause and read that again. Now consider all of the announcements made by "public health experts" that promised the "vaccines" were "100% safe and effective," even for children who are at nearly zero risk.

135 Data integrity is definitely an issue, a yuuuge one, with C19, but as with much economic data, there are ways to de-f**k it, clean it up, present a few different versions applying different definitions and assumptions, that could give at least suggestive conclusions.

FL followed the normal, common sense practice WRT infected and nursing facilities, I think, from the start. Compare their numbers to NY's (IFR and/or CFR for nursing home residents). Probably close. Very basic comparisons like this can be done, with ample caveats for data quality.

My wife, who was always a conservative, before I was, and who also hates the aforementioned term, told me that I should not use that term in reference to Hillary Clinton, because it would humanize Hillary.

187 Dave, that's what I was talking about, but an actual rigorous data-based look. To see if the numbers were much different. I'd guess they weren't. Remember, even really stupid policies, implemented by stupid people in bad faith, don't always matter.

And there were many people - not at the level of governor of a US state - making sense from the outset on C19.

I myself wasted millions of electrons right here for weeks or months talking about and linking to pretty important stuff, though few ever seemed interested (Wuhan lab and other squirrels were the teen craze, actually understanding how "mitigation" was a disastrous mistake didn't get much attention).

The really dark lining inside the very dark cloud here (yes, my specialty) is the near-universal collapse of medical science, globally, on all this. And the way it's revealed the emptiness, or alien totalitarian obsessions, of other institutions, and of course the ignorant submissive degradation of much of the population (everywhere).

financially driven decision, patients like that have no real insurance, generally are paid by Medicare, and require intensive nursing, and often die.
Cuomo was supposedly petitioned by representatives of the hospitals to return the patients to the nursing homes because of the financial hit.

I won't say it was the equivalent of putting ancient Inuit elders on ice floes because generally the elders requested it during periods of famine to protect their communities.

244 Thanks Gref. It's the world's most important open secret, has been from the beginning, that "policies" don't have any material effect on spread or impact of the virus. But then again, that was the uncontroversial settled doctrine of public health up to March 2020 for such things. Based on a century of observation and actual science.

I was thinking specifically of comparing nursing home IFRs and CFRs between NY and the other states that did similar things and states like FL. Not general population data.

I know it exists because early on, when I was living/breathing all of this, one of the independent observers, who had decided to focus on this aspect, was doing daily and weekly comparisons of nursing home fatalities in different states. I was just speculating that the fatality rates between the NY group of states and the FL group of states would likely be fairly similar.

Speculating. But it would make sense.

Well, la-tay-da, everyone who's anyone (which is everyone here) knows that the Pantone Color of the Year for 2022 is PANTONE 17-3938, otherwise known as "Very Peri", a wonderful blue that will undoubtedly be discussed at length by the 'ettes for weeks on the various Fashion Threads that sprout around here like mushrooms after a rain.

Phonetically, it's "Pan it, Tony". Made famous by Italian director filming Eastwood in the Psgetti Westerns, telling Tony the Cinematographer to slowly and smoothly swing the camera to capture the scene.

Didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last nite, but I did have a slice of pie at Brooklyn Pizzeria for lunch, so that'll be close enough. Capiche?

287 "Cuomo says the panel's actions are unconstitutional, which they could turn out to be, and that he'd challenge them in court."

Go work for a computer firm; any one in the state.
This isn't a just one company thing... ANY one.
Design any software for sale using company resources.
Find out what happens.

Tip: Expect to also say it "could be Unconstitutional".
