Shock: Don Lemon Used His Own Journalistic Resources to Tip Off Jussie Smollett That Police Were Suspicious of His Farcical Hate Crime Hoax

Absolutely gutted. If we can't believe in Don Lemon, what can we believe in?

Note that Lemon's warning would caused Smollett to reduce cooperation with police. So Lemon was playing lawyer for a subject he was "covering" as a "journalist."

Nick Arama at RedState points out that Don Lemon admitted that he had an emotional connection to Jussie Smollett, who, like Don Lemon, was black and gay and who had also suffered zero discrimination in his overpromoted life:

Lemon has already said that he was in constant contact with Smollett early on in the case and that the story was "personal" to him.

During his testimony, Smollett said he refused to give police his cell phone because Don Lemon had warned him the police didn't believe him:

Megan Crepeau
@crepeau

He also says he declined to give his phone to CPD in part because earlier he'd gotten a text from Don Lemon "saying he'd gotten a text from CPD saying they don't believe me."

objections, then a sidebar.

The police were not interacting with Don Lemon as a pal. They were responding to his questions as a "journalist" -- and likely, they were attempting to blunt his hot-tempered, accusatory questions like "Why don't you racists already have these MAGA terrorists arrested?"

So he was flinging that kind of question at police, elicited the response "We don't know if we actually believe Smollett," immediately passed that to a subject he was covering, and Smollett immediately used that information to decided to not share his cell phone with cops.

Although, given the fact that the cell phone contained his interactions with the Nigerian brothers, it's a fair bet he'd already decided not to do that.

But again, as with Fredo, we have a "journalist" using his resources and cachet as a CNN "reporter" to get information which he then passes on to a subject he has an emotional connection to.

Of course, that's not the only way in which Don Lemon resembles Fredo Cuomo.

CNN has continued to stand behind Don Lemon, who has allegedly tried to settle with Hice [the man that Don Lemon sexually assaulted] on multiple occasions. In response to the network terminating Chris Cuomo for alleged sexual misconduct and for using CNN resources to aid his brother's crisis team, Hice told Fox News Digital that the network protects predators.

"They're a network rife with predators and perverts," Hice said. "Lemon will have to testify under oath in the near future, but it's good to see that there's finally some accountability happening."

"This is who they are. They're a predator-protecting machine, they slander and smear victims with impunity," Hice added.

Kinzinger is his example of a "legislator" who gets things done without all the chaff.

Crenshaw is McCain. He's more interested in comity and "getting things done" and policing our side than actually advancing conservative principles.

Two glaring examples are Red Flag laws and the vaccine databases. Crenshaw is a staunch Red Flag law defender and claims that he voted for the vaccine databases because it would add "guardrails to already existing databases." How about fucking eliminating the already existing databases? Ever think of that, Dan?

95 I'll believe that when I see it. If the supposed new owner is actually interested in making a profit, he will try and hire actual journalists who report stories that deal with the who, what, where, when and how of reality. No more no less.

Nothing wrong with punditry and editorials so long as those are clearly identified and defined as such.

That is the current list ... all these athletes have suffered heart problems after COVID shots. At the time of initial writing, 28 died. That was not normal, but then, 10 days later, 56 deaths were listed, and the numbers are climbing. Any other real vaccine would have been pulled off the market long before now. The media would be asking questions. They would be pressuring governments. But they are not. And governments are continuing on and running TV and radio and newspaper ads encouraging people to get their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th shot. Perhaps that is why the mainstream media are saying little, because they are collecting government money for ads?

The Republicans need to own their identity as the Party of No. 'No' is a complete sentence, and a more than sufficient barrier to creeping statism.

Over the last 60 years, there have been literally thousands of legislators in the Federal, state and local governments passing laws like busy little bees. You can't tell me that in that period of time, the vast majority of issues that we are dealing with now haven't been dealt with - at least in some form - by a law already on the books. I want a legislator to force enforcement of existing laws. If they are archaic ones, I want those laws off the books. We don't need new laws, we need a new way of running the country using what we have already.

171 "I have forgotten why any sane person would care what these people say or do."

It is unusual to see some consequences for the people that attempt to whip-up fake hate crimes. Normally the act is widely publicized, any accountability that is applied not so much.
It must have some repercussions, at least one would hope, that family and friends that encourage such nonsense also feel some repudiation at some point.

175 Wrong. Nunes made an enormous actual difference. Tragically, it was the difference between an unbelievable outrage (what actually happened) and an inconceivably horrendous catastrophe. With 50 more Nunes's, in both houses, there might have been a much better outcome from 2017-2020.

The electorate produces - and sustains, infinitely - duds like Crenshaw. A few real people in key positions can at least be speed bumps and saboteurs, as Nunes was for the absurd RUSSIA! nonsense.

Posted by: rhomboid at December 07, 2021 12:37 PM (OTzUX)

176 There's a wide chasm of difference between being "poor on the 2nd amendment" and supporting "red flag" laws. Red flag laws are an appalling and brutal destruction of great parts of the Bill of Rights, not just the second amendment.

Strong 2nd amendment purist or not, red flag laws are a bright line. If you support them, you're the enemy. Crenshaw supports them.

244 The electorate produces - and sustains, infinitely - duds like Crenshaw. A few real people in key positions can at least be speed bumps and saboteurs, as Nunes was for the absurd RUSSIA! nonsense. Posted by: rhomboid

One of the issues with GOPe types like Crenshaw is that they envision themselves as Edmund Burke's trustee leaders. However, Burke's trustee type of leadership comes from honest appraisal of principles applied to politics--such as supporting Americans and Irish peoples versus the King. GOPe trustee types are a mistaken belief that they are better people--smarter, wiser, kinder, than those smelly commoners.
This New Class type of leadership shares a lot in common with the left on values and believes its job to be explaining and gracefully capitulating to what the NYT/WaPo/Corporatists want rather than representing constituents.

246 Not criticizing Nunes. In a country of 330M, it's not his job and that of a handful of people to be the only adults. Let the country get the government it deserves, and votes for.

Crenshaw just seems like the bulk of clueless mediocre GOP types with no real understanding of the issues or the situation, he just babbles vapid Beltwayspeak (GOP Texas "conservative" version). He held a virtual town hall to discuss what goodies his district would get from the ridiculous "infrastructure" bill - a pathetic irresponsible pork-fest with outlandishly idiotic and pernicious crap thrown in.

A significant reason the country is where it is, in all the worst ways, is exactly because of people like Crenshaw, and the voters who create and sustain them.

=====

https://www.etymonline.com/word/gay -->

Slang meaning "homosexual" (adj.) begins to appear in psychological writing late 1940s, evidently picked up from gay slang...

The association with (male) homosexuality likely got a boost from the term gay cat, used as far back as 1893 in American English for "young hobo," one who is new on the road, also one who sometimes does jobs.

Tom, I think that you are right, Malone has the rep of running a tight ship financially and part of the deal with ATT was probably to scuttle high cost 'talent'. News readers are infinitely less expensive and less polarizing so Malone may want to make CNN more reality tv rather than opinion/commentator leadership in prime time. I think that is an approach that might boost ratings a bit as an alternative to Fox or MSNBC and be far cheaper to run the network as no. 3.

WGN is doing something like that with NewsNation rebranding in prime time.

299 Crenshaw's problem is his own belief, fostered by academia, in his own morale righteousness and infallibility. He sees himself as an idealist, when in reality he's really a partisan with an air of arrogance. He's unable to honestly litigate an issue intellectually, because he's convince of his own morale superiority. This is of course endemic to Washington where they substitute hubris and smugness for courage.

I actually understand his decision, although I'll miss him. If we can be honest for a minute, the House of Representatives is an archaic, useless, and powerless clown show that only exists to try to make the plebs think they have some say in how things are being run. (they don't) Everyone in Congress knows that all they do is stand around, collect money from donors, and put on a show with terrible ratings every once in a while. What sane person would actually want to be part of that?

Our three branches of Government today are the Executive, the Bureaucracy (No longer the same as the Executive, they are mostly independent now) and the Judiciary. If you are someone who actually wants to make decisions that matter, you have to be part of one of those branches. That's why Louie is jumping out of the House.

318 Newsmax didn't even wait to make Fox level ratings before selling out to the left I guess.

Since we are now ready for right leaning organizations and people to betray us, they just do it faster.

How many years did we think Paul Ryan was conservative?

319 Vaccines DO work. Gene Therapies are another thing all together.
Posted by: Romeo13

That should be SOME vaccines work. Since you were in the service, remember that Cholera vaccination? Well, eventually it was dropped as a requirement because its effectiveness was under 50 percent. Same as flu shots.

Some require boosters at regular intervals due to immunity decay. Vaccines are an effective tool in some cases but not a silver bullet for every illness that plagues mankind.

mRNA may well work in the end but rushing it into the breach means that essentially we put a prototype that had not been tested much at all into the human species with unforeseen future consequences such as ADE, damage to internal organs, or possible damage to the immune system.

320 So he cops told Lemon expecting he wouldn't tell anyone?

Meanwhile Don Jr. obviously has a nose for hoaxes. I don't want to know what Lemon's nose is for.

---------

Louie has no business being AG of Texas.
Texas is the tip of the lawsuit spear with the Federal Oppressors. They need a quality litigator doing that not a politician.

Louie Gohmert as AG of Texas is a big loss for Texas and the US.

327 I think its worth mentioning the number of matches that have been stopped mid game due to a "medical event" in the stands in England.

I've seen three matches that have been stopped this year alone. As opposed to ZERO since 2010...my personal viewing.
