The High Price Of Dees Nuts Cafe

This squirrel cannot believe what F. Joe Biden is doing to his paycheck!

This bird has his Beer Muscles on, gettin' up in a cat's grill.

Ninja cat goalie.

Nice doggie taking care of his kitten fosters.

Puppy gives you the sad eyes, but then he gives you the happy face.

Bowl of kitten paws.

Cat wants to play hide-n-seek.

This cat is just hiding, supposedly to avoid going to the vet.

A little leopard stalks/hides from a big leopard, and then pops out, scaring the daylights out of the big leopard.

World's tiniest monkey.

Inman: Soy bitch threatens a man, then is struck by the cowardice that is characteristic of his ilk.

Thief succeeds in breaking into his confederate's greasy mouth.

On freedom.

76 Years ago, I was at the Omaha zoo on a cold, damp, blustery day to buy my family's annual season pass. I decided to take a stroll through the Lied Jungle, a huge building with plants, trees, critters from all the various jungles around the world. Since it was such an ugly day, I practically had the Jungle to myself. I stopped at one of the overlooks, and casually placed my purse on the bench. Next thing I knew, a whole family of lion marmosets were digging for gold inside my purse. Before the zoo built the Lied Jungle, the marmosets had been in an enclosure. Inside the Jungle, though, they are allowed to run free. Watching those ferociously curious critters rummage through my purse was the high point of the day. And, yes, I made sure no one was left inside when I picked up my purse and began walking along the path again.

I routinely put a packet (or couple of tablespoons) in with our roasts. Italian packet, too.

Worth a try if you never have.

Rest of recipe: Meat, carrots, potatoes, onion, cream of mushroom soup, half cup of water or so just to get the party started. Some brown gravy mix if you've got it, because why not?

Put it on Saturday night, eat after church. Be sure to come in and out of the house a lot because the smell is a big part of the appeal.

I like to eat over rice or mashed potatoes even though there are potatoes in it.

A diner I went to in college had those and they were great. But they came out unbelievably hot. The hottest food I've ever experienced in my life. If you put one in your mouth first thing it would melt through your digestive system and start making its way down to the core of the earth. You had to wait 5-10 min just to start eating them.

And that's hard for me because if you put a plate of food in front of me, well, I go at it. It's not pretty. A short time later you have an empty plate. So I remember the wait. If you cut them in half and then dipped in ranch you cut off a few minutes of your wait.

Of course this all may just be talk. If the Republicans can threaten to get back into the majority, Louie may decide to keep his House seat.

Why in the hell would I want that?!

396 Ranch is a tool. Right tool for the right job.

Salad is bland. Hence ranch.

Buffalo wings. The contrast between the spiciness of the buffalo sauce and the creamy tang added by the ranch is quite good. It sets off both flavors. The sum is greater than the whole. Plus, if someone has gone a bit too hot on the buffalo sauce and you risk losing the good spicy flavor factor, the ranch cuts the sensation of heat.

Plus, I am OCD, unless I am trying to vainly eat taco bell in the car, I am not dripping shit anywhere.

408 I had a girlfriend in the .mil who was a cook, and she told me that they were not allowed to deviate from the official military recipes, they would get dinged for that. I'd asked her why they didn't do the sensible thing and add a lot of Milk when making mashed potatoes, for example.

The mess halls, people complained, but they were there every day and ate up every bit of it as I recall. After the 70s the military in general did try to focus on "quality of life" issues and try to retain their people. I think the Cooks did a pretty good job with what they had to work with, and all the other BS that ordinarily isn't part and parcel of cooking. And institutional cooking is different, it just is. Recipes don't scale for some reason, it's tricky.

The inflation numbers are just peachy. If you look at the breakdown of food prices, guess where the most increase is? The price inrease of good food -- meats, fats, real food, is through the roof.

The price increases on the "obesogenic" foods, processed carby shit is not too bad. So the response of those with constrained budgets will be to shift to more crap food. MOAR Diabeetus.

I think the eco-loons are probably happy about that. Meat and real food is bad for the planet.

521 Buffalo wings.

542 Probably too late for his entire contact list, though.

Lots of people are going to find themselves on secret watchlists thanks to that fucking raid, even if the Judges say they shouldn't have done it and can't use anything from it. (They'll just ignore it and do whatever they were going to anyway.)

With the five levels of contact from a person of interest, the FBI probably has FISA court permission to tap everyone who has ever even heard of O Keefe. And thats if they are obeying the 'rules'

Just checked Shadow Stats for the latest number. The pre-1980 inflation numbers would be 14.4% yoy.

We are '70s inflation levels, if we calculated inflation the same way as we did in the '70s.

547 NBC is calling Grossoutbuttenhiemer a "sole survivor" and that he survived an "active shooter" who "murdered" two men...of course NBC repeats these lies without questioning the source - a convicted felon with an illegal firearm in his possession - they don't even mention that, because that would mean that all the previous BS they've said before is a lie, too.

Instead, NBC just says "The defendant on trial for murdering two protestors and injuring another otherwise 'claims' self-defense.

NBC...the stupidest and most dishonest shitbag media outlet if they didn't have competition from ABC and CBS. How does a free republic survive with this scum as their major media outlets?

548 My best friend growing up went into the Air Force. After many years trying to get into fighters he realized his eyes were not good enough. He ended up flying transports (C-141's and later C-130's) in and out of Europe and the ME during the 80's and 90's.

As happenstance would have it he "auditioned" for whatever they call the pilots who fly the VC class aircraft for the White House... basically AirForce-2 and whatever is under that classification.

While training a newbie he called me on my cell (this was back in early 1990's... so rare... even more so from AF-2) while I was at work in WV. They were going to do some "touch and goes" at a municipal airport in a decked out 757.

Interesting day. Have receipts somewhere. (Photos)

550 I wonder if I were to plant some veggies now, here in AJ, would they be ready by Spring? Little or no risk of frost.

Yes. Cool weather crops will do well there, lettuce, cabbage and such. You can also put up poly-tunnels if you are concerned about frost. They also hold in moisture (and heat so be ready to vent them if it gets warm enough to cook your plants)

The main issue is if you have sandy soil, so find out what grows well there and what they suggest in keeping the soil fertile.

551 Who do I complain to about the Fitnus Fitbit ad? It extends out into the bodycopy of the web site so you cannot read what is underneath it. There is no visible way to close the ad (even after waiting) and you can't scroll copy out from under it. For three days now, I've had to skip reading blocks of various stories cause I can't view them.
