Round-Up of the End of Today's Testimony and Quick Hits

Screenshot (741).png

One of Rekieta's commentators says that it wasn't just us who checked out of the trial. According to someone present in the courtroom, the jurors did, too, and stopped taking notes and appeared to be dozing off, and became annoyed with Littlefinger's tedious, repetitive questions.

That is literally what I did.

She speculates that the defense failed to object as a choice, choosing to let the prosecutor fatigue the jury and annoy them.

Littlefinger wants to introduce an altered image from an iPhone video showing, supposedly, Kyle pointing the gun at someone. The judge says a prior expert testified that the process of magnification alters the image with artificial-intelligence guesswork, filling in pixels as it guesses where they should be. The judge said he would entertain expert testimony as to whether this would be admissible, but Littlefinger attempted to testify as an expert witness again and attempted to bull the judge over with his own uninformed opinion of what this magnification program did.

The judge was not having it from Littlefinger. He told Littlefinger he wasn't interested in hearing his opinions on the technology. When Littlefinger whined that this was "important" evidence and that it might be hard to secure an expert, the judge told him, in so many words, "Well you'd better get on that then, Sparky."

Yesterday, the judge in the Rittenhouse trial revealed he caught someone filming the jurors as they moved from the courthouse to the court bus.

Kenosha County Circuit Court Judge Bruce Schroeder revealed at the start of the Kyle Rittenhouse trial that someone had filmed the jury at their bus pickup on Tuesday morning. He assured the jurors the video was deleted and more steps will be taken to protect them.

"At pickup, there was someone there and video recording the jury, which officers approached the person and required [them]...to delete the video and return the phone to him. I've instructed that if it happens again, they are to take the phone and bring it here," Schroeder said.

"Something like that should not have occurred, I’m frankly, quite surprised it did," he added.

The revelation comes shortly after Cortez Rice, who says he is George Floyd's nephew, claimed in a livestream he knew people were taking photos of the Rittenhouse jury while being in the courtroom. Rice has since deleted the video but copies were made and posted to social media.

UK primary school -- elementary school -- asks boys to wear skirts to promote equality.

A primary school has asked boys as well as girls as young as three to go in today wearing skirts – to ‘promote equality’.

But the request from Castleview Primary in Edinburgh has been criticised by some parents.

It follows a similar move in Spain where teachers and children have worn skirts to show solidarity with a boy who was expelled for wearing one last year.

November 4 is now 'wear a skirt to school day' in Spain.

An email to parents from Castleview said it wanted children to be 'comfortable' taking part and that trousers and leggings could be worn under the skirts if needed.

They want 6-9 year old boys to be "comfortable" with cross-dressing.

And that's not all.

Some outfit is now offering pole dancing classes... for children.

I hope even the Suburban Wine Aunts are beginning to understand the agenda now.

But the Tweets are still nice, I trust?

Biden's Secretary of Energy, fresh off giggling about the US no longer pumping oil, now confirms that yes, you will be paying more for heating oil this winter.

And Britons outraged about the police and prosecutors doing *nothing* about the so-called "grooming gangs" had better start to realize that there's a reason they did nothing about it, and that reason is not entirely comprised of "we don't want to risk offending Muslim immigrants who blow us up when we complain."

We'd best learn that, too.

Ummm, there is software that can recover deleted data. Digital forensics uses it. Hell, you can use it, I do.

I mean, there's deleted and there's deleted. Unless it was on volatile media, "deleting" a files just frees up for overwriting the location (?) on a storage medium where it still is until or unless it is overwritten by subsequent writes. Right?

I'm assuming it would work if the video was saved directly to the phone or to a micro sd card.

They see this as without ties to dirty things like nationalism, but it's, of course, just a different flavor of nationalism: the nationalism of the stateless rich.

Same reason you get the speech about why it's so important to finish the entire RX of antibiotics even after you feel better.

We should be vaccinating the at-risk population, and the rest of us should be saying "come at me, bruh!"

Only a tiny amount of hearty bacteria will survive the disinfecting process, so over time you end up with only super strong bacteria resistant to disinfection.

This is how antibiotic resistant disease happens.

If there is room next to me (such as a closed till), I will slide over and sort my money and get squared away while whoever was behind me in the queue moves up and takes care of business. If there is no room and there is someone behind me waiting, that crap gets crammed into my wallet willy-nilly and I'll deal with it later. Three options for this:
1. Design it right. Doors open outward from the bathroom and do not latch. Use your shoulder or elbow.
2. Have a wastebasket next to the door. You can use a paper towel if desired.
3. Use a footplate pull. These are small cleats screwed into the bottom outside corner of the door. This allows you to use your foot to open doors. These are awesome in a lot of cases, because you can then pull doors open even if your hands are full (likely doesn't apply to a bathroom)

In our office building they are push to open going in so you can open the door using your arm. Going out the paper towel dispenser and garbage can are adjacent to the door so you grasp the handle with a paper towel and then discard it. Don't know if that was planned or happenstance, but it works great.

Yup. I think the reason is two-fold:
1. They don't use cash themselves, and so aren't attuned to order of operations for cash users.
2. The till gives the change and they don't count change back. When you count change back properly, the coinage comes first because that gets you to the next whole dollar, then the bills, then the receipt if applicable. This also orders things properly for cash handling as a side effect, because the coinage isn't in the way.

Well I think this is a huge pivot point. Communists have taken over so much that literally random armed dudes on the street keeping the peace are a norm. Rittenhouse was just the first to have to actually use his weapon. The McClosky's plead out. A number of other "armed and present" folks whom were screamed at by antifa but had no cause to use their weapons were never charged. This establishes the legality of just "being there armed" which is the new normal forced on us by the Violent Riot-No Law Enforcement Action norms. It's now the only way for neighborhoods targeted by Antifa Communists to maintain any sort of security.

287 Watching the video the prosecutor is trying that shows Rittenhouse retreating from Rosenbaum. The implied assertion is Rosenbaum raised his hands, as a signal of surrender when he became visible in the middle of the parking lot. The next big assertion is the reason Rosenbaum reached for the gun is because he was trying to push it away because he was in fear of his life. What a pant load plus the prosecutor is now reading, conveniently, Rosenbaum's mind. How special. The plain fact is Kyle had been threated with death by Rosenbaum and was in full retreat from Rosebaum and only fired when Rosebaum lunged at him. My take is Rosenbaum by his action displayed intent to do great bodily harm to Rittenhouse. By the prosecutor's standard you can only defend yourself after you are dead. Please stop, just stop.

292 It's almost Christmas time -- time for the annual "Christmas" metaphor sweepstakes, where people and companies tie themselves in knots trying to wish others (truly or for brand awareness points) "Merry Christmas" without saying Merry Christmas. It's "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings" or any other increasingly secular and generic watering down of any tangential allusion to Christ. We're at the point where pine trees and cartoon images of Santa are deemed "too religious."
I work in marketing and have been punished with the Holiday Card for the past five years, so I've become acutely aware of the slide.

The reason I bring this up is that Kamala joined her Indian student gathering with "Happy Diwali!" with no worries about "establishment clause" confrontations. Likewise, "Happy Ramadan" is a perfectly fine salutation for Obama to announce from the Oval Office. Only "Merry Christmas" is disallowed as a breach of church/State separation, even though there is a direct line to our Founding and Judeo-Christian principles. With the stupidity of the current age, we may be past a point where people can even be educated to see the problem.

316 I mean, there's deleted and there's deleted. Unless it was on volatile media, "deleting" a files just frees up for overwriting the location (?) on a storage medium where it still is until or unless it is overwritten by subsequent writes. Right?

I just took a quick video on my iPhone. Deleted it. It asked for a confirmation, do you really want to delete it? I confirmed, and it said “deleted”.

I then went into the “recently deleted” folder and, unsurprisingly, there it was.

It’s possible that whoever asked them to delete is aware of this behavior. But it would also be trivially easy on the iPhone to write a script that automatically copies video to a safe storage location both on the phone and in the cloud. I assume this is true for other platforms.

Everyone from that distance will be able to see that aromatic mix of apple, walnut, and maple tree white smoke emanating from my chimney and know my political persuasion. Someone who works.

Is that a political party yet? I know the opposite is.

319 That Tim Hortons video is from March 24, 2020. We weren't even a week into this shitshow. The Karen-bots had yet to be unleashed. People still had a sense of humor about things. Even alcohol spray guy seems happy. And there were no mask mandates yet.

Currently they're talking about Rosenbaum, the first one. He was standing for that, as Rosenbaum chased him and threatened to jump him from behind.

324 Littlefinger's argument is that if a person approaches you with an open container, tells you it is filled with acid and he is going to throw the acid in your face, if you have no reasonable way to escape the encounter, you must stand in-place and let acid be thrown in your face before you can touch or shoot the threatening person.

Yeah, NO. Not in Texas, at least.
