"THIS IS NOT THE DRUG YOU'RE LOOKING FOR. MOVE ALONG."

Thanks to commenter Moron Robbie for pointing me to this document from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services concerning the "off-label" prescribing of medications (meaning, I think, prescribing meds for what they're not normally prescribed for) in particular, prescribing ivermectin for treatment of Covid-19.

Why are they so concerned with this? Because first the document says:

While we recognize that off-label prescribing is a common practice...

OK, so it's not like prescribing ivermectin for Covid-19 is some new thing that's completely unprecedented, right? It sounds like something that, in any other circumstances, wouldn't cause anyone to even raise an eyebrow over.

But, for some reason, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is really, really concerned with the off-label use of Ivermectrin. Why?

The FDA has not authorized or approved ivermectin for preventing or treating COVID-19 in humans or animals.

Current data are inconclusive whether ivermectin is effective against prevention or treatment of COVID-19. Clinical trials are in progress to determine what clinical benefit, if any, ivermectin may offer in treating COVID-19.

To which I say, so what? And we have to ask the question: are we in a pandemic, or not? Because we damn near shut down the entire country and permanently clos thousands of small businesses because of this virus and now suddenly we have to wait years to get approval to use a potentially life-saving drug? Really?

Doc: You're dying.

Patient: Can I try this off label use medicine?

Doc: No, because it might kill you.

Patient: But it's been used safely for decades.

Doc: Sorry, you have no right to try things that might keep you alive if I say otherwise.
(h/t Physics Geek)

Taking large doses of ivermectin, even if prescribed, can be dangerous.

Well, duh. Taking large doses of pretty much any drug can be dangerous. If I swallow an entire bottle of Tylenol, it might destroy my liver. Why is the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services all of a sudden concerned about this particular drug?

Never use medications intended for animals on yourself or other people. Animal ivermectin products are very different from those approved for humans. Use of animal ivermectin for the prevention or treatment of COVID-19 in humans is dangerous.

So have you brainiacs at the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services ever asked yourselves why this should be a problem? Why are people suddenly showing up at farm supply stores and buying up all of the available ivermectin? Why are people passing around dosing charts for the ivermectin paste, and how to use it safely? Why are people driving down to Mexico and buying it over-the-counter and bringing it back to sell or give to their friends and family? See, right now, due to your ham-handed attempts at suppression, cancelling, and censorship, there's a quite an ivermectin black market that has developed. And you numbskulls helped to create it. See, anytime there's a black market, it means that there's a problem with the actual market.

Current data are inconclusive whether ivermectin is effective against prevention or treatment of COVID-19. Clinical trials are in progress to determine what clinical benefit, if any, ivermectin may offer in treating COVID-19.

Again, this goes back to my question, are we in a pandemic or not? It we're in a pandemic, the urgency of the moment suggests we should do a little "outside the box" thinking here and go beyond what the prissy CDC thinks is kosher. If a doctor is treating sick patients, the last thing he wants to do is wait for an OK from a government bureaucrat.

You're telling us to wait on the CDC, however long that takes? That means the pandemic isn't as serious as you claim it is, what with people dying because they have to wait until their lips turn blue before the hospitals will treat them and all. No out-patient treatment? Shut up, peasant.

The point is, we don't know what works. So it's ridiculous to restrict a doctor's right to prescribe a medication off-label and patient's right to try.

COVID-19 vaccination is approved by FDA and is the safest and most effective way to prevent getting sick and protect against severe disease and death from SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, including the Delta variant.

I'll tell you this: I think people are getting fed up with this "getting a vaccine is the only acceptable preventative option for Covid-19, so get jabbed and shut up" line. Especially when there's a lot of anecdotal evidence that some treatment protocols are effective, like HCQ and IVM. But doctors won't prescribe it, and when you find one that will, the pharmacy won't dispense it. That's when you know something weird is going on.

Also, and I'm going to sound like a Bernie bro here, but I think the main reason they're discouraging HCQ and IVM is because they're relatively inexpensive and available in generic form. I predict that the only treatment options the government will approve are the antivirals currently in clinical trials. Because patentable. I think Merck and Pfizer each have one in the works It seems that the number one priority of the government right now as far as Covid is concerned is not public health, but the profits of Big Pharma. Shut up, Bernie. Yes, I know you found a nut, but you're still a blind squirrel. Dumb, too.

Which reminds me, anyone else remember when Big Pharma testified in Congress that the danger of addiction to oxycontin would be minimal? Good times, good times.

One last thing, Moron Robbie also linked to a PowerPoint presentation of this study, Effectiveness of mRNA Vaccines Against the Delta Variant Among 5.6M Medicate Patients 65 Years and Older, and it's refreshing to see see some actual science.

Wednesday Who Dis: The story of Jan Michael Vincent is a sad one. Years of out-of-control boozing, plus a vehicle accident, took their toll on his body and mind. He ended up crazy and legless and looking sort of like a deranged hippie before he finally died. (h/t TrivialPursuer, although Vincent wasn't "legless", he had just lost one of his legs below the knee due to some arterial disease. He was pretty messed up, though.) I'm actually surprised he lived as long as he did -- 74 years. He starred with model-turned-actress Kim Basinger in the 1981 drama Hard Country.

19 Glynis was a lovely creature. Last year I watched No Highway in the Sky, a British drama/suspenser with Jimmy Stewart, Glynis, and Marlene Dietrich. Glynis plays a member of that vanished tribe, an attractive and helpful flight attendant. She had her own sitcom briefly in about 1964, I think, called Glynis.

We most of us know Mitchell from High Chaparral, I guess. Was Glynis ever a guest star on that?

21 It's even worse than that. They won't accept double blind studies from other countries that show the effectiveness of ivermectin. They will accept double blind studies from other countries if they show the effectiveness of the vaccines. When they test ivermectin in this country, they give it to people on ventilators (which they are still doing, two years after we found out that's the worst thing you can do.)

Want people to be less suspicious? Start treating this like you would normally treat a pandemic. Start listening to doctors that are trying to save lives, not the ones just interested in a check from big Pharma

Dr Kory talks about how use of ivermectin for Wuflu was banned and he goes through all the steps taken against it, very logically. Then he says the only conclusion he can draw is that there is a conspiracy against it. It's not the conclusion he wants. He's a doctor and a Democrat. But that's where the logic takes him.

Definitely seems that way. However, they seem intent upon pushing the vaccine paradigm onto us, the vaccine passports needed to gain access to normal life and toe qualify for your "rights." That is the gateway to so much of the Great Rest, including digital ID and social credit system.

I am sure it's a financial boondoggle, too, but the insistence of vaccine passports leads me to believe it's about more than this round of vaccines, it's about forcing a bigger shift in how we view the government's and corporations' gatekeeper role in our personal choices, etc.. They will keep finding reasons to establish prerequisites to accessing everyday life.

The Indian government and WHO handed out $2 boxes of meds (Vit D, zinc, ivermectin and doxycycline, which is an antibiotic) in Uttar Pradesh, India's most populous state, and knocked out almost every case of covid there, of every variety, in a matter of just a few weeks.

90 N=1
I've been suffering (varying levels of suffering) from unexplained shortness of breath and joint pain since Jan/Feb 2020.
As you all remember, I was undergoing radiation and hormone treatments for Prostate Cancer starting around that time frame.
Concurrent with the treatments, I caught a "bug" that knocked me on my ass for 48-72 hours (loss of taste, smell, shortness of breath, dizzy, fever).
I developed severe shortness of breath, a severe arthritic condition on my left knee shortly thereafter, and it has not resolved.
2 weeks ago, I put myself on the FLCCC Long COVID treatment regimen. My shortness of breath is improved, and the incidence of joint pain is markedly improved. My training logs show the positive results.
Is it a placebo effect...perhaps. I'm more inclined to believe that the high dose Ivermectin protocol, couple with the supplements have solved the puzzle that no one at the Cancer Center or my PCP could adequately address.

92 Some scientists who have studied the drug warn, however, that the method it uses to kill the virus that causes Covid-19 carries potential dangers that could limit the drug's usefulness.

Molnupiravir works by incorporating itself into the genetic material of the virus, and then causing a huge number of mutations as the virus replicates, effectively killing it. In some lab tests, the drug has also shown the ability to integrate into the genetic material of mammalian cells, causing mutations as those cells replicate.

If that were to happen in the cells of a patient being treated with molnupiravir, it could theoretically lead to cancer or birth defects.

Son of Afghanistan's Former Defense Minister Buys $20.9 Million Beverly Hills Mansion
He already owns a $5.2 million Miami Beach condo at the prestigious St. Regis Bal Harbour resort, but Daoud Wardak apparently also wants a West Coast outpost. To that end, he's heading for Beverly Hills -- records reveal the semi-mysterious businessman, who is a son of former Afghan Minister of Defense Abdul Rahim Wardak, has bought a $20.9 million mansion on a prime Trousdale Estates street.

Built all-new this year and designed by local architecture firm Woods + Dangaran, the nearly 9,000-square-foot house was described in an off-market listing as a fusion of "modern meets midcentury." The 0.58-acre property last sold in 2016 for $9.5 million. . .

If you've been diagnosed with a life-threatening disease or condition, you can get your doctor to approve you for a clinical trial of that medication. The catch, of course, is that the FDA has to have an existing clinical trial using IVM or the FLCCC protocol. The other is that the investigational drug has not been approved or licensed by the FDA for any use.

This is a pretty convenient way for the FDA to shut the FLCCC protocol out as an option for desperate patients.

You have to fight the battle to get the hospital to let you use the unapproved treatments in court, and a lot of times the hospital can drag out the court case long enough until, oopsie, yer dead. Or sometimes the patient will prevail and hospital will say "how many divisions does the court have?" and still refuse the treatment.

A coal powered plant near me (and many others) got shuttered ... nat gas took up some slack, even that is not acceptable to fake greenies, since carbon is not really the issue, the issue is shutting down America and the West.

158 The catch, of course, is that the FDA has to have an existing clinical trial using IVM or the FLCCC protocol. The other is that the investigational drug has not been approved or licensed by the FDA for any use.

This is a pretty convenient way for the FDA to shut the FLCCC protocol out as an option for desperate patients.

The hospitals have been given treatment protocols by the NIH as to how to treat Covid19. Low oxygen first, and if that doesn't help....INTUBATE!!
Which ends up being kind of a death sentence.

My son got really sick a few weeks ago with what we thought was Covid19. His wife and her sister had previously had it (a few weeks before), and he became too ill to work, and came home. I gave him a dose of Ivermectin (Plus Vit C and D and Zinc) on Friday, another on Sunday. By Sunday he was feeling a lot better, and went back to work on Monday (and he was really sick on Friday).
So yeah, Ivermectin sure doesn't work.
Last December, a Doctor representing a team of physicians presented over 50 clinical studies showing Ivermectin works to the US Senate, and begging for FDA approval. Well, of course not.

192 note about Merck/Pfizer-mectin drug activity:

RNA replication does not occur in humans/animals (most organisms, actually). It is only really critical in RNA virus life-cycle * (yes, as with all things there are limited exceptions).

The normal progression is:
DNA -(transcription)-> RNA -(translation)-> Amino Acid -(folding/modification)-> Protein

DNA and RNA polymerases (the enzyme that make/copy the DNA/RNA molecules) function a bit differently.

So if fake-ermectin specifically blocks RNA replication (not transcription), it should be safe for use in humans/animals/most things.

If UH does not do the same thing, UH is going to get a lot of new em/ees.

This is an op. There is zero medical reason to force vax the people that have been working the last 18 mos and most likely already have natural immunity. Forcing "booster" shots, which are the same thing that they already got which no longer works is antiscientific. Which is why the FDA advisory panel wouldn't recommend it.

211 Somebody, please square this circle.

If you're an attorney, would you advise your client to give up their rights to sue over incurring an adverse outcome?

If you answer no, why would you "tell" your client to get the JAB?

***

Attorneys don't generally advise clients to give up rights for no reason. In the case of the vaccines, people are being forced by the government to give up their rights in order to keep their jobs, attend school, go to restaurants, etc.

All of the vaccine manufacturers have been given immunity from liability from the federal government for any adverse effects, including death, the vaccines may cause.

People can refuse the vaccines, but many people can't afford to lose their jobs. So they are forced to decide which is more important to them. It sucks, but it's not attorneys who are putting people in this position. It's the federal government and in some cases, it's also state and local governments doing it, with these bullshit vaccine mandates.

216 Also, and I'm going to sound like a Bernie bro here, but I think the main reason they're discouraging HCQ and IVM is because they're relatively inexpensive and available in generic form.

---

Remember when Trump was pushing HCQ because he owned like $200 worth of stock in some French company that manufactured it?

But yeah, the whole anti-HCQ and now anti-Ivermectin stuff is just crazy. I can't tell you how many lefties I've talked to who believe - no, believe isn't even the right word, they just know, with absolute 100% certainty, because it's just "common knowledge" that "everyone knows" - that HCQ and Ivermectin are horrifyingly dangerous experimental drugs that kill half the people who take them.

I think the Rs are doing it this way because mandates from the executive branch on what nongovernment people have to have shot into their bodies are ridiculous to start with. So they completely avoid that. Like the Rs blocking regulations on which rail lines the left can use to haul us to the furnaces. They're fighting 1960's democrats.

My experience from working w/the SS regarding counterfeit equipment fraud affecting my employer: they did not care until we demonstrated what was in it for them (i.e. oh look at the records you can access when investigating this!), and when we identified that the person doing it was using it to support major cartel drug network. Then they helped and helped and helped (along w/DEA and local PD task force) until we realized they were dragging the investigation for many months because the records were so helpful, and an arrest would end them.

276 I think the other part of not looking at HCQ and IVM is so many people staked their reputation on them not working. If suddenly they said "oops" at the very least the ego maniacs would see their reps tarnished for a couple generations- and your doctor can't proclaim like they are god about things outside their field, like guns are discouraged, mkay.

There would also be wolves at the door, be they lawyers with lawsuits from people who suffered massively from not being treated or their survivors...or people who've been hurt by the medical field going all in on "Orangemanbad, so don't prescribe cause this is the chance to get him out" and are now at the door to express themselves with torches and pitchforks instead of lawsuits.

At some point you realize the tiger hasn't been satiated, and you need to cling harder to its back as it rampages and the idea of getting off becomes impossible.

I haven't had to use him yet but I found him on the FLCCC website. According to his FAQs it looks like $115 per "visit", with each instance being $115. It does look like he writes the RXs for three months, though.

Yes, the "You Have to Do This It's the LAW!!!" nonsense has subsided here. Earlier this year I had battles with my grocery and with a stupid manager at an Advanced Auto Parts. I stood my ground and complained to their supervisors. The security guards at the grocery vanished the next week -- coincidence? -- and the regional manager for AAP called to apologize and to say he was putting the store's employees through a thorough retraining. Heh, heh, heh.

Haven't had any trouble the last few months.

I haven't looked in several weeks, but amazon used to carry the stuff, several brands/flavors. I'd assume they've pulled it by now. Almost every single review pointed toward human use, some pretty funny. As a prophylactic I'd consider using that stuff first, and save the actual human med for if you actually get the chinese crud.

306 I think the main reason they're discouraging HCQ and IVM is because they're relatively inexpensive and available in generic form.

I represented pharma companies in products litigation for a decade. Prescription drugs do a lot of good overall. But anyone who thinks profits are not the bottom-line for pharma companies is out of their gourd. They actively fight drugs going generic, often on spurious grounds. They have well-honed strategies for doing so.

308 276 I think the other part of not looking at HCQ and IVM is so many people staked their reputation on them not working.

If there are safe effective treatments and they've known about them, and they suppressed that information, their reputations is the least thing they should be worried about. India is contemplating murder charges against ivermectin deniers

311 Not that the attorney is making the demand, just that the attorney is "as a friend" saying get the JAB.

Why would he counsel giving up such an important right.

As a matter of conscience, how can one make this case from a legal standpoint.
______________

I can't comment specifically on why any particular attorney might counsel it, because it depends on the facts of the situation the person is in. But generally speaking, attorneys have to deal with the facts as they exist in the real world, not as we think they should be, or wish they were.

In a just world, we should not have these mandates from governments/corporations, forcing people to get the experimental vaccines in order to keep their jobs, and yet we do have them. An attorney who is consulted could advise somebody to sue to challenge the mandate, but realistically, such a lawsuit takes a lot of time and money, and most people simply can't afford it. Also, the chances of succeeding if you do sue are not that good. We have seen that even SCOTUS is willing to ignore the constitution when the government claims that there is a public health emergency.

312 I dont think a religious exemption needs to say anything more than "due to my religious beliefs I am exempt". Don't play their game if you don't have to.

Of course if you can walk away from a job that is mandating a vaccine, even better. Moreso if you can walk off with a group.

400 health care workers walked off their jobs at Henry Ford health center yesterday due to mandate.

This is going nationwide. Any system that does this will be in crisis mode. No elective surgeries no screening. It will be effectively a lock down of the health care system.

Henry Ford has something like a 92% vaccination rate. Well above the level for herd immunity. There is simply no reason for this mandate other than to make an example of those who will not vax.

Y'know, an analogy occurred to me the other day. I, too,
remember, early in the US outbreak, that Fauci advised people who were starting to develop symptoms to wait until they went critical, then go to a hospital so they could be put on a vent.

That's pretty much like telling a guy who just broke his leg to go home, prop it up, and see what happens. If it goes gangrenous, get to the hospital so they can amputate.
