The Stupid Party Realizes the Chamber of Commerce Is In a Political Alliance With the Left-Wing -- Five Years After It Was Obvious to Everyone Else

Jake Sherman

@JakeSherman

NEWS in @PunchbowlNews this AM: House GOP leadership has booted the @USChamber from its strategy calls on reconciliation.

This is a major statement, and represents a break up between the Chamber and House Rs.

@MZHemingway

And only five years after such a move would have been obvious and only a year after the Chamber of Commerce openly admitted they were electorally allied with Democrats. Nothing gets past these guys!

Can't wait to hear what the leading lights of the conservative firmament, such as Dr. Guy P. Benson, Ph.D., LL.M., Matt K. Lewis, Jonathan V. Last and Kevin D. Williamson have to say about this.

Yes, it should have happened 5 (no, 10!) years ago, but it's significant that it's happening at all.

Trump came up with the crazy idea that if almost all GOP voters were against open borders, supporting the border wall would make him President. Operation Warp Speed killed my love for Trump. But if the GOP weren't the Chamber's bitches, none of this would have happened.

87 There's a framework emerging of a corporatist/authoritarian dystopia that's of course vile and repugnant, but which isn't captured well by terms now in use.

It's not fascism (wherein, historically, the private sector actors were far, far less enthusiastic and even self-starting in degrading society and creating a statist nightmare). Of course it's not Marxism, but then absolutely nothing is on the planet today (though of course the term has lost all meaning as idiot authoritarian freaks "embrace" some terminology and pretend to embrace the actual nutbar ideology - which they don't understand - and "conservatives" use the label as an epithet for anything statist).

"Corporatist" is too dry, and also doesn't capture the dynamic.

I fear it's just the synthesis of a degraded civic culture (the populace, overall) and the oligopoly/monopoly-seeking "natural" behavior of economic actors. The alien, totalitarian mindset of both dumb political leftists and smart but un-American "tech" types is a lethal combo in a society with no press and dumbed down populace.

The two big reasons that the GOPe was ball-sucking the CoC for decades was straight-up graft, and campaign funds so they could keep their phony-baloney jobs. Seems that they finally came to the conclusion that CoC campaign money wasn't giving them enough of an electoral boost to offset the base's disgust at the policies the CoC was buying from the GOP.

Incidentally, I'm dying to start calling someone CoCsuckers, but who would be the appropriate target for the epithet? Corrupt GOPe pols, or the CoC contributors themselves?

I fear it's just the synthesis of a degraded civic culture (the populace, overall) and the oligopoly/monopoly-seeking "natural" behavior of economic actors. The alien, totalitarian mindset of both dumb political leftists and smart but un-American "tech" types is a lethal combo in a society with no press and dumbed down populace.

After their first bailout back in the 80s, Chrysler bought American Motors (and likely ended up saving the company by doing so). After the buyout, AMC engineers started making serious inroads at Chrysler and Chrysler executives were enabling it.

This really pissed off the Chrysler engineers because, as they often pointed out, it was absurd to involve AMC engineering so much since "Chrysler is the Engineering Company!"

Except that it made perfect sense, because Chrysler engineering was shit and AMC's wasn't. Chrysler had been coasting for decades and resented being subordinated to so many AMC engineers and processes.

The GOP is Chrysler. They're coasting on an unearned and unmaintained reputation and are being coddled by their own side.

188 JoeMannix, the macro framework is the downside (enormous) of a two-party system. The electorate is trapped, especially as one of the two degrades/goes off the rails (in this case, the Dems).

"What, are you going to vote for THOSE guys????!!!!"

A two-party system has many virtues, in theory, some of them real in practice (like tending to mainstream and blend diverse political streams, which tends towards stability over time).

But America has found the "sour spot" of this kind of system. One malignant party, and one empty status quo party. The latter is the only choice, right? Well, yes, and good luck with what that leads to (today's America).

Yeah. They were never quite big enough and the Big Three were brutal and very much favored by the government types. But AMC had some serious talent, and Chrysler hit the big time when they picked up AMC. Not only the Jeep brand - and a mostly-complete Grand Cherokee - but a ton of engineering and executive talent.

Packard was a special case. Someone needed to pump out Merlin engines and Packard was deemed (probably rightly) to be the only American firm that was up to the task. So Packard built engines for the whole war.

The other auto companies build other things, like airplanes and tanks and trucks and jeeps. Vehicles, generally. Postwar reconversion was much much easier for the other manufacturers than it was for Packard, who had a massive engine plant and titanic reconversion task to get back to vehicles. It took too long and cost too much and they ultimately died off. They brought new models to market years after the rest of the industry.

Corporatism was already in "full swing", with FDR and the New Deal (in other more modern words, Build Back Better). Of course they favored the big corporations that were going to be the backbone of "The Arsenal of Freedom"!
WWII did put a big "capper" on some small businesses, as they could not get the capital to re-tool and modernize, especially after they had tooled up to industrialize for the War (WWII).
Waco was a small airplane company that built trainers, etc for the Army Air Corp. They existed before the War, and made small planes, biplanes, etc. They had plans to re-tool and make some newer commercial small planes after the War, and then went bankrupt after all the War purchasing stopped.

I would say being followed into the bathroom, for them. Dad is a damn artist with a .25 Beretta and he's getting more belligerent every day. For cryin' out loud - even his ass voted Trump twice. Mom don't go anywhere without her purse, a 9mm, a pack of Winstons, and a plan to get a margarita.

Honestly - just don't follow either of 'em into the pisser. It's not my problem if you do. Not. On. Me.

351 This is exactly why there is no political middle ground any more and no hope of a middle ground in the foreseeable future. The UniParty, not happy with following Senator Sinema in the a restroom where they video taped her, later went to her home to harass her.

These mobs have been erasing all civil boundaries. I find it quite conceivable for the UniParty mobs to start using physical persuasion against people like Senator Sinema.

352 What's worse - being assaulted, raped, and/or murdered by an illegal alien previously imprisoned felon present in the US solely because of "sanctuary" lawlessness - or having your grandparents (here illegally, presumably) deported?

What's worse - having your line of work becoming uneconomic, after being a solid basis for a family income, thus ruining your life, because of immigration/border lawlessness - or having your grandparents (here illegally, presumably) deported?

What's worse - having your public school system taken the last step over the falls of failure and your kids' educational situation grossly degraded, because of immigration/border lawlessness and resulting language, standards, environment, and funding problems - or having your grandparents (here illegally, presumably) deported?

These aren't trick questions.

Trump revealed that there were two parties within the GOP: populist deplorables and chamber of commerce republicans, the latter of whom being mostly aligned with the left on issues touching personal liberty and immigration, and also being the largest source of GOP funding, with the deplorable wing being truly the part of the poor.

I didn't not expect any formal breakup and am surprised and encouraged.

I think at the very top end all countries produce great cars. But when it comes to your ordinary commuter box, it's Japan or, maybe Germany, with everyone else far behind.

From what I'm seeing - most believe the whistleblower is a lefty plant. After all, it appears she wants them to crack down even more on censorship. She's blaming FB on the 1/6 "insurrection". They're inventing their Kabuki so the administration can run with the narrative.

Numero dos, the illegal was complaining that there is no path to citizenship. Try explaining to the two for Kenyans and one for Britain that I know.

The P-39 centrally-mounted engine also pushed the center of gravity to the rear, making it prone to vicious spins once cannon ammunition was expended from the nose. ... But Royal Air Force pilots had fought many high-altitude battles with the Luftwaffe, and hated the Airacobra.

IIRC, Brewster also licence-built another company's plane during the war - Corsairs, I think. The planes were poorly built in comparison with those from other manufacturers, and I don't think any of them were actually used.
