49 The symbolism in the painting is significant.

The image of the dog invokes the viewer to think of dogs that were often used in war.

The musket symbolizes the gunfire often associated with war.

The door, blown from a hinge, seems to signify that the dog and musket were at the scene of a battle, battles which are often associated with war.

The artist seems to be saying "F*ck you. War."

Both scenes got me. The dog was the local mailman's long-time pet, if I recall right. If King had made it just a junkyard cur, that would not have been as horrifying.

That was and is his true talent: making us know, and sometimes hate, his characters. The people in that village in Salem's Lot were fully realized. When the vampire horror began, it was not remote to us, but right there in front of us.

This is true. It's also known to anyone who's had a dog that they provide a type of uncomplicated, unconditional love and loyalty that cannot me matched in a human relationship (for obvious reasons). Seeing a dog in distress on screen taps into that.

However, after having a child I cannot bear to watch anything in which a child is killed. Sadly, Holllywood loves to kill of a child at the beginning of a movie (on screen or as back story), as a shortcut to an emotional state for the lead character(s). Apparently it doesn't affect them the same way it does most parents (yeah, we won;t go there. . .).

Oh hell no I won't eat them. Nasty little buggers. Cat food does work when I trap them, though. Shining them with a dog a night is the most legal fun you can have. If you haven't gone with a group of 'coon hunters at night, look up a local group and try it. As a kid, we'd do it without a license. Learned to carry two lanterns. We'd hang the lit on one a branch and set it to waving around when we spotted another light (usually a game warden) and high-tail it out of the general area before lighting the second one up. The answer is no. At best, it sort of gums of the works a bit not to have an actual AG, but mainly since the DOJ (and all other Federal agencies) are already fully staffed with Dems, they don't actually need Dem leadership to tell them to do things for Dems. They can read the WaPo (or follow it on twitter) all by themselves.

I just informed the host of the fact that I will not be able to attend due to the current rules.
His response was that I should go get the shot right away. (SMFH)

I stated plainly that I've already had the WuFlu and have no need of a JAB, that this is coercion and antithetical to the American Ideal, and that I'll take no medicine/drug/JAB that robs of my right to sue should I suffer harm.

His response to these stated facts was that he was so sorry that I was going to miss out on so many fun PUBLIC ACTIVITIES.

The Morris and Essex Kennel Club show was established by Mrs. Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge and held at her private estate in New Jersey from 1927 to 1959.

In 2000, the show was re-established and held every five years. The 2020 show was deferred to this year by COVID. Next to Westminster, it's one of the largest and most prestigious shows in the country. Also one of the fanciest, with all the women wearing dresses and hats.

We're delighted Lila prevailed today. We hadn't expected it as she's a dark dog and the show is held in the Land of White Borzoi.

Oh and it's looking like the beginning of the outbreak may go all the way back to early 2019 or late 2018 as the Chinese government were beginning to order massive amounts of PCR tests and components in May of 2019.

So if they are ordering crap in May then either they were getting ready or reacting to something that was happening in the population.

Woodchippers, feet first, a cadre of people, some assembly required.

288 Was just reading an interesting article over at Insty's, by some "transgender" docs who perform "transition" surgery. They say that they don't approve of giving young kids puberty blockers, and that it's not true that they are "completely reversible" as many docs (and the whole "trans" industry) insist. They also say that kids who go on the puberty blockers don't develop normal size-genitals, which makes the "transition" surgery much more difficult for them later. Also, kids who have the "transition" surgery before they've ever experienced an orgasm are likely to never be able to experience one.

Also interesting was the report that Jazz Jennings, the kid featured in the reality show about "transitioning" has now taken a year off from school to deal with depression. Also, Jazz has been dealing with an eating disorder that caused Jazz to gain over 100 pounds in a 2-year period. This all happened AFTER the transition surgery that was supposed to cure Jazz' gender dysphoria. I wonder if anybody will do a "reality" show about the reality of Jazz' continuing mental health problems, post-transition? Actually, I don't wonder, because we all know they won't. And we know why.

Cabin is miles from the nearest county-maintained (i.e. plowed) roads. She was not well-prepared in terms of contingencies, but managed to last out the winter. When he asked her what had prompted her to undertake that, she told him that she had watched, and really liked "The Shining"

So you have something as shy and scarce as a bobcat regularly prowling close to the beach, amidst suburban sprawl. Critters are pretty amazing. Meaning nature is pretty amazing. A wonder increasingly lost on "educated" societies, that are being dumbed down to think man actually has much influence on things.

This fits a pathetic pattern. After all, scrutinizing Pence's revisionist history about 1/6 would require talking honestly about the riot, and that rarely ever happens on Fox. Riot denialism is practically required in GOP media.

Thee were some hints in earlier stories, but he played fair and had *the characters* espouse the things he didn't like -- not always the bad guys, either. The father in Firestarter, an otherwise heroic fellow, is shown as a rather typical college hippie as a young man, astonished in '68 that Nixon could ever get elected.

330 When it comes to conflicts of interest, Attorney General Merrick Garland appears to have a huge one.

Merrick's daughter, Rebecca Garland, is married to the co-founder of an education resource company that pushes critical race theory - which angry parents across the country are protesting. Taking matters into his own hands, AG Garland tapped the FBI on Monday to huddle with local leaders to address a "disturbing spike in harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence" against teachers and school board members.
