The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

I like Jamie Dimon. I think he is an excellent bank CEO* who has probably been a net positive for the economy.

But his bank is rushing headlong into "Woke" insanity, and is busily mandating the Biden junta's vaccine mandates. And worst of all, he is spectacularly tone-deaf when it comes to his political comments.

Here he takes a shot at President Trump while cloaking himself in the protective mantle of family...in this case one of his daughters AND MLK! That's ballsy.

JPM CEO cites MLK to explain advising Trump to daughter

“We believe in human rights. We believe in free enterprise. We believe in the capitalist system. That’s all counter to China,” he said, when asked about China’s treatment of its Uyghurs population being called genocide by the US, and why he hasn’t spoken specifically about that or lobbied China’s government for change.

“The government needs to do that,” he said. “I could do whatever I want … I’m not going to do whatever I want without my board when it’s something like that, but we believe in human rights, we don’t believe in genocide or anything like that. But for me to like gratuitously make public statements I think is a mistake.”

Ah...I see! Criticizing President Trump for comments that he made that were carefully edited by the mainstream media for maximum shock value is perfectly okay, but criticizing the Chinese government for forced organ donations and the genocide of an ethnic group within China is beyond the pale?

Apparently criticism of political rhetoric is just part of his job, but calling out genocide is best left to...uh...who?

This is of course transparent nonsense, because his company does a huge amount of business with China and all Dimon is doing is protecting the bottom line. It's particularly disgusting because he is also placating the frothing-at-the-mouth NeverTrump lunatics who care more about Mean TweetsTM than actual mass murder.

This is a perfect example of Ace's COrPorAtIOnS ArE YOuR FrIEnDS. Dimon would rather pretend that China is a neutral player on the world's stage so as to protect his huge fortune and his company's connections in the Chinese economic house of cards than call them out for their genocide. That is intellectually and morally dishonest, and does a a disservice to the very people for whom he claims to fight.

*Full disclosure: I own JPM stock.

But they obviously want to socially engineer America while shooting themselves in the foot financially with their customer bases and grafting their way to wealth.

It's the combination that irritates me.

imo it must be a few elites with a bigger plan, where American Independence (and that coincident American Spirit) must be killed ... so they can "Build Back Better" as most of our Western leaders are chanting in unison.

Who coordinates memes like that, and gets all those leaders regurgitating the same meme?

"Flood" is a tactic the Gates/Davos type crowd crow about ... the ability to flood the zone with their message, drowning out all else. The incredible censorship of "vaccine/mask deniers" is one obvious example of their top down power.

There are only to possible reasons:
1. That's there, whereas this is here. I am here and therefore I speak about it. What is not here is not my place to speak about. What those savages do is on them.
2. I am safe criticizing my government and its officials but I am not safe to do the same with China, and I make too much money in China, and China is too important, and therefore I say nothing about China because my business interests there outweigh my discomfort with their policies.

Pick one, Dimon. And it isn't the first, and we both know it. If it were, you wouldn't be in a position to make the second relevant. So just own it. Your business interests are more important than human rights in some barbarian country you don't live in.

They created the disaster with lies and fraud and then put a gun to the people's head and demanded a bailout. Playing the political process to your advantage does not make you a great banker. It makes you a great leech. There was a portion of the TARP legislation (IIRC, and sponsored out of Schumer's district) that was intended to provide post-hoc prohibition of ANY legal liability or recourse for the gifting of Washington Mutual to JPM. It could not have been more plainly targeted at the seizure and gift of Washington Mutual to JPM if they used actually entity names. It was the most grotesque display of crony capitalism in my lifetime, until the GM bondholders got screwed in favor of the labor unions.

It was straight up theft to benefit the politically connected.

yeah, I guess. "free market" is not so different though. We are a nation founded in liberty. Trade has to be established under that umbrella. (I'm not clear why Marx thought the term capitalism was harmful, but sure, free trade is better maybe.

Anti-fascism is good I guess, but government has an essential role in maintaining individual liberty in the nation, even if the founders did not perceive of the Corporate/Government DeepState/cartel alliances against Lady Liberty.

Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at October 05, 2021 10:28 AM (Lqh74)"

Setting aside whether the incident that kicked off the Uighur genocide was a false flag or not - the Uighurs aren't exactly peaceful, but they're not particularly into jihadism - this isn't a hard fight to pick a side. The Uighurs didn't do anything to warrant cultural destruction.

And if they did, then the way to do it is to simply wipe them out. Mass disassembly for organs, forced sterilization and/or institutional rape, slave labor - any party in position of power to undertake that pretty much by definition isn't able to justify it.

I'm a little conflicted over this. On the one hand, we're (ok, I'm) happy to tar the 'ham-and-eggers' with the same brush as FIB management over their silence, but on the other I thought there were some good eggs over at Arthur Anderson who didn't deserve to get thrown out of work when the gov't shut the company down. I guess this means that I need to be a little more careful with my blanket criticisms when I'm posting...

Because Marx subscribed to - and helped to invent - the "labor theory of value." Marxism defines everything in labor terms and raises it as the moral absolute. Labor is good, non-labor is bad. Capital wealth is therefore evil and "capitalism" serves to provide distinct language between purely labor-centric value systems and capital-centric or hybrid systems (and ours is hybrid - capital and labor must find equilibrium and there are some fascinating specific examples of this dynamic)

There are a lot of secular movements to try to rein in excessive accumulation - Conscious Capitalism, Compassionate Conservatism, etc - but unless there is a change in heart, they will never solve the problem. We can scoff at Omar, but that doesn't address the point, which needs to be done effectively if we're to stop the woke infection that is threatening to undermine Western Civ.

We worship Memorial Day (lots of dead), Pearl Harbor Day (but not VOJ), D-Day (but not VOE), The Alamo (but not San Jac), 9-11 (but not Mission Accomplished or the day bin Laden was allegedly neutralized).

We build monuments to our enemies and their victories over us, but no monument that represents a Win should ever stand. So get back in line and worship the subjugation and genocide of the Natives.

I despise FB as much as any other defender of unfettered free speech, but let's be real: CNN & MSNBC's campaign against FB has nothing to do with children, or false information, and everything to do with ideas getting into circulation CNN/MSNBC would rather see censored.

325 Perhaps Capitalism only works in a religious culture where people create the wealth and do good works seeking redemption as they approach their end.

Posted by: Button Pushing Monkey at October 05, 2021 10:59 AM (EcHpA)

Agreed. Capitalism works best within a framework of moral self restraint. In an absence of self restraint government restraint will be applied and either fascism or communism will eventually ensue, depending on who's name is on the ownership papers.

Honestly, the government will eventually try to take control no matter what, but it's easier for them if they can use the lack of restraint as an excuse.

337 Manchin and Sinema have stood up this far. Maybe they were bargaining, but it seems to me they were protecting their careers. The proper strategy is to keep the heat on about the bills and let them know their job is on the line.

338 I often think that the biggest underlying problem with everything is that slowly, over a period of decades, the culture became "Money is God". The culture and most people you hear talking believe that the overriding factor in every decision made should always be "what is the best thing for my finances". There is no higher moral code. And the message is also "if you don't operate like this, you are a weirdo, chump and loser"

340 I think it's important to recall that back in 2007 when the market crashed Chase shares went under $1, and only gov't intervention via too big to fail saved them.
Gov't saved them so well they used the "extra" proceeds to buy more banks and consolidate.
Sure, Chase wasn't the only large institution to benefit.. but they sure did.

345 iirc, someone here once explained that breaking ATT maybe helped expand internet access to everyone ... idk

But should we let China come in a buy everything? Should we let BigCorp buy everything, till all is owned by one? (TacoBell ftw). China is using this tactic around the world, buying resources ... even here they are in meat processing, buying real estate, not blocked often enough.

you didn't answer ... are you in favor of anrachy, if you want no restraints, since all restraints are rope to hang us?

347 This might get willowed, and I gotta boogie off to work, but I'll put it here, just for the record.

TX "pardoning" the dead Floyd wasn't in recognition of any virtue of Floyd, BUT RATHER in recognition of the fact that the Houston P.D. cop that made the bust and testified in the case has been demonstrably proven (but not yet convicted in court), of being a lying, murdering scumbag of an Only Ones Thugocracy, and THOUSANDS of convictions based on his involvement and testimonies are now being vacated, dismissed and pardoned, as the taint of his perfidies ARE that HUGE. Floyd was just one of those now vacated convictions.

Leslie Howard played Ashley Wilkes in Gone With the Wind, yes? Vyvyan (one spelling among probably others) was a male name in England into the 20th Century.

352 In a 3-0 decision, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said the federal government had authority to impose a $10,000 cap on the state and local taxes that households' itemizing deductions could write off their federal returns.

The decision is a defeat for New York, Connecticut, Maryland and New Jersey, which challenged the so-called SALT cap implemented as part of a $1.5 trillion tax overhaul in 2017.
