A North Carolina woman is accused of taking her 7-month-old son to a break-in, where she was found with a number of items and pills, a sheriff’s deputy said. Deputy Robert Watson of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office said multiple charges were filed against Jenny Annette Skidmore Reel, 28, of Marion, including breaking and entering and child abuse, news outlets reported. According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a home in Marion on June 21 after a report of a break-in. The sheriff’s office said deputies found Reel at the scene and found she had stolen medication, a power saw, coins, knives, socks and jewelry. Deputies say she had her son with her, and she had pills in her possession, the sheriff's office said.

It's super easy. Slice romaine lengthwise into halves if small and quarters if larger. Leave the thick stem on so it holds together. Drizzle on some olive oil, crushed garlic, lemon and Worcestershire sauce and work it into the leaves.
Grill for 30-45 seconds and then hit with more lemon and some parm and fresh ground pepper.

I had fun with a robocall yesterday. From some "veterans" group asking for donations to support candidates who will fight for veterans. Asked if they send a pledge card can they count on my support. I responded by asking for a list of candidates who they recently supported so I can determine if we are aligned. It through their pre-recorded responses into a tizzy. I just kept repeating the question. Never got an actual person. I enjoyed that a lot more than I probably should have!!

Bingo. That's what I'm using. Tamiya lists their rattle can for the color so I had to find an acrylic I actually had. Luckily I had the LGG.
Going with the VF-111. I'm a sucker for The sharks teeth.
And yes, incredible fit. Tamiya is just head and shoulders above any kit I've ever tried.

I does seem to be good at what it does, however, now, it might not be as useful as everybody says.
It is inexpensive, reliabl, shoots inexpensive ammo.
However, it is not nearly as modular as an ar and if something does gor wrong with it is not as easy to fix

VF-111 Sundowners is a very very good choice. Got an AFV Club F-5F- Tiger II in VFC-111 markings in the grape camouflage scheme with a big Rising Sun tail.
The Tamiya P-38F/G kits are beautiful in the fit and engineering. Just if you are building a plane not in their markings study the construction steps and put notes on which option will go on your build.

Yes they do. I like Tamiya paints. They shoot well when properly thinned and adhere well. But Tamiya doesn't bother with era specific or color accurate paints, which sucks. But that's why we get choices.

Kansas always had a Christian undercurrent to their music. The band leads early on in interviews, were wishy washy about that diverting questions often with spiritual mumbo-jumbo. But it's hard to interpret a lot of the themes and lyrics any other way than with new testament narratives.

They are the same entity. The businesses lobby and own the politicians, who make the laws favorable to the interests of the businesses, who then kick that back to politicians. See Hunter Biden for instance.
Speaking of Pharma and the health care industry all together, they represent the biggest single lobbying group. Over the past 20 years, they spend about $233M per year lobbying CONgress, $414M on campaign contributions to federal officeholders and another $877M on state and local lobbying and campaign contribution efforts.
That's well over $1B per year on average buying politicians.

The M16A2 ballistics are better. I'm ignorant as to just how different the AR-15 is to the M16A2, but I suspect they are close, so you'll be more accurate and have a greater max effective range than with the AK.

It is a sound weapon given it's time and the genesis of it's development. Solid enough out to 300 yards on average, serviceable by the common Soviet Peasant. Modularity in Small Arms really only made the Big Time with U.S. officially adopting the M-1913 Picatinny Rail system. Which begat every conceivable fore-end variation, flat-top railed receivers became the norm, and the previously "exotic" CAR-15 Carbine's four-position adjustable stock were installed on more ARs than not. An early Vietnam Era M-16 wasn't really that modular, in that there were damn few "modules" then available to go goofily excess with the accessories.

Exactly! Jeez, when I think back to some of the godawful Masses I endured back in the '70's, it's no wonder that I left the Church for 25 years. I remember a "Mass" a lib neighbor invited us to - held in her living room. Communion was hulks of whole wheat bread and some jug wine from the grocery store. And don't get me started on the folk Masses and the political lectures. It was embarrassing - like watching your ancient and dignified old aunt suddenly show up in a miniskirt and go-go boots, trying to be cool.

I recall reading claims that Standard Oil was refueling U-Boats under some contract or somesuch during the war. Maybe that is a bit out of context. The German or Nazi Reichsmark traded on international exchanges until late 1944 or into 1945 maybe, something like that.

The only function of a corporation is to create shareholder value. It should be amoral. If they don't break the law, then what the hell should we complain about?
I believe that Twitter and FaceBook ARE breaking the law by manipulating the information they control. They are essentially media utilities, and have a very different function. But Pfizer? They should maximize profit within the law. Anything else is violating their charter.

Can be made in a blacksmith shop with standard tools. Can run while nearly rusted shut. Can convert to full auto without much problem and won't run away like some designs. Easy to learn, use, strip, clean (snrk) and interchange parts. Magazines can be used in hand to hand combat and then reloaded.
downside, comes in ugly colors and does not say "SIG" or "HK" on the side.

There is a lot of time and money invested in mRNA research for the purpose of curing cancer. This forced mRNA treatment helps amortize the cost of the equipment, R&D and continued manufacturing process.
We are also learning a lot of the side effects and negative reactions to the mRNA treatment. This technology is relatively nascent so this mass participation project is about getting as much information as possible to move the development along.

Seriously that liability exemption goes back a ways. The argument was, as was mentioned above, that Pharma makes only a "rounding error" on vaccines, and lawsuits would make it a loss, so they successfully got the exemption.
The US taxpayer is on the hook for damages caused by vaccines since then.
For the Covid vaccines, they got another exemption (something that applies only to health emergencies, which has an even higher bar, I'll have to look up the details).

Dude, I've been a musician my whole life and probably don't know 90% of whats out there. There's just waaay too much. In my case its tunnel vision, metal is mother, metal is father, and I'm still finding metal bands I never heard of. I can only imagine having to keep up with other genres as well.

I read a piece about this several years ago. By a conservative. He said when this idea became accepted, well, that was the beginning of the end of American capitalism. I was looking up this vaccine immunity stuff. Back in the '80s, they gave Pharma immunity from vaccine lawsuits, 'cause they were only making a "rounding error" off them. There were many large jury awards based on dubious claims (they said) and the nation's vaccination efforts were in mortal peril.
The act that created it was in '86, and it created the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, VCIP. This is a no-fault system. The US Taxpayer pays all claims. It is a fairly high bar.
To date, about $4B in claims have been paid out. The US taxpayer pays this.
But, wait, the Covid vaccines aren't covered under the VCIP.

The Covid vaccines don't fall under the VICP. They fall under the CICP, Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program, a very different animal. They fall under the "PREP Act" signed into law by the Shrub in 2005. This was in response to fears of biowarfare and the countermeasures necessary to combat them. Pharma lobbied heavily for it.
This allows this HHS to declare something a countermeasure for an emergency (pandemic, bio attack), and gives near blanket immunity to everyone involved in the effort against said attack or emergency.
This goes so far as to preempt state laws on drug safety. It is being used heavily to bar lawsuits in this here COVID emergency pandemic. Nursing homes, for instance, are invoking it.
PREP established the CICP to pay out damages caused. The bar is much higher than the VICP. Claims can only be made in the DC district court, and the bar is very high. There is no well defined funding mechanism for the CICP.
Suffer serious injury from a Covid vaccine? Lots of luck. You're gonna need it.

I've always wanted to learn. I recently retired so I have a little more

Mexican strats are pretty cheap, and are pretty damn good for the money. What sucks is a few years back there was an American series called the Highway One, and those were really affordable. I think I paid $550 for the last new one I got. The problem is they aren't made anymore, so used prices went up. A good decent mexican strat with single coil pickups is probably where you want to be for blues, but you might want the humbuckers for rock, because they are more powerful. They are 2 different sounds. SRV is single coils, the sound is distinct, but as a beginner it may not be that much of an issue, but as you really get going and get better, yeah you're not getting out alive and will be buying more guitars anyway. lol

Oh, Pfizer, outstanding corporate citizens. How quickly we forget. In 2009, they paid a $2.3B fine, criminal an civil for shenanigans about Bextra, one of those wonderful COX-2 NSAIDS (of which the infamous Vioxx was one).
That included a criminal fine of $1.2B. Pfizer pled guilty to a felony violation of the Food and Drug act, BTW. THe balance of the fine was for civil violations involving Bextra and 3 other drugs.
SO keep that in mind. Pfizer is an admitted corporate felon.

It goes back to '58, when they were charged with price fixing in the antibiotics market, and lying in a patent application for tetracycline. In '61, the DoJ filed anti-trust charges against them. That drug (pun intended) out. The FTC stopped the price fixing, and a federal jury found them guilt on the anti-trust, but they appealed and got the verdict thrown out. But they ended up paying more in civil damages over the same issues.
In '99 they pleaded guilty to anti-trust violations, and were fined

The most egregious thing Pfizer did involved a antibiotic trial Pfizer conducted in '96 in Nigeria. They used children there as guinea pigs for menigitis without parental consent. That case dragged out until 2009, when Pfizer paid $75 million in damages in Nigerian court cases. In 2011, they paid out an "undisclosed amount" for those cases filed in US courts.
This Nigerian case is well. Their wonder drug there, called Trovan, killed 5 out of 100 children (that's a kill rate of 5%), and disabled many more for life. That was the treatment group. But the control group was given a standard treatment.
Pfizer lowered the dose of this control treatment below recommended levels in hopes of making Trovan look better.
I guess this conduct really increased shareholder value, didn't it?

At least part of the reason was because of litigation. There was little incentive to manufacture a relatively low profit medication (vaccine) that was joined at the hip to enormous potential loss via lawsuits. So the pharmaceutical companies just quietly stopped making them.
The rest as they say, is history. Congress stepped in, and cut them a deal where they agreed to make them, in exchange for a cost shifting mechanism to the taxpayer, and they assumed no liability. They have immunity.

And... I can just drop Mr. I off and come back to pick him up. It should give me about 2 hours for a much needed bike ride or a walk. His therapy is very close to our local bike trail.

Bought PFE yrs ago, thought Boomers might get old and need drugs. Haven't followed the ethical issues. It has pd good dividends for yrs.
Should I divest because they might have done something sketchy in the past? I'm not using that plan in my RothIRA. Others may, but not me.

I have no idea what varying brands my clothes are. I doubt anything is Nike, but odds are good some (many?) of them are made overseas in factories that are subpar, both morally and legally.
What about this Bic lighter in my hand? I don't know where it was made or by who. A quick google check lists France, Spain, Brazil, Canada, China... basically everywhere. You could go mad trying to purity test everything you purchase.
That doesn't excuse it though. I guess that makes me a hypocrite?

Cause any actor who did just shit would be destroyed.
I imagine if anyone went through the conduct of the corporations involved in their investment portfolios, one would find all sorts of ugly behavior.

No, we just had a brief shower, wish we had more.
Our apple tree is hugely overloaded this yr. If I wasn't so old and crippled I'd drag the hose out front and water it a bit to get more production.
As it is, my also crippled wife Jules, doesn't need any more apple volume to deal w/ than God is willing to provide. We will deal w/ what the Lord provides.
Hope your Mom is at least stabilized. You have a tough row to hoe, so to speak. Please look into some mild anti-inflammatories for your self. You need to take care of yourself if you want to continue to take care of others.
