The Morning Rant

MORE PROVERBS FOR MODERN TIMES

A wise man's heart inclines him to the right, but a fool's heart to the left.
--(Ecc 10:2)

There are three things that anger progressives, yea four things that fills them with rage: happiness, gratitude, contentment, and humility.

'Woke' is the same as useless. (h/t Xipe Totec)

For progressives, there's no bigger crime than not believing their bullshit. (h/t Seattle Independent)

'Anti-racists' are only communists in disguise and Marxism hides behind a facade of 'social justice'.

Conservative hurry to pass laws after they've lost the war.

Conservatives get angry when you lie to them, but progressives get angry when you tell them the truth. (h/t Miles Commodore)

Feminists think they're oppressed because they only compare themselves to high-status alpha males and don't even see low-status men as human.

The person who doesn't listen to the media is the best informed.

Socialism is looting disguised as equality enforced by tyranny disguised as compassion.

Progressives do not care about *anything* they claim to care about.

Behind every news item is an agenda.

If Leftists are mocking something, it's probably true and important. (h/t Trimegistus).

Journalism is an industry of lies and "fact checkers" are just another layer of icing, baked into journalism's cake of lies. (h/t illiniwek)

Hate is not a crime.

Most guns have only one trigger, but liberals have many (h/t xbradtc)

The future belongs to those who show up for it.

Friday Who Dis: You can read all about Lana Turner and her tumultuous private life, married 8 times, involved in the killing of a gangster, etc., on her imdb page. But she did have great acting chops as seen in the 1959 drama Imitation of Life with John Gavin, actor, businessman, and ambassador to Mexico appointed by President Ronald Reagan.

78 "Progressives do not care about *anything* they claim to care about."

No, ithat's simply a paraphrase of Fen's Law:

"The Left doesn't really believe in the things they lecture the rest of us about"

...coined in the 90s in response to feminists excusing Clinton's sexual harassment in the workplace, after lecturing us for a decade about how evil it was.

It's meant to caution you from wasting time and energy shelling a hill the Left claims to occupy but doesn't.

For example, you can argue that guns save more lives than they take till you are blue in the face and it will have no effect on the Left. Because despite what they say, they don't really care how my lives were lost - they just want you defenseless before the State. So you're better off arguing against that.

__________

Kinda ironic that the "anti-racist" people are the ones arguing that racial discrimination must go on forever.

The "anti-racists" insist that the only way to remedy past racial discrimination against some groups is to mandate current racial discrimination against some other groups, which means that in future generations, there will always be some group that has been unfairly discriminated against in the past, which will necessitate more discrimination in the future, ad infinitum.

It's beyond idiotic.

Damn straight. Hate is as natural as love. There is justifiable hate. To criminalize hate is to criminalize free thought.

Yes -- How can an emotion, a feeling be a crime?

It legal to hate anyone or anything. One could argue about how *healthy* it is, but that has nothing to do with criminality. I am tired of pretending that tolerance is mandated, particularly by those who openly hate a large portion of the American public.

Schlock is really niche. Very little of it spills out of the little node of fandom that loves it. Ilsa is a title that I do recognize, so it has some reach beyond its core fanbase.

I participate in another forum and there are subforums dedicated to trashy Italian crime thrillers from the 70s, yakuza movies, monster movies from the 80s, and based on all their comments you'd think that the home releases were the most important home releases of the year. And yet, each release probably sells, maybe, 10,000 units.

Tell her who you are and she if she's willing to have an open discussion about why each of you are the way you are. Try to find the things you agree on.

I'm not optimistic that she will remain open minded. But be true to yourself and don't run/hide. Let her choose to be open or closed.

Did they over-order? Is this because foot traffic at normal sales points is down? Is this because the girl scouts that "sold" via mom and/or dad flogging cookies at the office can't post equivalent sales numbers because mom and dad aren't working in the office this year?

That particular data point isn't hugely interesting. The internals probably are.

In the early Sixties, Elaine May and Mike Nichols wrote and did the
voices in a series of animated commercials for our local Jax Beer. They
were funny -- but apparently they mostly appealed to the kind of people
who normally didn't drink beer, so the ad campaign was not a resounding
success. Didn't hurt the brand, but didn't result in an explosion of
Jax Beer sales.

It *has* to be this way. The Left makes progress through social destruction, and the best route to social destruction is the elimination of taboos. As they successfully peel back and destroy taboo, they have to go after more and more extreme taboos to make progress. They're starting to run out. They got rid of self-enforcing prohibitions on promiscuous sex, homosexuality, drug use, sadomasochism, etc. There's only so many places left to go.

224 "Hate does not exist in the quantities lefties would have you believe."

"Maybe it exists in leftists of all backgrounds"

The Left doesn't really believe that hatred is bad. They want more hatred. They want women to hate men, they want sons to hate mothers, blacks to hate whites, poor to hate rich, neighbors to hate each other, etc. Because that tears society down and gives the Marxists and opening to take it over.

It's why they keep creating new hate "crimes", because as people are more careful (or terrified) of giving offense, there's no longer any low-hanging fruit. That's why a garage door pull loop needed to be turned into a KKK noose.

The latest is that using the word "female" is offensive. There will always be hate crimes because they need to make them up. Because this isn't really about intolerance for the Ctrl Left, it's about making people jump.

228 It *has* to be this way.
Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at June 14, 2021 10:54 AM (Jsjd7)

I read it somewhere before and it's completely true, leftism, at this point, is just the complete inability to say "no." All things must be considered as legit. To say no is to out yourself as the hateful bigot that you are. And who ultimately leads packs like this? The most depraved people possible.

232 I just want to take this opportunity to thanks those Republicans who so fearlessly voted to confirm Gensler as SEC Chair. His highly unusual approach to attacking rules people just spent years finalizing, and upending the markets all in the name of socialist, woke, racist policies is truly an attack on our capitalist system and free markets. I can think of few things more destructive to our economy and general well being then ti use the SEC as a political tool, and remove any semblance of impartiality. It completes the attack on our agencies, military and any other auspices of government that are meant to serve all the people equally. Thanks for your courage, Republicans. Once theft is verified, it needs to be overturned, and the thieves removed. If BLM goes crazy again, it goes crazy again, but allowing theft to succeed just guarantees more theft. 242 197 athletes already on PEDs run greater risk of COVID jab complications:

that's a LOT of them btw

and especially youth athletes, because middle and high schools don't test

I remember middle school, girls in her club hitting puberty and a parent was like "we're all getting asthma diagnoses so the girls get a little boost from the (steroid) inhalers" - and literally all of a sudden they were all "asthmatic"... then they were all on adderall.

THEN they were all on BP pills to make sure they didn't have periods (those who did, b/c being so skinny and overtraining prevented menses). she was ball girl at a college game and had her period during it - asked the players for a pad and they were like "none of us have periods we are all on birth control that stops periods"

THEN she gets to HS and the assistant coach was talking about "nutrition" but really about her "special supplements" the girls should all take. none of this stuff is tested for during HS years of competition, and for those who go on to international competitions they have ways to clear out the banned ones. but using an inhaler for extra run speed or the adderall

their go-to accusation. They see it so much in themselves, they assume
others are as filled with it as they are.

That's just sad. What's even sadder is there's no reason to be filled with hatred towards your fellow carbon-based life-forms. Yeah, life sux occasionally, but hating as a response only makes things a lot worser.

It's painfully obvious those people have never heard of The Golden Rule: Treat others as you would have them treat you. you were really pushed to take PEDs and other stuff

the percentages of college athletes who need adderall are ridiculously high. they use it to enhance performance. I think I saw stats on that being way out of whack, plus the numbers of "athletic-induced asthma" were insanely high.

so now with that situation they're being forced to take the vax which has some effect on the heart - this is NOT GOOD

296 personally, I would sell it and buy ten bottles of Elijia Craig. Nothing wrong with enjoying what you own and like, I want to be clear about that. But Elmer is very rare these days, that bottle is worth a lot to many.

Posted by: Quint at June 14, 2021 11:03 AM (gJfTA)

I found that bottle of Elmer by accident. Local liquor store had a bottle hiding behind the counter on a day I asked if they had any. Paid more than I wanted to, but still a steal by today's standards. $70.

Around the same time, I found another rare bourbon, also made by B-Trace. Rock Hill Farms. Has one of the coolest bottles I've ever seen. Looks like a decanter. Paid $65 for that. It has remained unopened as well.

I imagine I could sell them for $300-$400. Each! But I buy bourbon to drink it. Eventually!

316 I'm here.Need some advice.Couple days ago I met a woman while sitting at the pool and we seemed to have a lot in common. Similar degrees, similar career paths which led to being in business for ourselves because no respect for authority, similar stage in life. Exchanged phone numbers. At end of conversation, turns out she is SJW whose current virtue signaling is gun violence and helping "poor people" through her Congregation which broke off from the "normal" synangogue because it wasn't social justicy enough.
I tried to explain tht I don;t mix politics with religion and that I am not a liberal to which she replied that she was "open minded". So, okay that I'm a secret nazi, gun owner who hates poor people as I am a white priveleged apostate Jew. At least that ws the way I took her comment. Now she is texting me. Should I just ignore her or tell her who I really am and sheif she goes running. But what if she doesn't run?

355 My favorite liberal/conservative conversation came shortly after we moved, so lots of new people. I was with a group of women I had walked dogs with, skied with, and one I had never met. She said, "I assume we all have the same politics." One of my dog-walking friends said, "No, Wenda's a conservative, but not a dumb one." The woman I didn't know said, "Well, if you're not dumb, why are you conservative?"
I'm not quite sure why my reply popped into my head but it did. I said, "Liberals usually share Rosseau's view of man. I'm more in favor of Blake's.

nice recco. I know people are pushing it big time. Some guy came up with the idea and named if for a former slave who worked for Jack Daniels I believe. I personally wonder about so many new bourbon products. They always come up with a story, and then source he booze from someone else. The owner is usually just some guy, from somewhere. An example if Clyde Mays. Called Alabama whiskey, but not a drop is made in Alabama.

Sourced whiskey can be very good though. That you like it goes a long way. The whiskey has had rave reviews. I do think people should do a deep dive on the reality of these things. At least check where it was distilled and bottled. But I heard this stuff was good.

Nice! I had a conversation like that once. I was playing board games at an old friend's house, and he got started on how dumb Republicans are. Another friend spoke up and pointed out that I was a Republican. The host then said something like, "Well, okay, I know you're not dumb, but you have to admit most Republicans are. Why would you associate with them?"

I briefly mentioned media gaslighting, and then I told him about Congressman Hank Johnson's speculations on the seaworthiness of the island of Guam. Another friend busted up laughing at that, and then I pointed out that they'd never heard about that statement in the news because Johnson is a Democrat.
