64 Murillo surprises me. There is a realism or natural look to his paintings that I associate with a later period. I enjoy the way he can capture both serious moments and figures, like today's, as well as the more casual like the domestic scenes he painted. Part of that effectiveness is the way he uses natural light to create shadows and atmosphere. I also appreciate the detail he can convey. It doesn't need a crowded scene but shows in the wrinkles and embroidery in clothing, or the figures' hair, or the pages of a book. I expect to see that in Rembrandt, not a century earlier.

Dad would tell my brothers and me not to look at the magazines while he was in the chair.

So we spent that time "flushing" all the cigarette butts in the standing ashtrays by pressing the little lever.

And also by sneaking peaks at the girlie mags.

The painting was done in 1655. A lot of artists would show historical figures based on what prominent church officials or other patrons wore at the time. So, while this is not a time capsule for the 6th century, it is one for the 17th.

I think that is the idea. On the one hand rampant street crime creates fear which the government can use to its advantage, and by essentially removing any curtailment of ANY behaviors encourages more "refugees" to allow the great replacement to continue.

Oh, and if a kid comes out of it even better! The child will likely hate men thanks to the circumstances of conception and since he/she will be half immigrant/half native cements the great replacement.

290 A self-described socially conscious vegan food manufacturer laid off its entire production staff in North Carolina on Friday, infuriating workers who said the lack of notice and severance pay was out of step with the company's stated values.
Audio of the layoff announcement at No Evil Foods provided to HuffPost by a source captured stunned workers shouting back at company leaders who delivered the news.
"So we get fired so you can stay alive?" one worker said to the company's chief executive, Mike Woliansky, as Woliansky explained that the facility will be shut down.
Several workers reacted with disbelief after the company's human resources chief, Drew Pollick, explained they would be paid for Friday's work but nothing beyond that because "we're out of money."
Workers were heard yelling "screw all of y'all" and "Fuck you!"
"You can't tell me there's absolutely no money," one said.

305 341 I suspect some of the corporate real estate purchases are meant to be sold to the federal government in order to put in "projects" and share the blue city non-working poor.
____________

This nonsense really pisses me off. The bullshit leftist notion that somehow owning a nice home will magically transform lazy, stupid, drug-addict welfare moochers and criminals into hard-working, responsible citizens is insane.

Home ownership "is associated with" traits like being responsible, it doesn't cause those traits. People who own nice homes typically worked hard for many years to get to the point where they could afford to buy a nice home. The government didn't drop the nice home in their lap because their skin color or welfare-dependency status made them "oppressed."

Giving homes in good neighborhoods to welfare dependents and drug addicts and gang-bangers isn't going to transform those people into responsible citizens. It's just going to degrade the neighborhoods, and punish the neighbors -- the people who bought the houses without "gifts" from Uncle Sugar.

Always, every time. Just look at their academic language. The academic papers have been referring to things like "black and brown bodies" for a long time now. That's their language and it exposes the truth. Only the body matters, and the color of its wrapper and its genitalia. Not the person's morality or work ethic or the content of his character or anything else. Just the color of the person's wrapper and the person's sex organs. That's it.

And yes, there's a word for this - a word they never acknowledge.

That's the point - spreading "diversity" to those members of the productive class that have moved away from it. Remember, your neighbor who is married with 2.4 kids, has a job and take care of his house is NOT diverse even if he is black. The guy with a drug habit and no job they want to bring to your neighborhood though...very diverse.

Oh, and instilling terror in them from street crimes so they'll support whatever the government wants to do.

Companies get tax breaks to make it, and to build new facilities. The stock price takes a jump, because they're moving into "new" hot growth markets (Yes, sales doubled last year, from $2 all the way to $4). The big boys sell their stock at the artificially high price (Cuz "pump and dump" is illegal, except when it's not). The company quietly bails out later.

Yeah, like the common piece of marketing used by startups that talk about they're the "fastest-growing company in the segment." It's probably true. Going from zero dollars in sales, or a hundred bucks, or whatever you had during build-out to a few million bucks' worth of sales is a phenomenal growth rate. It doesn't mean the product is any good, or that you have staying power, or that the market is big enough to meet your projections, or that your projections are based in reality. Huge sales growth in percentage terms during the first three years of operation is commonplace and should be expected.

Even ones who did not start in poverty will blow the money. A lot of them just waste it. This also goes for lawsuit settlements paid in lump sums. 419 A properly fitted round ball will leave a small ring of lead as it's pressed in with the loading lever. This makes an effective seal to keep any spark away from the wrong chamber.
Grease isn't required IF the ball is properly sized. Same goes for the percussion cap, wrong size can easily lead to it falling off and opening the chamber to sparks.
It actually takes abysmal lack of care to set up the circumstances necessary for chain discharge.

CNN reports that Andy Slavitt, one of President Biden's top COVID-19 advisers who stepped down this week, wrote in his new book "Preventable" that Birx spoke to him after briefing officials in Minnesota last summer.
"I wanted to get a sense for whether, in the event of a strained transition of government, she would help give Biden and his team the best chance to be effective," Slavitt wrote of Birx and their meeting, CNN reported.
"She looked me in the eye and said, 'I hope the election turns out a certain way,'" Slavitt wrote in the book, according to CNN. "I had the most important information I needed," he added, according to the outlet.
The interaction reportedly took place last August when Slavitt met with Birx, who worked on the coronavirus task force under Trump, after being invited to attend the briefing.
Slavitt noted that Birx was "completely silenced" by the Trump administration, and that she seemed "downright scared."

447 Even ones who did not start in poverty will blow the money. A lot of them just waste it. This also goes for lawsuit settlements paid in lump sums.
_________

Yep, there are all kinds of studies that show that people who earn money are much more responsible with it than people who are just handed money, and put no personal effort into obtaining it.

And we can see that in the example of lottery winners (both the game type and the lawsuit type), and also in examples of inherited wealth. The people who originally earned the fortunes are typically much more careful with it than the idiot sons and daughters who just inherited tons of cash from successful dad or mom.
