Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | White House Tightens Requirements for "Hard Passes," and Takes Them Away From Many (#FakeNews) "Journalists;" Press Corps ShrieksThese people are, by and large, not reporters and not White House reporters. Dana Milbank is a snarky columnist. He doesn't often "report," and when he does, it's a disaster. These hard passes are necessary for actual reporters covering the White House (though they then lie in their reports) but they're not necessary for columnists and opinionators. For those people, they're merely a small status symbol. To reduce the large number of people who could stream through security with minimal checking, the White House imposed a new rule that to have and keep a hard pass, you have to be present on the White House grounds 90 days out of every 180 days, which seems like a decent test of who is, and who is not, a bona fide White House reporter and who just signed up to get the hard pass to impress his parents. But the media people who don't come to the White House as part of their daily jobs are shrieking. As usual.
"The White House press office granted exceptions to the [others], but not to me,” [Dana Milbank] wrote. "I strongly suspect it's because I'm a Trump critic."LOL. Right, and the rest of the White House press corps are big supporters of Trump, right? What a weird-looking ugly cuck dummy. "The move is perfectly in line with Trump's banning of certain news organizations, including The Post, from his campaign events, and his threats to revoke White House credentials of journalists he doesn't like." No reporters that cover the White House on a daily, full-time basis have reported losing their hard pass as a result of the new rules put in place. Milbank acknowledges in his column the White House has instead offered him a six-month pass while sharing a White House press office tally that he had only been "in the building only seven times in the previous 180 days," which put him well below the new standards.Make sure you drink plenty of fluids so you don't get dehydrated from all that crying, Dana. Um this actually sounds like reasonable common sense rules: fewer reporters just able to drop in whenever because they aren't around enough to justify the expense and trouble of security.
This isn't some attack on the press its just a reasonable step. Free access to the White House isn't a right for journalists. The problem is that these guys grew up under Obama's incestuous relationship with the media when he wasn't pimp slapping them. They think that's normal. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at May 09, 2019 01:49 PM (39g3+) 55
They did this to themselves. This is the direct result of revoking Acosta's hard pass. Remember the judge's ruling that the pass had to be restored? The White House had operated on the basis of informal professional courtesy -- not on written administrative rules governing the hard passes. That's why Acosta got his pass back.
So it looks like the White House learned its lesson and is now setting up administrative rules to enforce. Journalists should go give Acosta a hug and thank him for this. Posted by: Revenant at May 09, 2019 01:49 PM (mz1tS) 56

I still think they should give Sarah a squirt bottle at every WH press conference, and when the reporters act utterly infantile or unprofessional she gets to squirt them. Bottle will be empty after every presser. Posted by: LizLem at May 09, 2019 01:56 PM (hvf9s) 125

10 dimensional chess: Trump's WH new press rules create a walkout by the traitorous deep state journolists. WH issues new passes to fill their spots with Unpersons banned from social media: Loomer, Milo, Jones, etc. Media is forced to mention this news tidbit on their social media platforms, since it is actual news, and mentions the names of the Unpersons. Media, following the new rules of social media, is stripped from and purged from social media for even daring to MENTION the Unpersons. Social media, with the media elites now vacated from its platforms, undergoes a vacuum from the lack of media circle jerking propaganda and collapses in on itself. WINNING! LOL, they know Trump's got them:
According to Milbank, virtually the entire press corps failed to meet this new test, including all six of the Post's White House correspondents. Media outlets then had to apply for exceptions to cover their senior journalists, or settle for six-month passes, which don't allow as much access. . . Some seemed concerned that the new rules are an attempt to exert more direct control over the White House press corps, aft an incident involving CNN reporter Jim Acosta in November. . . Now, with its new standards for performance and most of the press corps holding passes that have only been issued as "exceptions," the White House has a structure in place that could allow it to remove whoever it wishes to remove. That wouldn't necessarily override First Amendment protection for press access (which Kelly didn't rule on), but in the short term it gives the Trump administration new levers with which to control the press corps. Gale Gordon was Lucy's standby foil for years, yes, but it was a different actor who played Mr. Wilson.
Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at May 09, 2019 02:43 PM (elsTe) Nope. Gale Gordon played the "second" Mr. Wilson after the original, Joseph Kearns died between seasons. Posted by: JoeF. at May 09, 2019 02:44 PM (NFEMn) 490
415 Does The Gateway Pundit still have their guy in the WH press corps(e)? All the other reporters used to laugh and call him names.
Posted by: illiniwek at May 09, 2019 02:33 PM (Cus5s) You mean that they are still laughing after last Christmas Eve, with everything that GP reporter did for them? The snowstorm was blinding, yet their ungrateful kids still got their presents. One more reason to hate the lying, ungrateful press. Posted by: LeftCoast Dawg at May 09, 2019 02:45 PM (sy5kK) 491

It was originally "Mr Whip-it-out" but it didn't test-market well.

Lucian Wintrich was the Gateway Pundit WH reporter, and it seems he was fired, or "moved on" perhaps related to some podcast he did with a "white nationalist" ... something about "scientific racism". that was last August.
he had been in some kerfuffle with other reporters before that ... and yeah, I guess he may have had a shiny nose. Posted by: illiniwek at May 09, 2019 02:50 PM (Cus5s) 499
The Man in Black owns that song, even though Trent wrote it.
Even Trent said so, supposedly. The man in black lived that song for years. He knows what its about. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at May 09, 2019 02:50 PM (39g3+) 500

A commenter above riffed on the "21 years" whine, to good effect.
I think Trump should do just that, to even better effect: JournoList, Rush's montages of all the talking heads using the exact same words, rumors, fake news, smears, misrepresentations, on and on. But then wind it up with "But of course we have a free press. If the press wants to collude to advance an agenda, that is their right. But they harm the american people by doing so. If the press wants to lie, to smear, to mis-report and misrepresent in servecie of their agenda, that is their right. But they harm the american people by doing so. ..." Etc., etc. He's got better speechwriters than I, for sure. I would like the phrase "the tattered remains of their reputation" somewhere in there, though! How great would it have been if Helen Thomas was still around for the Trump presidency. Could you imagine him answering her questions? Sarah Sanders smacking her down? It would have been epic.

Ah Dana, you ought to thank your foxhole/asshole buddy Jim Acosta. He got his press pass yanked, and sued to get it back. Court said White House didn't have "transparent standards" for such revocation decisions.
Hokay--White House writes some standards and posts them. You didn't meet the standards (have to be in attendance at White House 90 days out of the last 180). Be there or be square bozo. Half of life is just showing up, and you didn't show up. But there were some exceptions in the rules, and oddly enough seven out of the eight WaPo reporters assigned to the White House got their press passes. You didn't. A man has to know his limitations and you ought to look in the mirror. You can write your pissy little editorials while sitting at home knocking back a brewsky. You don't need to go to the White House. Posted by: Comanche Voter at May 09, 2019 03:42 PM (WRSbt) 512
GOOD! Shut it down make the media report the news they find not that is handed to them by government. A press release is not news but propaganda. Woodward and bernstein never attended a white house briefing.
