Durbin knew the field where the Republicans could be found, and he knew that he told Hodgkinson how to find it about 30 minutes before the shooting.

Hodgkinson was from out of town, no way did he know how to track them down by himself. And he went to Durbin's office that morning.

This level of derangement is just unreal. If it were a one-off, then it sucks but shit happens. They keep doing this crap, though (like Rand Paul's neighbor beating his ass, etc.). I think this shooting might have just a been a preview of how the Left will continue to escalate.

Nah - that fact remains one of the most closely guarded open secrets in modern America. So well guarded that even the GOP and Trump yawn and tinker on the margins and call it good.

Quite educational though. A significant chunk of the most self-reliant responsible American population can have a gigantic surtax imposed on a basic life cost, just on them, and it remains a virtual secret and a political non-issue, even to a major party (falsely) pretending to be intent on fixing the problem.

125 btw, just to put one story in the sidebar to bed; Chief Justice Roberts chose the best option available to him in the circumstance. The original ethics complaints were filed in the DC Circuit Court, with Merrick Garland of all people. Garland had the choice of a) dismissing them, b) holding a hearing on them, or c) recusing himself and asking the Chief Justice to assign them to someone else. He chose option C. Chief Justice can't hear them himself or dismiss them, so rather than handing them to an Obama appointee to play games with them, he sent them out of Washington to a neutral venue.

Well they've long covered for favored politicians (FDR's crippled legs, for instance), that part started first. They didn't start openly rooting for Dems until 2015. They were doing it more subtly and covertly before that, with a veneer of objectivity but they went full blown open antagonism toward Republicans and openly cheering and praising Democrats around then.

I mean, the NYT had a cover story telling the world how they couldn't cover Trump neutrally, that they had a duty to be hostile and destructive toward him.

160 @67 200 rounds?
That's seven magazine changes!
----------------

Senator Paul seems to be engaging in just a bit of hyperbole here. I did a quick search for the police report on the shooting, but a casual search didn't turn it up. I did, however, find a USA Today article talking about the justification for deadly force against him, and laying out a quick timeline of some of the events. Hodgekinson is believed to have fired "at least" 70 shots. He first fired 62 from his SKS rifle. And then he switched to his pistol and fired an additional 8.

So probably 70, maybe as many as 80, but it's highly unlikely he got that high.

Apparently the responding officers fired 42 times. But it's worth noting that after the first few shots were fired back at him by Scalise's police escort, Hodgekinson took cover. So those shots weren't unobstructed (unlike when Hodgekinson was firing at Scalise and the other lawmakers present).

There's also the issue that there is literally no one over them. You can't have a higher court say, "Bad justice! Overruled!" if there's a seeming conflict. So the justices have to try and follow the spirit of it.

They *are* the comfortable.

Steyn and Tucker were talking about this the other day. Usually, the Left at least cloaks their Revolutions in terms of being for the common man. But this is a revolution of the Elites against the Common Man.

First, they fix Hillary's case so she remains Above the Law as usual, then, with their Cockroach Coup, undermine Washington's peaceful transfer of executive power by the People.

They even had British and Aussie spies help wiretap Trump. And Bernie bro Seth Rich gets the Glock Guillotine on the sidewalk.

Their Mueller Fraud is just a rear-guard action to keep their own corrupt asses out of jail. And they produced the Christine Ford Show Trial to pick our Justices, too.

This is a revolution against the working class by the wealthy, the powerful, and the entrenched in the corrupt Media, Deep State government and amoral corporate Elites.

223 Saw the latest speculation on Kashoggi is that the Saudi's tried to drug him, miscalculated, and killed him with an overdose and then had to figure out how to hide the body. I don't know if that happened, but I find it believable, because powerful drugs are not nearly as predictable as everyone would like to think they are.

I remember reading of a pilot program in Vietnam, where the CIA wanted to perfect a drug which could be easily administered to someone which would cause unconsciousness in seconds - you know, the kind of thing they do in movies all the time. They had several options and tested them in the field when trying to capture Viet Cong or North Vietnamese officers, it was all written up in an official report somewhere. They eventually dropped the program, because the final results - the best they could do - was that when they made it strong enough to guarantee unconsciousness, it worked perfectly about 2/3 of the time, and 1/3 of the time the subject simply dropped dead.

So, it was only usable in situations in which you didn't mind killing 1/3 of the people you were trying to capture.

240 Just thought I'd fess up and admit Krysten Sinema is my congress-critter. AZ-9 is a competitive district added from census numbers in 2010.

She's a constituent service type that has been pushing first-responder and military support. No outward crazy in e-mails or website.

Clearly a 1 in the ScoggDog scale, openly-bisexual, and not clearly crazy, to add complexity to another rule.

I received a high-class mailing yesterday (a keeper, really) with a nice picture of Phoenix and when you tilt it, there's a nuclear fireball reminding me not to vote for her.

My biggest problem with Sinema is that she's a reliable Democrat, and I do not want to have a reliable Democrat for a Senator from AZ.A House member on some veterans affairs committee, maybe.

Good questions would include how much Soros money has she taken, where does she get her staffers/interns (Soros people, I would guess) and which other House members does she share staffers with. Finding old quotes is not enough to stop her. Reminding voters she is a committed Democrat might.

When they express disappointment and ask why, I will tell them it is because I am unwilling to put up with the shenanigans in which they allow their to engage. That trip would cost me somewhere in the neighborhood of $1,500 between gas, hotels, liquor, food, restaurants, etc. - about $1,000 of it in Oregon.

This is a dodge that the FBI uses a lot. WHen its some guy kills his wife for cheating on him, cops have no problem with assigning motive, but when its political suddenly there's just no explaining it!

Why do they say this? Because they don't mean "why did he do this" they mean "why did he take that particular course of action"

In other words, they aren't saying there's no apparent motive for him shooting up the softball game.

They're saying they cannot figure out the motive for choosing to act upon his motivation in this manner. Not why did he do it but why did he come to the point where he did it. What's the driving force BEHIND his motive? Who knows? I can't read minds. Its a mystery!

This is how they get to say this when a guy calls up the press and says in no uncertain terms he's doing this for ISIS and yells Allahu Akbar as he guns down a homosexual bar. No apparent motive, its a mystery!

Frankly I think being attacked by more than one person should be per se justification for lethal force. I am no Chuck Norris, but I've practiced martial arts most of my adult life (karate, Krav, BJJ now) and even you're very proficient, healthy and in-shape (which very few are) a couple determined attackers will likely do a lot of damage on a single person. Throw in a few more and permanent injury or death is almost guaranteed.

The fact is that a public stance by any "cool" celeb that questions the Established Wisdom has an impact. It's a crack in the unanimous wall. It opens up the possibility of skepticism. *shudder*

419 Violent Democrat mobs have been a fixture on the American scene since before the civil war.

Again, yes and we all know that. The difference is that today, the mobs are being egged on, cheered, and protected by the pundits and politicians. They aren't being condemned or ignored, they are being urged on, publicly and openly. They aren't being sympathized with, they are being told to BE MORE VIOLENT.

In 1972, George McGovern wasn't saying "we need to show those dirty Republicans and the establishment fat cats a lesson!"

That is, you must agree, a significant difference.

424 As I recall when the violent right (pro life division) attacked and killed some abortion doctors, the entire Republican party, all members, all congressmen and any Republican dating back to the Whigs was condemned and expected to profusely apologize and swear to never ever protest the murder of babies anymore.

Yet when the left does it and continues to do it, all we hear is silence.

I'm getting real tired of this. Problem is where do you start?

The Media is so diffuse and it's not really all of them just some of them so in fairness you can't go after just them.

And how would you get at them anyway? Now I'm not talking about violence here. I'm sure if the proper threats of exposure were made they'd cave like the wussies that you know they are. There has to be plenty of bad things in their past. Why can't someone dox them?

The media just has to be tamed. told to be neutral or else. But that's not right either as it goes against our ideal of free speech.

Somehow the media must be made to do the fair thing without threat or law.

I'm not smart enough politically or whatever to figure out what. I am smart enough to see we won't get far until the media is either neutralized or balanced.

436 So, I was curious about the 2020 map, and I came across this article from Slate:

https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/10/democrats-senate-2020-prospects.html

Where there's this quote:

"Rather than a pendulum shift in Democrats' favor, the 2020 Senate election is shaping up to be the moment when the organic Republican majority within the Senate falls into place. Trump won 46 percent of the popular vote in 2016 but 60 percent of states, and states like Idaho and Wyoming get just as many senators as California. Unless a whole bunch of red states suddenly turn blue, Democrats will be stuck where they are: in the minority."

Even if Trump loses in 2020 (don't laugh), Republicans should have a comfortable majority in the Senate for at least 4 years.

Think about that.

Keep in mind that most of the polls these numbers are based on are, in a word, garbage. It's axiomatic that not a single Republican candidate will underperform the polls on election day (because nobody can recall a poll of any close race where the GOP candidate did worse on election day than the polls predicted).

Meaning that any Dem candidate under 50% is vulnerable.

Even the allegedly "safe" candidates are within the MoE of 50% and should therefore be considered vulnerable. With the exception of MN-2 all of them are the ultimate in "known commodities". If they're not well over 50% now they're not going to get that many more "undecided" voters between now and election day.

I think these SJWs feel anguish if anyone exists whom she imagines might potentially feel contempt for her. So the obvious solution is to advocate for the destruction of any type of person that she imagines might feel contempt for her.

She probably couldn't conceive of a New Zealand aborigine, or African tribesman or Pakistani peasant feeling that. No, it would only be a peer - American, sophisticated and civilized, and male. I hope he has better ads than what we are currently seeing. The current one has him walking around a trashed neighborhood of Detroit talking about how these people have been left behind. It doesn't do anything to promote himself, just pointing out the obvious.
While Stabenow has one which shows her shaking hands with people in various settings, such as a farm, a tool and die shop, a larger factory, etc. and several endorsements, including a union head, and a CEO, praising how she "gets things done".

Being successful business owner, a combat vet , and black are attributes , but he needs to really start talking what he wants to do and needs to attack Stabenow for being a sheep for the Democrats.

Agreed - just pointing it out for the movement - it still looks pretty comfortable for Stabenow (spit) - and Detroit's lefty loonies aligned with the Univ of MI's leftyuy loonies tend to tip MI over to the side of evil - still if the modelling for right/repub turnout is wrong by any significant margin - then things could get interesting real fast. I am also tending to notice a preference cascade in most, if not all, polling results in favor of republicans right now; as all reasonable, normal people were disgusted by the obviously false smear attacks on a good man like Kavanaugh and are starting to realize how evil and maoist the dems have really become and what it means for their sons and daughters. It is hard to put the evil, antifa, fascist, maoist, gynocracy, mob rule genie back in the bottle once released.

This is a disaster. As bad as you think it is, it's worse. If any of the horde has influence with important people use it.

We're ok. Thanks for the prayers.

630 in re: polling in the James / Stabenow Senate race

although Lil'Debbie has a commanding lead; I think there's a lot of the "shy tory" business going on

no one will admit to the pollsters that they're leaning towards James; they either mumble towards Stabenow, or say they're undecided

I see a flaming metric siht-tonne of John James yard signs out in Washtenaw county (I tend to stay out of The Peoples' Republik of AnnArbor because: reasons)

KANYE: "This hat it gives me power in a way...my dad and my mom separated so there was not a lot of male energy in my home and also I'm married to a family where, you know, there's not a lot of male energy. It's beautiful though."

I think there are a lot of people who have just decided to shut up about who they are voting for. Considering what is going on with being threatened to vandalized to actual assault of Republican supporters, I think most are taking the safe route.

635 Kanye or Ye (what is he calling himself these days?) is interesting...but you know, once you see the light, it is hard to go back to being a brainwashed Dim.

636 I am happy with the work she is doing on prison reform, and the work Kanye is doing to help out Chicago. And how they are connecting with Trump to make a difference.

Unfortunately, Kanye is anti-stop and search. I 'get' the constitutional guarantees about unreasonable search and seizure, but stop and search *would* cut down on the gun violence. You have a piece of paper that permits you to carry? Fine.

There's no way the violence stops until somebody concedes some ground.

I'm disappointed. Or am I just slow in the uptake and everyone else is already assuming it was one or more, or even all, members of the press?
