Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Basket Case: Hillary's Basket of Deplorables Line Will Lose the Race for HerI don't really believe this. I don't think the line is going to make much noise (especially not after her seeing her experience what sure looked like a tonic-clonic seizure). I think it's standard Democrat practice to insult conservative voters, and Democrats never pay a price for it. Don't you bitter clingers agree? I also can't see the Republican party establishment making an issue of this, because, as Tucker Carlson said on Fox last night, the Republican Party establishment agrees completely and is looking to engineer a huge Trump loss so that the Trumpenproletariat will self-deport and the can get back to losing elections in a more principledly-conservative fashion. But, stolen from Instapundit, Spengler make a persuasive case (mildly, to my mind) as to how this will end up hurting her.Mitt Romney’s campaign was unsalvageable after the famous 2012 “47% remark,” by which he simply meant that the 47% of American workers whose income falls below the threshold for federal taxes would be indifferent to his tax cut proposals. The trouble is that these workers pay a great deal of taxes–to Social Security, Medicare, and in most cases to local governments through sales taxes and assessments. After a covert video of his remarks at a private fundraiser made the rounds, Romney spent the rest of the campaign with the equivalent of an advertising blimp over his head emblazoned with the words: “I represent the economic elite.” Clinton has done the same thing with the cultural elite. There are racists and homophones in the Trump camp, to be sure. Everybody’s got to be somewhere. Trump is no Puritan, however, and really couldn’t care less what sort of sex people have, or who uses what bathroom (as he made clear), or who marries whom. He built a new country club in Palm Beach two decades ago because the old ones excluded blacks and Jews. He’s no racist. He’s an obnoxious, vulgar, salesman who plays politics like a reality show. I’ve made clear that I will vote for him, not because he was my choice in the Republican field (that was Sen. Cruz), but because I believe that rule of law is a precondition for a free society. If the Clintons get a free pass for influence-peddling on the multi-hundred-million-dollar scale and for covering up illegal use of private communications for government documents, the rule of law is a joke in the United States. Even if Trump were a worse president than Clinton–which is probably not the case–I would vote for him, on this ground alone. That’s not why Trump crushed the Republican primaries. He won because Americans are tired of an economic elite that ignores them. Americans know the game is rigged against them.I'm not sure you can win elections just be running against "the elite." The Democrats used to be flummoxed at how they couldn't win elections just by running against the rich and promising to raise their taxes. The answer was simple: Most Americans wanted to be rich, and thought they might become rich, and didn't want those higher taxes on them (and weren't sure it was fair in any case). If I had to guess, a fairly sizable amount of America considers itself part of the "elite," far more than could actually be the the elite. Matter of fact: I'm pretty sure 90% of the elite aren't elite. But they will answer "guilty" to that charge, if you accuse them. Below, Trump's new ad on the subject. I'm blogging to tell you it doesn't matter. The result is the same. Here's why. If humans were rational creatures, the time and place of Clinton's "overheating" wouldn't matter at all. But when it comes to American psychology, there is no more powerful symbol of terrorism and fear than 9-11 . Hillary's health is a bigger issue and it'll have legs.
Hillary's recent game plan was to fund raise to buy ads to smear Trump, avoid true public appearances because she's so unlikeable, and rely on surrogates and MSM to do the hard campaigning for her. This hasn't been working to plan, which is why she attacked Trump's supporters as deplorable and irredeemable. Idea is to make it unpalatable for the smart set of the GOP to associate themselves with the unwashed masses. Which is what the #neverTrumpers have been doing already. But Hillary has now made herself the center of attention, and not in a good way. Posted by: Zombie Abe Lincoln at September 12, 2016 01:04 PM (r1fLd) 36
The key is the second part: Washington Establishment Republicans agree.
Trump doesn't. And neither do a huge chunk of traditional Democrat voters, from union types to Catholics to, frankly, blacks. If you ask the average black man who is more rayciss, white people or black people, they will tell you (if they're being honest) it's either about even or if anything, black people are more rayciss. So if you could find a candidate who is willing to do what Breitbart said years ago, which is to stand there and say "NO!" when they accuse you, then you could possibly dig deep into the fragile coalition over there on the left. I don't think the 47% comment lost the race for Romney. What lost the race for Romney was a combination of many factors. Yellow Dog Democrats that would vote for a yellow dog as long as it had a "D" after its name, the FSA that doesn't give a damn which Democrat is running as long as they get their promised free shit, and the ever present vote fraud in large urban areas of those key toss-up States that actually decide the election.
And no Scankles "deplorable" comment will not make any difference for the above listed constituencies. Hell those constituencies have voted convicted felons into office before. And they will vote an unindicted felon Scankles into office as well, until possibly now. It will make a difference with people in the middle. I beleive the Romney analogy is apt.
People are tired of this shit. They are also tired of being lectured by Washington types like her. This lady is running on the other guy is terrible. Meanwhile, he's showing he's not so terrible. In fact he's thoughtful. Sometimes bombastic? Sure but purposely and in fact often rightly so. He's railing against things which matter most to people. Her? She's lying and skating away from culpability for everything. No responsibility. Just lies and obfuscation. But that ship has sailed. People are on to that tactic. They also see she is being stage managed and cultivated like a plant. She's not accessible or honest. She states what she believes people want to hear. But fewer people are buying it beyond her hard core supporters. It takes more than that to win. People need to find a reason to vote for you. So far her reasoning is she is not Trump. But, unlike Romney, Trump is willing to take up the fight himself instead of playing the gentleman's game. He will hit Hillary in a way that Romney (and McCain) were unwilling to do against Obama. Hillary used her dictionary and thesaurus.
She used deplorable in the sense that these racist rubes need to be condemned. Her use of irredeemable is even worse, as she meant it in the sense of "beyond redemption, not able to be saved." Hillary grew up as a strict Methodist, and pictures herself as latter day leftist saint, so this is fraught with meaning. The Inner Inner D Party has been using eliminationist rhetoric -- Trump and his followers must be destroyed and never allowed to rise again. Very delenda est. Another example of why Trump is the teflon candidate. Anything bad said about him is more strongly exemplified by his opponents. Hillary and Obama are obnoxious and vulgar. Ace: " The answer was simple: Most Americans wanted to be rich, and thought
they might become rich, and didn't want those higher taxes on them (and weren't sure it was fair in any case)." Spengler: "That's not why Trump crushed the Republican primaries. He won because Americans are tired of an economic elite that ignores them. Americans know the game is rigged against them." Put those two statements together and that's why Trump crushed his primary opponents and drove Republican primary turnout into the political stratosphere. Yeah, Americans usually yawn at open class-warfare tactics, but they will not accept being labeled "irredeemable deplorables" with the selector button firmly in the hands of crooks like Hillary Clinton. "I'm not sure you can win elections just be running against "the elite."
I think you're wrong, Ace, for the following reason: "Elite" in this campaign is not just dog-whistle code for "wealthy," but instead is dog-whistle code for "wealthy douchebag." Yes, every downtrodden American dreams of being rich one day, but no one really dreams of becoming an asshole one day. Trump himself is a billionaire, and thus "the elite," but he doesn't act like the progressive/leftist elite who look down their noses at the hillbillies; instead, Trump presents himself as "one of the guys." So there are two different kinds of elite Trump is "othering": -- Snooty East Cost and Left Coast liberals -- Checked-pant classist country-club Republicans. And the key is that these two groups are on BOTH sides of the old "ideological divide," which is a great ploy on his part. He redrew the dividing line so that left-elites and right-elites are now ON THE SAME SIDE, and "the people" are against him. Another word for this strategy is "populism," but Trump's genius is to update the specifics details of the populist message to this exact moment in history. Other self-styled populists, such as Marxists, remains stuck in 19th-century populism, which no longer resonates with most people. Posted by: zombie at September 12, 2016 01:17 PM (jBuUi) 121

There are two parts of American black society. There are the good, hard-working blacks that are part of American society and then there are the race-baiting scum that are poor because of their own choices and inhabit the inner-city. I have a great book I'm reading by Taleeb Starkes: "The Uncivil War: Blacks vs Ni$$ers: Confronting the Sub-Culture Within the African-American Community." It should be required reading in all schools. page 19: "Speaking to Newsweek magazine (1/8/07 issue), Oprah confessed, 'I became so frustrated with visiting inner-city schools that I just stopped going. The sense that you need to learn just isn't there. If you ask the kids what they want or need, they will say an iPod or some sneakers. In South Africa, they don't ask for money or toys. They ask for uniforms so they can go to school.'" When Oprah gives up on you, your culture probably sucks.... Posted by: Stateless Infidel at September 12, 2016 01:24 PM (+/4UG) 178

Some of the self-identified alt-right are basically parroting exact verbiage from the ANP/Stormfront.
I'm not saying it's most of them or even a significant percentage of them - but it's not an accusation woven from whole cloth. It's not the standard "Republicans are racist!11!1" line that gets used on everyone from Ford to Romney, regardless of any actual evidence/lack thereof. But anyway, we're all equally deplorable now, so the past doesn't matter. Posted by: broseidon king of the brocean at September 12, 2016 01:34 PM (kumBu) I disagree that this is substantively different than prior charges of racism. I accept that your premise that the alt-right can be ideologically similar (or identical in areas) to Stormfront types. But for the charge to be meaningful and relevant, you need to demonstrate what parts of Trump's platform reflect these views. If Trump hated black people, he wouldn't have been going around to black churches and cities saying "the democrat party failed you, what do you have to lose by voting for me?" As far as I can tell, the main issue this cycle that Trump takes a different stance than the average republican candidate is immigration. Trump's ad was masterful. The last image of him and others handing out supplies in Louisiana was golden.
Her 'deplorables' line is worse that Romney's 47% bomb. And Romney's comment was recorded secretly. Hillary allowed for videotape evidence of her whole 'deplorables' shtick. Bad, bad, bad. Pile that on top of her health crisis and watch her polling numbers go down. Did anyone see the video of the 95-year-old black man hoping to meet up with Trump at the Schlafly funeral? That needs to go viral. Talks about knowing Trump years ago in NY and what a stand-up guy he was and 'generous.' Trump is no racist. I'm thinking monthly rotating boycotts of NFL sponsors. Pick four or five NFL sponsors and boycott them for a month or two. Then go boycott another four or five. You've to focus on some businesses that are in competitive industries - it's difficult to boycott, say, Comcast if they're the only reasonable internet bandwidth in your area, but you can easily boycott a beer brand, restaurant chain, tire brand, etc. But in order to affect the behavior of an Anheuser-Busch you'd have to have a fairly substantial body of interest. Posted by: OregonMuse at September 12, 2016 01:44 PM (PFMGK) Bander and I were discussing Hillary's voice yesterday and one of the many, many things that annoys me is that she's never taken diction and elocution lessons or if she has she never puts those lessons into practice. I've mentioned before that I hate my voice. I do. Which is why I've studied diction and elocution and it helps that I do have a decent singing voice and was a member of competition choirs from grade school on and thus know how to shape tones. I modulate my speaking voice pretty much by habit now. You can tell when I get really upset or excited about something because that semi-conscious modulation goes out the window and my voice skies into dog hearing territory and Full Shriek. This is a fixable problem. It's not even that difficult though it takes concentration until it becomes habit. Margaret Thatcher studied and worked on her speaking voice most of her life. That Hillary refuses to do so says that she has contempt for the notion that she must make any efforts at all. Don't get me started on the horrible "advice" being given to young women today that, like, it's, you know? Okay? To upspeak? At work? I'm thinking about the internals more than the national polls. I agree, the national polls will probably stay within the MOE until election day, unless something major happens. But the Hillary camp's internals might eventually get into code red territory. Anyway, like someone said above, this is mostly hypothetical. Hillary would never allow herself to be replaced, and we're less than two months from election day. The only way she gets replaced on the ticket is if she actually drops dead. Moon Over Parador How could that smash-hit movie be overlooked? ----- Moon over Parador is a 1988 romantic comedy film, starring Richard Dreyfuss, Raúl Juliá and Sonia Braga. It is a remake of the 1939 film The Magnificent Fraud, based on the unpublished short story entitled Caviar for His Excellency by Charles G. Booth. The film follows the exploits of film actor Jack Noah (Dreyfuss), who is filming in the small, fictional South American country of Parador when Paradorian President Alfonse Simms, a Pinochet-style dictator, suddenly dies of a heart attack. Not wanting to lose his position in power, the president's right-hand man, Roberto Strausmann (Juliá forces Jack to take the 'role of a lifetime' - that of the dead president, as the two men look so much alike. Jack accepts, eventually winning over the people and even the dead president's mistress, Madonna (Braga). However, when paradise proves to be too boring, Jack needs to find a way to get out while keeping Roberto out of the loop. Trump isn't alt-right. He likes them and occasionally panders to them because they were among his earliest supporters, and when you worship Trump he's nice back. Plus, as a lifelong NY Dem, Trump is unfamiliar with actual Conservative thought (as we see on abortion, etc.) and probably thinks the alt-right is much closer to the mainstream of Conservative thought then it is.
Again, however, Trump himself is not alt-right. Posted by: person(a non grata) at September 12, 2016 01:49 PM (OEi9w) this talk of alt-right is ridiculous used to be called "the fringe" both parties have it The left have plenty of racists, bigots, etc, and haters - see BLM, for example. On the one hand, I find it amusing that the left, et al, are getting such a case of the vapors to find that their stereotype of R voters has a grain of truth to it. On the other hand, it annoys me that there's no push-back on this deplorables thing in the sense that everyone seems to accept that it's more or less true but argues about what it means. Should people accept the racists and bigots as part of the coalition? Don't pander to them, maybe, but don't act like they don't exist either . . . because the Left has an even bigger basket of deplorables and no one blinks. Communists, anarchists, terrorist sympathizers, anti-human environmental types, not to mention misogynists (Clinton, Kennedy, etc), racists, homophobes and what have you. Let them yell about the unsavory types on the Right, but yell even louder about theirs. No political coalition can live up to the standard they are trying to impose; don't accept it. Make them follow their own rules.

"I accept that your premise that the alt-right can be ideologically similar (or identical in areas) to Stormfront types. But for the charge to be meaningful and relevant, you need to demonstrate what parts of Trump's platform reflect these views. If Trump hated black people, he wouldn't have been going around to black churches and cities saying "the democrat party failed you, what do you have to lose by voting for me?"
As far as I can tell, the main issue this cycle that Trump takes a different stance than the average republican candidate is immigration. And it does not follow that wanting our immigration laws to be enforced and probably tightened makes one a racist. >> I'm sick of the "alt-right" term that no one but us
>> talks about. But my two-cents is that Breitbart liked >> and used the term for totally different reasons than >> Duke or the Stormcunt people did. It's an elusive, >> elastic term like "Tea Party." The problem is that like most things there's a spectrum. If you go off and read, say, Vox Day, you (well, I) agree with a bunch of what he says, until he tries to equate Enlightenment Western Liberalism with White People (and Especially White People Who Ain't Jews). I would be the last person in the world to argue that all cultures are equal. But I would also be the last person in the world to argue that culture can not be assimilated. The British Empire did a good job on the Hong Kong Chinese, which their current Chinese overlords are trying (with some success) to unwind with corrupt carrot and fascist stick. Some traditional Christian faiths are far more aggressively embraced in former colonies than they are in the 'post-Christian' nation-states that birthed them. A mid eighteenth-century Vox Day would have decried the Irish, the Italians, the Greeks and other peripheral Europeans, as well as the Calvinist Scandis and probably some of the beer-guzzling Germans who were just scrabbling around in a bunch of warring little principalities with insufficient discipline to create a nation, as insufficiently WASP to be truly 'white'. It takes time and a certain amount of social pressure to assimilate a culture, you have to have a culture worth embracing, and you have to be starting with raw material capable of that embrace. It may well be that when the history books are written (in Chinese, or in Arabic, or whatever) the Wars of the Twentieth Century marked the beginning of the end for the Enlightenment West, the point at which cultural certainty was exhausted and replaced by the desire for material comfort at all cost. This is the main reason that I don't believe in Global Warming (along with the fact that it's biggest supporter is also the biggest carbon polluter in the world). For an audience of 200-300 it is imperative, not to get louder necessarily, but to bounce the voice off the diaphragm so the voice resonates and projects to the furthest reaches of the room. "How do you think they would go about delenda'ing us? Serious question..."
More of what we got with Obama, and then some. In schools and workplaces, politically incorrect thought will be punished. Look for the enforcers to look at what you do privately. Red states will get punished even more with less funding and more arbitrary regulatory enforcement. If your red state governor or DC representative is out of line, you'll get punished. Better a Basket of Deplorables than a Casket of a Demplorable Candidate

I just read the Politifact donation-in-kind on this quote. They wanted you to read it in context . They just thought you should ignore the part about sorting people into two bins or bulk groups.
Then down below, they had an article certified as True, that Donald Trump has always been opposed to Ssm, and as proof they showed clips of Trump saying they should have done it at the state level. Posted by: Axeman at September 12, 2016 05:09 PM (Mq9BH) 709
>> Most Americans wanted to be rich, and thought they might become rich . . .
Yes. And growing up, I don't remember looking out the window from the back seat of the station wagon, thinking, 'those rich people owe me,' as we passed fine homes. I do remember, though, learning it was impolitic to ask someone how much they made or what something cost. Posted by: Sojourner at September 12, 2016 09:34 PM (HqvUx) 710
Being rich is not the same as being elite. Most Americans want to be rich but they don't aspire to being snobs. The entire Trump campaign can be summed up by watching Caddyshack where the vulgar rich guy shows up the rich snobs
