Hot News From the New York Times: Rubio's Gotten Four Traffic Tickets (But His Wife Got 13!)
Undisclosed: Information Came from David Brock's Pro-Hillary PAC American Bridge
Update: NYT Denies, to Politico

Here's the oppo dump in the New York Times, which I don't suggest you read; I just want you to know that this is real. This happened.

Marco Rubio has had four traffic tickets, "over the years," as the New York Times says, which is... not so many. So the New York Times figures it can just add in his tally with his wife's.

Here's how they headline that:

Marco Rubio and His Wife Cited 17 Times for Traffic Infractions

This is not a joke. They really did that. Marco Rubio had four measly tickets "over the years" so they just added that to his wife's 13 to come up with a combined 17 traffic tickets between them.

Here's what they don't report: This silly, absurd story (and probably that ridiculous headline, too) was delivered to them hot from David Brock's oppo files and Free Beacon has the proof, and the New York Times "reporters" serving Courtier David won't comment on whether or not the story was given to them by a Brock.

SUV? Ed Morrissey notes the NYT claiming that Mrs. Rubio sideswiped another driver in an "SUV."

That SUV was the Ford F150 -- which is a truck. Period. Not an SUV.

But it seems like the NYT is trying to Otherize the Rubios.

Incidentally, a reporter on the story just tweeted that he's being told that traffic classes are voluntary -- despite his claim in the story that Rubio missed a driving class and was cited for it or ordered back to it or something.

So he now seems to be hedging on a central factual claim.

Maybe he should run this by David Brock again to see what he thinks.

Update: The New York Time doesn't respond to the Free Beacon's request for comment -- instead, they go to liberal Dylan Byers at liberal as shit Politico.

Just like ABCNews did with the WFB Stephanopolous scoop.

The New York Times denies they got the story from American Bridge -- they're claiming they came upon this on their own. They just happened to be looking at the records at the same time American Bridge was.

I'm not going to bother reading such an obvious piece of shit story, but regarding the traffic school.....when I lived in Florida (2007-2011) I got a few tickets. Traffic school can be mandatory, or it can be voluntary. If you get a ticket, you can opt to take the traffic school because it will lower your fine and reduce the points incurred by the violation.

And four tickets since 1997? Is that supposed to shock anyone? I lived in Florida for four years and got three speeding tickets, and I don't even drive that fast. If you're going back to 1997, I believe I've gotten 5 or 6 tickets. Big fucking deal.

During 2004 Senate floor debate:
"I believe that marriage is not just a bond but a sacred bond between a man and a woman," Clinton said. "I have had occasion in my life to defend marriage, to stand up for marriage, to believe in the hard work and challenge of marriage. So I take umbrage at anyone who might suggest that those of us who worry about amending the Constitution are less committed to the sanctity of marriage, or to the fundamental bedrock principle that exists between a man and a woman, going back into the mists of history as one of the founding, foundational institutions of history and humanity and civilization, and that its primary, principal role during those millennia has been the raising and socializing of children for the society into which they are to become adults."

His name is Smith, he's from Michigan, hold everything else constant-a presidential bid would be considered as absurd as would Obama's in 2008 (in a serious country).

With luck there will be a paroxysm of media distortion against Rubio, causing him damage and forcing some kind of (futile but dramatic) response, causing collateral damage to both. That would be in the national interest. Though prettymuch academic, like most everything, it would at least be amusing.

There's the rub. You simply have to fight back against the media slime, or you are telling the base in no uncertain terms that you're not a serious candidate.

They're low-hanging fruit. What's the worst they can do, lie about you? They do that already.

If you won't fight the media, why on earth would I think you'll fight the bastards in DC?

Posted by: Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing at June 05, 2015 01:05 PM (zF6Iw)

239 What infuriated me about the media this week wasn't the Slimes being the Slimes, doing what the Slimes will do.

It was the Boston Herald, which is supposed to be the right-wing news source in Boston, cranking out a piece on the knife-wielding muzztard and would-be decapitator who got ventilated by the Boston cops.

The Herald piece said,

"[The muzztard's brother] said his brother's last words were, 'I can't breathe.' Those were the same words Eric Garner of Staten Island, N.Y., said last year before he died from a chokehold put on him by police."

Oh, for crying out loud.

It is *alleged by some* that Garner died from a police chokehold. It is *purported* that this happened. It is at this point unproven.

There is a substantial amount of evidence to suggest that Garner instead died from being an obese asthmatic diabetic with severe heart problems who made a bad decision to exert himself physically while resisting arrest.

And practitioners of martial arts who use chokeholds regularly, most notably several of the Gracies, have opined that from what they can see from the video, the cop holding Garner from behind wasn't choking Garner at all, merely restraining him by the head and neck.

But here we have the Herald -- again supposedly the right-wing news in Baahston -- implicitly presenting as settled fact that cops choked Garner to death.

American journalism really is irremediably ruined as a profession. One big clown circus from top to bottom.

253 How do traffic tickets stack up against formally proposing that massive violation of laws against forgery of official US travel documents be, you know, winked at - that is, if you're already in illegal status by your very presence in the US. That was among the gems in the jaw-droppingly idiotic and offensive nonsense Rubio signed up for with the loathsome dumbshit Schumer.

Think it was 10. That would be the number of forgeries of official US documents that would be "amnestied" (literally and specifically) if you were already in violation of other laws (the ones that aren't really laws depending on your skin color and native language, the immigration "laws") under the hilariously bad Rubio proposal.

10,000 years ago, in the country called the US, such forgeries were (logically) pursued and policed very seriously, being a major concern for that exotic little thing called national security. Major intel and law enforcement efforts were routinely applied to combatting such things, for obvious reasons. But look he's got a compelling life-story (for LIVs) and his last name and FL.

If you detect an ID theft for Fake ID.... here is your court date, understand that we will NOT pursue you over International boundaries, but will pursue you within the United States.

And ID theft, if convicted, is up to X years in Jail, with a fine of X under State Law.

318 BB, nice try, but I fear you are wrong (about the feds' options).

Recall the unelected ruling branch, the judiciary. Prop 187 was struck down. A state voting to, get this, deny public assistance to people in the country illegally. A concept utterly beyond reproach in a serious country. Yet somehow, you see, this here constitution actually means that people here illegally must be given things for free.

It would hardly warm upthe "intellectual" capacities of a typical "elite" judicial staffer to barf up some ludicrous rationale for voiding all of your pesky little attempts at states enforcing states' laws.

Pre-emption. The most hilarious - and odious, and pernicious - bad-faith stunt in the impressive and growing record of the US judiciary. Magic weapon. Nukes all state laws regarding illegal immigrants with the (poorly worded, substantively baseless, usually inappropriately tendentious) decree of a federal judge.

Bigby's Cellphone Finger, it's the drivers. The Prius just attracts a certain type of driver and most of that type are bad in one way or another.

When they first came out you had to deal with hyper-milers. They were making a game of how many MPG they could get. That meant coasting up to red lights from a long way back and driving UNDER the speed limit.
Now you have the smug types and obliviots for the most part.

A lot of Obama's 2012 campaign was conducted in microtargeted narrow venues aimed at small groups. This required sophisticated computer software and an impressively up to date database. The Republicans will not use software written by the same guy (he is a businessman just looking to make money) because it uses volunteers and it would break the rice bowl of the Republican Party consultants like Steve Schmidt who did such a great job for McCain and Romney.

Part of the Obama campaign was aimed at figuring out who would vote for him if they went to the polls and who was going to the polls and could be convinced to vote for him. There were also people who would never vote for Obama but who could be convinced to stay home if they got the right message.

If you did not fall into any of those categories, there is a good chance that the Obama campaign did not waste any of their money trying to get messages to you.

368 Hybrid and electric only cars make sense for a short term commuter car. Something you drive to and from work in the city, maybe a single errand on the side. But they cost so much its just not worth buying one. The expense of a single purchase, even with the pointless, unconstitutional federal subsidy, is more than the savings in gas prices. Go buy a little diesel powered compact, it gets a zillion miles a gallon and costs a third as much or less. And it won't require you to pay half the car's price to replace the batteries every 8 years.

372 A lot of Obama's 2012 campaign was conducted in microtargeted narrow venues aimed at small groups. This required sophisticated computer software and an impressively up to date database.

Yeah, they were all super tech savy and wonderful but... they didn't target new voters. They targeted voters that already were leaning Obama. They didn't reach out, they didn't try to win over anyone. They just got their base activated, and all those mangy hippies and welfare queens to get out and vote when they normally would stay home. 380 See, Republicans don't have a big base of people who largely sit out elections out of sloth and inattention. Democrats do. Remember when Obama Girl from 2008 didn't vote in the primary because she was partying?

The big push on the left now is to get that base activated and voting, not to win new voters. They figure immigration and stupid republicans sending their kids to public schools will do that. They don't even need to try to win hearts and minds.

385 "A lot of Obama's 2012 campaign was conducted in microtargeted narrow venues aimed at small groups. This required sophisticated computer software and an impressively up to date database."

Actually, what it required was having Google and Facebook open up their big-data warehouses to Obama For America, and detailing squads of top engineers to go work directly with their counterparts at OFA to knit it all together. Eric Schmidt of Google was personally right there in Obama HQ on Election Day.

An absolutely textbook example of an unreported in-kind campaign contribution. Illegal as all get out.

And of course the absolutely textbook examples of tax evasion by Google and Facebook's top brass go discreetly unobserved by the Obama administration. It's the Chicago way.

They also did not spend much money or effort in states like Texas, California or Massachusetts where the outcome is already known ahead of time. They spent their money in the states where the outcome was in doubt and they took those states. Funny how that works. They won the election by going after votes in the states where they needed them and they got enough votes to win. Republicans don't campaign that way because the consultants don't make enough money that way and the consultants get paid win or lose. You know, the Washington Generals usually retire with a fat bank account.

389 It's funny about twitter because it gives a glimpse into who someone might listen to or ascribe with similar politics. It's not the end-all-be-all, but through looking at the list of twitter feeds people follows is interesting. The NYT researcher, Kitty Bennett, follows both Clinton feeds (and Axelrod), however not a single other Republican (current or former) with the exception of Kelly Ayote. Because it's almost 700 on the list, I cannot say that's 100% accurate, but it's probably not far off.

Traffic class is voluntary. The advantage is that if you pass the class, they won't put the points on your license. You're still liable for the ticket, unless the judge decides to waive that. It should also help with the insurance the next time it is up for renewal.
