Mayor McSilkytouch's Chief of Staff is Bogusly Claiming Attorney-Client Privilege To Avoid Turning Over Notes, It Is Alleged, About Sexual Harassment

Turns out San Diego did provide an online sexual harassment lesson; Mayor McSquickfinger just didn't bother.

As you may already know, the city attorney Jerry Goldsmith has forbidden female members of the media from meeting alone with Filner. This is to avoid another harassment and another mulcting of the city's coffers.

Melissa Harris-Perry, last seen modeling feminine hygiene jewelry, embarrasses herself anew by asking if this policy, rather than Mayor Feel U Up, is discriminatory against women.

And how is the LA Times covering this? With their typical level of excellence.

Now, in fairness, there is a much-smaller subhed:

Long starved of power, many San Diego liberals were willing to overlook Filner's reputation. That may turn out to be a colossal miscalculation.

The article does imply that Filner is a Democrat, chiefly on the second page (after the jump), but strangely, in an article about Republicans' taking advantage of the situation, they can never quite bite the bullet and explicitly identify Filner as a Democrat.

Kind of like the euphemism "the n-word." It's okay to allude to it, but incredibly rude to outright say it.

Until page 2, Filner is just the Republicans' best bud.

And strangely, in an article that touches ever-so-lightly on liberals' willingness to look the other way, they never quite get 'round to reporting the fact that Democratic assemblywoman Lori Saldana warned the party about this two years ago, and not only did they do nothing, but they threatened her into supporting Filner.

I'm a little torn on this one.

A-Rod deserves the lifetime ban for trying to intentionally subvert the MLB investigations, but the Yankees also overpaid this asshole on his new contract despite knowing this was out there.

I think the perfect solution may be to let A-Hole come back from his "rehab assignment" in the minors, play one game, then get a lifetime ban, as that puts him out of baseball while also sticking the Yankees with paying off the remainder of A-Hole's contract.

I've said for years that Gary's major mistake was trying to deny the affair in the first place. If the man had simply held up one of her modeling photos, looked straight into the camera and said "Damn straight! She's a Vogue Model! You would have if you could TOO!" He'd have had every MALE and/or LESBIAN vote available as well as some LIV females from his own party anyway. I mean this was no Fugly Monica or Leathers IYKWIM.

Bloom County actually had one of the characters (Milo, I think) suggest that this was Hart's long-plan regarding the whole fiasco. Of course, the details ended with the revelation that Hart was really an alien and some night after his election to the Presidency, he and his fellow aliens would suck out everyones' brains.

You think the NFL concussion lawsuits are a headache (yeah I said that on purpose), allowing sports franchises to allow PEDs would result in a future class action suit that blows the concussion suit out of the water.

To go all Wikilawyer: Exaction refers not only to extortion or the unlawful demanding and obtaining of something through force, but additionally, in its formal definition, means the infliction of something such as pain and suffering or making somebody endure something unpleasant.
Extortion is one of the predicates for a RICO prosecution.

You know what they're trying to do? They're trying to imply that he's a Republican, and that Republicans approve of what he did.
The Press's big problem now is that a bunch of Democratic scandals are hitting the fan right now, and they have to figure out some way to blame the Republicans for it and imply that it really is the Republican's fault.

I am not going to read HER rationale - I don't care what it is and it's probably stupid - but imho requiring female journalists to have chaperones DOES put the burden on the wrong people and potentially marginalize and embarrass them.

Filner is the one with the problem. Filner is the one who is out of control. HE SHOULD BE ACCOMPANIED BY A MINDER AT ALL TIMES.

A woman journalist or whoever shouldn't have to arrange to have someone protect her. She shouldn't have to be the one who is "special." The women are not the problem. ONE PARTICULAR MAN IS.

I don't know if you'll see the difference, but there is a big difference. One way treats the women like children who need protecting. The other treats the ONE MAN WITH A PROBLEM like the problem that he is.

Yes, I feel strongly about this having gone through a really mishandled harassment case years back.
