Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Breitbart's CPAC Speech...from just three weeks ago. This is horrible."Right now, my twitter feed is already calling me a big fat homosexual. "Hello Children at home. No, your dad's not gay. That's just how the left rolls." "Because they've held over our heads, with contempt, the false narrative of their innate tolerance. The least intolerant people you'll ever meet, I know it, I live it every day, and I retweet it [I republish their hateful remarks so they have a wider audience] to remind them I know exactly who they are." This guy collects some of the hateful dance-on-your-grave tweets from the left. I was just making the point on Twitter that even in death, especially in death, the left makes Andrew Breitbart's case for him. They never seemed to understand that while the right is his audience, the left itself is his most potent ally -- they prove everything he says with each hateful remark, each "ur a fag why don't you get AIDS and die" tweet. The left makes all of his arguments for him. All Breitbart had to do was add two letters: "RT" [re-tweet]. The left had a chance to prove Andrew Breitbart wrong today. Instead, they proved him right. Even in death, Andrew Breitbart makes the stupid hate-bag puppets dance for his amusement, and for ours. I thought at first his death was a punking. In a way, it is. He continues punking the left into exposing exactly what it is. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

I'm fucking heart broken over this. Obviously my thoughts are with his family and children, but his loss to the movement cannot be overstated. This man was our future when it come to the media. I don't see where we go from here without him. I know people are saying they will pick up the sword or carry the torch, but let's face it, they're all lesser lights. History is filled with example of great men of ability. However, they are few and far between. Andrew was probably the best we had to offer in this area and he's gone. He was the only conservative taking the media on at their own game. He was the owner of one of the few conservative outlets that was actually doing investigative journalism. Who broke the ACORN scandal, the Pigford Scandal, and was probably the main catalyst behind the Weiner scandal. I'm lost. Where do we go from here? Brietbart was the anti-Obama. Obama talks about bringing a gun to a fight, Brietbart brought a bazooka and blew up every liberal in his path. Obama uses passive-aggressiveness to snark his way through life, Brietbart is just plain old aggressive. Obama defined his worldview sipping lattes inside the ivy walls, Brietbart defined his fighting on the streets for truth. Obama has the perfectly creased pants to impress the liberatti, Brietbart gives them the bird.

But Breitbart was so important RIGHT NOW. He was a unifier -- one of the few we still have in the movement with unquestionable credibility to bring everyone on board -- and the greatest conservative media maven we've seen in the past forty years. (Yes, better than Drudge -- Drudge is great but he never had the same sort of all-encompassing ambition that Breitbart had. Drudge just likes to do his thing and doesn't see any need to change it. That's the genius of Drudge: same damn website for 15 years running.) It literally feels like I've had one of my vital organs removed. A lung. It hurts. Twitter is almost intolerable now, even for a thick skinned Internet veteran like myself. For the left, despicable killers, rapists and murders like Ted Kennedy, Che Guevara, and Roman Polanski are to be celebrated unconditionally. Did he have a heatlh problem? WHY didn't he take better care of himself? I mean, what happened? I can't make sense of this; he was walking and collapsed, at 43?!?. He had a family, a country that needed him. He was an ex-leftie, he was loud, he wasn't going to be silenced. How do you replace someone that dynamic, that powerful? Who had the guts to try and dig into Obama? Not Congress, with all their power of subpoena and might of the Constitution on their side to stop Obama's usurpation of Congressional power and oversight. No, it was Breitbart, who went digging with the meagre tools of the civilian and an amazing amount of determination. Above Drudge and others I respected him. Now he's gone. And when one of those people dies, probably because he humiliated me during Weinergate, I must include a caveat in his eulogy.

I always wanted to buy Andrew Breitbart a beer. I'm not usually emotional about the passing of people whom I don't know on a personal level, but Breitbart's death really has me down today. The world needs more truth tellers and Andrew Breitbart was second to none when it came to telling it like it is.

I met him once last year. (during the book tour, I think it was April or May). As he was signing my book, I told him I was one of the regulars over at AoSHQ. He perked up immediately and said he loved this place. He asked me who I posted as. I was a little reluctant to say, because...well, you know, Jeff B. and all. In fact, I figured he might not even know who I was, which would be even worse. He totally did. He literally laughed out loud when I told him, and said that he thought I was great, that I totally needed to keep banging away from my end of things, and not to worry about the abuse. "Badge of honor" he said. Said it just like that. Drawn out words, no verb: "BADGE. OF. HONOR" as he pounded my book for emphasis. I dunno, maybe he was just being nice and he thought I was a putz. this reminds me, of that while i respect people like Ross Douthat for making the intellectual case for full-spectrum conservatism in major media venues, at some point the intellectual positioning is useless. at best you end up with grudging liberal "respect," i.e. "well this guy argues well, even though deep down he's pure evil like every conservative" at worst you end up with a "moderate" (= no principles whatsoever) like David Brooks, who's smart but worthless to both the Right he's ostensibly in agreement with and the Left who don't care about his centrist posturing anyway.
you need your Douthats _and_ your Breitbarts i guess is what i'm saying. Jonah Goldberg made this point with Beck before, even though i think there are better examples. Posted by: Fire with Fire at March 01, 2012 01:10 PM (60GaT) 117

So after an ugly messy primary and Roman Colosseum style debates (which for some reason our side used to agree to).. right now is our lowest point. Its all uphill from here but at least we wont be fighting each other in the mudpits. Now we choose a leader and take the hill joined in the cause of freedom and a strong independent America.
Freedom is not the natural state of man and each generation born into it, have a fight for extra innings. Reagan defeated the old left. Breitbart showed us over and over and over how to defeat the new left without becoming monsters ourselves.... for that I will honor his memory. I just saw the news a little while ago about Breitbart. My eyes teared up and it took me a little while to get a grip. Andrew was truly an inspiration to me. I live in a liberal area in Iowa, and after watching Breitbart over the last couple of years, I decided to no longer restrain myself in ridiculing the Left, even when in the company of my Lefty friends. They can accept it or leave. We can all carry a part of the torch that Andrew wielded by himself. That can be his legacy. A strengthened, proud, vocal, confrontational, aggressive, and united Right. We all must carry a spark of Breitbartwhile fighting forour cause. Posted by: Marmo at March 01, 2012 01:28 PM (InrkQ) 183
If you were conservative, Andrew Breitbart had it all. Tough, unrelenting, brave and charismatic. He was able to speak up loudly at what we all saw coming from the left, to expose their corruption and scummery. He was a true maverick and was so desperately needed. People like him....conservatives like him, do not come along very often. I'm still in disbelief at his passing. This is a terrible, terrible day.

No one in media seemed to be more able and willing to take on the MFM and the totalitarian demagoguery of the Left.
That made it all the more meaningful (and yeah, pretty funny) that he appraised the comments here as among those most worth his time. As I posted earlier there is now a gaping void where AB stood. Several comments have borrowed "we are Breitbart" from Spartacus. If there is even sliver of truth to that then we can allow for our sorrow without being staggered. There can't be any excuses going forward as the vicious trolling today has highlighted, this shit has just started getting real. Everything that we hold precious is at stake and the takers are pounding on the door. Breitbart got that and willingly and cheerfully fought the good fight. Hopefully his light will be remembered as the pilot. Posted by: ontherocks at March 01, 2012 01:36 PM (ZJCDy) 209

Andrew knew what our Founders knew when they had to fight a losing war against the great British empire at the height of their power.... you don't get to march in nice orderly lines and have tea breaks.. you have to get down in the mud and go hand to hand.. never surrender an inch of ground no matter the look of it. "Breitbart reduced ACORN to rubble."
Actually, they've reformed under different flags and have their defacto extortion and vote fraud apparatus pretty much operating as usual again. ACORN isn't an organization you can just bust up like the old ATT and expect it to stay busted up. Its more like organized crime, where if you pop one boss, another steps up to fill his shoes. Because President Obama was black, and because Breitbart believed in using every and any weapon at hand, Breitbart’s politics did inevitably become racially coded. Breitbart’s memory will always be linked to his defamation of Shirley Sherrod and his attempt to make a national scandal out of back payments to black farmers: the story he always called “Pigford” with self-conscious resonance. Yet it is wrong to see Breitbart as racially motivated. Had Breitbart decided he hated a politician whose ancestors came over on the Mayflower, Breitbart would have been just as delighted to attack that politicians with a different set of codes. The attack was everything, the details nothing. This indifference to detail suffused all of Breitbart’s work, and may indeed be his most important and lasting legacy. Breitbart sometimes got stories right (Anthony Weiner). More often he got them wrong (Sherrod). He did not much care either way. Just as all is fair in a shooting war, so manipulation and deception are legitimate tools in a culture war. Breitbart used those tools without qualm or regret, and he inspired a cohort of young conservative journalists to do likewise. In time, Andrew Breitbart might have aged into greater self-control and a higher concept of public service. Premature death deprived him of the chance at redemption often sought and sometimes found by people who have done wrong in their lives and work. And this is where it becomes difficult to honor the Roman injunction to speak no ill of the dead. It’s difficult for me to assess Breitbart’s impact upon American media and American politics as anything other than poisonous. When one of the leading media figures of the day achieves his success by his giddy disdain for truth and fairness—when one of our leading political figures offers to his admirers a politics inflamed by rage and devoid of ideas—how to withhold a profoundly negative judgment on his life and career? Andrew made me hope for the GOP.
For years I sat in frustration, feeling like I was part of the losing side. The GOP establishment seemed more interested in looking like they weren't bad people as opposed to doing the right thing and vocalising why it was correct. It was too difficult, too fraught with peril, I guess. We were a cadre of milquetoasts, with our Jello-spined leaders happily leading the retreat, thinking somehow in the arena their weakness was a win. They never thought WHY we won when we won. We won with people like Ronald Reagan, who first and foremost wasn't an apologist; who called the USSR out when academics and the intelligensia of the US were comfortable with their existence. We won when we had a bold plan, the Contract with America, that wasn't Lib Lite (tm), but real ideas for reform that were championed loudly and clearly. Andrew knew this and he lived it in every tweet, every speech, every interview. He didn't let the left circle the wagons without pelting them with arrows and Molotovs; he didn't back down from enemies but faced them, energised by the fight, by being engaged. He saw all the ways we were weak and he tried to remedy them. He dragged us kicking and screaming into a new media world for the Republican/Libertarian cause and he did it as your mom make you take Cod Liver Oil for your own good. He dug where no man has dug before and he pushed like no one on the right had pushed in a long time and the left despises him for that. They are soft, and cushioned by airbags and marshmallows and Andrew would puncture their defences and slice through their shields and expose theblack emptiness of the liberal ideology, and he relished every thrust, parry and swipe. How could someone be so happy in the midst of such a great battle for the future of America, for her very soul perhaps? How could he find so much energy year after year, even while he saw thousands of tweets wishing him death, illness and all bad manner of things? Because he knows we are right; that living in freedom and fighting to preserve it is the highest calling one can have and I think he felt blessed to be a part of it, to be the man in the arena, covered in blood, yelling, "Is this all you've got?" God he will be missed. Let's not forget this; lets not allow ourselves to put this grief and dismay on a shelf and allow it to atrophy, to dessicate. He never would; he would rekindle the fight in his heart day after day, fight after fight. Every day after to-day should be for Andrew. Posted by: Linlithgow at March 01, 2012 02:15 PM (Gim9y) 268

Like many of you this morning, the kick in cooter I felt after reading of Andrew's demise is beyond articulating with mere words. I forced myself to go andread some of the left's hate this morning. Nothing like showing your true colors lefties, well done. I think Andrew would want conservatives to make this a teachable moment. Let us find all those vile, disgusting, hate filled things our side said about Gabby Giffords when she was shot. Oh, that's right, there were none. She was Debbie ToiletWaterHair-Skankhername's best friend, but nobody, and I mean NOBODY, defended the lunatic who shot her.True, we did heap it on the MFM for their hypocrisy when they tried to pin it on the tea party, but that was well deserved. Let us remember to contrast the way we reacted to a near tragedy to one of theirs; to the ugliness we have already started to see today. Why don't we do that next time they (the deciders)start lecturing us on the need for civility. I for one, am done trying to reason with these hate filled people. Let us start with the completion of ABO this Novemberto honor our fallen friend. One last thing. I'm guessing Ace probably knew the guy, so my condelences for your loss too buddy. Breitbart’s loss is a devastating blow to our side. Not only did he have the drive and balls to call out the left, he recognized that the key was to ridicule the MSM to the point that that they would be forced to tell the truth. He was a visionary, as evidenced by his central role in establishing the Huffington Post. Breitbart knew where the media was headed and was in the forefront of laying out the prototype of how people would be getting their information in the post-newspaper world. In that same vein, he also recognized what made a popular political opinion website – the commenters. Breitbart saw that without a diverse, informed, witty and entertaining group of people reading and contributing, political bloggers might just as well put their thought down on paper and pin them to the basement wall. Only a vibrant community can survive and grow, and he saw the intrinsic value in that. It’s no wonder he wanted to tap this resource at AoSHQ. Fighting for a cause is noble, but having the ability to turn that fight into a successful business model is brilliance. We can’t comprehend the extent of what we lost today. Frum's note: surreal. The right fights with one hand tied behind its back, forever worrying about breaking the "rules".In the meantimethe left has no compunction about bringing a knife - or a gun if that's what will carry the day - to any fight. Never heard Frum say a word about that.
We have ONE guy who understood that sometimes in a fight you really would rather not even have to engage in, you have to be willing to strike the first blow and make it count. And somehow HE is the one deserving of a snotty writeup by Frum when he dies young and leaves a family behind. Like someone said, "Just...wow." Posted by: RM at March 01, 2012 03:49 PM (TRsME) 312
This video needs to be shown after every primary and often before this election. Andrew was clearly ABO 2012. Please, folks, carry on this fight and vote against Obama, no matter which GOP buffoon is elected. And vote a straight GOP ticket to start a majority in Congress.
I loved this guy as much as I love anyone I see on the TV. I laughed hysterically when he took over the Weiner press conference. I stood up and cheered over his CPAC speech this year. No single person's death from TV has impacted me like this since the death of Tony Snow. All I can simply say is two words: Fight on. Do it for our country. He showed many the way to do it, he wrote the playbook. I have to believe, as I am an optimist in any fight, that he showed others what he had and when to show it. And, Ace: thanks for all you do. Many days and nights I would sit, watch and read while Andrew would retweet vicious attacks on him by haters. And not just those who do not agree with our politics but many times dangerous and threatening attacks. While I'll stop short of any conspiracy theory, I know how I felt just reading what they'd spew and can't help but wonder if the high emotion and level of stress wasn't a contributing factor. He will be greatly missed. I believe it is time for more of us to step up to the plate to fill the void in our quest to save our Nation. God Bless Andrew and all who fight each day to preserve our freedom.
