I don't think this was a mix up. The African-America community in SC was told that they had to vote for the black candidate and that it would be historic last election. Why wouldn't that be true in this election? Experience didn't matter, it was the historicalness of the man, the color, and that he was a democrat. So why not Green? SC has almost triple the percentage of African Americans than the national average. So they could easily carry the ticket if that's who they wanted. It's who they wanted.

Why are they so surprised that SC blacks voted for the black guy? Did the SC Dem machine think they were in complete control of them? The other question is- why do they care? The reason he won, despite an almost complete lack of campaigning or name recognition, is that it was an unimportant race.

My personal theory is that so many Democrat voters are trained to just vote straight party ticket (which I believe they still do in SC)that when they actually have to mark names there is no telling how they'll chose. Like the lady said, just the first name on the ballotor it could beone that sounds familiar, etc.

The Democrats are desperately trying to find a way to delegitimatize the election. This is very important. Just because they don't like the results, doesn't mean they get to change the outcome. The man was elected. He's their candidate. I haven't had a single person I voted for in the primary run in the general since Reagan. That doesn't mean that I get do-overs because I don't like the candidate. Bush, Dole, Bush, and McCain spring to mind. Greene won the election.

get his name on the ballot, then do nothing but drink beer until the
primary is over.
My theory is that it was a plant and a dirty trick by the Dems. They knew they had virtually no chance to beat DeMint. The were pushing Vic Rawls from Charleston and figured everyone would go right along with that.
So they give this guy the money to file and telly him to run. The idea being that after Rawls won the actual campaign would get underway. In late Oct they would drag this guy out and accuse the Republicans of trying to throw the election and violations of campaign finance rules. Hopefully this would be enough to temporarily throw a wrench in DeMint's capaign.
The scheme back-fired and the nobody won. The Dem party had started believing their own rhetoric and forgot that blacks will vote for blacks over whites 99.9% of the time.
The Rawls campaign has until Monday at noon to file the protest. What's more the protest has to be based on something other than gossip and innuendo. So far that's all they have unless they admit to the violations themselves.

The old "I've been advised by my attorney not to comment on the case" line is accepted by the media all the time. Were it a favored Dem, a "no comment" answer would've been allowed to pass.

The Nueces massacre was a violent confrontation between Confederate soldiers and German Texans [1] on August 10, 1862 in Kinney County, Texas. Many Germans in Central Texas were born in a German state. They tended to support the Union and had few slaves. Gillespie and other central Hill Country counties had voted against secession.
With a need for more soldiers, the Confederacy established a draft. The Germans did not want to fight against the Union and objected to being drafted. Buildup to this event began in the spring of 1862 with the initiation of a Confederate conscription for Texans, to which many German Texans voiced their objection.[2]. In Texas the most adamant supporters of the Union were Tejanos and the German Texans both from Central Texas [3] and the counties of the Texas Hill Country [4]: Gillespie[5], Kerr, Kendall, Medina, and Bexar[6].
As word spread of these counties' objections, Confederate authorities declared central Texas to be under martial law.[7]. Many German Texans of both regions decided to go to Mexico to avoid being drafted. By August, a party of 61 German Texans from the Hill Country counties, who were fleeing to Mexico, was overtaken by the Texas Confederate cavalrymen on the Nueces River. Shots were fired and as a result 34 German Texans were killed, with some being executed after being taken prisoner.[8]. The Germans from Central Texas were fortunate to avoid such violence. In my favorite Don Lemon interview, he was interviewing this African reporter on how Obama was being treated in Africa and tried to get her to say how it was different than they treated Bush. She pointed out that actually Bush was treated better and had done a lot for Africa. Lemon looked like he had bitten into a lemon.
