Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Joe the Plumber About to Be "Vetted" by the Lefty Smear MerchantsJoe the Plumber [Byron York] I don't know anything about Joe Wurzelbacher, but I just have one bit of advice. If you have anything in your past that you're not proud of — a messy divorce, a DUI, an unpaid bill, an indiscreet comment, whatever — be prepared for it to become public knowledge. The lefty blogosphere, along with allies in the press, will see to that. And not just the lefty blogosphere, my tipster ads. He got "uppity." He's a middle class tradesman who dared to express a political opinion disfavorable to the hard left. Obviously, they will have to destroy him -- how can they save him if they do not destroy him? Some people just don't know what's best for them. And some people just will never appreciate how much you've done for them -- digging into their past, calling up old girlfriends, smearing their reputation -- in order to save them from the hellhole that is middle class America. Once this uppity prole has been decimated and returned, chastened, to his proper position -- leadership from above, confidence from below -- and, say, some nasty dirt has been spread about him based on an affair or the like, he can take great comfort in the promise that, under President Obama, sexuality is sacred. Bring it on. No one is perfect, unless you are obama. I don't think digging into his past will go over well with the masses. All the man did was ask a simple question and he was very respectful to obama when obama was giving his response.

The media thought they'd put this dopey plumber on the air and either get him to admit that Obama's tax policy is actually awesome, or make him look like a fool.
Turns out Joe made them look like idiots, and now he must be punished. They also know that they have potentially hurt their candidate, so they must correct their mistake! Joe's got brass ones though, I think he'll be ok. Posted by: DM! at October 16, 2008 01:34 PM (CuFVA) 12
This could be the silver bullet - the media conspires to destroy Joe Six Pack because he dared to speak against The One. That'll play well on Main Street.

I saw Joethis morningon TV and when asked who he supported he declined to say, stating that it was a personal decision he was going to make. I think that generally people believe he supports McCain. It is a wise move on his part to not mention who he is supporting because everything from the past will be dug up, his business smeared and possible vandalism andthreats would be made against him and his family. Good luck Joe.

If the MSM and the far left choose to go down this rabbit hole, it might be the tipping point.
It was one thing to go after Palin. She was, after all, a political figure who put herself in the middle of the public discourse when she agreed to be the VP nominee. (Have the attacks been WAY over the line of common decency? Of course.) HOWEVER... It's a completely different thing to go after Joe Middle America based on the simple premise that he doesn't represent the far left ideology. Palin + a pissed off middle America = potential for massive voter turnout. Posted by: cbharmon at October 16, 2008 01:36 PM (z3HXX) 17

The Left, prone to idolatry, is incapable of understanding this distinction. They worship their presidential candidate as if he were God. In fact, he's better than God, in their opinion, because they're at least nominally certain that Obama exists. They can't be entirely certain because of all the drugs they took when they were younger, but that's good enough. Posted by: Kensington at October 16, 2008 01:40 PM (xFNQx) 30

Oh the Hilarity. Let me get this right. A private citizen expresses his private opinion in an election and he has to be torn down personally for his temerity.
Joe the Plumber is not running for office. Please recall that with The One always elides any discussion of his background and character as a "distraction" from the "real issues". If trying to understand the temperament of a man who might be entrusted with the lives of members of the armed forces is not relevant, than the personal life of Joe is utterly so. If they attack this man, for simply asking a question and challenging the logic of the answer. They look like assholes and America will see it. I am waiting for the arrogant Senator Government to make a remark like Joe is not very smart or something. It is coming. Joe the Plumber will be the lynchpin pulled to collapse the machine. Joe is the perfect gateway to assault Senator Government on taxes and spending. This is the sign that we will win. Stand strong my republican allies. Mac is within 2 among likely voters in Gallup. Within 4 in Rasmussen. The polls have shifted. The arrogant elite school conservatives need to be proved wrong. These eggheads are just like senator government. I would question if they ever were really conservatives seeing as they are so willing to back a socialist mentored by communists. Its us against them. The elite think they know best for 300 million americans. We know what is best not a handful of folks. We cannot let these turncoat benedict arnold traitor, snake in the grass ass cowards stop the march to victory. Despite the cover up by the MSM, McCain made a fool out of Senator Government last night and mopped the floor up and down hofstra with Barry Big Government. With Joe the plumber on every news channel saying he is scared of Senator Governments tax plan as an average hard working american it gives evidence to McCain's whole argument last night. It is a perfect storm and we cannot let it pass. When someone says Obama will help the middle class, just point them to joe who works 10-12 hour days and is finally able to own a business and create some jobs. Strike while the iron is hot. A certain amount of reporting/digging is fair if he is mis-representing himself somehow (such as the "poor" family in Maryland that couldn't afford health insurance, yet had a 300K+ condo, new cars, and a family tree full of Princeton grads). I don't know if that is the case, and somehow I think the left won't stop there anyway.

Even if you're clean like Palin, Roberts, and Alioto, they make up crap. Remember they were trying to open up Roberts kids adoption records. What did they expect to find? That the kids were given up for adoption because the mothers were on the streets? The reason why they couldn't have kids? Only the left thinks that is valid in a debate on the qualification of a ussc justice. But, try to criticize obama about his paling around with terrorists, and you're a racist.

I think Hannah Arendt said that one of the great achievements of
Stalinism was to replace all discussion involving arguments and evidence with the question of motive. If someone were to say, for example, that there are many people in the Soviet Union who don't have enough to eat, it might make sense for them to respond, "It's not our fault, it was the weather, a bad harvest or something." Instead it's always, "Why is this person saying this, and why are they saying it in such and such a magazine? It must be that this is part of a plan." - Christopher Hitchens, in The Atlantic (back when it was a more or less respectable magazine). Posted by: Alex at October 16, 2008 01:49 PM (fgyj8) 40

Quite a laundry list of crooked dealing this year, eh? We have an aggressiveconspiracy of the leftist elite to silence an average American,a media conspiracy to quash any negative references to the socialist candidate, anda presidential campaign that not only lies about absolutely everything but has people committing credit card fraud as part of the fund raising effortwhilefunneling countless millions into a professional voter-fraud organization that's probably responsible for more than 200,000 false registrations in one state alone. That's just a portion ofthe sleazy and illegal stuff that we already know about. From the nut roots to the top of the blighted tree, the entire leftist structure is involved in criminality. I suspect that if truth be known we'd find that leftist vandalism of property is at an all time high this year, and there are probably many physical assaults that have gone unreported. That's the liberal base in action. We'll also findthat there are threats to property and/or livesbeing madebehind closed doors, payoffs of all sorts, etc. by those at the top of the jackass party.60's style violentactivismcombined with Chicago style political corruption. If they win by anything resembling a narrow margin the State will be illegitimate, and run by a group of scum who have no regard for law, tradition, or common moral decency.Time to hoard ammo.

But who cares if he does have a license or not? The point is, Joe is the everyman. The guy on the street. The guy who is unemployed, the guy who might have multiple DUIs, the guy who might be filing for bankruptcy, etc. Any number of sad scenarios. It doesn't matter what Joe does for a living. What matters is that he is now being investigated by the press and online nutjobs just because he asked a candidate a pretty simple question: are you going to raise my taxes?
I have a feeling "Joe the Plumber" is going to be the footnote in the history books as the man who turned the tide in the election. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Just wait...there's still 19 days to go... Posted by: Kris G at October 16, 2008 02:24 PM (7GZEI) 78

I agree that if he does start owning the business, that he should get his own license. Perhaps he is working on gettting one. Posted by: KCLady at October 16, 2008 02:26 PM (4eYzF) 80

do you know hard an MSM reporter is to gut and clean?
Speaking from more than 30 years' experience, I say it's quite easy. They're remarkably thin-skinned and completely gutless. Tastes like chicken, interestingly. My favorite recipe: rancid reporter remains stuffed with fish guts. Posted by: Paulitics at October 16, 2008 02:36 PM (iYguc) 89
Smoke is weird. I direct him towards a link about the plumber's license, but he just keeps saying the same thing over and over again. Then he gives the Right political advice. Very odd.

If it was "Jose the Plumber", I'd have to bet that people like Smoke would consider any questioning about having a license to be motivated by racism. 'Cause we all know all those illegal Mexican plumbers are fully licensed and bonded and pay all their taxes and union dues.

I don't have a state contractors licence either . 30 yrs. in construction and a sense of personal honor are all that's required to run my business . Quite a few state licensing requirements only go to increase the wealth and bureaucratic power of the states . On a related note , I knew a plumber with a bachelors in mechanical engineering . The local tech school wanted him to teach the plumbers course there . Because of local politics he couldn't get a license. So , no teaching job . He still did very well as the go to plumber for quite a few loyal customers. I learned a great deal about plumbing from him even though I'm a carpenter . I plumbed and wired my own house thanks to guys like him .
Keep it up , MSM . We working class people hate you more every day . Posted by: aubrey at October 16, 2008 03:16 PM (joS+d) 103
The Obama Left and their media attack dogs are intent on destroying Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber, while at the same time they are doing their very best to promote and "mainstream" the dispicable traits of Bill Ayers and Rev. Wright.

My prediction:
Joe the Plumber will get a Saturday afternoon half hour show on Fox News within two years, (right before the Beltway Boys) and it will be called Joe's Six Pack or Joe's Lunchbucket and focus on issues affecting the middle class (at least until the next Natalee Holloway-esque extravaganza). I really want to kick this guy's ass. However, public humiliation will suffice. Why is it that democrats refuse to play dirty. Sure, we should be above this. However, if the other guy is playing dirty and its working, does it make sense to keep getting hit. I think of one of the tactics that helped us win the war for independence: american troops stopped the time honored tradition of lining up in formation in unprotected space to shoot "honorably," switching to what we know as gurilla warfare, which helped even the odds (surpass them) against a better trained, greater numbered, greater weaponized force. Can we dems start playing dirty for a change instead of continually lying down and getting kicked by these fascist, lying, rat bastards.
Yeah, I still want to kick the shit out of Joe the (fuckhead). Medal of honor to those that "vet" this prick publicly. I'll be first in line to kiss their feet in thanks. God I hate this fucker. Posted by: Steve at August 19, 2009 07:30 PM (DxOhO) 126
