AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List
>

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:

2/9 – Jane D’Oh’s husband is still undergoing therapy as an outpatient. A couple of days ago they found out that he is paralyzed from the knee down on his left leg, so they have a neurologist appointment next Friday to try and determine the cause. In the meantime, Jane and family remain utterly grateful for all the prayers. After her husband was released from the hospital, they were told that he had been the most critically ill patient in the place and that it was a miracle he survived. The prayers helped tremendously.

2/9 – Russkiltlover asked for prayers for a co-worker who had a massive heart attack at work, and is on life-support. The co-worker was 28. He was a super sweet guy, great construction manager, and fun to work with.

2/14 – Kam Fong as Chin Ho asked for prayers for his co-worker and wife, as their 15-year-old son was killed in an accidental shooting.

2/18 – Jewells45 gave an update on her cancer. The CT scan showed no new growth, so that was fantastic news. There are ups and downs, be she is feeling better.

2/18 – Intruderdriver asked for prayers for Steve, a retired Marine aviator and airline pilot, who was hospitalized with a cancer that had metastasized into his bones, brain, and lungs.

2/20 – Iron Mike Golf asked for prayers as he underwent a shoulder replacement.

2/21 – Palerider at AoS requested prayers for her co-worker, William. He has battled brain cancer before. It came back this fall, and he did a round of intense treatment at Mayo. He is now having vision issues making it difficult for him to do his work on the computer. She requests prayers that the vision issues resolve quickly and his cancer is put back into remission.

2/21 P has for prayers, as his family has been having an interesting time lately. His dear wife was in the hospital over Christmas and New Year’s. She has lost her hearing and may need implants. She can walk now with a walker, which is a huge improvement over the last month. Additionally, their youngest son had ACL surgery in late Dec.

2/24 – Legally Sufficient asked for the Horde’s prayers as she undergoes total knee replacement surgery on 2/27. She asks for strength and continued faith. She also asked for prayers for her husband, and asks that God would provide him with strength and patience as he helps nurse her through this.

2/24 – SnailRacer asked for prayers for the family and friends of WDS - Westminster Dog Show -Diane who passed away last week.

2/25 – J asked for prayers for a new trap-shooting club that is starting. He asks that it is successful for all the adults and children involved and doesn’t get attention outside of their pro-hunting community (if you know what I mean).

2/25 – Dr_No sends an update and thanks for the prayers for healing for his daughter Megan. We had prayed for her when she was going through chemotherapy for colon cancer 2 years ago. She just tested again, and is still cancer-free! He prays for blessings and healing for those still dealing with illness and loss.

2/25 – Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Lloyd sends prayers of thanks for his daughter’s turnaround. She had become alienated from her parents and from God, and now has come back more toward faith and is more kind and concerned toward them. This has also helped his wife’s faith, too, which has been struggling due to these troubles with their daughter.

3/1 – Inogame asked for prayers. He had come to the Horde after his wife miscarried 2 years ago, and appreciated our prayers and kindness. They were blessed with a little girl later that year. Now they are in the same situation. They have lost another baby and need prayers against the sorrow and depression.

3/7 - Pookysgirl sends a prayer of thanks that Pooky has been approved for SSDI benefits, and designated as 100% disabled by the VA, which doubles his monthly benefits. This means they are not in such a desperate financial situation, and it marks the end of a two+ year battle with bureaucracy.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

Romans 8:26-27
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

49 This being turkey country, turkey ham is pretty common. Ranges from OK (lots of mustard) to just good enough. One of the neighbors will fire up his smoker for days on time, smoking stuff for himself, friends and neighbors. He ran a small turkey ham for a few hours. Tried some and it was real good. There's quite a bit of juice pumped into them, so it didn't dry out, just got more smoke flavor.

ISIS claims responsibility for killing 35 people who identified as "Christian" in eastern Congo.

And the massacre happened in a village and not e.g. on a bus after asking passengers 'Who is Christian?' so the "identified" isn't some sort of literal reporting of what happened.

Jordy Nelson, as assistant coach, took the HS girls BB team to the 3A State Tournament. His sister Kelsey, also a local athletic star, was the coach. I saw the game, because the school system shut down for game day.

One of the girls is a neighbor, and she was thrilled they made it to state, even with the early exit. Good coaching made the difference, and the girls earned their place by working hard and being coachable.

Next year should be fun for them, as all but one player returns, and the Nelsons commit to another year of coaching. This is a school of less. than 250 high schoolers, and less than 1,000 in the entire school system. With 5 gyms plus a Green Bay Packers weight room provided by Jordy, in another building he built.

Tell the neighbor to call the IRS to see if the return was received, or even resend the form as an "amended" return

If they didn't get the form they may not care to tell him about it until they file a demand to file with a hefty penalty and interest because the IRS never figures your write offs, just the tax to pay. Also, they may n ot honor any refund if the return is older than three years.

In Michigan we have a thing call the Rifle Line, which runs east-west across the Lower Peninsula. North of that rifles are legal for hunting, south of it they are forbidden due to population density.

So when house hunting for anything larger than a cottage down south, shotguns with slugs are the way to go.

Naw, it's changed a lot.

Ace used to do more straight up comedy routines and some political writing.

The biggest change and one I think really improved the blog was the addition of DaveinTexas, OregonMuse, and CBD as cob-loggers.

Yeah, there were a couple of misfires, but meh, they're gone.

At the same time Ace did fewer straight up comedy routines, more or less dropped the 1000 page movie reviews and went did more political writing with humor as condiments and spice

Ace's persona has changed a bit over the years too. not as harsh and prickly. Perhaps he's found a cute Ewok gal..

As far as I know they do, and it is also considered as a good substance for the biohackers.
IIRC, the MDs prefer to prescribe Allopurinol first since chochicine is pretty harsh

Posted by: Kindltot at March 11, 2023 09:44 AM (xhaym)

218 This being the prayer thread, I will note that instead of commenting or reading news, I have expanded my prayer time and am focusing more on religious matters.

Those of you who read me over the years know I often had various predictions about things and was usually a voice of optimism. After being proven repeatedly wrong, I now believe we as a society are in free-fall and rather than worry about it, I need to focus on helping those closest to me.

The good news is that God will triumph, and His love and mercy is without limit, so by focusing on that, I've found a great deal of peace. Just the other day I noticed that I don't seem to be hurting as much of late. My "old age" pains are gone. I'm sure part of that is because I'm out of the military at long last.

Anyway, I like coming back and visiting the Horde, but I can't put myself back into that place of following the news. For me it is an occasion of sin, like a recovered alcoholic promising himself "just one drink."

Flat front woodpeckers sounds like a contradiction in terms.

331 LL Bean @ 322-
Flat front keeps your 'beak' from banging into the bar when you're looking for females, but pleated shows them you're looking.

337 Happy birthday to Ace!

I am still hanging in there with everything. Things get better at some point. All prayers are much appreciated.

338 Turkey bacon is great, although I think it might be different in the USA than it is in the UK.
In the UK it isn't pretending to be bacon, it's just a turkey rasher about 4-6mm thick. Low fat, high in protein, perfect for building muscle.
