Blogs Doing The Work That The Old Grey Whore Lady (The New York Times)Refuses To Do

If you needed more proof that The New York Times and its fellow traveler The Washington Post are bought and paid for by the Democrat Party, look no farther than the records of the Ghislaine Maxwell (Jeffrey Epstein's partner in crime) trial. Any newspaper worth the paper it is printed on would have gone to court the second the client list was sealed by the judge. After all, isn't the motto of the nation's most famous paper, "All The News That's Fit To Print?"

In what world is the client list of the world's most famous pimp not news...big news? Ah yes, the world of our elites, in which they protect each other from the consequences of their actions. And if those actions are a little bit of child rape? Well, they did go to Yale, so it isn't really rape-rape!

These are not the names of the victims; these are not the names of people who were involved in the case but were not culpable. These are the names of the perpetrators of vile acts, and by sealing the records the court is complicit in their crimes. But we now know that there is a two-tiered justice system in America, and there is no crime that cannot be covered up in the interests of those elites. Sadly, there is also no crime that cannot be manufactured to punish the hoi polloi when they dare to exercise their own rights. The hundreds who are accused and the dozens in jail for the January 6th protest would certainly agree with that statement!

The Gateway Pundit Petitions Court to Unseal Epstein's Alleged Client List [PDF download]

The Gateway Pundit has petitioned a New York federal court to unseal the suspected client list for the alleged child sex trafficking ring run by Jeffrey Epstein and associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

Seeking to report on what the lawsuit called the "Epstein Client List," The Gateway Pundit, a conservative news outlet, filed a motion on July 27 via lawyers to intervene in the Giuffre v. Maxwell case in the U.S. District Court for the District of New York.

So The New York Times sits on its hands while The Gateway Pundit does the work that real reporters used to dream about doing. This is the sort of story that makes careers, yet the lack of any interest is conspicuous. A suspicious man might think that the list of "clients" is already sitting on the desk of the managing editor of The NYT and he is carefully not using it because some of his friends are on that list. And even worse, some of those names are exactly the people he has been protecting for his entire career.

Does anyone wonder what would have happened had there been any suggestion that Donald Trump was on that list? The NYT would have put dozens of reporters on the story, hired the best legal minds in the country and would have done everything possible to unseal those documents. It would have been front page news for months.

The reality is that the "great" newspapers of America are protecting child rapists for political reasons, because they believe that the greater good is served if the left-wing politicians and philanthropists on that list will serve the progressive ideal and not be held accountable for their crimes.

38 Skip, missed the book thread but saw your comment yesterday Pacific War history and wanted to recommend a book to you. Tower of Skulls (great title, actually from a letter between Japanese and Chinese literary friends), by Richard Frank.

First of a trilogy Frank says will examine the key but far less covered aspects of that war. China is the almost exclusive focus of the book as I recall. Very good, as a long time WWII fanatic it was nice to be covering entirely new (to me) ground.

Another one that should be part of any Pacific War reading list is Japan 1941 by Eri Hotta, which looks at the really jaw-dropping dysfunction, cowardice, and systemic internal failures that led to Pearl Harbor.

54 There does seem to be far more than the usual flimsy supposition and B movie framework to suggest this was - at least in part - in fact an intel operation to compromise furriners. Apart from the sealing of the list, which of course has multiple possible (corrupt) rationales, there was the action of the Miami USA (and later Trump Labor Sec) in that first case, right?

Wasn't it established that he simply squashed the case (effectively) in response to a request from intel? Such things do happen - some times for solid reasons - so it's not fringe fantasy. And while I haven't followed this case at all, thought I remembered that the intel intervention in that FL situation was undisputed.

Check to see if there's a photoeye and source on opposite sides of the garage. It's there to stop the door if there's something in the way, e.g. a person. They sometimes get bumped and misaligned, so they no longer function and the door won't go down. Also, we find that ours doesn't work when there's sunlight coming in the garage.

Tora! again online at the moment, and have been surprised how well the script is following the key historical points, on both sides. Back when movies could be actually well done in terms of underlying substance.

But really "Japan 1941" is not a huge tome, a fairly quick read, and it explores in detail what Anna mentions here. It's really just about impossible to imagine how screwed up things were at every point of Japan's disastrous path. And the weird role of personalities - like the Japanese foreign minister who graduated from U. of Oregon, considered his American host family as a second family, and yet launched Japan into the Axis pact and made absurd miscalculations about American reactions to Japanese policies.

The garage door remotes have been intermittently not working. It's not the remotes though. Hubby thinks if he replaces the logic board on the opener they might work better again.Logic board is around $120 I think. Worth it? It's an old liftmaster.

Isn't there a universal remote that can be programmed for a particular door motor, much like TV remotes? I've actually mislaid mine.

We had a problem with one of our garage doors. It worked only intermittently, with either the remote, or outside key pad. While the logic board for the opener was still available, the manufacturer discontinued that particular model. We just went ahead and replaced the opener....it was a lot cheaper than replacing the logic board.

My garage opener has a LED bulb and it doesn't affect the signal. The range isn't like a quarter mile, but is sufficient to fully open the door before I'm ready to enter the garage. Prior to the LED that's in there now it was CFL and it didn't affect it either. Maybe it's the location of the socket on the opener?

Well, Mr Martini, as AOP stated above, some LEDs can have be adequately "shielded." In fact, they make specific bulbs for garage door openers.

We have a couple of washes through the property.

All papers are dying because it cost money for content and advertising is now dominated by Googul and TV. The last straw was Craig's List taking away classified ad dollars from them.
Effectively, they have to go online versus print to even keep a vestige of existence. The issue is though that everyone has gotten use to 'free' content because of Googul and the like. You can't have 'free' content and expect people to produce something for nothing and eat the cost. Advertising paid the bills at newspapers and that is gone.

Only way to exist is to be very efficient and to that point, centralizing news content acquisition to AP and Reuters. Same as now radio has largely went to nationalized playlists due to monopolization of ownership. Course that destroys local news coverage which is why a lot of people would listen to radio or read newspapers anyway. Local TV is starting down that path as well with nationally syndicated 'features' along with AP/Reuters garbage national content; only weather and sports are the main residuals of local coverage along with the occasional local breaking story.

I checked on an "interference engine" list, and they say all Nissans are interference engines. That means if the timing belt breaks, catastrophic engine damage will result. Some Nissans still use internal timing chains, and usually they will begin to rattle loudly long before complete failure occurs. But if your model uses a timing belt, and you have no record of when it was last replaced, it would be prudent to have it changed.
