The Card Players
Paul Cézanne

This is the first version of a recurrent theme, and I like it the most. It's pretty small too, about 25"x32", but it's a small and intimate scene, so I guess the size fits. And the pipe rack on the wall is odd, and oddly endearing.

[addendum] Commenter YupYupYo tells us that those are public pipes, to be returned after use. They are made of clay, and the user is to bite break off the soggy portion, leaving a fresh, dry pipe for the next user. [That's faintly disgusting]

21 This picture just shows what a hack Cezanne was.

He obviously copied the much superior work featuring dogs playing cards, changing the players to humans to avoid copyright infringement.

If you compare the two works, you will see just how inferior and derivative Cezanne's version was.

57 Cezanne did a lot of paintings where he does the same subject over and over over several years. They become an interesting study into the development of his style. Another example of this would be his studies of Mont Ste. Victoire near his hometown. He paints it from several different angles over several years and you see the desolution of subject into an examination of space and color.

122 57 Cezanne did a lot of paintings where he does the same subject over and over over several years. They become an interesting study into the development of his style. Another example of this would be his studies of Mont Ste. Victoire near his hometown. He paints it from several different angles over several years and you see the desolution of subject into an examination of space and color.

142 Yeesh, I self-willowed-

Okay, Lifetime Channel give me a call-

I've got the script for your next awesome Lifetime movie.

"Daisy, You'll Never Fly Alone"

Single Mother, Daisy Allwymyn (Valerie Bertinelli) boards her seat on United Airlines.

She chats amiably to the passenger next to her, a sassy Muslim woman in a burka, Aisha Mohammed al Mohammed (Queen Latifa), and they form an unbreakable bond of sisterhood that will be tested to the utmost moments later as-

two musclebound United Airlines thugs inform Daisy that she must leave her seat so that big time millionaire airline pilot, Skybolt Masterson (Michael J. Fox) can fly to Louisville, KY for the Kentucky Derby.

But, Daisy refuses to leave her seat! The thugs explain she must leave because she is a woman and cannot beat two men. Nevertheless, Daisy persists.

And soon, United Airlines is in the fight of their lives.

Hijinks ensue!

You'll laugh! You'll cry! Sassy Islamic woman!

"Daisy, You'll Never Fly Alone is a movie for these trouble times.

Kino Lorber is going to release all(?) of Lina Wertmuller's big films this year in U.S. theaters.

Then later this year release them on blu-ray.

All of her big movies date from the early 70's and

Her vision of women and men's relationships are going to be seen as "problematic" at best from the current generation of Special Snowflakes.

I'm guessing that Kino Lorber is going to be very surprised by the totally unsurprising vehemence of the SS's reaction.

Remember Podesta coming in and hemming and hawing and telling the crowd 'it's not over".

Because that was what Felonia was screaming repeatedly. And I agree Obama had to call her and tell her she lost. And she did call Trump and congratulate him if I remember correctly.

They knew they were in huge trouble when they cancelled the fireworks show over the Hudson three days before the election. Someone had to have started clueing her in at that point, because she suddenly decided to swing into Michigan. And do the stupid thing and go to Detroit, which was going to vote for her 500% as was proved after the election. She didn't go to where she might have gotten some swing votes. I think she had about 200 people at her rally.

And Trump was doing four and five rallies a day, in swing states, and finalized his campaign at midnight in Grand Rapids, MI.

Where I'll remind the Clinton campaign, he filled the DeVos center with 15,000 attendees after only giving a six hour notice that the campaign would be there at midnight(Pence at 11pm) on a Monday night. Which he and his staff organized after hearing Hillary had gone to Michigan earlier in the day.

That's always been a curious footnote to this whole thing.

Unless she had polling that was vastly out of line with most polling, especially at the state level, and they placed a whole lot more trust in that private poll, which has never been released if it even exists, over, quite literally, everyone else's polls, then I'll continue to believe that the fireworks cancellation was unrelated to the prospects of winning.

And which never would be missed - which never would be missed!
There's San Francisco, just to start, whose sins are manifold -
And down the coast in Hollywood, where crappy films are gold -
Seattle rains can never wash away the filth that's there -
And look now to Chicago, with the blood stains everywhere -
And Washington DC, of course, the seat of all amiss -
They'd none of them be missed - they'd none of 'em be missed!

Nice. There was an epic fight between the Flyers & Canucks back in the 1970s, the teams fought each other & the fans, numerous arrests were made, and the judge warned the Flyers that appeared before him that they better behave the next time they were in Vancouver. Sure enough the next time they were in Vancouver, another bench clearing brawl broke out, but no one got arrested. Flyers player "Moose" Dupont was interviewed after the game, a cigarette in one hand & beer in the other & he remarked "We had a good game. We scored 10 goals, we beat up their chickenshit forwards & we don't go to jail. Now we drink some beer."

They misread the situation entirely. To be fair, so did I, but I am no political mover and shaker.

That's a lot of us. Obviously not the Trump true believers, to whom I doff my chapeau, but for a lot of us Trump was a forlorn hope, a last electoral stand of sorts. And he may still be, but it's working out better than initially expected, so who knows.

438 I think O'Reilly is out. He's taking a 2 week vacation. I remember several years ago he settled out of court on a sexual harassment charge then bragged on TV how powerful he was and better not mess with me. He's the lowest of the low. I think those stupid emails he reads are all fake.

It's neat how the western part of the state announces their returns first and the eastern part seems to just keep going and going until the western votes are covered.
