Why aren't we mandating that before any College can receive state funding that the 1. scrap any speech codes they have and 2. that they put in place severe mandatory punishments for those who disrupt political events of those they disagree with or threaten violence or mass disruption in order to stop those events?

Why aren't we putting in place very Pro-American requirements across the board for schools. Why aren't we making it easier for students who are threatened by far Left Teachers to push back or let the parents remove those teachers?

We need to start pushing back against the Lefts corruption of the learning process and to break their straggled hold on Post Secondary Education.

116 Sounds like Lena Dunham spent a good six hours on the phone with Random House lawyers getting the story straight.

Not that you can tell people what to say, but there is a lot of: "Understand, if you say this, the consequences are that. We want to get to this place, and we paid you millions of dollars. If your story doesn't get us to that place, you can always give the money back."

Whoever made that phone call was either having the most fun day of his life, or has no soul. (NYC publishing in house counsel, let's face it: her)

I just don't think that Lena Dunham has been required to keep a story straight in her life and isn't prepared for how tough it can be. (This phone call, to be effective, should cross-examine the story as a cop would.)

I think parts of it were probably true. Like when she says he took his condom off twice. That part was probably true, except that he didn't take his condom off, it fell off twice, because he kept losing his erection. Then they had consensual sex and he didn't orgasm (just as she wrote in her journal; except that he didn't for the same reason that his condom kept falling off -- she's just gross). Then, before he left, he probably said something that made Dunham mad -- something unflattering about her looks or her performance in bed -- and when she talked to her girlfriends about her date with "Barry" a few days later and they said he was a d*ck, that's when she started spinning it in her mind as a "rape."

Well, in New York State the state legislature is majority GOP. But our Senators are essentially chosen by New York City.

That's why repealing that amendment is necessary. Besides, we have 50 states and after the last election even more state legislatures are controlled by the GOP. Direct election of senators as well as the federal income tax were what started us down this road to hell.

We have to try everything we can. Gotta do it.

Ah, yes..."after the last election even more state legislatures are controlled by the GOP." And that would differ from "the Senate and House" are controlled by Republicans now" in what way?

My only wish about government is that its members have their power steadily lessened, down to a point when they really are nothing more than the useless preening dunderheads they appear to be. In fact, this country would be in an ideal state if D.C. could be flattened by a meteor and no one outside Maryland ever heard about or felt any effect from it.

On my "Top 100" list of things to do to the government, repealing the 17th is roughly Number 172.

Towns like Skaneatles are totes lib but down the way everything is solid Teaparty or Red. 228 To those of you complaining about Republicans being tricked into voting for Obama's amnesty - read the link. Yes, they were tricked. Here's what happened:

Day 1 - House leadership distributed copies of a 1-1/2 page bill blocking funding for amnesty, no exceptions. Votes were whipped.

Night - Bill is rewritten and exceptions added which will give Obama legal cover to grant amnesty.

Day 2 - Amended bill is not distributed to members before the vote is called. Anyone who wanted to read the new bill had to know to read it on the rules committee's website or ask the clerk for the actual amended bill, then leave the floor of the House to go make a copy of the amended bill.

And that's how the sausage is made.

walk the cat backwards on this one.

Since the book was already published, and she herself gave public statements touting the "rape"-

The "rape" charge gave heft and salability to an otherwise usual fluffy book of a showbiz libtard doing libtarded things.

"

In his manifesto and during interrogation, Breivik claimed membership in an "international Christian military order", which he calls the new Pauperes commilitones Christi Templique Solomonici (PCCTS, Knights Templar). According to Breivik, the order was established as an "anti-Jihad crusader-organisation" that "fights" against "Islamic suppression" in London in April 2002 by nine men: two Englishmen, a Frenchman, a German, a Dutchman, a Greek, a Russian, a Norwegian (apparently Breivik), and a Serb (supposedly the initiator, not present, but represented by Breivik). "

Considering Hector apparently shares Breivik's worldview, I think we should let Interpol know about our little resident cretin.

283 If these Reps were really "fooled" by the oh-so-crafty John Boehner, you know, the legislative genius who outsmarts Obama and the Dims all the ckufing time-

then they need to remove him from the Speaker's position tout suite.

Like, right now.

How sad but we need to make it clear that anyone who voted for that bill will be targeted and voted out next election-

even if they were fooled if-

they do not undo it.

285 The support of the right to peaceful assembly and protest applied to non-peaceful mobs is a parallel to the private biz of running a blog like this. An incredible range of topics and opinions and repartee is permitted. But there are limits and things work best when they are enforced. There is appropriate and inappropriate. There is no obligation to suffer disruptive trolling or highway blocking. Billy clubs and banhammers.

288 The very weird thing (conspiracy?) about the Dunham story is that "Barry" was a conservative on campus. Someone exactly like that existed, it's just the details were off.
Purposely implicating him and thinking she could get away with it? Meaning someone did the research to find "that guy?"
This is creepy. So very creepy. "Barry" is not a common name. And certainly matching up "Barry" with belonging to a Republican or Conservative campus organization cannot be chance.
Too early... need my breakfast.
Posted by: artisanal 'ette at December 09, 2014 08:35 AM (IXrOn)

Apparently the real Barry claims to have never really met Dunham.

I suspect Barry was trolling a college bar at closing one night for some easy pickings, flirted a bit with Lena, then found a girl who wasn't the very bottom of the barrel and left with her. Lena's story is simply her fantasy/revenge.

"First we do these breathing exercises and I go, 'I can do this'...and then she says we are going to get in the first position -- the "harnessing of the hog,'" Phoenix recalled of first meeting his now-fiancee. "Before I can say, 'Who is the hog?' She grabs me -- and it's a compromising and vulnerable position -- and she gets a strap and puts it [around me] and she's thrusting [against] me and I go, 'Oh, no! My back pain!' 294 There is no "right to protest" in this country. The First Amendment says this (among other things): "the right of the people peaceably to assemble" MOST of the Garner protests are not peaceful. Obstructing and intimidating innocents is not peaceful. It is thuggery, even if no fists are thrown.

Posted by: MrScribbler at December 09, 2014 07:52 AM (yAC3X)"

I see where you concerns are, I'm in NJ and I'm sure they wouldn't do any better, but I think there is a bigger picture.

What we've done with the legislative branch is turn it into varsity and JV with the 17th ammendment, you have the JV in the house, and the Senate is the varsity, just super congressmen that don't represent the interests of their states at large. Forget the representation of the people, that's what the house i there, the Senate is there for the state interests, and without a 17th amendment you have no ACA, and likely many other things that require leeching off one state, or putting an undo burden on the states would come to pass.

That would be the feature of such a repeal, state legislatures could recall their senators if they weren't doing what they were supposed to be doing. These craptastic senators for life would be retired to the dustbin of history in all but the most partisan of states.

Maybe nothing would change, but It would be an interesting thing to attempt. On a list of 100 things to see the govt. do, this is like number 2 or 3 for me, so I guess your mileage may vary.

Anyone who says they were "tricked" should be primaried on general principles.

They've got one job, ONE JOB.

Read and understand the fucking bill You're voting on assholes.

If you're not being given enough time to read the bills then demand more time.

Form a posse and go beat the shit out of "leadership"

It just reveals very starkly that everyone of these pukes is fucking useless.

Posted by: Kreplach at December 09, 2014 07:04 AM (Oc3Dj)"

From my limited understanding of the issue, Republicans had one bill that they read and at the last minute, the leadership substituted another bill which was voted on. So, yes, it sounds like there is a reasonable case to be made that they were tricked. Of course, the reasonable thing to do when somebody tricks you like that is to vote them out of power.

312 Instead of sit-down final exams this semester, every student faces an obstacle course of ambush stand-and-deliver interrogations. The scenarios are designed to emphasize think-on-your-feet integration of wildly disparate info, so high-school algebra and science in the newspapers can weigh as much as last month's specialized lectures. Totally designed to thwart rote memorizers like me. I'm frazzled and demoralized like Sabrina Rubin Erdely locked in a room with actual facts.

So, of course, I've let myself become obsessed with the most monstrous evil on television: the MTV sitcom "Faking It," wherein two straight outcasts vault to homecoming queens when they're mistakenly outed as the high school's first lesbian couple. (As if.)

This POS must be demolished, but not at the expense of my lifelong dreams. So I'm putting a pin in it and promising that over Christmas break I'll assemble 10,000 words driving a stake through this affront to logic, decency and lesbiankind.

I'm hoping that laying down a marker will break the fever and let me channel that energy into the productive project of humiliating my puny-brained classmates.

Morons, hold me to my promise.

Read the comments at that story. As usual, there are people claiming that the police should have shot the guy in the foot. This is an individual who was holding a knife with which he had already stabbed somebody while shouting his desire to kill his victim.

For anybody who is not yet aware of it, no police department teaches its officers to shoot people in the foot. If you are not justified in using deadly force you should not ever pull the trigger or even point a weapon at somebody. It is harder to hit what you are aiming at than you might think from watching movies or TV, especially if they are moving around. That is why they teach police to aim for the center of mass. The center of the torso is not where a wound will most effectively stop an individual but it is the place where if your aim is a little bit off, you are still likely to hit them somewhere.
