I was lucky to see Lida Pense and Cold Blood a number of times. Nothing compares to one or their shows.

The lovely late Mrs Doof used to make outstanding brownies. She made them for family gatherings and for birthdays of those closest to her heart. Only one person knows how she made them and why they were so good. Yup - me. I've made 2 batches since she's been gone. The good thing is, my boys and our nieces all say I made them perfectly and love that they get to be reminded of the woman we all loved so much. The bad thing is, smelling them baking hurts my heart because it takes me back to sooooo many times when she made them.

My favorite was the Italian team that had the espresso machine and set up in their dugout. They complained they had to use paper cups, saying it was "uncivilized."
Second favorite was the Czech team, a bunch of guys who love to play ball. Their pitcher struck out Shohei Ohtani, who asked for a Czech jersey signed by their team. Very cool

My brother has been married to a Mexican woman for the past 30+ years. Occasionally they go down there to visit her family, but when they do, there are certain protocols. They have to let everyone know they are coming several weeks in advance. See, everyone there either works for the cartel or knows somebody else who does. The advance notice is so that the cartel will know who you are and why you are there, and so they won't bother you.
If you just show up and the cartel doesn't know why you are there, you could be in for big trouble.

His son (my uncle) served under General Patton, in 3rd Army, in WWII. Along with about 250,000 other guys, as well.

Look at school output. Most middle-school students can't read and definitely can't do Arithmetic. Forget Algebra and Calculus. So less and less of our population has any idea how food and other (essential) goods is produced. Thus the concept of not shitting in your kitchen has no meaning.
Then look at our media. Every minor incident is 'the end of the world'. In practice, whatever the minor inconvenience was, it went away. The Public, already mostly ignorant idiots eventually stop reacting to any cautions - 'Ah it'll go away.'
The only benefit? The survivors have a very strong immune system.

The World Baseball Classic was fantastic. I have never enjoyed it so much. From what I saw tonight both teams were pushing to win with an edge to the Japanese players - they were on fire and they were just enough better tonight to pull out the win. This every 4 year event is something worth looking forward too. It makes me want to go on a baseball journey to Japan, Taiwan, and Mexico.

Mexico is spicy. Notice in the article that the CDN cartel is taking on the trappings of a legit army - full on standard uniforms and equipment. More and more it is looking like Mexico is going to fragment into a bunch of narco nation states. I have never worried about going to Puerto Palomas, which is just south of Columbus, New Mexico. Juarez? There is exactly zero chance I will be going there anytime in the foreseeable future. Same for Nogales. And the Texas border towns - I am not sure I would feel safe in the American towns anymore. Las Cruces, New Mexico has cartel members that are known to show up at one particular bar which I find concerning. About a month ago I was right on the border in Sunland Park, NM and the Border Patrol was rounding up illegals as fast as they could with the still free illegals playing hide and seek by running through the yards of the houses in the area or by trying to look like creosote bushes. It is a matter of time before the cartels or some illegals start shooting or kidnapping people on the American side. It is all pretty head spinning.

When I sleep I'm always amazed when the alarm goes off. I'm up at 430 Pacific to tend the dogs so wife doesn't have to.

One of the best dive bar/ restaurants in Seattle that's open until very late. Their motto is alcoholics serving alcoholics since 1929. I used to live a block from it and would find myself there many times when I couldn't sleep. It was not unusual to find the cooks in the bar next door between orders slamming shots of whiskey. A couple nights before I left Seattle for New Mexico I had one of the cooks dream me up the perfect Roadhouse meal and I slipped to 40 bucks to do it. To this day it is the greatest greasy spoon meal I've ever had, a magnificent masterpiece of eggs and hash browns and God knows what else was in there.

The Mecca Cafe and the 5 Point are actually separate locations. The Mecca is in lower Queen Anne while the 5 Point is at the end of 5th avenue at Denny square. At one point in time they were both owned by the same people and to this day they retain a very similar nature so much so that they're pretty much interchangeable. I was a Mecca person cuz as I said I lived a block from it. Man, I used to get hammered in there.

Hubs is okay, slowly failing in memory issues. Is still sort of lost about not working.
My Hailey is such a joy! Talking, (not always understandable) and she keeps me on my toes! All else is same old.

Wow, I never found out about either. I loved "Mama's Mexican Kitchen", 2nd St. and Bell. Da "Best Taco's in Seattle...Da Best!" Not too far from either of them. I wish someone had told me. I would bar hop around Belltown from time to time. Miss spent youth...and all.
