Yes, men should be physically strong. They should also exemplify traditional masculine virtues like courage, independence, and assertiveness. But why? Not so they can sh-tpost about how ripped or good-looking they are compared to libs, but so they can protect and defend those who are weak. That is the organizing principle behind the entire concept of manliness: it is not a style or a pose or an adornment. It is a way of being, of living according to the principle that you are responsible for the welfare of others, and should sacrifice yourself for their sake.
What does that mean in practice? It means stepping in to help those in need, whether it’s a woman being harassed or a stranger whose car has broken down. It means risking your own safety to protect someone being attacked, instead of just filming the attack on your phone and posting it online like a beta.
It also means marrying and remaining faithful to the same woman your entire life, and raising a family with her. It means working whatever hours and at whatever job in order to provide for that family. It means going to church every Sunday, whether you feel like it or not, to pass your faith on to your kids. It means getting up in the middle of the night to feed a colicky baby. It means taking your two-year-old daughter to swim class and singing all the songs — your own sense of dignity be damned.
The author goes on to state that as a gay man, he breaks fundamentally with the last paragraph, but I don't think it's necessarily so. And another thing. The food pyramid that everyone recently decided to hate was built on much experience - much of it during WWII in England - where that type of diet did lead to good results. Grain is not evil - sedentary, climate controlled, fat asses over-eating is the problem.

I don't know of any food-allergic kids that come from genetically diverse parents (even if both parents are white/caucasian).
This stuff is super common in the Midwest and other long-established ethnically homogenous places where you're likely to have kids with someone whose great grandparents were in the same wagon train.
I remember food allergies being common where I came from where everyone was scotch-irish and whose progenitors were on the same handful of boats arriving on our shores.

I believe the problem with carbs is that they are easier to digest and don't provide protein, so as you point out if you eat a ton of pasta and sit on your butt you'll get fatter then if you are steak and sat on your butt, though the answer is really...don't sit on your butt all day.

Grain is not evil.
But grain risen with commercial brewer's yeast and "enhanced" with superpowered chemicals in 25 minutes and then baked is not particularly digestible.
For the last 4000 years grain has been fermented and risen over the course of a day before baking and consumption. That's healthy. That's good to eat. Since the 50's, not so good.

I miss brewer's yeast. In the health food you could buy big tins of balanced brewer's yeast at a reasonable price, mix in some malt, raw eggs, frozen orange juice and some other goodies and have a good pep-up drink.
You could get a real malt at the Ice Cream Parlor too.

Around the 80s parents started being very particular about what they fed their infants. Doctors were saying they needed to avoid certain food until they were 2 or 5 years old, or whatever. I think that is to blame. Early exposure when immune system is developing builds resistance.

I think it was called the Oslo diet, and was due to rationing that started in 1940. Lunches served to kids at school were "national loaf" or whole meal bread, lettuce, tomato, carrots and milk. Apparently studies during the time showed kids actually thriving on it. Of course, they were government studies, sooo.....

And another thing. The food pyramid that everyone recently decided to hate was built on much experience - much of it during WWII in England - where that type of diet did lead to good results. Grain is not evil - sedentary, climate controlled, fat asses over-eating is the problem.

Actually the food pyramid, the first one not the subsequent ones that are worse, was based on falsified data and shoddy experimental controls.
It was pushed, in part, to show that cheaper grains were a good substitute for meats and dairy which cost more under the inflation that started in the 70's

Before the "Pyramid", we had the "Four Square Food Group" plan. Meats, Vegetables, Dairy, Grains. The idea was that, through the course of a whole day, if you got relatively even portion of all four, you'd be covering your nutritional needs. And mostly, we did.
The damn "Pyramid" brought in the idea that Grains should be the MOST of your intake (it occupied the entire base of the Pyramid!), with each other food being a lesser and still lesser amount. That "meats" at the top of your Pyramid? Yeah, your allocation has been increased to 20 grams from last weeks' 30 grams, peasant! We'd need gorilla sized guts to handle that much grain & vegetables. Well, look around you, it' happening.

You are correct, the rations included a pound of meat per person per month, 8 oz of sweets per person per month, etc. Vegetables and wheat bread were not rationed. But those rationed remained in place until well into the 50's. thanks to the Labour govt that was voted in because Mr. Churchill reminded them of the bad old war. I wonder if they took into consideration the extreme stress of the war years and the continued deprivation of food supplies in post war London when they were studying the effects of the diet?

Here are some of the places they go.
Applesauce, pickle relish, minced garlic, tomato sauce, ketchup, diced tomatoes with or without chiles, Chile sauce, salsa, instant mashed potatoes, guacamole, all kinds of dips, dried onion flakes, pickled beets, canned corn, canned peas, canned any vegetable.
The baby carrots do lose a lot of flavor during the process. Their skins are removed and that is where a lot of flavor is, and minerals, and to a lesser extent, toxins.

In 1990 the price of a loaf of store bread went to $.50 a loaf.
About 2005 I started tracking the price of staples at various stores so I would have an idea where to shop for particular groceries and if the sales were a good deal.

I had extra chili peppers last fall, and I fermented them in quart jars (chopped very coarse and stuffed into quart jars with 1/8 cup of salt per quart and water to cover the chilies)
When they stopped bubbling, I blended the whole quart up with some added garlic and basil, and then a bit of apple cider vinegar to make it runnier. It was a fantastic hot sauce, and I ate it all very quickly.

Even Hungarian peppers have enough heat, and they complex in flavor too, I suspect they would be good.
I planted a bunch of Korean peppers for my wife, and I always grown cayenne and Thai if I can get it.
If you can grow sweet peppers you can grown hot peppers too, just don't water them as much.
Oh, and I have a recipe for Sambal, too . . . It is mighty good too.

Probably all of us should also collect a few CB radios, and Citizen's Band walkie-talkies, too. Find 'em cheap at flea markets and swap meets. Zero security for long-term use, but there are ways to make secure comms on an insecure channel, especially if calls are very brief.

I'd like to find a piece of property with a year-round stream so I can set up a micro-hydro. That is to say I have found a few, but not within reach until the lottery pays off.

One thing I've learned about antennas is that no one can agree on what should work, but no one argues with what does. With the sun spot cycle ramping up you'll be able to work the world with a crap antenna and very little power in the next few years.

My best find, since childhood collecting was in the local bank a number of yrs ago. This may be 20 yrs ago or more, was still remarkable.
I was in the old bank, inside to deal w/ a teller, noticed in her coin tray some Ben Franklin halves. Asked her if I could but them, she said sure. There maybe 8, so $4. Went home and looked them up they were worth 7 times face value at the time, dated back to 1963 and earlier, nice silver.

The truth is that in anything other than a free-field, antenna characteristics are hard to model, or anticipate. Most Ham antennas are compromises that simply work well in their particular environment.
I assume that the 20' number is the apex of the towers? If so, then certainly you would want to mount a Mast, or masts atop those. The possibilities are endless, but mounting multiple vertical masts in close proximity is probably a bad idea...or at least not good. Look, there are any number of good Amateur antenna manuals out there that will provide food for thought, and much more than I can offer here. Look for ARRL antenna books, and an ARRL Communications book would be good too. A wealth of info.

Book. There are a plethora of verticals available. Single frequency, multiband. Then, there is the possibility of stringing wire, which is cheap and easy. I'm not dodging the question, but a good antenna book will answer questions that neither of us have thought of, and is interesting to have around.
Having the towers is a big, big leg up. BTW, are you familiar with Texas Towers? https://www.texastowers.com/
