Saudi Arabia Gets Closer to China While Moving Away From US: Expert

With the growing closeness between China and Saudi Arabia, the U.S. sees the deterioration in its relationship with the Gulf country, according to Gregory Copley, president of the International Strategic Studies Association.
“It is the most significant setback which the United States and the West has seen since perhaps the middle of the Cold War period,” Copley told the “China in Focus” program on NTD news.
He pointed to the relationship between the West and the Middle East under the administration of President Richard Nixon.
“What we saw in the early 1970s was that under President Nixon, the United States and the West achieved a great friendship with all of the states of the Middle East, including Israel and the Arab States and Iran,” he said.
“There was no real threat of mutual hostilities, there was a lot more positive growth and stability in the region,” he added.
In 1973, the Nixon administration succeeded in securing a ceasefire between Israel and Egypt, and Syria.
“And basically, what we saw under President [Joe] Biden was the absolute, under President [Barack] Obama in his term earlier, the destruction of that balance in the Middle East,” Copley opined.

Just our behavior towards Iran would be enough to push the Sunni Arabs into stronger relationships with China, because they are quite rightly concerned that a feckless America will facilitate...either actively or by inaction...an Iranian nuclear force. That would be catastrophic for the region, since Iran is run by a cabal of kleptocratic maniacs who relish the idea of Armageddon in service to their lunatic religion. Add in Biden's smug and cavalier attitude with the Saudis, and it is no wonder they are discarding the tattered remnants of Pax Americana and rushing to the other world power.

If you think inflation is bad now, just wait until that happens.

But the near-universal use of the dollar for international settlement and energy purchases is what lets us quarantine a *ton* of bad monetary behavior. There is built-in, constant demand for dollars outside of this country, and we *need* that demand.

The tacit understanding in that scheme is that, regardless of anything else, you can settle in dollars. No matter what. When we kicked Russia - an important if only moderately-sized (economically) country - out of SWIFT, it throws that into question. There's a lot of instability in non-dollar settlement right now, but as it stabilizes and non-dollar activity becomes easier (essentially, Russia and her trading partners work out some of the kinks), we're going to lose our grip on that.

The old JIS standard was the phillips screw head. Exactly.
There were older standards before then, but it varied with company.
From what I recall, the newer JIS (past 15, 20 years) is compatible with phillips but a little tighter and so unique.

Also called a "cassandra complex". But its true. Certain folks said, literally a decade or more ago, that this is a UniParty. A rigged game. Other folks loudly shouted them down, mocked them, and tried to get them banned if they could.

314 287 I kept thinking things were likely to crash faster when Barack was in office and I had the Atlas Shrugged mentality that crashing quickly was probably the best hope of a new lawful Republic emerging from the chaos after the crash; people would remember how to make things work.

Now I feel in spite of gallant efforts by Trump the crash will come but because the enemy has had more years for brainwashing of young minds, its already slim chances for a new lawful Republic. Plus I'm resigned that the crash is not going to come for several years yet.

Maybe I'll come off my horse and hit my head and not have to live through the dystopia in my dotage when the house of cards finally collapses.

The Crash is not coming very soon. The US and most of its allies are in economic straits but are still living off the large amount of fat laid-in during the prosperous post-WW2 era. Lots of people in the US and Europe are mad as hell, but until there are bread lines and MS-13 gangs roaming the suburbs stealing food, autos, and your women, the Crash isn't coming.
