The Saturday Night Joke

Sam was sitting behind A woman, Deborah who was riding the bus while trying to breastfeed her baby. The baby, however, did not seem to be interested. After several tries, Deborah is quite angry. "Drink the milk or I'll give it all to the man sitting at the back!" she says.

The baby is still playing around. A few minutes later she tries again, "drink the milk or I'll really give it all to the man at the back, and you'll go hungry!" The baby continues rejecting her. She tries again, very angry this time, "I'm definitely going to give it all to the man at the back if you don't behave!"

This goes on a few more times. Suddenly she hears Max’s voice from the back of the bus - "Lady will you please make up your mind? I was supposed to get off 5 stops ago." (H/T Isophorone Blog)

EXCLUSIVE: Mum's dream wedding becomes 'worst day of her life' after 150 half-naked ravers turn up
Natalie Rhodes paid thousands to have her dream wedding abroad, but she was in for a shock as on the day she found the venue had been double booked with a 'rave'

A fuming woman has told how her wedding became 'the worst day of her life' after the venue was swarmed with ' ravers '.

Natalie Rhodes, 40, splashed out almost £6,000 to have her dream wedding abroad in Malta, hiring a wedding planner make sure they had the day of their dreams.

Perfect Weddings Abroad promised Natalie's big day, on August 26, was in good hands but as it finally rolled around the bride-to-be, from Rochdale, Greater Manchester, was in for a shock.

Just another problem in California. But you can help!

CONTEST DETAILS

Did you know the traffic cones you see along roadways have helped protect highway workers for more than 80 years? Safety cones play a huge role here in California. They are important indicators for drivers to reduce speed, be extra alert, watch out – and in some cases MOVE OVER to the next lane if it is safe to do so – for highway workers, law enforcement, emergency personnel, and tow truck drivers. We think cones are important and so are you! That’s why we’re asking YOU to help us name our new cone mascot.

Those who follow The ONT know I am not much of a soccer fan. The following story proves that soccer really isn't more than back ground noise. Thousands watched 'live games from Qatar' not realising they were FIFA 23 replays

Forty thousand French footy fans were fooled into thinking they were watching a bootleg stream of a World Cup match – but it was really low-resolution video game footage.

Despite enticing headlines promising live games being streamed direct from Qatar, fans hoping for World Cup action were instead treated to highly-pixelated game replays from EA Sports’ FIFA 23.

Don't tell your significant other to "Calm down". Do this instead.

How to Calm Someone Down

We’ve all likely encountered someone who’s acting angry or hysterical.

A customer flips his lid at you because he didn’t get his order exactly how he wanted it.

A co-worker goes berserk because someone failed to fill up the coffee pot.

A friend is freaking out because she lost her job.

These kinds of situations can feel fraught and catch us flat-footed.

Because the person is making you and others uncomfortable, may escalate their emotional outburst into something legitimately dangerous, or is someone you simply care about and want to help, you’d like to be able to calm them down.

But how do you do that?

Our 15 Most Popular Cocktail Recipes of 2022
Come for the frozen drinks, stay for the cocktails that went viral on social media.

If you've so much as glanced at a cocktail menu in 2022, you likely encountered miniature cocktails, low-ABV spirits hitting center stage, and Martini madness. But when we weren't heading out to restaurants and bars to have someone make us a perfectly crafted drink (the post-pandemic shine hasn't worn off, and likely never will), we were whipping up drinks inspired by those trends at home, from a dirty pasta water Martini, to a party-ready Spaghett. And then, of course, there were the drinks made viral by the Internet, like the Negroni Sbagliato and the Dirty Shirley. Whether you're feeling a little nostalgic for the year past, or want to give something new a try, read on for our 15 most-read cocktail recipes of 2022.

She will be looking for a new Baby Sitting job now.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV/Gray News) - A manager at an Olive Garden restaurant in Kansas was fired after a harsh message was sent to employees about taking time off.

A representative with the chain confirmed the Overland Park restaurant manager’s firing to KCTV on Tuesday.

“We are no longer taking ANY excuse for calling off,” the manager’s message read in part. “If you’re sick, you need to come prove it to us. If your dog died, you need to bring him in and prove it to us. If it’s a ‘family emergency,’ too bad. Go work somewhere else.”

The message also said anyone who calls in more than once in the 30 days since it was sent out will no longer work at the restaurant.

The ONT Musical Interlude & Shot Glass Emporium

Is Stephen Kruiser right, wrong or somewhere inbetween?

It is very important that I get this out of the way at the beginning of this column: I despise all secular Christmas music. You will have wasted time and energy that you'll want at the end of your life if you try to change my mind, even if it's only about one song. Here is a Twitter exchange I had after I mentioned that I'd be writing this:

How the Grinch stole Christmas became a Genius Award Winner.

DECEMBER 8--A holiday party fracas involving a man dressed as the Grinch and a coworker wearing a reindeer costume required the intervention of Michigan cops who arrested the Seuss wannabe for assault and battery, according to police reports.

Officers were summoned late Saturday night to a Traverse City hotel, where a “work Christmas party started an altercation in the bar area.” The men involved in the fight are employed by a local oil and gas equipment company.

Before cops arrived, the dispute spilled out of the bar and into the main lobby of the Hotel Indigo. Employee Keri Stock told police she saw “the man in the green Grinch outfit” fighting and “yelling back and forth” with a man wearing a plaid jacket.

71 Almost went postal today.

I was at a big box store, there was actually more than one cashier open, I got on one line that had two people in front of me with not very much stuff, so I thought it would go quick.

Wrong, major issues, with price check because apparently the idiots in front of me picked up the four things in the entire f**king store that didn't have price tags on them.

Gave up on that line, moved to another line with relatively few people and few items, different problems arose as apparently this line had shoppers who regarded the whole putting your stuff on the conveyor belt, letting the cashier scan them then paying for them as a bewildering and confusing impossibility of dark wizardry.

Bailed on that line, saw a line with about 5 people but they looked to be shopping for the entire Spanish Armada.

Resigned and defeated, I went to the self checkout corral, where surprisingly all of the machines worked and was able to quickly do my business and depart.

78 My favorite restaurant to hate on is Buffalo Wild Wings. They are uniformly filthy with a staff that makes it clear they give exactly zero fucks about anything, especially the customers and microwaved food that shouldn't be allowed anywhere near anybody that needs just one more thing to push them over the edge and commit suicide.

So that is exactly where I am headed in a few minutes because it is the only place within 100 miles around that has UFC 282 for free. We are not allowed to have nice things in New Mexico aka Improved Mexico, it's a 2.5 world country. I so love this place in spite of itself.

My usual problem is a Karen that has brought her own bags, has 3 different ways to pay including a check she hasn't started, 5 coupons of what 2 are expired, and wants to argue that she was overcharged by 2 bucks on her hundred dollar order. All while mumbling through her mask to the Guatemalan born cashier that barely speaks English to begin with. 103 I've been tracking the "anarchist" "instance" on Mastodon, since many of the worst Portland Antifa accounts have been kicked off of Twitter.

Unlike Twitter, there is no centralized moderation - that's up to the instance. Anyone can set up an instance, and you can determine the rules for joining your instance (to be on Mastodon, your account has to be associated with a specific instance). You can also decide whether to ban interacting with other instances or not.

Well, the anarchist instance got into it with a much smaller tranny instance, with predictably hilarious results.

107 Well, the anarchist instance got into it with a much smaller tranny instance, with predictably hilarious results.

I can only quote excerpts from the anarchist instance moderators, because they go on and on and on...

A short summary/explanation of events:

1) A user on Kolektiva (Person A) made a post criticizing the admin/moderator of Eighpoints.app (Person B).

2) In her post, Person A claimed that Person B had attempted to silence her for speaking out about abuse carried out by a third individual (Person C) linked to another account. All three individuals involved are trans women.

3) Person B and several other users on Eightpoints.app submitted reports to Kolektiva.social’s moderators, calling on us to delete the post in question and suspend Person A’s account. They cited their own moderation rules, and linked to an overview of the Jewish principle Lashon Hara (included here: https://cohost.org/shel/post/29079-lashon-hara-direct). Several of these reports also claimed that Person A’s allegation of abuse was untrue, and had been manufactured by users on Kiwi Farms to target trans women.

The trannys then tried to get other leftist instances to ban the anarchist instance:

We hope that those instances who have decided to defederate from Kolektiva.social consider reversing their decision, or following up with us if they have any outstanding questions or concerns. We are not seeking to further escalate this matter, but are willing to engage with people who think that we have misrepresented events, or left something out.

155 Here's the question I'll ask Kruiser; do you go to church, do you read scripture regularly, do you believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, have you been baptized?

If no to any other those then piss up a rope cause no one cares whether you listen to religious Christmas music or whatever. You do you.

If yes then why are you judging when the Lord says leave the judging up to Him?

That's my take anyway.

160 The best food deals around me are at big chain gas stations like Parkers. They have a little fastfood place inside where they fry chicken. You can get chicken tenders fries and a drink for about $5. And your purchases get you money off your gas purchases. Perhaps not the highest quality food. I wouldn't base your diet around it. But you'll see a lot of day laborers and construction guys going there.
Posted by: banana Dream

Believe it or not, I've been in a few WaWas where the offerings were much better than I expected. Not familiar with Parkers but, out in the hinterlands where I am, many of the Mom and Pop gas stations have a small grill in the back. The specials are usually pretty good and very inexpensive.

It's in three 30 minute plus segments, but I found it very well historically informed and not just bloviation from opinion writers.

180 Shameless plug. Era Snow is a 20ish sing/songwriter her in Las Cruces and I think she has some real talent. Her first album on Spotify, Troubled Bones, is quite lovely.
What is remarkable is she can pull off these arrangements all by herself when playing live. She is something of a looping genius - it is pretty incredible and it is utterly musical. The trick is she plays barefoot and somehow does all the looping magic with her toes. I dubbed her, one day, Era Snow and the Piggies. She was mildly not amused.

Here is a video of her from 2018 when she still had braces. In case you were wondering she matured into being quite the looker.

And no, I am not related to her.

And when your workday is so busy that you've barely got time to snarfle those down before getting back on the road, then that's -$5 well spent.

Conversely, a good sit down Tex Mex deal is gonna cost more, take more time, and be far more enjoyable. Oh, and is best accompanied by a Negra Modelo, no salt, no lime, frosted mug, if you please?

Actually, setting aside the looting, and the rioting, and the pandering to leftist pet causes and whatnot, the MN state government is surprisingly functional. Sad that they're throwing it all away, they really had a chance.

Yes, much is manipulated. Joseph in Egypt used food for control ... there MIGHT be merit to strategic use of resources (as USA has done for decades) and control of military might ... to acquire "the greater good".

But that is not how the globalists and (bailed out) billionaires are using their coercive powers. Coal is abundant, t can be scrubbed (not of CO2, though they COULD do that at unnecessary expense). but scrubbed of the real pollutants. And we have a lot of oil and nat gas. The corrupt powers just want evil control, they want servants ... but don't realize if they kill off the producers, their (nirvana) world will collapse.

And if you like four wheeling (not in your Toyota), Windrock ATV park is pretty much a destination point for that regionally. I used to wait on people from all over the country that were in town with their ATVs. Plus their is a range nearby if you choose to rent a cabin and make a weekend of it.

And Frozen Head State Park has some good hiking trails and you can occasionally catch the brewers open and at work at the Lilly Pad Hop Yard if you are looking for a beer.

338 Short faced cats, such as Persians, are pretty much doomed to dribbling the kibble as they eat it. There's just not enough chewing room in their abbreviated mouths to work the mush around and grind it down to swallowable, and keep it 100% on-board.

Long face breeds, such as Siamese, or even normal yellow tabbies, seldom have this problem. Bonnie Wee Lass here, the Six Pound Kitty, dribbles the kibble because she's about 1/2 short faced, and just so damn tiny, they don't make a kibble in "her size"!

345 Today I made a serious effort to start the parts Jeep in my side yard, jointly owned by me and a friend. I used my compressed air to blow most of the dust, leaves, and litter from under the hood, and used the battery out of MY Jeep to crank it. Would not start. Took air intake duct off, and sprinkled a little gasoline in the throttle body. It fired for a second or two. And then the battery died. Tried the battery out my Lark, same deal, would fire on on a prime, but would not stay running. Went and borrowed a big battery from the partner. Again, ran on prime, not on its own. Started trouble-shooting the fuel pump. Juice to the relay, check. Line from relay to pump? Open circuit. Bridged the relay contacts with a paper clip, and crawled under rear of vehicle with a flashlight and a test light. Juice to the harness plug for the tank unit, OK. Pierced the ground wire in the harness with the probe. No light. If the pump were OK, or just stuck, the light should have lit if there was a fault at the grounding point on the vehicle body. Conclusion: pump is burned out.

I now know the engine would likely run if it had fuel pressure.

(We forced the semi to jack-knife because we were trying to stop traffic from hitting an already present accident, and the road was icy. The trailer came to a stop across the road about 10 feet from us. That was a very long night for our two-car convoy.)

If you're storing rice in 20# lots, then you're also storing up things like seasonings, bullion cubes and other such as to make your offerings not so damn boring.

Pro-tip. Endeavor NOW, to not throw leftovers out of your fridge, but always find ways to work them into subsequent meals. You gotta practice these skills to get good at 'em, y'know.

400 I can find cooking fuel, even if it's the timbers from the Mayor's house. Or, etc. The fuel is there, take it by any means necessary.

If you've got the fuel, you can purify the water.

The rest is details, and/or the ability and will for you to defend what YOU'VE got.

Pro-tip II. Will, applied with ruthless, unblinking force. If ever was a time to be a bastard, that would be the time to BE a bastard.

404 So last night i sipped 2 or 3 sam adams winter lagers and maybe an ounce, total, of different scotches - ate plenty of food and water. When i got home, my body started getting more and more sore and achey. Not remotely a hangover. Had to take a few aspirin and turn the heat up to 70. Pain didn't fade for hours. I rarely drink, but even a few beers these days and bam. Maybe it's a metabolite thing? Sucks.

Just became legal here one year ago. It's like all I've ever had was moonshine and then you walk into a well stocked bar with a giant wine list. There's a wide variety of consistent quality available without dealing with shady folks.

Of course I am in very real danger of becoming THAT guy. You know the wine guy who sniffs the wine and rambles bullshite about oak and tanins? I'm becoming that guy in weed. "I'm looking for a sativa dominant hybrid with a high limonene content," etc...

I'll give the marketing folks credit. The different brand names are hilarious. Currently have some Lemon Cake and Alaskan Thunder F*ck in the cupboard.

Its been a bastard. I was occasionally smelling the exhaust gas from the oil burner in the house. I had a chimney liner done and it didn't cure it. I would smell it out in the garage and why I don't know, but never in the basement. I figured maybe its a negative pressure thing and the exhaust was getting pulled down the fireplace flue since they are next to each other, and maybe getting sucked into the eve vents of the garage. The last week or so i was hearing a rumbling in the boiler, like an uneven flame burn. Today it quit. It would fire up, run 10 seconds and shut off. I did an entire service on it, which was done 7 months ago. It fired up and ran, but still rumbled a bit. Then I checked the flame and it looked too cold, so I adjusted the air intake, got a nice flame, the rumble went away, not smelling anything in the house. All is right with the world.
