3 Bank of America announced Aug. 30 that it is launching a trial program, called the Community Affordable Loan Solution, offering mortgages that do not require closing costs, down payments or minimum credit scores. People in predominantly Hispanic or Black neighborhoods in Charlotte, North Carolina; Dallas; Detroit; Los Angeles; and Miami that meet specific income requirements will have access to the program.

Race based preferences are illegal so I do not believe this will last long.

Yankees are done, cooked, finished. They suck, aside from Judge.

Hmmm, I was told by Yankeedom earlier this year that they were on track to win 120+ games and we should just end the season now and declare them champions, because they're the Yankees. My reply, at the time, was 1) nothing moves in a straight line and 2) it's a long season.

At least they're still in first. Unlike the Mets.

Favorite thing I learned - the Smithsonians were originally created b/c a rich European's (Mr. Smithson's) nephew wouldn't give him an heir (I mean, they say they don't know why he gifted the money, but you can read the original will, and if you do, you get it). He probably picked the US just to really try to force the "give me an heir" issue, but as they say, the Lord works in mysterious ways...

This was after hours of sanding, wire wheeling cleaning and spray painting the rims. Let me tell you, old Ford rims are made of some honking heavy steel.

Oh where have you gone Billy Martin

I read that the most brilliant managerial stratagem in baseball history was Connie Mack pitching Howard Ehmke in Game 1 of the 1929 World Series.

It was clear by early September that the A's and Cubs would be in the Series. Mack told Ehmke, a slow ball pitcher, to take time off and do nothing but scout the Cubs batters. Mack figured that Ehmke's off-speed stuff would baffle the Cubs hard hitting. Ehmke struck out 13 in a 3-1 A's win.

So Mack devised a strategy to wangle not an out or a run, but an entire game. We'll never see anything like it again.

When the Check Engine light comes on and you get a code, there's a 5% chance something is wrong with the component and a 95% chance something is wrong with the sensor monitoring the component.

Many of the newer vehicles allow battery info from each tire sensor to be read by the dealer code scanner.

See if the dealer can help.

Those batteries usually last 5-13 years, and are not replaceable. New sensors go 35-90 bucks each.

Try adding a pound to each tire. Do you have the overall TPMS or is it by tire?

Some systems need to run about 3 or 4 miles once tires are up to PSI for the system to reset.

My understanding from talking with my Dad after he quit that the hardest part was -

breaking all the habits, he'd acquired as a smoker after all those years.

Things like, he felt like he didn't know what to do with his hands in social situations, since he was used to smoking and having that hand "occupied".

What to do during breaks, etc.

That sort of deal. It wasn't physical cravings so much as the act of smoking had trained him to act and behave in certain ways that had to be broken and it felt sort of unnatural.

Anyway, both he and my Mom quit after smoking for decades. I'm sure you can too.

286 The different ways that the manufacturers implement tire pressure monitoring is very strange. sra blaster's Honda calculates it from tire rotation. When you put air in, you have to calibrate it and then it determines from the tire speed if one is out of whack and throws the TPMS light. It cannot tell you which tire is low. And theoretically if all 4 tires were to leak at the same rate it would be perfectly happy when they are all flat.

Quitting smoking is tough. I quit in my 20s but I had the help of close friends who delighted in smacking me around whenever I lit up.

True. The sensors are much more effective but eventually the battery dies, and you have to replace the sensor. Dealers and tire shops will want $100 for the part and then you have to pay for a tire mount to actually do it - so $150 or so usually. I get sensors from eBay for $20 and have a tire guy that will mount it for $20.

313 On the 50 Trump people who have been raided...I haven't seen any real corroboration on that. I know Harmeet Dhillon said she knows some, which is at least a partial corroboration.

But I said after January 6 - these people scare the shit out of me. Denying clearances to people in the military for a "like" on the NRA?

===========================
Yes. It's odd, too. His Dad, Jack Buck was the voice of my youth, calling Cardinal games. His funereal was like a city wide event. His voice sounded like warm bourbon on a cold night. He was always funny, obviously loved the game, and players and management loved him.
His kid's voice has a tinny, irritating and contrived quality to it, and you can tell the guy is an absolute prick to work with.
