Night photography in Seoul
by TeemusPhoto

He does some neat videos too. Below the fold, there's a short video of an ATM kiosk in the rain, and a longer video of Seoul in the rain. He also shows the photos he takes during this walkabout.

By the way, these are available on opensea, which is the NFT marketplace. The reason these pictures (and many of the ones I post) look very cyberpunk and Blade-Runner-ish is because they're taken to appeal to the NFT/crypto market, which, as you can imagine, is a market that appreciates the cyperpunk aesthetic.

On to the animal videos.

Birdwalk.

A "superpod," the caption says, of 10,000 dolphins. The sea certainly seems a-boil with dolphins.

Another big pod of dolphins, this one in brighter daylight.

Deer Crossing (Safely).

Having a dance-off with a racoon.

ICYMI: Dramaticat wants to come inside.

Elk and rainbow at lake.

Man rescues a wolf caught in a trap. Note that the wolf doesn't understand he's trying to help, so that's an obstacle.

Retired race horses enjoying their silver years.

Catch of the Day.

The roughest, toughest, orneriest baby elephant this side of Zanzibar.

Spotted eagle rays.

It's the Lufthanza Heist of cats. Cue the end coda of "Layla."

Who's doing the sight-seeing here?

Some GAINZZZ to tide you over until next week:

90 Blade Runner is based on a Philip K Dick story. A surprising number of popular modern scifi movies are. Minority Report. Total Recall are another two that come to mind.

These were all written in the 50s. Warner Brothers optioned a lot of his stories at the time. For 4-figures max. Someone at WB was smart.

Worth going back and reading Philip K Dick's short stories. Somewhat dated, but he was well ahead of his time. One of the best scifi writers ever in my opinion.

Only reason I went there is because it's across the street from Grand Central Market, a great place to grab chow. We had bizness nearby requiring two trips to the area. John Smith, the only Protestant in the large Catholic neighborhood, grilled a steak every Friday in Lent. Meanwhile all of his neighbors were eating cold tuna fish for supper.
On the last Friday of Lent the neighborhood men got together and decided that something just HAD to be done about John, he was just tempting them to eat meat each Friday of Lent and they couldn't take it anymore.

They decided to try and convert him to be Catholic. They went over and talked with him, and he decided to join all of his neighbors and become a Catholic.

They took him to church and the priest sprinkled some water over him and told him "You were born a Baptist, you were raised a Baptist and now you are a Catholic".

The next year's Lent rolled around, and at supper time when the neighborhood was setting down to their fish dinners came the wafting smell of steak cooking on a grill. The men headed over to John's yard.

The group arrived just in time to see John standing over his grill pouring small droplets over his grilling steak and saying, "You were born a cow, you were raised a cow, you are now a fish!"

They have to be good quality Kodachromes. "Red border" slides from the 1950s are especially collectable.

But generally I see a couple few ways to go. Some people sell a huge lot of Slides from an estate for $100 to $200 maybe. Better than nothing.

Some have them scanned digitally and sell the image that way.

The real trick is to get them submitted to somebody like Getty images, or maybe Shutterstock - and get a continuing revenue stream. A small, but useful profit, you know. It's worth investigating, I think.

170 In my mailbox:
Internet access is necessary for work, school, healthcare, and more. Unfortunately, high speed internet remains unaffordable for too many households. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) runs a program, the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), that reduces the cost of getting online for people with limited income. Many internet providers offer fully covered internet plans – meaning you may even get high-speed internet for free.

If your household income is 200% or less than the Federal Poverty Guidelines or someone in your household participates in certain government assistance programs, you may be eligible for the benefits the ACP provides.

For any Blade Runner aficionados, or architecture aficionados, worth a visit if you're near downtown LA.

Park in Grand Central Market underground parking across the street (cheapest in area). And avail yourself of the grub inside the Market. About a dozen+ different food places, several Mexican of course (seafood place deep inside and Michoacan pork place up front on the street are incredible), and even a great donut place near the front entrance to make sure you've gorged enough.

As noted above, in the Bradbury weekdays you can enter and walk around the ground floor, weekends there are tours available to the rest of the building.

But ibex, on the Pakistan side of the Pakistan China border, that had been hanging in a remote cabin all summer... That is the only thing that my body physically rebelled at. I've always been able to just put my mindset right and chew it swallow it and smile, and that had me gagging to my knees...

I was actually talking about this with a colleague in from another office earlier this week, and specifically how the woke shit ruins good fiction. My contention is that the writers live in a very privileged, elite bubble where everything was given to them in quite a sterile manner and the absence of meaningful life experiences means they can't actually understand character development and revert to boring Mary Sues.

The Colter run actually happened. We see all the Dr. No variations, but he really was turned loose with braves behind him. He outran most. One kept up. He turned at the end and attacked him, and the brave was so shocked, Colter won.

338 The Colter run actually happened. We see all the Dr. No variations, but he really was turned loose with braves behind him. He outran most. One kept up. He turned at the end and attacked him, and the brave was so shocked, Colter won.

Like I said, John Colter was an absolute bad-ass. There has not been a lot written about him, but he never gave up. The Blackfeet hated him. He kept trying to trap The Three Forks area.

I would imagine (note: imagine!) that sequins would be ticklish.

Between speed-reading and cataracts and a 4-5 yearold spectacle prescription, I do misread a lot. I read that above as '..... wonderful memories with the very bad people.' so I started to wonder/worry what was I missing .... until a more careful perusal of the wording cleared everything up, EXCEPT MY VISION!
