The Saturday Night Joke

AN EDUCATED DOG - KNOWS TOO MUCH

A young Irish boy goes off to college. Half way through the semester, having foolishly squandered all his money, he calls home.

"Dad" he says, "You won't believe what modern education is developing!
They actually have a program here in our institution that will teach our dog, Jack, how to talk!"
"That's amazing, "his father says. "How do I get Jack in that program?"
"Just send him down here with $10,000" the young boy says " and I'll get him in the course."
So his father sends the dog and $10,000.

About two-thirds of the way through the semester, the money again runs out.

The boy calls home. "So how's Jack doing son?" his father asks.
"Awesome, dad, he's talking up a storm," he says, "but you just won't believe this -- they've had such good results they have started to teach the animals how to read!"
"Read ??"says his father. "No kidding! How do we get Jack in that program?"
"Just send $20,000, I'll get him in the class."
The money promptly arrives. But our hero has a problem.

At the end of the year, his father will find out the dog can neither talk, nor read.
So he shoots the dog!!!

When he arrives home at the end of the year, his father is all excited. "Where's Jack? I just can't wait to see him read something and talk!"
"Dad" the boy says, "I have some grim news. Yesterday morning, just before we left to drive home, Jack was in the living room, kicked back in the recliner, reading The Economic Times, like he usually does. Then Jack turned to me and asked,

"So, is your father still having an affair with that pretty lady Rachel who lives down the street ?"

The father went white and exclaimed "I hope you shot that son of a bitch before he talks to your Mother!"
"I sure did, dad!
"That's my boy!"

The kid went on to law school and is now a politician.

You know me. You know The ONT. The ONT Is Always Looking Out For YouTM

After Six Months
Basically, adding a nap into your daily routine will give your body a major health boost. After six months, the long-term benefits of napping kick in. Breese notes one study on Greek adults that found a short nap during the day reduces the risks of dying from heart disease and regularly getting more rest may increase your sex drive. “Overall, napping can help you get on a more consistent schedule, and research finds the consistency to be extremely beneficial for your sleep,” says Breese.

As I compose The ONT I have no idea what the Movie Thread will consist of. 50 Bad Movies That Are Absurdly Fun to Watch - A guaranteed good-bad time.

For most people, a typical movie-watching experience doesn't mean taking in the most audacious, challenging art the medium has to offer. There's a time and a place for French New Wave, Ingmar Bergman, and the boundary-pushing work of contemporary auteurs like Lars von Trier and Lynne Ramsay. But that time and place is probably not your living room after a long week of work. More often than not, the movie you're seeking doesn't require too much intellectual work and whose tagline should include a suggestion to suspend disbelief. In other words, you need a Bad Good Movie, also known as a Fun Bad Movie.

There are many such movies out there, and no two people will define a Bad Good Movie the same way. In gathering the titles on this list, we looked for the self-indulgent dialogue, excessive action, and irredeemably preposterous premises that defy you not to be impressed. Are these the 50 best Bad Good Movies of all time? The genre's nebulous nature makes it impossible to say, but they're certainly in contention, and we're probably re-watching one of them right now.

How a Dick Pic Helped Detectives Crack a $30M Celebrity Diamond Heist

The saga began with a luxury lifestyle Instagram post. Just before Christmas in 2019, Tamara Ecclestone—the model heiress daughter of diminutive ex-Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone—announced that she and her family were jetting off to Lapland for the holidays with a picture of her daughter, Sophia, in front of a private jet.

On the night they left, a gang of thieves broke into the family’s home located on a street referred to as “billionaire’s row.” The group were able to swipe around $30 million in cash, watches and diamonds from the property. That was despite the fact that a security guard actually caught three unmasked men in flagrante at around 11pm inside Ecclestone’s dressing room—known as “the vault”—after its six-inch steel door had been left unlocked. The thieves shoved past the guard and escaped the palatial mansion through a window.

79 Padraig O'Donnell entered the rectory at his local Catholic church and asked to see the pastor. The pastor said, "What is the matter Padraig?" Padraid said, "Fadder, Fadder, I am so distraught today. My long-time companion, my dog Laddy passed away yesterday. I wanted to ask if he can have a proper Catholic burial."
The pastor replied "I am so sorry for your loss Padraig, but the Catholic church only grants funerals to human beings. So sorry. But I believe that the Protestant church in town allows animal burials. I think you should ask them."
Padraig says, "Thank you Fadder, do you believe my cause will be improved if I offer them $50,000 for the burial?"
The pastor quickly replied, "Padraig! Why didn't you tell me your dog was Catholic?"

Tom Cruise just said similar in a recent interview, and I agree. All I know is: in my 20s and 30s, in and out of various mental wards for "major depression", nobody ever sampled any of my brain fluids. I'm convinced all that "chemical imbalance" bullshit was bullshit, a con, and a racket. Who knows how my brain's been rewired by all the different patented experiments they tried on me. No matter, Christ fixed it.

88 I watched The Wolf of Wall Street the other day. Had never seen anything more than the commercial on TV.

It was - well, it was Scorcese at his most decadent. A movie full of terrible people who are, to some extent, still likable. It was a beautifully shot movie and Margot Robbie - yeah.

But it explained to me a lot more about our world than I thought it would. Yes, about the excesses of capitalism. But how that makes everything work. People were asking about software subscriptions on the blog here, and the whole reason is to keep guys like Jordan Belfort in coke and whores. Here's the deal folks: in services, your valuation is 1:1 on dollar of revenue. For product, like software, it's 2:1. For subscription, it is 6:1. Your boss, with the car that costs about what your house does? He wants subscription software. And that is what you will build.

My kid's been watching "Attack on Titan" and every time I pass through the room, there's a scene where people turn into giants and start chomping on the little people who didn't transform.

She asked me why I didn't like it and I said that I can't deal with the contrast between massive destruction, who towns wiped out by naked cannibal giants which is then followed by twentysomething angst social relationship crap.

I mean, thousands and thousands of people are dead, and the dialog is all "I can't believe Eren and being so rude and distant! He really hurt my feelings." What the actual hell.

249 I sometime wonder if Japan's increasingly belligerence is going to lead to a population increase.

Think about it - to fight China, they will need a larger military, which of course rekindles the warrior spirit. Japan never really let go of that - look at the naval ensign if you don't believe me.

Posted by: Bete at July 23, 2022 11:48 PM (HVuiX)
---
I don't know about that, just that there appear to be several factors in their low birthrate. One is that Japanese men are lost in the interwebs and fear contact with actual women.

Take them out of a chair and put them running around and practicing killing things and maybe they build up enough T to decide to go for the real deal.

Similarly, Japanese women also want a status husband, and that's not always easy to find in the age of dudes buying dolls and crap. If there are more soldiers, and these are seen as high-status individuals, more women will want to be with them.

To put it another way, Japan reverts to its older culture.

No. The Flying Tigers are based in Taiwan.

The actual squadrons and lineage has survived. They're now flying super-tricked out F-16s in a special gunslinger mod where they can hang three missiles per pylon. I think the goal is for each to down a dozen PLAAF aircraft before having to land and rearm.

Morning, once you're into Baytown (east of Houston), you're fine. There's a Buc-ee's there, and it's on the Eastbound side of the highway.. Enjoy the sausage on a stick, wrapped in a tortilla. And, the jerky counter.
