First-World Problems...

uglyplant.jpg

Hanging plants! How damned hard is it to keep them alive? But I don't think my spectacular skill at killing anything that grows out of the ground is responsible for this. I think it was a plot by the nursery that sold me the plants. Just look at the perfect symmetry of the dead part.

They were out to get me, and they succeeded. But next time I will be ready for them and use fake plants. Or maybe coat these plants in epoxy.

Equal amounts of sun and shade? Water?

One can purchase inexpensive timers and pvc (for in the ground hose) that clear plastic tubing is affixed and at the other an emitter that regulates output of water.
Emitters go from 1/4 gal per hr up to two gal per hr.

Connect the timer to a spigot the pipe to the timer then punch in the tubing at the desired spots.
Timer regulates the time water is on and each emitter regulates the flow at that particular spot.

One positive note, eggplant is currently $6.99 each in local markets.

I don't understand the selling agent allowing this to happen. Around here, homes for sale are listed as "coming soon" to begin to get the word out. Then there is, usually, an open house that lasts for a few days. Then, and only then, will bids be accepted for a day or three. Generally, a bidding war breaks out and the seller accepts the offer that best matches what they want.

For the seller to accept the first offer that comes in seems short sighted to me at least.

Not if you're asking "too much" to begin with. More than you'd be willing to settle for, anyway.

It works pretty well if you're in an area that's targeted for colonization by a high-CoL blue state population or a big corporation... A lot of times, they'll offer asking price *sight unseen.* Makes no difference to them if it needs some work. It's like buying in the 3rd world to them.

That's what happened to Denver (Californians). It's starting to happen where I'm looking (NYers).

97 I was going to list my mother's town home for what I thought was the market value based on recent sales. Most of those sales were well over the list price . After it went on the market I got a lot of looks but the comments thought the price was just a little too high. I then decided to drop the price by 20k. Got multiple offers and finally sold for 25k over asking price. If the people who originally liked it had made a counter offer 5k lower of initial listing price I would have probably taken something close to it. Lowering the price to get a higher price is definitely counterintuitive.

169 There have been three Atlantic Topical Storms this year, one in June, two in early July. Alex, Bonnie and Colin. I do not know why the fear-pumping media did not scream about them. Anyway, I think that for several years NOAA has been fiddling with storm data to intentionally elevate tropical disturbances to tropical storms.

If there was a verified cause-and-effect relationship between percentage of atmospheric CO2 and average global surface temperature, no models of that relationship would be needed. An equation would be all you need. Human-caused global climate change is a feel-good and money-making scam.

Another indication of this is the failure of the modelers to adjust their models to fit the actual surface temperature. They do not, for two reasons: 1. It will show the surface is not warming as fast as their dire predictions claim; 2. They don't know how to adjust the models to fit the data by turning the knobs in their models (CO2 and I don't know what other parameters).

Yep, that was nuts. We lived in Connecticut when that tropical depression came through and knocked out power for over a week. It was not a superstorm, it was a hurricane that had been down graded to tropical storm before it hit New Jersey and New England but they made it out to be the worst storm to hit new England in 800 years.
